| 2 | Ice radar investigation at Dome A, East Antarctica:Ice thickness and subglacial topography显示文摘Dome A, located in the central East Antarctic ice sheet (EAIS), is the highest summit of the Antarctic ice sheet. From ice-sheet evolution modeling results, Dome A is likely to preserve over one million years of the Earth's paleo-climatic and -environmental records, and considered an ideal deep ice core drilling site. Ice thickness and subglacial topography are critical factors for ice-sheet models to determine the timescale and location of a deep ice core. During the 21st and 24th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition (CHINARE 21, 2004/05; CHINARE 24, 2007/08), ground-based ice radar systems were used to a three-dimensional investigation in the central 30 km×30 km region at Dome A. The successfully obtained high resolution and accuracy data of ice thickness and subglacial topography were then interpolated into the ice thickness distribution and subglacial topography digital elevation model (DEM) with a regular grid resolution of 140.5 m×140.5 m. The results of the ice radar investigation indicate that the average ice thickness in the Dome A central 30 km×30 km region is 2233 m, with a minimal ice thickness of 1618 m and a maximal ice thickness of 3139 m at Kunlun Station. The subglacial topography is relatively sharp, with an elevation range of 949-2445 m. The typical, clear mountain glaciation morphology is likely to reflect the early evolution of the Antarctic ice sheet. Based on the ice thickness distribution and subglacial topography characteristics, the location of Kunlun Station was suggested to carry out the first high-resolution, long time-scale deep ice core drilling. | 3 | Red and Blue Lights Significantly Affect Photosynthetic Properties and Ultrastructure of Mesophyll Cells in Senescing Grape Leaves显示文摘Light quality significantly affects photosynthetic efficiency in plants. The mechanisms for how light quality affects photosynthesis in grape is poorly understood. Therefore, to investigate the effects of different light qualities on chloroplast ultrastructure and photosynthesis efficiency, two grape cultivars ‘Italia'(slower speed of leaf senescence) and ‘Centennial Seedless'(faster speed of leaf senescence) grown under protected and delayed conditions were used. The three treatments, replicated three times, were control(no supplemental lighting), red light and blue light. Chlorophyll content, net photosynthetic rate, and the ratio of F_v/F_m significantly increased in red light relative to the control. The opposite trend was observed in blue light in the early phase of leaf senescence. At later stages, physiological indexes were gradually higher than that of control, resulting in a delay in leaf senescence. Compared to the control, red and blue light both significantly increased the chlorophyll a/b ratio. Electron microscopy showed that blue light caused severe damage to the fine structure of chloroplasts at early stages of leaf senescence, but effects at later stages of leaf senescence became less severe compared to the control. The degradation of chloroplast ultrastructure was apparently delayed in red light throughout the experimental timeframe compared to other treatments. | 4 | Preliminary results of ice radar investigation along the traverse between Zhongshan and Dome A in East Antarctic ice sheet:Ice thickness and subglacial topography显示文摘During the 24th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition(CHINARE 24,2007/08),a ground-based ice radar was used to survey ice thickness and subglacial topography along the 1170 km traverse between Zhongshan and Dome A in East Antarctic ice sheet(EAIS).Ice-bedrock interface was detected along 82%of the traverse and data was collected at a horizontal resolution of <5.6 m.The data was processed to produce curves of ice thickness distribution and subglacial topography along the traverse.The results indicate that,along the traverse,the average ice thickness is 2037 m,smaller than the average ice thickness in EAIS;the thickest ice is at 730 km,and the thinnest ice(891 m)is at the edge of the ice sheet,but the slightly larger ice thickness(1078 m) in inland appears at 1020 km;the average subglacial topography elevation is 728 m,greatly larger than the average value in EAIS, and the largest elevation reaches up to 2650 m at 1034 km.The lowest terrain is located at 765 km.In further inland of 900?1170 km,the subglacial topography is relatively high due to the existence of the Gamburtsev Subglacial Mountains in the region.Generally,the influence of subglacial topography on ice surface is not significant,except at 900 km where great rise of subglacial topography causes evident uplift of ice surface.Where ice-bedrock interface was detected,the frequent and strong change of ice thickness and subglacial topography in small-scale means large bedrock roughness along the traverse,and is considered as the result of the integrated influence of ice flow,basal environments and geology.The segment where bedrock was not detected has very large ice thickness.The strong ice flow there also makes internal structure more complicated and induces serious attenuation of radar signals. | CUI XiangBin SUN Bo TIAN Gang TANG XueYuan ZHANG XiangPei JIANG YunYun GUO JingXue LI Xin | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,24: | 8 |

| 7 | Variability in the composition and export of silica in the Huanghe River Basin显示文摘Concentrations of suspended particle material(SPM), dissolved silicate(DSi), biogenic silica(BSi), phytoliths(plant produced siliceous microscopic structures), and other parameters were analyzed to examine the influence of both natural processes and human activities on silica delivery to the estuary of the Huanghe River(Yellow River). Our results indicate that the concentrations of DSi in the river decreased significantly since 1986. Approximately 34% of dissolved silica was trapped in the basin between 1986 and 2010 due to a reduction of soil erosion. Phytoliths comprised 67.2%–96.3% of BSi, with the smoothing bar type being the dominant form. Concentrations of BSi are significantly higher in the Huanghe River compared to other major rivers throughout the world due to its high sediment yield. We also found that the ratios of BSi/(BSi+DSi) and BSi/SPM were approximately 0.5 and 0.003 at Lijin near the river mouth, indicating that BSi carried in suspension by the Huanghe River was an important component of the rivers silica load. Significant amounts of BSi were also composed of phytoliths in Bohai Sea sediments near the Huanghe River estuary with the smoothing bar form again being the most abundant. The relatively high specific fluxes of BSi in the Huanghe River reflect its high turbidity and high erosion rates in the basin. The high sediment load originating on the Loess Plateau is likely responsible for the higher BSi flux, in agreement with a general trend of increasing BSi flux with increasing sediment flux in global river systems. This study demonstrates that BSi transported by rivers can be composed largely of phytoliths originating from the erosion of topsoils. | 8 | Surface mass balance and its climate significance from the coast to Dome A, East Antarctica显示文摘Based on stake measurements conducted along the Chinese Antarctic traverse since Jan.1999,we investigated the characteristics of surface mass balance(SMB)and related climate consequences from Zhongshan Station to Dome A,East Antarctica.Spatial analysis suggests that post-depositional processes have a great impact on surface morphology;thus,the representativeness of a single measurement should be discussed in conjunction with local climate features.The comparison among snow accumulation,ice sheet thickness,surface elevation,and ice velocity indicates that the bedrock topography has an indirect connection with the SMB patterns through controlling the surface topography and local climate.The observation reveals that the Lambert Glacier Basin has been experiencing increasing mass input(4.5%),whereas the inland area has experienced a 6%loss,since 2005.An overall estimation of the SMB along the route is 71.3±44.3 kg m?2 a?1,but the annual and regional variation is considerable.Tendency analysis shows that there are four sections with different SMB patterns as a result of three moisture sources and surface climatic discrepancy in the Antarctic inland.This study is the first to identify four SMB patterns from the coast to the Dome area and should provide a valuable contribution to modeling and remote sensing on a continental scale. | DING MingHu XIAO CunDe LI ChuanJin QIN DaHe JIN Bo SHI GuiTao XIE AiHong CUI XiangBin | 2015 | Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,10: | 7 |

| 12 | Structure of the internal isochronous layers at Dome A,East Antarctica显示文摘Dome A (Kunlun Station) is considered a likely place for finding an ice core record reaching back to one million years. The internal isochronous layering of the Antarctic Ice Sheet, revealed by ice radar, is a prerequisite for selecting sites for deep ice core drilling that can be used for studying the paleoclimatic record. In 2004/2005, during the 21st Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition (CHINARE 21), a 200-km long, continuous radar profile was obtained across Dome A. The internal layers along the profile were derived from the stratigraphy detected by the radar. The morphology of the isochronous layers shows that: (1) The internal layers in the shallow ice sheet (0-500 m) are generally flat, with no more than 50 m of layer intervals, and have typical synclines and anticlines in some localized regions. (2) At 500-2000 m below the surface of the ice sheet, the layers appear as 'bright layers', and the width of the layer intervals expands to 50-100 m. (3) When the basal topographic wavelengths are approximate to the thickness of the ice (3 km), the traced internal layers, with localized bumps or concave folds, are asymptotic parallel to the subglacial topography. For the longer topographic wavelengths (~20 km) wider than the thickness of the ice, the layers do not rise and fall with the basal topography. The internal layers surrounding some mountain peaks representing the most extreme variation in the terrain are sharply disturbed by the subglacial topography. (4) Layer discontinuity and fracture were detected in the basal ice sheet. | 13 | Response of the sediment geochemistry of the Changjiang River(Yangtze River) to the impoundment of the Three Gorges Dam显示文摘Based on the measurement of major and trace elements in suspended sediments in the low reaches of the Changjiang River during throughout a whole hydrologic year, the origins, seasonal variations, and fluxes of multielements and the human impacts on multielements transport processes have been analyzed along with the influence of weathering in the Changjiang River basin. The results show that most element contents were high in both autumn and winter and low in summer, which was largely caused by the dilution of discharge. Weathering detritus in the Changjiang River basin is the main source of most elements in suspended sediments. However, riverine pollution could bring more loadings of Cd, Pb, As and Zn into river water than it did a few decades ago. The annual average fluxes of Cd, Pb and Zn, which are major contamination elements, to the sea were 179 ± 21 tons/year, 7810 ± 675 tons/year, and 12,000 ± 1320 tons/year,respectively, in which approximately 8.7%, 11.9% and 2.7% of their loadings, respectively,were contributed by pollution inputs. Element exports mainly occurred in the summer(44.4%–57.4%) in the lower part of the Changjiang River. A general relationship between sediment retention and element content suggests a positive feedback mechanism for the decreased number of particles, in which element riverine loadings are reduced due to the enhanced trapping effect by the Three Gorges Dam(TGD). | 14 | Chinese radioglaciological studies on the Antarctic ice sheet: progress and prospects显示文摘Chinese radioglaciological studies on the Antarctic ice sheet(AIS) began in 2004/05 when the 21 st Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition(CHINARE 21) team arrived at Dome A for the first time and radio echo sounding(RES) was conducted along the inland traverse and in the Dome A region. Subsequently, more field surveys were conducted along the traverse and in the Dome A region using different radar systems targeting different scientific purposes, such as revealing the landscape of the Gamburtsev Subglacial Mountains by detailed grid RES, or locating a deep ice core drilling site by mapping and studying internal structures, bedrock topography and subglacial conditions in the Dome A region. Furthermore, the evolution of the AIS was inferred from the typical mountain glaciation topography beneath Dome A, and the age of the deep ice core at Kunlun Station was estimated through numerical modeling. Recently, the Snow Eagle 601 airplane was acquired and an airborne geophysical system was constructed to survey the AIS in Princess Elizabeth Land during CHINARE 32(2015/16) and CHINARE 33(2016/17) in order to fill the large data gap there. | 15 | Evaluation of purified recombinant spike fragments forassessment of the presence of serum neutralizing antibodiesagainst a variant strain of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus显示文摘Since 2010, variant strains of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV) have caused disasters in the pork industry. The spike(S) protein, as the major immunity-eliciting antigen, has previously been used for serological testing and has been found to correlate significantly with the results of the serum neutralization(SN) test. However, further evaluation of this method is needed as new epidemic strains of PEDV emerge. Hence, the main objective of this study was to assess sow sera and determine the correlation between enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) results(involving a newly isolated GDS01 virus-based ELISA and ELISAs based on seven recombinant fragments comprising overlapping S1 and partial S2 sequences) and SN titers. Furthermore, we determined the reliability of the ELISAs based on receiver operating characteristics(ROC) curve analyses. For the most promising ELISA, i.e., the SP4 ELISA, the correlation coefficient(r) and the area under curve(AUC) were determined to be 0.6113 and 0.8538, respectively. In addition, we analyzed the homology of the SP4 sequences obtained from different strains(including vaccine strains) and found that various strains showed a high degree of homology in this region. | 16 | Performance analysis of MIMO systems with arbitrary number transmit antenna selection and OSTBC in the presence of imperfect CSI显示文摘In this paper, the performance analysis of MIMO systems with arbitrary number transmit antenna selection(TAS) and orthogonal space-time block coding(STBC) in Rayleigh fading channels for imperfect channel state information(CSI) is presented. For the performance analysis, the moment generating function of the system effective SNR as well as its upper and lower bounds are derived. Then, accurate and approximate expressions of bit error rate(BER) of MIMO-TAS-STBC with MPSK and MQAM are further derived. Using the approximate BER formula and imperfect CSI, an adaptive antenna selection scheme is developed for minimizing the BER. The diversity gain and coding gain are analyzed at high SNR. The results indicate that the MIMOTAS-STBC for imperfect CSI can only achieve partial diversity order K N and the coding gain is affected by K,N, code rate, modulation pattern, and channel correlation coefficients, when K transmit antennas are selected and N receive antennas are used. | 17 | Dome Argus: Ideal site for deep ice drilling显示文摘Located on the centre of ice drainage range, the highest Dome Argus (Dome A) of East Antarctic Ice Sheet (EAIS), could be represented as an ideal site for deep ice cores drilling containing oldest paleo-climate records. To select a suitable drilling site for deep ice core, it needs gather all information pertaining to the local meteorology, ice sheet landforms, ice thickness, subglacial topography of bed rocks, ice velocity, internal structures of ice sheet, etc. Based on the International Partnerships in Ice Core Sciences (IPICS), we present recent achievement of glaciological research and its perspective at Dome A in this paper. We system-atically discussed the merits and possible ventures of potential drilling sites around Dome A. Among all the candidates, we find that the Chinese Antarctic Kunlun Station is the best site for carrying out the first deep ice core drilling campaign. | 20 | Calibration of the simulation parameters of the particulate materials in film mixed materials显示文摘In order to obtain accurate contact parameters of a particulate material in residual film mixture collected by cotton field machine in Xinjiang,the angle of repose test and inclined plane test were carried out.In the tests,the angles of repose of the particulate material with the water content of(6.26±1.5)%and(14.1±2.1)%were measured respectively,as well as the static sliding friction angle between the particulate material and the residual film.At the same time,the EDEM software was used to calibrate the coefficient of restitution,static friction coefficient and dynamic friction coefficient between the material and the film.Then,the second-order response model between contact parameters and the angle of repose and static sliding friction angle was constructed.In addition,the optimal contact parameters between the granular materials and the mulch were obtained by fitting the physical test data.The results indicated that the errors between the physical test results and the numerical simulation results are small.It was proved that the second-order response model could predict the repose angle of granular materials and the static sliding friction angle between granular materials and farmland film.This study could provide theoretical support for the subsequent model construction of the residual film mixture collected by the cotton field machine. | Rongqing Liang Xuegeng Chen Peng Jiang Bingcheng Zhang Hewei Meng Xiangbin Peng Za Kan | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,4: | 3 |
