1Effectiveness of Jinying capsule on pelvic inflammatory disease in patients with symptom pattern of damp and heat accumulation: a double-blinded, multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness and safety of Jinying capsule on pelvic inflammatory disease(PID) in patients with symptoms identified as the pattern of damp and heat accumulation in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS: We conducted a double-blinded, multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial which included 155 patients diagnosed with PID and identified as symptom pattern of damp and heat accumulation. They were randomly divided into experimental group(n = 78) and control group(n = 77) according to a random number table. The treatment lasted for a period of 28 d. The experimental group was given Jinying capsules and oral levofloxacin plus oral metronidazole for first 7 d.They continued with Jinying capsules and levofloxacin placebo and metronidazole placebo for another 7 d. For the remaining 14 d, they continued with Jinying capsules only. Whereas, the control group was treated with oral levofloxacin and metronidazole and Jinying capsule placebo for the first 14 d in the same way as the experimental group and then continued with Jinying capsule placebo only for the remaining 14 d. The clinical efficacy was assessed using McCormack scale, TCM symptom pattern scores, physicochemical indexes including white blood cell and erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reaction protein, smear of vaginal discharge,and pelvic ultrasound.RESULTS: Comparing McCormack scale between both groups after treatment, the difference in curative effect between both groups was significant (P = 0.0269). The cure rate of the experimental group and control group is 76.32% and 59.46% respectively at week 4. Comparing TCM symptom pattern scores between both groups before and after treatment, the differences in total effective rate were both significant(P < 0.05). The curative effect rate of experimental group is 2.63% and 13.70% of the control group at week 1(P = 0.0131), and73.33% of the experimental group and 56.94% of the control group at week 4(P = 0.0369). No significant differences were found between the two groups on the Physicochemical indexes(all P >0.05). 2Ecological indicators showing the succession of macrofauna communities in Sonneratia apetala artificial mangrove wetlands on Qi'ao Island at Zhuhai, South China显示文摘The Sonneratia apetala artificial mangroves in the intertidal zone of Da Wei Bay at Qi'ao Island of Zhuhai, South China were chosen as the macrofauna succession plots while bare tidal flats of the same size were established as control plots in surrounding interference-free areas. Conventional change indicators of community structure, such as biomass and biodiversity, and indicators, such as exergy and specific exergy, which reflect the information change of overall communities, were used to analyze the succession of macrofauna communities in S. apetala artificial mangroves. The similarities and differences in variation tendency of the different ecological indicators and their reflected ecological principles were compared. The results showed that from D-1 to D-1275 after planting S. apetala, the biomass of the macrofauna communities first increased, which was then followed by an increase in the network relationship between the macrofauna communities(analysis of the Pielou evenness index and Shannon-Wiener diversity index). The system information(specific exergy) increased the slowest. Between D-1460 and D-2370 after planting S. apetala, there was a decrease in biomass, network structure, and system information in the succession plots. After the decrease in the system information(the specific exergy), there was a decline in the network relationships(Pielou evenness index and Shannon-Wiener diversity index). Biomass was the last indicator to decrease. The similarities and differences among the different ecological indicators varied during the succession process, which reflected the relativity and differences among the indicators. This study suggested that, although the species diversity index can be an effective indicator of two types of changes(network structure and system information), it was quite clear that species diversity measurement was not suitable for expressing the changes in biomass during the succession process. While exergy and specific exergy can provide useful information about the structural development of communities, they cannot identify the information state of the system. 3New molecular method to detect denitrifying anaerobic methane oxidation bacteria from different environmental niches显示文摘The denitrifying anaerobic methane oxidation is an ecologically important process for reducing the potential methane emission into the atmosphere.The responsible bacterium for this process was Candidatus Methylomirabilis oxyfera belonging to the bacterial phylum of NC10.In this study,a new pair of primers targeting all the five groups of NC10 bacteria was designed to amplify NC10 bacteria from different environmental niches.The results showed that the group A was the dominant NC10 phylum bacteria from the sludges and food waste digestate while in paddy soil samples,group A and group B had nearly the same proportion.Our results also indicated that NC10 bacteria could exist in a high p H environment(pH 9.24)from the food waste treatment facility.The Pearson relationship analysis showed that the p H had a significant positive relationship with the NC10 bacterial diversity(p<0.05).The redundancy analysis further revealed that the p H,volatile solid and nitrite nitrogen were the most important factors in shaping the NC10 bacterial structure(p=0.01)based on the variation inflation factors selection and Monte Carlo test(999 times).Results of this study extended the existing molecular tools for studying the NC10 bacterial community structures and provided new information on the ecological distributions of NC10 bacteria.Sai Xu Wenjing Lu Farooq Mustafa Muhammad Yanting Liu Hanwen Guo Ruihong Meng Hongtao Wang 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,3:4
4Design and baseline data of a populationbased metabonomics study of eye diseases in eastern China: the Yueqing Ocular Diseases Investigation显示文摘Background:China is undergoing a massive transition toward an urban and industrial economy.These changes will restructure the demographics and economy which will eventually influence the future patterns of disease.The risk factors of vision-impairing eye diseases remain ambiguous and poorly understood.Metabolomics is an ideal tool to understand and shed light on the ocular disease mechanisms for earlier treatment.This article aims to describe the design,methodology and baseline data of the Yueqing Ocular Diseases Investigation(YODI),a developed county population-based study to determine the prevalence and primary causes of visual impairment;also with metabonomics analysis we aimed to identify,predict and suggest some preventive biomarkers that cause blindness.Methods:A population-based,cross-sectional study.Randomized clustering sampling was used to identify adults aged 50 years and older in Xiangyang Town,Yueqing county-level City.The interviews covered demographic,behavioral,ocular risk factors and mental health state.The ocular examination included visual acuity,autorefraction,intraocular pressure,anterior and posterior segment examinations,fundus photography,retinal tomography and angiography,and visual field testing.Anthropometric measurements included height and weight,waist and hip circumference,blood pressure,pulse rate,electrocardiogram,and abdominal ultrasound scan.A venous blood sample was collected for laboratory tests and metabonomics studies.Results:Of the 5319 individuals recruited for the YODI,4769(89.7%)subjects were enrolled for analyses.The median age was 62.0 years,and 45.6%were male.The educational level of illiteracy or semi-illiteracy,primary,middle and high school or above was 29.8%,45.5%,20.1%,and 3.3%,respectively.Majority of the participants were female,younger,and less educated when compared with nonparticipants.The average body mass index and waist-hip ratios were 24.4±3.4 kg/m^(2) and 0.9±0.1 respectively.Blood sample collection reached a sample size of 1909(479 from subjects with selfreported diabetes and 1430 from one-third of the 4290 subjects without self-reported diabetes).Conclusions:The YODI provides population-based data with a high response rate(89.7%)on the prevalence and primary causes of major vision-impairing eye diseases in developed county areas in eastern China.Metabonomics analysis from YODI will provide further association of metabolic characteristics with the visual impairment eye diseases.The risk prediction model could be created and has the potential to be generalized to developed eastern areas in China for prevention.Yuxuan Deng Yuanbo Liang Sigeng Lin Liang Wen Jin Li Yue Zhou Meixiao Shen Jingwei Zheng Kemi Feng Yanting Sun Kwapong Willaim Robert Jia Qu Fan Lu 2020Eye and Vision2020,7,1:4

9Efficient bright γ-ray vortex emission from a laser-illuminated light-fan-in-channel target显示文摘X/γ-rays have many potential applications in laboratory astrophysics and particle physics.Although several methods have been proposed for generating electron,positron,and X/γ-photon beams with angular momentum(AM),the generation of ultra-intense brilliant γ-rays is still challenging.Here,we present an all-optical scheme to generate a high-energy γ-photon beam with large beam angular momentum(BAM),small divergence,and high brilliance.In the first stage,a circularly polarized laser pulse with intensity of 10^(22) W/cm^(2) irradiates a micro-channel target,drags out electrons from the channel wall,and accelerates them to high energies via the longitudinal electric fields.During the process,the laser transfers its spin angular momentum(SAM)to the electrons’orbital angular momentum(OAM).In the second stage,the drive pulse is reflected by the attached fan-foil and a vortex laser pulse is thus formed.In the third stage,the energetic electrons collide head-on with the reflected vortex pulse and transfer their AM to the γ-photons via nonlinear Compton scattering.Three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations show that the peak brilliance of the γ-ray beam is∼10^(22) photons·s^(-1)·mm^(-2)·mrad^(-2) per 0.1% bandwidth at 1 MeV with a peak instantaneous power of 25 TW and averaged BAM of 10^(6)h/photon.The AM conversion efficiency from laser to the γ-photons is unprecedentedly 0.67%.Hao Zhang Jie Zhao Yanting Hu Qianni Li Yu Lu Yue Cao Debin Zou Zhengming Sheng Francesco Pegoraro Paul McKenna Fuqiu Shao Tongpu Yu 2021High Power Laser Science and Engineering2021,9,3:1
10Evaluation of gas production from multiple coal seams: A simulation study and economics显示文摘Gas production from multiple coal seams has become common practice in many coal basins around the world. Although gas production rates are typically enhanced, the economic viability of such practice is not well studied. In order to investigate the technical and economic feasibility of multiple coal seams production, reservoir simulation integrated with economics modelling was performed to study the effect of important reservoir properties of the secondary coal seam on production and economic performance using both vertical and horizontal wells. The results demonstrated that multiple seam gas production of using both vertical and horizontal wells have competitive advantage over single layer production under most scenarios. Gas content and permeability of the secondary coal seam are the most important reservoir properties that have impact on the economic feasibility of multiple seam gas production. The comparison of vertical well and horizontal well performance showed that horizontal well is more economically attractive for both single well and gas field. Moreover, wellhead price is the most sensitive to the economic performance, followed by operating costs and government subsidy. 12Increasing Anthropogenic Mercury Pollution over the Last 200 Years Revealed by Lagoonal Sediments from Hainan Island,South China显示文摘The toxic heavy metal mercury(Hg)has significantly enhanced the global Hg cycle influenced by human activities over the last century.In this study,we presented a high-resolution Hg deposition history between∼1780 and 2015 AD in a sediment core from Xincun Lagoon,located in the southeastern Hainan Island,South China,and analyzed it in conjunction with geochemical elements,grain-size distribution,organic matter,and HYSPLIT backward trajectory simulation.The objective was to investigate the influencing factors affecting historical Hg deposition in relatively remote regions and assess the extent of the effects of natural background and human activities.The results showed that the Hg in the sediment was deposited primarily through atmospheric deposition,which was closely related to regional and even global human activities.Anthropogenic Hg contamination increased gradually from the 1830s to 1850s,possibly due to Hg emissions from Opium Wars I and II occurring in southeastern China.High broad peaks of anthropogenic Hg were observed during the 1910s to 1950s and in the 1980s,likely associated with the two world wars and modern Chinese wars.In addition,a further sharp increase in anthropogenic Hg from the mid-1970s to the present occurred,likely originating from the intense industrial activities in China triggered by the reform and opening-up policy of China in 1978 and some countries in Southeast Asia.LI Yanting XUE Jibin CHEN Jingqiang LU Yi MA Xinlu 2023Chinese Geographical Science2023,33,6:0
13Laser chirp controlled relativistic few-cycle mid-infrared pulse generation显示文摘Relativistic few-cycle mid-infrared(mid-IR)pulses are unique tools for strong-field physics and ultrafast science,but are difficult to generate with traditional nonlinear optical methods.Here,we propose a scheme to generate such pulses with high efficiency via plasma-based frequency modulation with a negatively chirped laser pulse(NCLP).The NCLP is rapidly compressed longitudinally due to dispersion and plasma etching,and its central frequency is downshifted via photon deceleration due to the enhanced laser intensity and plasma density modulations.Simulation results show that few-cycle mid-IR pulses with the maximum center wavelength of 7.9µm and pulse intensity of a_(MIR)=2.9 can be generated under a proper chirp parameter.Further,the maximum energy conversion efficiency can approach 5.0%.Such a relativistic mid-IR source is promising for a wide range of applications.Dongao Li Guobo Zhang Jie Zhao Yanting Hu Yu Lu Hao Zhang Qianni Li Dongze Zhang Rong Sha Fuqiu Shao Zhengming Sheng Tongpu Yu 2023High Power Laser Science and Engineering2023,11,5:0
14Morphological and histological changes in the brains of turbot(Scophthalmus maximus)with gonadal development显示文摘The brain plays a critical role in controlling reproduction through the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal(HPG)axis in vertebrates.Turbot(Scophthalmus maximus)has become an economically important marine fish in Europe and North China.Previous research investigating turbot reproduction has focused on the role of the HPG axis in regulating egg and sperm production.However,the morphology and histology of the organs in the HPG axis have not been studied.In this study,we investigated the morphology and histology of brains in female and male turbot at different stages of gonadal development.The results showed that the brains of both female and male turbot were composed of seven parts that are typical of advanced teleosts:the telencephalon,diencephalon,cerebellum,hypothalamus,pituitary gland,myelencephalon,and olfactory bulbs.The telencephalon was well-developed and contained five distinct lobes,with the contiguous diencephalon at the caudal portion.The torus longitudinales and rostral torus semicircularis of the mesencephalon flattened along the dorsal surface,and the rostral corpus cerebellum was located in the dorsal portion.The actual total brain volume in mature males was significantly greater(p<0.05)than that of females with gonadal development.Notably,the pituitary volume in male turbot significantly increased(p<0.05)from immature to mature stage,but this difference did not occur in females.The data together illustrate a distinct sex difference in the turbot brain during gonadal development,providing insight into their HPG axes.Chunyan Zhao Liang Chi Yongshuang Xiao Bing Li Yunliang Lu Yanting Cui Wenqi Wang Jun Li 2022Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,12:0

16Removing Random-Valued Impulse Noises by a Two-Staged Nonlinear Filtering Method显示文摘Digital images are frequently contaminated by impulse noise(IN)during acquisition and transmission.The removal of this noise from images is essential for their further processing.In this paper,a two-staged nonlinear filtering algorithm is proposed for removing random-valued impulse noise(RVIN)from digital images.Noisy pixels are identified and corrected in two cascaded stages.The statistics of two subsets of nearest neighbors are employed as the criterion for detecting noisy pixels in the first stage,while directional differences are adopted as the detector criterion in the second stage.The respective adaptive median values are taken as the replacement values for noisy pixels in each stage.The performance of the proposed method was compared with that of several existing methods.The experimental results show that the performance of the suggested algorithm is superior to those of the compared methods in terms of noise removal,edge preservation,and processing time.Ahmad Ashfaq Lu Yanting 2016Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2016,33,3:0
17Discovery of a subtype-selective, covalent inhibitor against palmitoylation pocket of TEAD3显示文摘The TEA domain(TEAD)family proteins(TEAD1-4)are essential transcription factors that control cell differentiation and organ size in the Hippo pathway.Although the sequences and structures of TEAD family proteins are highly conserved,each TEAD isoform has unique physiological and pathological functions.Therefore,the development and discovery of subtype selective inhibitors for TEAD protein will provide important chemical probes for the TEAD-related function studies in development and diseases.Here,we identified a novel TEAD 1/3 covalent inhibitor(DC-TEADin1072)with biochemical IC50 values of 0.61±0.02 and 0.58±0.12μmol/L against TEAD1 and TEAD3,respectively.Further chemical optimization based on DC-TEAD in 1072 yielded a selective TEAD3 inhibitor DCTEAD3 in03 with the IC_(50) value of 0.16±0.03μmol/L,which shows 100-fold selectivity over other TEAD isoforms in activity-based protein profiling(ABPP)assays.In cells,DC-TEAD3 in03 showed selective inhibitory effect on TEAD3 in GAL4-TEAD(1-4)reporter assays with the IC50 value of1.15μmol/L.When administered to zebrafish juveniles,experiments showed that DC-TEAD3 in03 reduced the growth rate of zebrafish caudal fins,indicating the importance of TEAD3 activity in controlling proportional growth of vertebrate appendages.Tian Lu Yong Li Wenchao Lu TWGM Spitters Xueyu Fang Jun Wang Simian Cai Jing Gao Yanting Zhou Zhe Duan Huan Xiong Liping Liu Qi Li Hualiang Jiang Kaixian Chen Hu Zhou Hua Lin Huijin Feng Bing Zhou Christopher L.Antos Cheng Luo 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,10:0

19Pyrocincholic acid 3β-O-β-D-quinovopyranosyl-28-O-β-Dglucopyranoside suppresses adipogenesis and regulates lipid metabolism in 3T3-L1 adipocytes显示文摘Obesity is crucially involved in many metabolic diseases,such as type 2 diabetes,cardiovascular disease and cancer.Regulating the number or size of adipocytes has been suggested to be a potential treatment for obesity.In this study,we investigated the effect of pyrocincholic acid 3β-O-β-D-quinovopyranosyl-28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(PAQG),a 27-nor-oleanolic acid saponin extracted from Metadina trichotoma,on adipogenesis and lipid metabolism in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.The 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes were incubated with vehicle or PAQG for 6 days in differentiation process.PAQG significantly reduced the adipogenesis,adiponectin secretion and the expression level of key transcription factors related to adipogenesis,such as PPARc,C/EBPb,C/EBPa,and FABP4.Moreover,PAQG increased the levels of FFA and glycerol in medium and reduced TG level in mature adipocytes.Interestingly,PAQG not only promoted the activation of AMPK and genes involved in fatty oxidation including PDK4 and CPT1a,but also inhibited those genes involved in fatty acid biosynthesis,such as SREBP1c,FAS,ACCa and SCD1.In conclusion,PAQG inhibits the differentiation and regulates lipid metabolism of 3T3-L1 cells via AMPK pathway,suggesting that PAQG may be a novel and promising natural product for the treatment of obesity and hyperlipidemia.Li Peng Yanting Lu Yuhui Xu Jing Hu Fang Wang Yumei Zhang Wenyong Xiong 2017Natural Products and Bioprospecting2017,7,3:0
