Failure mechanism and coupled static-dynamic loading theory in deep hard rock mining: A review显示文摘Rock failure phenomena, such as rockburst, slabbing(or spalling) and zonal disintegration, related to deep underground excavation of hard rocks are frequently reported and pose a great threat to deep mining.Currently, the explanation for these failure phenomena using existing dynamic or static rock mechanics theory is not straightforward. In this study, new theory and testing method for deep underground rock mass under coupled static-dynamic loading are introduced. Two types of coupled loading modes,i.e.'critical static stress + slight disturbance' and 'elastic static stress + impact disturbance',are proposed, and associated test devices are developed.Rockburst phenomena of hard rocks under coupled static-dynamic loading are successfully reproduced in the laboratory, and the rockburst mechanism and related criteria are demonstrated. The results of true triaxial unloading compression tests on granite and red sandstone indicate that the unloading can induce slabbing when the confining pressure exceeds a certain threshold, and the slabbing failure strength is lower than the shear failure strength according to the conventional Mohr-Column criterion.Numerical results indicate that the rock unloading failure response under different in situ stresses and unloading rates can be characterized by an equivalent strain energy density. In addition,we present a new microseismic source location method without premeasuring the sound wave velocity in rock mass, which can efficiently and accurately locate the rock failure in hard rock mines. Also,a new idea for deep hard rock mining using a non-explosive continuous mining method is briefly introduced. | Xibing Li Fengqiang Gong Ming Tao Longjun Dong Kun Du Chunde Ma Zilong Zhou Tubing Yin | 2017 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2017,9,4: | 68
Crustal structure of the northwestern sub-basin, South China Sea: Results from a wide-angle seismic experiment显示文摘The crustal structure of the northwestern sub-basin area of the South China Sea was modeled by inverting a wide-angle seismic survey line across the entire region and on both sides of its bounding continental margins. The survey line extended over 484 km. A total of 14 Ocean Bottom Seismometers (OBS) were deployed at intervals of 30 km to record air-gun array sources with a combined volume of 5160 in 3 . The crustal velocity structure of the northwestern sub-basin area was acquired through the integration of multi-channel seismic data. OBS data were processed and modeled initially using ray tracing inversion techniques. Results indicate that crustal thickness under the continental slope decreases from 21 to 11 km, crustal thickness of the northwestern sub-basin is 7.7 km, and the depth to the Moho ascends from 21 km under the upper continental slope to 11 km under the middle basin. The crust of the northwestern sub-basin is similar to that of the eastern sub-basin in its oceanic crustal structure. This structure has a thicker layer 1 (sedimentary layer) and a thinner layer 2. These characteristics are especially clear in the eastern sub-basin, which differs somewhat from typical oceanic crust. The tectonic geometry and velocity structure of the northwestern sub-basin and its margins comprise a symmetrical conjugate and indicate a pure shear mode with regard to the continental margin rifting mechanism. We did not find clear seismic signals from high velocity layers under the lower crust of the continental margin in the northern part of the northwestern sub-basin, which provides new evidence for the idea that the western part of the northern continental margin of the South China Sea constitutes nonvolcanic crust. Because the seafloor spreading period of the northwestern sub-basin was short, layer 2 might have experienced asymmetrical basalt magma flows, which may have blurred the magnetic anomaly lineations of the northwestern sub-basin. | WU ZhenLi LI JiaBiao RUAN AiGuo LOU Hai DING WeiWei NIU XiongWei LI XiBing | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,1: | 19
Comparison and significance of specific and non-specific cellular immunity in patients with chronic hepatitis B caused by infection with genotypes B or C of hepatitis B virus显示文摘The present study was designed to investigate possible relationships between the genotypes of hepatitis B virus(HBV) and the HBV-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTL) responses.HBV genotypes,HBV specific CTL HBV DNA and other markers of HBV infection were determined in 138 patients with chronic hepatitis B.The results showed that the patients infected with genotype C(n=62) had a significantly lower HBV-specific CTL response than those who were infected with HBV genotype B(P<0.01).HBV DNA titer was higher in patients infected with HBV genotype C than in those infected with HBV geno-type B(P<0.01).Both alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and total bilirubin(TBIL) were higher in HBV genotype C infected patients than in those infected with genotype B(P<0.01 and <0.05,respectively).These results suggest that compared with CHB patients infected with HBV genotype B,the higher HBV DNA level and more severe liver damages in the patients infected with genotype C of HBV may be associated with genotype C of the virus. | GU XiBing,YANG XiaoJuan,WANG Dong,HUA Zhong,WU HangYuan,CHEN HaoKun,XU YueQin & LU ZhongHua Wuxi Hospital for Infectious Diseases,Wuxi 214005,China | 2009 | Science China(Life Sciences)2009,52,8: | 16
Identifcation of large-scale goaf instability in underground mine using particle swarm optimization and support vector machine显示文摘An approach which combines particle swarm optimization and support vector machine(PSO–SVM)is proposed to forecast large-scale goaf instability(LSGI).Firstly, influencing factors of goaf safety are analyzed, and following parameters were selected as evaluation indexes in the LSGI:uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of rock, elastic modulus(E)of rock, rock quality designation(RQD),area ration of pillar(Sp),the ratio of width to height of the pillar(w/h),depth of ore body(H),volume of goaf(V),dip of ore body(a)and area of goaf(Sg).Then LSGI forecasting model by PSO-SVM was established according to the influencing factors. The performance of hybrid model(PSO+SVM=PSO–SVM)has been compared with the grid search method of support vector machine(GSM–SVM)model. The actual data of 40 goafs are applied to research the forecasting ability of the proposed method, and two cases of underground mine are also validated by the proposed model. The results indicated that the heuristic algorithm of PSO can speed up the SVM parameter optimization search, and the predictive ability of the PSO–SVM model with the RBF kernel function is acceptable and robust, which might hold a high potential to become a useful tool in goaf risky prediction research. | Zhou Jian Li Xibing Hani S.Mitri Wang Shiming Wei Wei | 2013 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,5: | 14

Mechanical properties of rock under coupled static-dynamic loads显示文摘Rock drilling machine,INSTRON testing system, and SHPB device are updated to investigate the characteristics of rocks at great depth, with high loads from overburden, tectonic stresses and dynamic impacts due to blasting and boring. It is verified that these testing systems can be used to study the mechanical properties of rock material under coupled static and dynamic loading condition and give useful guidance for the deep mining and underground cavern excavation.Various tests to determine the rock strength, fragmentation behavior, and energy absorption were conducted using the updated testing systems. It is shown that under coupled static-dynamic loads,if the axial prestress is lower than its elastic limit, the rock strength is higher than the individual static or dynamic strength. At the same axial prestress, rock strength under coupled loads rises with the increasing strain rates.Under coupled static and dynamic loads, rock is observed to fail with tensile mode. While shear failure may exist if axial prestress is high enough. In addition,it is shown that the percentage of small particles increases with the increasing axial prestress and impact load based on the analysis of the particle-size distribution of fragments. It is also suggested that the energy absorption ratio of a specimen varies with coupled loads, and the maximum energy absorption ratio for a rock can be obtained with an appropriate combination of static and dynamic loads. | Xibing Li Zilong Zhou Fujun Zhao Yujun Zuo Chunde Ma Zhouyuan Ye Liang Hong | 2009 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2009,1,1: | 8
Genomic insights into the fast growth of paulownias and the formation of Paulownia witches' broom显示文摘Paulownias are among the fastest growing trees in the world, but they often suffer tremendous loss of wood production due to infection by Paulownia witches'broom(PaWB)phytoplasmas. In this study,we have sequenced and assembled a high-quality nuclear genome of Paulownia fortunei,a commonly cultivated paulownia species. The assembled genome of P.fortunei is 511.6 Mb in size, with 93.2%of its sequences anchored to 20 pseudo-chromosomes,and it contains 31985 protein-coding genes.Phylogenomic analyses show that the family Paulowniaceae is sister to a clade composed of Phrymaceae and Orobanchaceae.Higher photosynthetic efficiency is achieved by integrating C3 photosynthesis and the crassulacean acid metabolism pathway, which may contribute to the extremely fast growth habit of paulownia trees.Comparative transcriptome analyses reveal modules related to cambial growth and development, photosynthesis, and defense responses.Additional genome sequencing of PaWB phytoplasma, combined with functional analyses, indicates that the effector PaWB-SAP54 interacts directly with Paulownia PfSPLa,which in turn causes the degradation of PfSPLa by the ubiquitin-mediated pathway and leads to the formation of witches'broom.Taken together, these results provide significant insights into the biology of paulownias and the regulatory mechanism for the formation of PaWB. | Yabing Cao Guiling Sun Xiaoqiao Zhai Pingluo Xu Liming Ma Minjie Deng Zhenli Zhao Haibo Yang Yanpeng Dong Zhonghai Shang Yujie Lv Lijun Yan Haifang Liu Xibing Cao Bingbing Li Zhe Wang Xiaogai Zhao Haiyan Yu Fan Wang Wen Ma Jinling Huang Guoqiang Fan | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,10: | 7
Numerical investigation on the tensile fracturing behavior of rock-shotcrete interface based on discrete element method显示文摘Four groups of numerical models of Brazilian tests on rock-shotcrete interfaces were successfully conducted by PFC2D. The tensile strength and Young’s modulus of shotcrete were considered. Six different undulations of rock-shotcrete interface were set up. The influences of multiple parameters on the bearing characteristics of the rock-shotcrete interface were studied. The results showed that a better support performance can be obtained by increasing the Young’s modulus of shotcrete rather than the tensile strength of shotcrete. For different tensile strength and Young’s modulus, the increase of sawtooth height has different effects on the support performance. The failure mechanism of the rock-shotcrete interfaces was analysed in detail. The stress shielding effect and stress concentration effect caused by the shape characteristics of rock-shotcrete interface were observed. The influence of these parameters on the overall support performance should be fully considered in a reasonable support design. | Jiadong Qiu Lin Luo Xibing Li Diyuan Li Ying Chen Yong Luo | 2020 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2020,30,3: | 6

Dynamic mechanical properties and wave propagation of composite rock-mortar specimens based on SHPB tests显示文摘Filled inclusions in rock discontinuities play a key role in the mechanical characteristics of the rock and thereby influence the stability of rock engineering. In this study, a series of impact tests were performed using a split Hopkinson pressure bar system with high-speed photography to investigate the effect of interlayer strength on the wave propagation and fracturing process in composite rock-mortar specimens. The results indicate that the transmission coefficient, nominal dynamic strength, interlayer closure, and specific normal stiffness generally increase linearly with increasing interlayer stiffness. The cement mortar layer can serve as a buffer during the deformation of composite specimens. The digital images show that tensile cracks are typically initiated at the rock-mortar interface, propagate along the loading direction, and eventually result in a tensile failure regardless of the interlayer properties. However, when a relatively weaker layer is sandwiched between the rock matrix, an increasing amount of cement mortar is violently ejected and slight slabbing occurs near the rock-mortar interface. | Zhenyu Han Diyuan Li Xibing Li | 2022 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,4: | 4
REFLECTION AND REFRACTION OF STRESS WAVES AT A STRUCTURAL WEAKNESS PLANE IN ROCK MASS显示文摘In the case or wave interactions with structural weakness planes in rook mass the results of reflection and refraction of waves at entirely cohesive boundaries have been used all along. But,oblique incidences of compressive stress waves at the structural weakness plane may result in relative slippage of rocks on both sides of the plane. The authors have derived the reflection and refraction coefficients for plane stress waves generated by blasting incidents on the structural weakness plane in rook mass according to its special boundary condition. The formula of energy dissipation and some computational results at the structural weakness plane are obtained. On the above basis, some problems about rook and soil engineering are discussed. | Li Xibing Lai Haihui Gu Desheng | 1992 | Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China1992,2,1: | 4
Study on determining of reinforced concrete false roof strength and design of reinforcement based on reliability theory显示文摘Study on efficient mining of the steep incline and fractured ore-bodies in Yongshaba mine of Guizhou Kailin Group shows that ore-body is fractured and difficult to support the roadways in-vein.After research of the actual conditions about the ore-bodies,we have made the initial decision to adopt reconstruction of roof downward sublevel cut-and-fill mining. The men work safely under the false roof supporting the top plate. However, the difficult problem is how to determine the strength of the false roof.In this case, the method based on reliability theory has been put forward.Combined with elastic mechanics and field practice, when practical value of reliable probability is 90 %,the value of the false roof strength has been calculated, and the study shows that stope span greatly influences the false roof strength. With the strength of artificial roof, the reasonable reinforcement design ensures the false roof which can supply the demand of strength under large span and load. | Fan Wenlu Li Xibing Hu Guohong | 2012 | Engineering Sciences2012,10,5: | 2
