| 1 | China's regional transport dominance: Density, proximity, and accessibility显示文摘Transport infrastructure plays an important role in shaping the configuration of spatial socio-economic structures and influences regional accessibility.This paper defines transport dominance from three aspects:quality,quantity,and advantage,measured by density,proximity,and accessibility indices.County is the basic unit for analysis.The results reveal:(1)Transport dominance statistically follows a partial normal distribution.A very few counties,1.4%of the total,have extremely high transport dominance which strongly supports the socio-economic development in these areas.In contrast,one eighth of all counties have poor transport dominance which impedes local socio-economic development to some extent. The remaining areas,about 70%of the counties,have median transport dominance.(2) Transport dominance is spatially unevenly distributed,with values decreasing gradually from the coastal area to the inland area.Areas in the first-highest level of transport dominance are mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta,the Greater Beijing area,and the Pearl River Delta.Areas in the second-highest level are focused in Chengdu,Chongqing,and Wuhan metropolitan areas.Provincial capitals and a few other counties belong to the third-highest level. | JIN Fengjun WANG Chengjin LI Xiuwei WANG Jiao'e | 2010 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2010,20,2: | 58 |
| 2 | Major accident analysis and prevention of coal mines in China from the year of 1949 to 2009显示文摘From the year of 1949 to the present, the China national coal output has been increasing quickly and became first in the world in 2009. But at the same time, major coal mining accidents still exist nowadays. In order to review the overall situation and provide information on major accidents of coal mines in China, we investigated 26 major coal mining accidents in China between the years of 1949 and 2009 through statistical methods, each of which led to more than 100 fatalities. Statistical characteristics about accident-related factors such as time, death toll, accident reasons, characters and nature of enterprise were analyzed. And some special conclusions have been achieved. For example, although we have made great progress, the safety situation in China coal mining industry is still serious, and the reasons for the mining accidents are all human errors which are not inevitable. Such results may be helpful to prevent major accidents in coal mines. Moreso, based on both the knowledge of other countries which have good safety situation nowadays and the safety management situation of China, we made suggestion on safety management of China coal mining. | 3 | Crustal Structure Revealed by a Deep Seismic Sounding Profile of Baijing-Gaoming-Jinwan in the Pearl River Delta显示文摘The Pearl River Estuary area, located in the middle part of the southern China coastal seismic belt, has long been considered a potential source of strong earthquakes above magnitude 7.0. To scientifically assess the potential strong earthquake risk in this area, a three-dimensional artificial seismic sounding experiment, consisting of a receiving array and seabed seismograph, was performed to reveal the deep crustal structure in this region. We used artificial ship-borne air-gun excitation shots as sources, and fixed and mobile stations as receivers to record seismic data from May to August 2015. This paper presents results along a line from the western side of the Pearl River Estuary to the western side of the Baijing-Gaoming-Jinwan profile. A two-dimensional velocity structure was constructed using seismic travel-time tomography. The inversion results show that the Moho depth is 27 km in the coastal area and 30 km in the northwest of the Pearl River Estuary area, indicating that the crust thins from land to sea. Two structural discontinuities and multiple low-velocity anomalies appear in the crustal section. Inside both discontinuity zones, a low-velocity layer, with a minimum velocity of 6.05 km s^(-1), exists at a depth of about 15 km, and another, with a minimum velocity of 6.37 km s^(-1), exists at a depth of about 21.5 km between the middle and lower crust. These low velocities suggest that the discontinuities may consist of partly molten material. Earthquakes with magnitudes higher than 5.0 occurred in the low-velocity layer along the profile. | 6 | Source-to-sink of Late carboniferous Ordos Basin: Constraints on crustal accretion margins converting to orogenic belts bounding the North China Block显示文摘The Upper Carboniferous Benxi Formation of the Ordos Basin is the lowest strata overlying Middle Ordovician above the major ca.150-Myr sedimentary gap that characterizes the entire North China Block(NCB).We apply an integrated analysis of stratigraphy,petrography,and U-Pb dates and Hf isotopes on detrital zircons to investigate its provenance and relationships to the progressive collisions that formed the Xing’an-Mongolia Orogenic Belt to the north and the Qinling Orogenic Belt to the south.The results show that,in addition to regional patterns of siliciclastic influx from these new uplifted sources,the Benxi Formation is composed of two sequences corresponding to long-term glacial-interglacial cycles during the Moscovian to lower Gzhelian stages which drove global changes of eustatic sea level and weathering.The spatio-temporal distribution of sediment isopachs and facies indicate there were two sediment-infilling pulses,during which the southern and the northern Ordos Basin developed tidal-reworked deltas.The age spectra from detrital zircons,trace element patterns and εNd(t)values reveal that the siliciclastics forming the southern delta was sourced in the Qinling Orogenic Belt,whereas the northern delta was derived from the Xing’an-Mongolia Orogenic Belt.The source-to-sink evolution of this Upper Paleozoic system records the progressive development of orogenic belts and uplifts forming on the southern and northern margins of the NCB prior to its collisions with the South China and the Siberian plates,respectively. | Anqing Chen Hao Zou James G.Ogg Shuai Yang Mingcai Hou Xiuwei Jiang Shenglin Xu Xiaoxing Zhang | 2020 | Geoscience Frontiers2020,11,6: | 3 |

| 8 | Interpretation of the west segment of the coastal fault zone in the coastal region of South China based on the gravity data显示文摘By systemic processing, comprehensive analysis, and interpretation of gravity data, we confirmed the existence of the west segment of the coastal fault zone(west of Yangjiang to Beibu Bay) in the coastal region of South China. This showed an apparent high gravity gradient in the NEE direction, and worse linearity and less compactness than that in the Pearl River month. This also revealed a relatively large curvature and a complicated gravity structure. In the finding images processed by the gravity data system, each fault was well reflected and primarily characterized by isolines or thick black stripes with a cutting depth greater than 30 km. Though mutually cut by NW-trending and NE-trending faults, the apparent NEE stripe-shaped structure of the west segment of the coastal fault zone remained unchanged,with good continuity and an activity strength higher than that of NW and NE-trending faults. | 9 | NOx Emission Reduction Technology for Marine Engine Based on Tier-Ⅲ:A Review显示文摘The development of maritime trade has greatly promoted the development of diesel engines.However,with the increasingly serious environmental problems,more and more attention has been paid to the exhaust emissions of high-power marine diesel engines.The restrictions on SOx have been implemented globally,and the limitation of the NO,will be the next priority.This paper illustrates(a)Principle and research progress of NOx emissions-reduction technology of marine diesel engine;(b)Summary of advantages and disadvantages among various reduction technologies and their reduction effects;(c)The application effect of mainstream technology on board.Firstly,since exhaust gas recirculation(EGR)can achieve Tier-Ⅲ directly from Tier-Ⅰ without considering the increased fuel consumption.It is deemed as the most promising technology to reduce emissions by controlling combustion condition.However,EGR has shortcomings of excessive increase in ftiel consumption and generation of waste water,which need to be solved immediately.Secondly,selective catalytic reduction(SCR)is the most effective and straightforward means to achieve Tier-Ⅲ.Despite of the continuous optimization of SCR unit volume,the problem of scrap catalyst seriously limits its wide application.How to match the supercharger more efficiently is a key factor in choosing between high and low pressure SCR.Thirdly,nature gas(NG)engines are capable of achieving a reduction in NOx,but in order to meet the requirements of Tier-Ⅲ,it still needs to be assisted by other technologies.The emissions of hydrocarbon(HC)and CO in NG engines are huge defects that must be solved.Lastly,technologies such as the Miller cycle,Two-stage supercharging and mixed-water combustion can also reduce emissions but were rarely used alone.These technologies can be combined with EGR,SCR and NG engines to optimize the enginesJ economy and emission characteristics. | LU Xiuwei GENG Peng CHEN Yunyue | 2020 | Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,5: | 2 |
| 10 | Condensation of STM is critical for shoot meristem maintenance and salt tolerance in Arabidopsis显示文摘The shoot meristem generates the entire shoot system and is precisely maintained throughout the life cycle under various environmental challenges.In this study,we identified a prion-like domain(PrD)in the key shoot meristem regulator SHOOT MERISTEMLESS(STM),which distinguishes STM from other related KNOX1 proteins.We demonstrated that PrD stimulates STM to form nuclear condensates,which are required for maintaining the shoot meristem.STM nuclear condensate formation is stabilized by selected PrD-containing STM-interacting BELL proteins in vitro and in vivo.Moreover,condensation of STM promotes its interaction with the Mediator complex subunit MED8 and thereby enhances its transcriptional activity.Thus,condensate formation emerges as a novel regulatory mechanism of shoot meristem functions.Furthermore,we found that the formation of STM condensates is enhanced upon salt stress,which allows enhanced salt tolerance and increased shoot branching.Our findings highlight that the transcription factor partitioning plays an important role in cell fate determination and might also act as a tunable environmental acclimation mechanism. | Xiuwei Cao Qingwei Du Yahe Guo Ying Wang Yuling Jiao | 2023 | Molecular Plant2023,16,9: | 2 |
| 11 | The impact of UV treatment on microbial control and DBPs formation in full-scale drinking water systems in northern China显示文摘To manage potential microbial risks and meet increasingly strict drinking water health standards,UV treatment has attracted increasing attention for use in drinking water systems in China.However,the effects of UV treatment on microbial control and disinfection byproducts(DBPs)formation in real municipal drinking water systems are poorly understood.Here,we collected water samples from three real drinking water systems in Beijing and Tianjin to investigate the impacts of UV treatment on microbial control and DBP formation.We employed heterotrophic plate count(HPC),flow cytometry(FCM),quantitative PCR analysis,and high-throughput sequencing to measure microorganisms in the samples.Different trends were observed between HPC and total cell count(measured by FCM),indicating that a single indicator could not reflect the real degree of biological re-growth in drinking water distribution systems(DWDSs).A significant increase in the 16S rRNA gene concentration was observed when the UV system was stopped.Besides,the bacterial community composition was similar at the phylum level but differed markedly at the genera level among the three DWDSs.Some chlorine-resistant bacteria,including potential pathogens(e.g.,Acinetobacter)showed a high relative abundance when the UV system was turned off.It can be concluded that UV treatment can mitigate microbial re-growth to some extent.Finally,UV treatment had a limited influence on the formation of DBPs,including trihalomethanes,haloacetic acids,and nitrogenated DBPs.The findings of this study may help to understand the performance of UV treatment in real drinking water systems. | Xiuwei Ao Zhongyun Chen Simiao Li Chen Li Zedong Lu Wenjun Sun | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1: | 2 |

| 14 | RhizoVision Crown:An Integrated Hardware and Software Platform for Root Crown Phenotyping显示文摘Root crown phenotyping measures the top portion of crop root systems and can be used for marker-assisted breeding,genetic mapping,and understanding how roots influence soil resource acquisition.Several imaging protocols and image analysis programs exist,but they are not optimized for high-throughput,repeatable,and robust root crown phenotyping.The RhizoVision Crown platform integrates an imaging unit,image capture software,and image analysis software that are optimized for reliable extraction of measurements from large numbers of root crowns.The hardware platform utilizes a backlight and a monochrome machine vision camera to capture root crown silhouettes.The RhizoVision Imager and RhizoVision Analyzer are free,open-source software that streamline image capture and image analysis with intuitive graphical user interfaces.The RhizoVision Analyzer was physically validated using copper wire,and features were extensively validated using 10,464 groundtruth simulated images of dicot and monocot root systems.This platform was then used to phenotype soybean and wheat root crowns.A total of 2,799 soybean(Glycine max)root crowns of 187 lines and 1,753 wheat(Triticum aestivum)root crowns of 186 lines were phenotyped.Principal component analysis indicated similar correlations among features in both species.The maximum heritability was 0.74 in soybean and 0.22 in wheat,indicating that differences in species and populations need to be considered.The integrated RhizoVision Crown platform facilitates high-throughput phenotyping of crop root crowns and sets a standard by which open plant phenotyping platforms can be benchmarked. | Anand Seethepalli Haichao Guo Xiuwei Liu Marcus Griffiths Hussien Almtarfi Zenglu Li Shuyu Liu Alina Zare Felix B.Fritschi Elison B.Blancaflor Xue-Feng Ma Larry M.York | 2020 | Plant Phenomics2020,2,1: | 2 |
