1Effects of Salinity on Embryonic Development, Survival, and Growth of Crassostrea hongkongensis显示文摘This study examined the effects of salinity on embryonic development, survival, and growth of the Hong Kong oyster Crassostrea hongkongensis. The embryos, larvae, and juveniles of C. hongkongensis were held in artificial seawater at three different salinities(low, 15; medium, 23; and high, 30) to determine the optimum hatchery and nursery conditions for mass production of the seeds. Results showed that the percentage production of straight-hinged larvae from fertilized eggs was significantly lower at the high salinity than at the low- and medium-salinities(P < 0.05). The survival rates of larvae and juveniles differed significantly among the three salinity trials, with the highest survival rate observed at the low salinity(P < 0.05). The shell height of larvae was significantly larger at the low salinity than at the high and medium salinities from days 9 to 15(P < 0.05), whereas that of juveniles was significantly larger at the low salinity than at the high and medium salinities on day 70(P < 0.05). These results indicate that the larvae and juveniles of C. hongkongensis are tolerant to a wide range of salinities(15 to 30), but show better growth and survival at relatively low salinities. 3Interspecific Hybridization Between Crassostrea angulata and C. ariakensis显示文摘Interspecific hybridization can generate heterosis, which is proven to be a useful tool in selective breeding programs for oyster culture. Crassostrea angulata and C. ariakensis are two important economic shellfish species in China. We conducted 2 × 2 reciprocal crosses to determine whether these two species can cross-fertilize and their hybrids can hatch, survive and perform heterosis. Fertilization was found symmetrical without delay. The rate of fertilization success of C. angulata ♀× C. ariakensis ♂ was lower than that of C. ariakensis ♀× C. angulata ♂, and the success rate of both hybridizations was lower than that of two intraspecific crosses each. During the planktonic period, survival rate of the progeny was lower in the hybrid crosses than in the intraspecific crosses. On day 360, mean shell height of the progeny of C. angulata ♀× C. angulata ♂ was highest, which was followed by that of C. angulata ♀× C. ariakensis ♂, C. ariakensis ♀× C. ariakensis ♂ and C. ariakensis ♀× C. angulata ♂ in a descending order. Morphology of adults produced by the hybrid crosses was similar to that of C. angulata. Both hybrids underwent normal gonad development and produced mature gametes in the mating season. 4Preparation of hydrophobic transparent paper via using polydimethylsiloxane as transparent agent显示文摘Transparent paper with good hydrophobicity and flexibility was expected to act as an alternative substrate in fabrication of flexible electronics.However,conventional paper made of cellulose fibers was opaque and hydrophilic without undergoing special processing.Herein,cellulose fiber paper was treated by impregnating with hydrolyzed tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS)followed by coating with hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)to prepare hydrophobic transparent pa-per.The results showed that silica nanoparticles produced by the TEOS hydrolysis improved the paper transparency to some extent,increased the paper thermal stability,but still remained the hydrophilicity of paper.After the paper was further coated with the PDMS and the PDMS was consolidated,the paper became clearly transparent and hydrophobic.The processed paper had a transmittance of more than 90%at 550 nm.The water contact angle of the paper reached about 110°.This work provided a new approach for the fabrication of hydrophobic transparent paper with conventional cellulose fiber paper.Feixiang Guan Zhaoping Song Furong Xin Huili Wang Dehai Yu Guodong Li Wenxia Liu 2020Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2020,5,1:1
5Seasonal Variation of the Glycogen Enzyme Activity in Diploid and Triploid Pacific Oyster Gonad During Sexual Maturation显示文摘The glycogen content and the activities of two key enzymes in glycogen metabolism, glycogen phosphorylase and gly- cogen synthetase, in the gonad of diploid and triploid Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) were compared during maturation. The glycogen content in the gonad of diploids decreased with gametogenesis (by 85.7%), but the glycogen content in the gonad of trip- loids did not vary significantly. Activity of glycogen phosphorylase (GP) in the gonad of diploids decreased with gametogenesis (by 55.5%), while GP activity of triploids did not vary significantly during maturation. Activity of glycogen synthetase (GS) in the gonad of diploids increased slightly with gametogenesis, reaching a peak in June. Activity of GS declined sharply from June to July, which might be due to gonad spawning. 6Nanoparticle-stabilized Alkenyl Succinic Anhydride(ASA)Emulsions:A Review显示文摘Alkenyl succinic anhydride(ASA) is a popular paper-sizing agent that is generally added to papermaking systems as an aqueous emulsion. Herein, we reviewed the recent work focusing on ASA emulsions stabilized by solid particles. Solid particle-stabilized ASA emulsions generally possess high ASA content and exhibit good sizing performance. The particles that have been used to stabilize ASA emulsions typically include montmorillonite, laponite, alumina, TiO_2, Fe_3O_4, polyaluminum sulfate(PAS), and cellulose nanocrystals(CNCs). Montmorillonite is the first extensively studied particle stabilizer for ASA emulsions. Laponite is undoubtedly the most competent particle stabilizer for preparing ASA emulsions with high sizing efficiency. Montmorillonite and laponite can be used individually as stabilizers after modification or as co-stabilizers with other particles or polymers. 7Laboratory investigation of coal sample permeability under the coupled effect of temperature and stress显示文摘The stress and temperature sensitivities of coal reservoirs are critical geological factors affectingcoalbed methane(CBM)well exploitation;in particular it is important to reduce or eliminate their influence on coal reservoir permeability.To investigate coal permeability behavior at various effective stresses and temperatures,CH4 permeability tests were conducted on raw coal samples under a varying effective stress of 2.0-8.0 MPa under five different temperatures(25℃-65℃)in the laboratory.The results show that the permeability of the coal samples exponentially decreases with increasing effective stress or temperature,which indicates obvious stress and temperature sensitivity.Through a dimension-less treatment of coal permeability,effective stress,and temperature,a new stress sensitivity index S and tempera-ture index ST are proposed to evaluate coal stress and temperature sensitivity evaluation parameters.These new parameters exhibit integrality and uniqueness,and,in combination with stress sensitivity coefficient αk,tempe-rature sensitivity coefficient αT,and the permeability damage rate PDR,the sensitivities of coal permeability to stress and temperature are evaluated.The results indicate that coal sample stress sensitivity decreases with increasing effective stress,while it first decreases and then increases with increasing temperature.Additionally,coal sample temperature sensitivity shows a downward trend when temperature increases and fluctuates when effective stress increases.Finally,a coupled coal permeability model considering the impacts of effective stress and temperature is established,and the main factors affecting coal reservoir permeability and their control mechanism are explored.These results can provide some theoretical guidance for the further development of deep CBM.Yina YU Zhaoping MENG Jiangjiang LI Yixin LU Caixia GAO 2022Frontiers of Earth Science2022,16,4:1
8Extraction of Herba Lycopi Polysaccharide and Study of Its Antioxidant Activity by Cellulase Method显示文摘[Objectives] To optimize the extraction process of Herba Lycopi polysaccharide by cellulase,and study its antioxidant activity.[Methods]The single factor test and orthogonal test were conducted to study the effect of p H,enzyme dosage,enzymolysis temperature and extraction time on the extraction of Herba Lycopi polysaccharide. And the test was done about its scavenging effect on DPPH radicals and superoxide anions,and the antioxidant activity was evaluated. [Results] The optimum extraction process by cellulase method was as follows: p H value of 7; enzyme dosage of 4 ml; enzymolysis temperature of 40 ℃; extraction time of 2. 5 h. The average extraction rate of Herba Lycopi polysaccharide was 10. 70%,and RSD was 0. 17%. The antioxidant activity test showed that Herba Lycopi polysaccharide had a significant scavenging effect on radicals. 9Large spin Hall effect and tunneling magnetoresistance in iridium-based magnetic tunnel junctions显示文摘Magnetic tunnel junctions(MTJs)switched by spin-orbit torque(SOT)have attracted substantial interest owing to their advantages of ultrahigh speed and prolonged endurance.Both field-free magnetization switching and high tunneling magnetoresistance(TMR)are critical for the practical application of SOT magnetic random access memory(MRAM).In this work,we propose an MTJ structure based on an iridium(Ir)bottom layer.Ir metal is a desirable candidate for field-free SOT switching owing to its strong intrinsic spin Hall conductivity(SHC),which can be enhanced via doping.Herein,we study TMR in Ir-based MTJs with symmetric and asymmetric structures.Ir-based MTJs exhibit large TMR,which can be further enhanced by heavy metal symmetry owing to the resonant tunneling effect.Our comprehensive investigations illustrate that Ir-based MTJs are promising candidates for realizing SOT switching and high TMR.JiaQi Zhou Hang Yu Zhou Arnaud Boumel WeiSheng Zhaop 2020Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2020,63,1:0
10Highly collective atomic transport mechanism in high-entropy glass-forming metallic liquids显示文摘Quasielastic neutron scattering(QENS) has been used to study the atomic relaxation process and microscopic transport mechanism in high-entropy glass-forming metallic(HE-GFM) liquids. Self-intermediate scattering functions obtained from the QENS data show unusually large stretching, which indicates highly heterogeneous atomic dynamics in HE-GFM liquids. In these liquids, a group of atoms over a length scale of about 21 ? diffuses collectively even well above the melting temperature. However, the temperature dependence of diffusion process in one of the HE-GFM liquid is Arrhenius, but in the other HE-GFM liquid it is non-Arrhenius. 12Early Embryo and Larval Development of Inviable Intergeneric Hybrids Derived from Crassostrea angulata and Saccostrea cucullata显示文摘To detect the intergeneric hybridization between the oyster Crassostrea angulata and Saccostrea cucullata coexisting along the southern coast of China, reciprocal crosses were conducted between the two species. Barriers for sperm recognizing, binding, penetrating the egg, and forming the pronucleus were detected by fluorescence staining. From the results, although fertilization success was observed in hybrid crosses, the overall fertilization rate was lower than that of intraspecific crosses. A large number of hybrid larvae died at 6–8 d after hatching, and those survived could not complete metamorphosis. C. angulata ♀× S. cucullata ♂ larvae had a growth rate similar to that of the maternal species, whereas S. cucullata ♀× C. angulata ♂ larvae grew the slowest among all crosses. Molecular genetics analysis revealed that hybrid progeny were amphimixis hybrids. This study demonstrated that hybrid embryos generated by crossing C. angulata and S. cucullata could develop normally to the larval state, but could not complete metamorphosis and then develop to the spat stage. 13Profile and prevalence of aspirin resistance in patients with metabolic syndrome显示文摘Objective Aspirin has been used extensively in primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease,particularly for subjects at high risk such as metabolic syndrome.However,the responsiveness to aspirin treatment may vary among individuals.The present study was conducted to investigate the profile and prevalence of aspirin resistance in patients with metabolic syndrome.Methods In 221 consecutive patients,platelet aggregation induced by arachidonic acid (0.5mg/ml) was assessed after 10 days of aspirin treatment (200mg/d).Aspirin resistance was defined as mean optical platelet aggregation =20%.Results Aspirin resistance occurred in 39 patients (17.6%).Serum fibrinogen level was higher in patients with than in those without aspirin resistance (2.6_+0.4g/l vs 2.4±0.4g/L,P=0.017).The 2 groups,aspirin resistance group and no aspirin resistance group,did not differ significantly,with regard to gender,age,body mass index,waist-hip ratio,blood pressure level,serum cholesterol level and history of myocardial or cerebral infarction.Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that only serum fibrinogen level entered the model (odds ratio 2.973,p=0.023).Subgroup analysis further showed that aspirin resistance occurred more in male patients with myocardial infarction (50% vs14.5%,P=0.02) and in female patients with diastolic blood pressure=85mmHg (34% vs 15.5%,P=0.043).But after multifactor logistic regression,in women blood pressure=85mmHg was not a predictor any more.Conclusions In patients with metabolic syndrome,aspirin resistance is not uncommon,especially for men with history of myocardial infarction.Patients with aspirin resistance have an increased serum fibrinogen level.(J Geriatr Cardio12008;5:7-10)Zhaoping Liu Yang Yu Yuanjie Mao Xinhua Wang Jianzhong Wang Yong Huo 2008Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2008,5,1:0
14Selection of Reference Genes for Expression Analysis of Kumamoto and Portuguese Oysters and Their Hybrid显示文摘Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR) is a rapid and reliable technique which has been widely used to quantifying gene transcripts(expression analysis). It is also employed for studying heterosis, hybridization breeding and hybrid tolerability of oysters, an ecologically and economically important taxonomic group. For these studies, selection of a suitable set of housekeeping genes as references is crucial for correct interpretation of q RT-PCR data. To identify suitable reference genes for oysters during low temperature and low salinity stresses, we analyzed twelve genes from the gill tissue of Crassostrea sikamea(SS), Crassostrea angulata(AA) and their hybrid(SA), which included three ribosomal genes, 28 S ribosomal protein S5(RPS5), ribosomal protein L35(RPL35), and 60 S ribosomal protein L29(RPL29); three structural genes, tubulin gamma(TUBγ), annexin A6 and A7(AA6 and AA7); three metabolic pathway genes, ornithine decarboxylase(OD), glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH) and glutathione S-transferase P1(GSP); two transcription factors, elongation factor 1 alpha and beta(EF1α and EF1β); and one protein synthesis gene(ubiquitin(UBQ). Primers specific for these genes were successfully developed for the three groups of oysters. Three different algorithms, ge Norm, Norm Finder and Best Keeper, were used to evaluate the expression stability of these candidate genes. Best Keeper program was found to be the most reliable. Based on our analysis, we found that the expression of RPL35 and EF1α was stable under low salinity stress, and the expression of OD, GAPDH and EF1α was stable under low temperature stress in hybrid(SA) oyster; the expression of RPS5 and GAPDH was stable under low salinity stress, and the expression of RPS5, UBQ, GAPDH was stable under low temperature stress in SS oyster; the expression of RPS5, GAPDH, EF1β and AA7 was stable under low salinity stress, and the expression of RPL35, EF1α, GAPDH and EF1β was stable under low temperature stress in AA oyster. Furthermore, to evaluate their suitability, the reference genes were used to quantify six target genes. 15Cell-autonomous effect of cardiomyocyte branched-chain amino acid catabolism in heart failure in mice显示文摘Parallel to major changes in fatty acid and glucose metabolism,defect in branched-chain amino acid(BCAA)catabolism has also been recognized as a metabolic hallmark and potential therapeutic target for heart failure.However,BCAA catabolic enzymes are ubiquitously expressed in all cell types and a systemic BCAA catabolic defect is also manifested in metabolic disorder associated with obesity and diabetes.Therefore,it remains to be determined the cell-autonomous impact of BCAA catabolic defect in cardiomyocytes in intact hearts independent from its potential global effects.In this study,we developed two mouse models.One is cardiomyocyte and temporal-specific inactivation of the E1αsubunit(BCKDHA-cKO)of the branched-chainα-ketoacid dehydrogenase(BCKDH)complex,which blocks BCAA catabolism.Another model is cardiomyocyte specific inactivation of the BCKDH kinase(BCKDK-cKO),which promotes BCAA catabolism by constitutively activating BCKDH activity in adult cardiomyocytes.Functional and molecular characterizations showed E1αinactivation in cardiomyocytes was sufficient to induce loss of cardiac function,systolic chamber dilation and pathological transcriptome reprogramming.On the other hand,inactivation of BCKDK in intact heart does not have an impact on baseline cardiac function or cardiac dysfunction under pressure overload.Our results for the first time established the cardiomyocyte cell autonomous role of BCAA catabolism in cardiac physiology.These mouse lines will serve as valuable model systems to investigate the underlying mechanisms of BCAA catabolic defect induced heart failure and to provide potential insights for BCAA targeted therapy.Jia-yu Yu Nancy Cao Christoph DRau Ro-Po Lee Jieping Yang Rachel JRoth Flach Lauren Petersen Cansheng Zhu Yea-Lyn Pak Russell AMiller Yunxia Liu Yibin Wang Zhaoping Li Haipeng Sun Chen Gao 2023Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2023,44,7:0
