1Dynamic Performance of High Speed Solenoid Valve with Parallel Coils显示文摘The methods of improving the dynamic performance of high speed on/off solenoid valve include increasing the magnetic force of armature and the slew rate of coil current, decreasing the mass and stroke of moving parts. The increase of magnetic force usually leads to the decrease of current slew rate, which could increase the delay time of the dynamic response of solenoid valve. Using a high voltage to drive coil can solve this contradiction, but a high driving voltage can also lead to more cost and a decrease of safety and reliability. In this paper, a new scheme of parallel coils is investigated, in which the single coil of solenoid is replaced by parallel coils with same ampere turns. Based on the mathematic model of high speed solenoid valve, the theoretical formula for the delay time of solenoid valve is deduced. Both the theoretical analysis and the dynamic simulation show that the effect of dividing a single coil into N parallel sub-coils is close to that of driving the single coil with N times of the original driving voltage as far as the delay time of solenoid valve is concerned. A specific test bench is designed to measure the dynamic performance of high speed on/off solenoid valve. The experimental results also prove that both the delay time and switching time of the solenoid valves can be decreased greatly by adopting the parallel coil scheme. 2Plant Polyploidy: Origin, Evolution, and Its Influence on Crop Domestication显示文摘The prevalence and recurrence of polyploidization in plant species make it one of the most important evolutionary events in plants, and as a result, polyploidization is an extensively investigated research field. Due to the rapid development of sequencing technologies, there is increased evidence to support that polyploidization plays an important role in the diversification of plant species, evolution of genes, and the domestication of crops. Here, we reviewed the influence of polyploidization on various aspects of plant evolution, mainly focused on polyploid origin, characteristics, subsequent genome divergence, and its impact on gene function innovation and crop domestication. The occurrence of many independent polyploidization events in plants was found to be tightly associated with the timing of extreme climate events or natural disasters on earth, leading to mass extinction while possibly facilitating increased polyploidization. Following allo-polyploidization, a distinct phenomenon known as sub-genome dominance occurred during sub-genome evolution, which was found to be associated with the methylation of transposons. Extensive gene fractionations(lost) following polyploidization were reported in almost all paleo-polyploids, and the evolutionary fates of multi-copy genes, such as sub-/neo-functionalization, were further proposed to illustrate their underlying mechanisms. Moreover,polyploidization was found to significantly impact species diversification, with subsequent effects on crop domestication and the development of traits with agronomic importance. 3Genome triplication drove the diversification of Brassica plants显示文摘The genus Brassica belongs to the plant family Brassicaceae,which includes many important crop species that are used as oilseed,condiments,or vegetables throughout the world.Brassica plants comprise many diverse species,and each species contains rich morphotypes showing extreme traits.Brassica species experienced an extra whole genome triplication(WGT)event compared with the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana.Whole genome sequencing of the Brassica species Brassica rapa,Brassica oleracea and others demonstrated that WGT plays an important role in the speciation and morphotype diversification of Brassica plants.Comparative genomic analysis based on the genome sequences of B.rapa and A.thaliana clearly identified the WGT event and further demonstrated that the translocated Proto-Calepine Karyotype(tPCK,n57)was the diploid ancestor of the three subgenomes in B.rapa.Following WGT,subsequent extensive genome fractionation,block reshuffling and chromosome reduction accompanied by paleocentromere descent from the three tPCK subgenomes during the rediploidization process produced stable diploid species.Genomic rearrangement of the diploid species and their hybridization then contributed to Brassica speciation.The subgenome dominance effect and biased gene retention,such as the over-retention of auxin-related genes after WGT,promoted functional gene evolution and thus propelled the expansion of rich morphotypes in the Brassica species.In conclusion,the WGT event initiated subsequent genomic and gene-level evolution,which further drove Brassica speciation and created rich morphotypes in each species.Feng Cheng Jian Wu Xiaowu Wang 2014Horticulture Research2014,1,1:11
4Improved Brassica rapa reference genome by single-molecule sequencing and chromosome conformation capture technologies显示文摘Brassica rapa comprises several important cultivated vegetables and oil crops.Current reference genome assemblies of Brassica rapa are quite fragmented and not highly contiguous,thereby limiting extensive genetic and genomic analyses.Here,we report an improved assembly of the B.rapa genome(v3.0)using single-molecule sequencing,optical mapping,and chromosome conformation capture technologies(Hi-C).Relative to the previous reference genomes,our assembly features a contig N50 size of 1.45 Mb,representing a~30-fold improvement.We also identified a new event that occurred in the B.rapa genome~1.2 million years ago,when a long terminal repeat retrotransposon(LTR-RT)expanded.Further analysis refined the relationship of genome blocks and accurately located the centromeres in the B.rapa genome.The B.rapa genome v3.0 will serve as an important community resource for future genetic and genomic studies in B.rapa.This resource will facilitate breeding efforts in B.rapa,as well as comparative genomic analysis with other Brassica species.Lei Zhang Xu Cai Jian Wu Min Liu Stefan Grob Feng Cheng Jianli Liang Chengcheng Cai Zhiyuan Liu Bo Liu Fan Wang Song Li Fuyan Liu Xuming Li Lin Cheng Wencai Yang Mai-he Li Ueli Grossniklaus Hongkun Zheng Xiaowu Wang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:10
5A de novo Genome of a Chinese Radish Cultivar显示文摘Here, we report a high-quality draft genome of a Chinese radish(Raphanus sativus) cultivar. This draft contains 387.73 Mb of assembled scaffolds, 83.93% of the scaffolds were anchored onto nine pseudochromosomes and 95.09% of 43 240 protein-coding genes were functionally annotated. 184.75 Mb(47.65%) of repeat sequences was identified in the assembled genome. By comparative analyses of the radish genome against 10 other plant genomes, 2 275 genes in 780 gene families were found unique to R. sativus. 6Structure guided texture inpainting through multi-scale patches and global optimization for image completion显示文摘Automatic image completion can provide convenient editing of consumer images.Most image completion methods find the best patch locally and then copy it to the hole region for texture inpainting.Since the best patch is fixed in size,it is hard to adapt these methods efciently either to various patterns or to content synthesis.Meanwhile,salient image structures can be estimated and propagated to guide the texture inpainting process for more plausible results.This paper presents a novel image completion method using structure guided texture inpainting.We do not require any interactions to achieve automatic two-stage image completion.In the structure completion stage,the salient structures around the hole region are detected,and then the missing structure curves are completed with Euler spiral.The textures along the structure curves are completed through belief propagation.In the texture inpainting stage,we propose multi-scale patches and global optimization to inpaint the remaining texture in the hole regions guided by the completed structures.First,with defined patch sizes,the hole region is divided into lattice patches,making it possible for multiple patch sizes to render multiscale descriptions of this image.A multi-scale graph is then built for the hole region and formulated as a posterior probability model.Second,using a simulated annealing based Markov chain Monte Carlo method,an inference algorithm is designed to find a global optimization solution for the posterior probability model.The experiments show that our method can automatically complete the hole region and preserve plausible structure shapes of existing ones in various scenarios.The texture inpainting results are more convincing with guidance from the completed structures,and our method can guarantee and accelerate convergence of the global optimization.CHEN XiaoWu ZHOU Bin GUO Yu XU Fang ZHAO QinPing 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,1:9
7Analysis of diffusion-adsorption equivalency of landfill liner systems for organic contaminants显示文摘The equivalence between multilayered barriers regarding diffusion and adsorption was studied. The bottom boundary of the liner system is defined by assuming concentration continuous and flux continuous conditions of the contaminant between the bottom liner layer and the underlying soil. Five different liner systems were compared in terms of solute breakthrough time. The results of the analysis showed that breakthrough time of the hydrophobic organic compounds for a 2-meter-thick compacted clay liner (CCL) could be 3-4 orders of magnitude is greater than the breakthrough time for a geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) composite liner. The GM/GCL and GM/CCL composite liner systems provide a better diffusion barrier for the hydrophilic organic compounds than that for the hydrophobic compounds due to their different Henry's coeffcient. The calculated breakthrough times of the organic contaminants for the Chinese standard liner systems were found to be generally greater than those for the GCL alternatives, for the specific conditions examined. If the distribution coeffcient increases to 2.8 for the hydrophobic compounds or 1.0 for the hydrophilic compounds, the thickness of the attenuation layer needed to achieve the same breakthrough time as the standard liner systems can be reduced by a factor of about 1.9-2.4. 9Influences of pouring temperature and cooling rate on microstructure and mechanical properties of casting Al-Si-Cu aluminum alloy显示文摘This paper investigated the influences of pouring temperature and cooling rate on the microstructure development and mechanical properties for casting Al-Si-Cu aluminum alloy.The microstructure of the as-cast samples was characterized by an optical microscope.The results showed that the dendrite arm spacing(DAS,λ) is well refined by pouring at a higher temperature.The λ decreases with increasing pouring temperature due to the multiplication of the nucleation sites in the superheating liquid melt,and the mechanical properties,such as microhardness and ultimate tensile strength increase correspondingly,while the elongation decreases.The relationships between microhardness and λ for the samples cooled in metal mould and sand mould,are given as HV=118.9 1.246λ and HV=115.2 1.029λ,respectively.The effects of the cooling rate controlled by using permanent mould casting and sand mould casing processes(the cooling medium is air and sand,respectively) on the dendrite arm spacing and mechanical properties are similar to the effect of the pouring temperature.Xiaowu HU Fanrong AI Hong YAN 2012Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2012,25,4:7
10Lighting virtual objects in a single image via coarse scene understanding显示文摘Achieving convincing visual consistency between virtual objects and a real scene mainly relies on the lighting effects of virtual-real composition scenes.The problem becomes more challenging in lighting virtual objects in a single real image.Recently,scene understanding from a single image has made great progress.The estimated geometry,semantic labels and intrinsic components provide mostly coarse information,and are not accurate enough to re-render the whole scene.However,carefully integrating the estimated coarse information can lead to an estimate of the illumination parameters of the real scene.We present a novel method that uses the coarse information estimated by current scene understanding technology to estimate the parameters of a ray-based illumination model to light virtual objects in a real scene.Our key idea is to estimate the illumination via a sparse set of small 3D surfaces using normal and semantic constraints.The coarse shading image obtained by intrinsic image decomposition is considered as the irradiance of the selected small surfaces.The virtual objects are illuminated by the estimated illumination parameters.Experimental results show that our method can convincingly light virtual objects in a single real image,without any pre-recorded 3D geometry,reflectance,illumination acquisition equipment or imaging information of the image.CHEN XiaoWu JIN Xin WANG Ke 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,9:7

12Identification of QTLs and Validation of qCd-2 Associated with Grain Cadmium Concentrations in Rice显示文摘Cadmium(Cd) is one of heavy metals harmful to human health. As rice is the main staple food in Asia and Cd is easily contaminated in rice, the molecular regulation of Cd accumulation should be explored. In this study, a recombinant inbred population derived from Xiang 743/Katy was grown in Cd-polluted fields and used to map the quantitative trait loci(QTLs) for Cd accumulation in rice grains. We identified seven QTLs distributed on chromosomes 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10. These QTLs displayed phenotypic variances of 58.50% and 40.59% in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Two QTLs, qCd-2 and qCd-7, were identified in both the two years. qCd-2 was detected on the interval of RM250–RM207 on chromosome 2, with an LOD of 2.51 and a phenotypic contribution of 13.75% in 2014, and an LOD of 3.35 and a phenotypic contribution of 14.16% in 2015. qCd-7 co-localized with the cloned qCdT7 on chromosome 7 and may represent the correct candidate. The other five QTLs were detected only in one year. To further confirm the effects of qCd-2, a residual heterozygous line designated as RHL945, with a heterozygous interval of RM263–RM207 on chromosome 2, was selected from the recombinant inbred population and used to develop an F2 population consisting of 155 individual plants. By incorporating further simple sequence repeat markers into the segmental linkage map of the target region, qCd-2 was delimited in the interval of RM5404–RM3774, with an LOD value of 4.38 and a phenotypic contribution of 15.52%. 13Dual Gabriel theorem with applications显示文摘We introduce the quiver of a bicomodule over a cosemisimple coalgebra. Applying this to the coradical C0 of an arbitrary coalgebra C, we give an alternative definition of the Gabriel quiver of C, and then show that it coincides with the known Ext quiver of C and the link quiver of C. The dual Gabriel theorem for a coalgebra with a separable coradical is obtained, which generalizes the corresponding result for a pointed coalgebra. We also give a new description of C1 = C0 ∧X C0 of any coalgebra C, which can be regarded as a generalization of the first part of the well-known Taft-Wilson Theorem for pointed coalgebras. 16A naturally occurring variation in the BrMAM-3 gene is associated with aliphatic glucosinolate accumulation in Brassica rapa leaves显示文摘Glucosinolate profiles significantly vary among Brassica rapa genotypes.However,the molecular basis of these variations is largely unknown.In this study,we investigated a major quantitative trait locus(QTL)controlling aliphatic glucosinolate accumulation in B.rapa leaves.The QTL,which encompasses three tandem MAM genes and two MYB genes,was detected in two BC2DH populations.Among the five-candidate genes,only the expression level of BrMAM-3(Bra013007)was significantly correlated with the accumulation of aliphatic glucosinolates in B.rapa leaves.We identified a naturally occurring insertion within exon 1 of BrMAM-3,which is predicted to be a loss-of-function mutation,as confirmed by qRT-PCR.We determined that the loss of function was associated with the low glucosinolate content in B.rapa accessions.Furthermore,overexpressing the BrMAM-3 gene resulted in an increase in total aliphatic glucosinolates in Arabidopsis transgenic lines.Our study provides insights into the molecular mechanism underlying the accumulation of aliphatic glucosinolates in B.rapa leaves,thereby facilitating in the manipulation of total aliphatic glucosinolate content in Brassica crops.Jifang Zhang Hui Wang Zhiyuan Liu Jianli Liang Jian Wu Feng Cheng Shiyong Mei Xiaowu Wang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:5

18Reaction mechanism and microstructure development of ZrSi_(2) melt-infiltrated C_(f)/SiC-ZrC-ZrB_(2) composites:The influence of preform pore structures显示文摘Reactive melt infiltration(RMI)is an effective method for fabrication of highly dense carbon fiber reinforced ultra-high temperature ceramic matrix composites(Cf/UHTCs).In this work,C_(f)/SiC-ZrC-ZrB_(2)composites were fabricated by infiltrating ZrSi_(2)melt into porous C_(f)/B_(4)C-C preforms,where the physical and chemical reactions involved during the RMI process were identified and analyzed.Inhomogeneous infiltration between the inter-and intra-bundle pores was revealed,and was found to be strongly related to the pore structures of the C_(f)/B_(4)C-C preform.It is indicated that the inhomogeneous infiltration can be mitigated remarkably with increasing porosity and pore size of the preform.The effect of pore size on the RMI process was also investigated by a quantitative model,which agrees very well with the experiment results.It further indicates that the inhomogeneous infiltration can also be relieved at elevated RMI temperature.However,excessive infiltration at elevated temperature or more porous preform may cause serious erosion on interphase and fibers,leading to mechanical properties deterioration of the final composites.Xiaowu Chen Dewei Ni Yanmei Kan Youlin Jiang Haijun Zhou Zhen Wang Shaoming Dong 2018Journal of Materiomics2018,4,3:5

20Video motion stitching using trajectory and position similarities显示文摘Stitching motions in multiple videos into a single video scene is a challenging task in current video fusion and mosaicing research and film production. In this paper, we present a novel method of video motion stitching based on the similarities of trajectory and position of foreground objects. First, multiple video sequences are registered in a common reference frame, whereby we estimate the static and dynamic backgrounds, with the former responsible for distinguishing the foreground from the background and the static region from the dynamic region, and the latter functioning in mosaicing the warped input video sequences into a panoramic video. Accordingly, the motion similarity is calculated by reference to trajectory and position similarity, whereby the corresponding motion parts are extracted from multiple video sequences. Finally, using the corresponding motion parts, the foregrounds of different videos and dynamic backgrounds are fused into a single video scene through Poisson editing, with the motions involved being stitched together. Our major contributions are a framework of multiple video mosaicing based on motion similarity and a method of calculating motion similarity from the trajectory similarity and the position similarity. Experiments on everyday videos show that the agreement of trajectory and position similarities with the real motion similarity plays a decisive role in determining whether two motions can be stitched.
