1TiO_2/Schwertmannite nanocomposites as superior co-catalysts in heterogeneous photo-Fenton process显示文摘The heterogeneous photo-Fenton reaction is an effective technique in combating organic contaminants for both soil and water remediation,and extensive studies have focused on enhancing its efficiency and reducing its costs.In this work,we developed novel photoFenton catalysts by simply milling commercially available TiO_2(P25)with Schwertmannite(Sh),a natural iron-oxyhydroxysulfate nanomineral.We expect that the photo-generated electrons from TiO_2could continuously migrate to Sh,which then could enhance the separation of electron-hole pairs on TiO_2and accelerate the reduction of Fe(III)to Fe(II)on Sh,leading to high degradation efficiency of the target organic contaminants.SEM and TEM results showed the distribution of TiO_2on Sh surface for the nanocomposites(TiO_2/Sh).Under simulated sunlight irradiation,the much higher content of Fe(II)was determined on TiO_2/Sh than on Sh via a common method in the iron ore,and the consumption of H_2O_2and the production of·OH were more significant in the TiO_2/Sh system than those in the TiO_2and Sh systems.These results well support our hypothesis that the photo-generated electrons could migrate from TiO_2to Sh on the composites,and can also explain the much higher degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B(RhB)in the TiO_2/Sh system.Besides,TiO_2/Sh had lower Fe dissolution as compared with Sh,and retained high catalytic stability after four repeated cycles.Above merits of the TiO_2/Sh composites,in combining with their simple synthesis method and low-cost property,indicated that they should have promising applications as heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalysts.Yanping Zhu Chun Zeng Runliang Zhu Yin Xu Xingyan Wang Huijun Zhou Jianxi Zhu Hongping He 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,6:5

9Abnormal gonad development in Kit^(W-2Bao) mice caused by a Kit gene missense mutation显示文摘KitW-2Bao mice are single-gene autosomal dominant mutation mice with a B6 background that were bred in our laboratory. Heterozygotes had morphological characteristics including albinism of the abdomen, extremities, and tail, whereas the homozygotes had albinism of the body, black eyes, and infertility. The homozygous mutants showed small, structurally abnormal gonads, and lacked germ cells. Heterozygous male mice lacked germ cells in some contorted seminiferous tubules. This mutation has been mapped at 43.8 cM from the centromere in chromosome 5 by linkage analysis and Kit has been identified as the candidate gene. After Kit full-length mRNA amplification, it was found that a G to T conversion at position 1228 in the ORF changed the 410th amino acid from V to F. This amino acid change could affect the protein’s secondary structure. Heterozygous mutant mice were intercrossed and homozygous mutant mice were bred and genotyped. We found that no primordial germ cells (PGCs) appeared in the urogenital ridge area at fetus day 11.5 in the homozygotes. The number of PGCs also significantly decreased in heterozygotes. At fetus day 15.5, the differentiation of the testis tubule structure was unclear; as well, they contained no spermatogonia. Female homozygotes contained no primordial follicles in the ovary. The numbers of PGCs and primordial follicles were significantly decreased in heterozygous mice. 11Tracing drug release process with dual-modal hyperbranched polymer-gold nanoparticle complexes显示文摘Dual-modal surface enhanced Raman spectrum(SERS)-fluorescence polymer/metal hybrid complexes have been prepared for tracing drug release process in tumor cells. Firstly, the hyperbranched poly((S-(4-vinyl) benzyl S′-propyltrithiocarbonate)-co-(poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate))(HPVBEG) was synthesized via the combination of reversible addition-fragmentation chain-transfer(RAFT) polymerization and self-condensing vinyl polymerization(SCVP). Subsequently, the anticancer drug doxorubicin(DOX) was linked to HPVBEG via pH sensitive Schiff base bonds to form HPVBEG-g-DOX conjugates.Through aminolysis reaction, HPVBEG-g-DOX was coordinated with gold nanoparticles(GNP), resulting in the formation of HPVBEG-g-DOX/GNP complexes. In neutral condition, the HPVBEG-g-DOX/GNP complexes were stable, and DOX was bound to the surface of GNPs. Therefore, the SERS of DOX could be observed, while the fluorescence of DOX was quenched by GNPs. Under an acidic environment, DOX was released from the surface of GNPs with breakage of Schiff base bonds.Thus, the SERS signal of DOX was gradually reduced. Correspondingly, the fluorescence signal of DOX was enhanced.Through dual-modal SERS-fluorescence technique, the DOX delivery and release process was traced in tumor cells. Moreover,the viability of MCF-7 cells incubated with HPVBEG-g-DOX/GNP complexes was investigated by Cell Counting Kit-8(CCK-8) assay. The experimental results showed that HPVBEG-g-DOX/GNP complexes had similar proliferation inhibition effect compared with free DOX.
