| 1 | Zircon SHRIMP Dating for the Weiya Pluton, Eastern Tianshan: Its Geological Implications显示文摘The timing of the emplacement of the Weiya pluton remains controversial due to the absence of systematic and precise dating. This paper reports zircon SHRIMP U-Pb dating of different lithologic phases in the Weiya pluton, and discusses the genesis and tectonic environment. The ages of gabbro, quartz syenite, diorite porphyrite and fine-grained granite are 236?6 Ma, 246?6 Ma, 233?8 Ma and 237?8 Ma, respectively. All these phases were formed in early-middle Indosinian (Triassic) in a post-orogenic environment. In addition to underplating, intraplating of mantle-derived magmas is also a substantial mechanism for magma generation and vertical accretion of the continental crust. Granitoid rocks are important products of vertical continental accretion as underplating evolves gradually to intraplating. | 2 | Changes of tear film and tear secretion after phacoemulsification in diabetic patients显示文摘Objective: To evaluate tear film stability and tear secretion in patients with diabetes after phacoemulsification. Methods: Twenty-five diabetic cataract patients and 20 age-matched non-diabetic cataract patients as control underwent pha- coemulsification. Tear film break-up time (TFBUT), Schirmer I test (SIT), corneal fluorescein staining, and dry eye symptoms were measured pre- and postoperatively. Results: Diabetics had a decreased preoperative TFBUT and SIT. TFBUT was reduced on Day 1 and recovered on Day 180 postoperatively in both groups. SIT was increased after phacoemulsification, but returned to preoperative levels by Day 180 in non-diabetics, whereas it was lower than preoperative level in diabetics. Positive corneal fluo- rescein staining was elevated in both groups, and returned to preoperative levels only in controls. Dry eye symptoms were similar to fluorescein staining in both groups. | 3 | The TanSat mission: preliminary global observations显示文摘The Chinese global carbon dioxide monitoring satellite (Tan Sat) was launched successfully in December2016 and has completed its on-orbit tests and calibration. Tan Sat aims to measure the atmospheric column-averaged dry air mole fractions of carbon dioxide (XCO_2) with a precision of 4 ppm at the regional scale, and in addition, to derive global and regional CO2fluxes. Progress towards these objectives is reviewed and the first scientific results from Tan Sat measurements are presented. Tan Sat on-orbit tests indicate that the Atmospheric Carbon dioxide Grating Spectrometer is in normal working status and is beginning to produce L1B products. The preliminary Tan Sat XCO_2products have been retrieved by an algorithm and compared to NASA Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2) measurements during an overlapping observation period. | 4 | Modified bottleneck-based heuristic for large-scale job-shop scheduling problems with a single bottleneck显示文摘A modified bottleneck-based (MB) heuristic for large-scale job-shop scheduling problems with a well- defined bottleneck is suggested,which is simpler but more tailored than the shifting bottleneck (SB) procedure. | 6 | Precise nanomedicine for intelligent therapy of cancer显示文摘Precise nanomedicine has been extensively explored for efficient cancer imaging and targeted cancer therapy, as evidenced by a few breakthroughs in their preclinical and clinical explorations. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. | 7 | Baicalin attenuates high fat diet-induced insulin resistance and ectopic fat storage in skeletal muscle,through modulating the protein kinase B/Glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta pathway显示文摘Insulin resistance is the pathophysiological basis of many diseases.Overcoming early insulin resistance highly significant in prevention diabetes,non-alcoholic fatty liver,and atherosclerosis.The present study aimed at evaluating the therapeutic effects of baicalin on insulin resistance and skeletal muscle ectopic fat storage in high fat diet-induced mice,and exploring the potential molecular mechanisms.Insulin resistance in mice was induced with a high fat diet for 16 weeks.Animals were then treated with three different doses of baicalin(100,200,and 400 mg·kg^(-1)·d^(-1)for 14 weeks.Fasting blood glucose,fasting serum insulin,glucose tolerance test(GTT),insulin tolerance test(ITT),and skeletal muscle lipid deposition were measured.Additionally,the AMP-activated protein kinase/acetyl-CoA carboxylase and protein kinase B/Glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta pathways in skeletal muscle were further evaluated.Baicalin significantly reduced the levels of fasting blood glucose and fasting serum insulin and attenuated high fat diet induced glucose tolerance and insulin tolerance.Moreover,insulin resistance was significantly reversed.Pathological analysis revealed baicalin dose-dependently decreased the degree of the ectopic fat storage in skeletal muscle.The properties of baicalin were mediated,at least in part,by inhibition of the AMPK/ACC pathway,a key regulator of de novo lipogenesis and activation of the Akt/GSK-3β pathway,a key regulator of Glycogen synthesis.These data suggest that baicalin,at dose up to 400 mg·kg^(-1)·d^(-1),is safe and able to attenuate insulin resistance and skeletal muscle ectopic fat storage,through modulating the skeletal muscle AMPK/ACC pathway and Akt/GSK-3β pathway. | XI You-Li LI Hong-Xia CHEN Chen LIU Ya-Qun LV Hong-Mei DONG Shi-Qi LUO Er-Fei GU Ming-Bo LIU Hua | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2016,14,1: | 19 |

| 9 | Experimental investigations for parametric effects of dual synthetic jets on delaying stall of a thick airfoil显示文摘A promising strategy of synthetic jet arrays(SJA) control for NACA0021 airfoil in preventing flow separation and delaying stall is investigated. Through aerodynamic forces, flowfield and velocity profiles measurements, it indicates that the synthetic jet(SJ) could enlarge the mixing of the shear layer and then enhance the stability of boundary layer, resulting in scope reduction of the flow separation zone. Furthermore, the control effects of dual jet arrays positioned at 15%c(Actuator 1) and 40%c(Actuator 2) respectively are systematically investigated with different jet parameters, such as two typical relative phase angles and various incline angles of the jet. The jet closer to the leading edge of airfoil is more advantageous in delaying the stall of airfoil, and overall,the flow control performances of jet arrays are better than those of single actuator. At the angle of attack(Ao A) just approaching and larger than the stall Ao A, jet array with 180° phase difference could increase the lift coefficient more significantly and prevent flow separation. When momentum coefficient of the jet arrays is small, a larger jet angle of Actuator 2 is more effective in improving the maximum lift coefficient of airfoil. | 12 | Large eddy simulation of flow in a street canyon with tree planting under various atmospheric instability conditions显示文摘In this work, a large eddy simulation (LES) model, which includes momentum and heat source (or sink) inside the tree planting layer, is proposed for the simulation of flow in a street canyon with tree planting. Vegetation canopy layer simulation shows that this model can be used to simulate the velocity distribution and temperature variation inside the canopy layer. Effects of atmospheric instability on flow and pollutant distribution in a street canyon with tree planting of an aspect ratio of 0.5 are studied. Results show that compared with the canyon with no tree planting (or the exposed street canyon), the canyon with tree planting shows a reduced wind circulation and pollutant exchange rate (PER) at the top layer of the street canyon, which induces the increase in the pollutant concentrations near road surface, leeward wall and windward wall. When street canyon atmosphere is under a strongly unstable condition, wind velocity decreases while pollutant concentration is increased in the areas near the street canyon top, road surface, leeward and windward walls, compared with the wind velocity in the street canyon with the neutral stratification. When street canyon atmosphere is under a weakly unstable condition, wind velocity weakens near the street canyon top and windward wall, but strengthens near the road surface and leeward wall, and pollutant concentration is decreased near the leeward and windward walls and is increased between the two rows of trees. | 14 | Whole-Brain Mapping of Direct Inputs to and Axonal Projections from GABAergic Neurons in the Parafacial Zone显示文摘The GABAergic neurons in the parafacial zone(PZ) play an important role in sleep-wake regulation and have been identified as part of a sleep-promoting center in the brainstem, but the long-range connections mediating this function remain poorly characterized. Here, we performed whole-brain mapping of both the inputs and outputs of the GABAergic neurons in the PZ of the mouse brain. We used the modified rabies virus Env A-DG-Ds Red combined with a Cre/lox P gene-expression strategy to map the direct monosynaptic inputs to the GABAergic neurons in the PZ, and found that they receive inputs mainly from the hypothalamic area, zona incerta, and parasubthalamic nucleus in the hypothalamus; the substantia nigra, pars reticulata and deep mesencephalic nucleus in the midbrain;and the intermediate reticular nucleus and medial vestibular nucleus(parvocellular part) in the pons and medulla.We also mapped the axonal projections of the PZ GABAergic neurons with adeno-associated virus, and defined the reciprocal connections of the PZ GABAergic neurons with their input and output nuclei. The newlyfound inputs and outputs of the PZ were also listed compared with the literature. | 15 | Exceeding the limit of plasmonic light trapping in textured screen-printed solar cells using Al nanoparticles and wrinkle-like graphene sheets显示文摘The solar cell market is predominantly based on textured screen-printed solar cells.Due to parasitic absorption in nanostructures,using plasmonic processes to obtain an enhancement that exceeds 2.5%of the short-circuit photocurrent density is challenging.In this paper,a 7.2%enhancement in the photocurrent density can be achieved through the integration of plasmonic Al nanoparticles and wrinkle-like graphene sheets.For the first time,we experimentally achieve Al nanoparticle-enhanced solar cells.An innovative thermal evaporation method is proposed to fabricate low-coverage Al nanoparticle arrays on solar cells.Due to the ultraviolet(UV)plasmon resonance of Al nanoparticles,the performance enhancement of the solar cells is significantly greater than that from Ag nanoparticles.Subsequently,we deposit wrinkle-like graphene sheets over the Al nanoparticle-enhanced solar cells.Compared with planar graphene sheets,the bend carbon layer also exhibits a broadband light-trapping effect.Our results exceed the limit of plasmonic light trapping in textured screen-printed silicon solar cells. | Xi Chen Baohua Jia Yinan Zhang Min Gu | 2013 | Light(Science & Applications)2013,2,1: | 9 |
| 16 | Epidemiology,clinical and laboratory characteristics of currently alive HIV-1 infected former blood donors naive to antiretroviral therapy in Anhui Province,China显示文摘Background Unregulated commercial blood/plasma collection among farmers occurred between 1992 and 1995 in central China and caused the second major epidemic of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection in China. It is important to characterize HIV-1-infected former blood donors and to study characteristics associated with disease progression for future clinical intervention and vaccine development. Methods A cross-sectional study was performed on HIV-1-infected former blood donors (FBDs) and age-matched HIV-seronegative local residents. Demographic, epidemiologic, clinical and key laboratory data were collected from all study participants. Both unadjusted and adjusted multivariate linear regressions were employed to analyze the association of the decrease of CD4+ T-cell counts with other characteristics. Results Two hundred and ninety-four HIV-1-infected FBDs and 59 age-matched HIV-seronegative local residents were enrolled in this study. The unregulated blood/plasma collection occurred more than a decade (10.8 -12.8 years) ago, which caused the rapid spread of HIV-1 infection and the high prevalence of co-infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV, 89.5%); hepatitis B virus (HBV) co-infection was observed in only 11 HIV+participants (3.7%). Deterioration in both clinical manifestation and laboratory parameters and increase of viral loads were observed in parallel with the decrease of CD4+ T-cell counts. The decrease of total lymphocyte counts (P<0.001) and hemoglobin levels (P<0.001) and the appearance of dermatosis (P=0.03) were observed in parallel with the decrease of CD4+ T-cell counts whereas viral loads (P<0.001) and CD8+ T-cell counts (P=0.01) were inverselyassociated with CD4+ T-cell counts. Conclusions Co-infection with HCV but not HBV is highly prevalent among HIV-1-infected FBDs. CD4+ T-cell counts is a reliable indicator for disease progression among FBDs. | 19 | Assessment of the immune responses to Treponema pallidum Gpd DNA vaccine adjuvanted with IL-2 and chitosan nanoparticles before and after Treponema pallidum challenge in rabbits显示文摘Syphilis is a multistage,sexually transmitted disease caused by the spirochete,Treponema pallidum(Tp).A significantly high incidence of syphilis has been reported in several countries,including China,and there is an urgent need for the development of efficacious vaccines against syphilis.DNA vaccines are a major breakthrough in the field of vaccination with several advantages over traditional vaccines.Animal model studies of Tp DNA vaccines have not been reported elsewhere but our previous reports describe the development of a single-gene Tp DNA vaccine and preclinical immunization study.In this study,chitosan(CS) nanoparticles were used as a vector and an interleukin-2 expression plasmid(pIL-2) as an adjuvant to enhance a TpGpd DNA vaccine candidate(pTpGpd) in a rabbit Tp skin challenge model.At week 8 after the first immunization,three rabbits from each group were used to determine cytokine measurements and spleen lymphocyte proliferation assay.pTpGpd in combination with pIL-2 wrapped with CS led to the greatest enhancement of anti-TpGpd antibodies and T-cell proliferation.During infection,levels of anti-TpGpd antibodies and T-cell proliferation were measured.Both the serum special IgG and IL-2,interferon-γ were significantly increased by the co-injection of the IL-2 plasmid compared with the injection of TpGpd DNA alone(P<0.05).Furthermore,IL-2 plasmid coinjection efficiently enhanced the antigen-specific lymphocyte proliferation response.Additionally,the ratios of positive skin lesions and ulcer lesions in groups immunized with pTpGpd were significantly lower than those of the pIL-2,CS or pIL-2 mixed with CS control groups(P<0.001).CS vectored and pIL-2 adjuvanted pTpGpd immunized animals exhibited the lowest rates of positive skin tests(8.33%) and ulcer lesions(4.17%) and the fastest recovery(42 d).These experiments indicate that co-injection of a pIL-2 plasmid with pTpGpd DNA vaccine wrapped with CS can significantly strengthen the long-term stability of immune response during infection,efficiently improve the protective effect against T.pallidum spirochetes infection and attenuate syphilitic lesion development. | ZHAO FeiJun ZHANG XiaoHong LIU ShuangQuan ZENG TieBing YU Jian GU WeiMing ZHANG YueJun CHEN Xi WU YiMou | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,2: | 8 |
| 20 | Effect of Trace Addition of Ceramic on Microstructure Development and Mechanical Properties of Selective Laser Melted AlSi10Mg Alloy显示文摘Selective laser melting(SLM)is an emerging additive manufacturing technology for fabricating aluminum alloys and aluminum matrix composites.Nevertheless,it remains unclear how to improve the properties of laser manufactured aluminum alloy by adding ceramic reinforcing particles.Here the effect of trace addition of TiB2 ceramic(1%weight fraction)on microstructural and mechanical properties of SLM-produced AlSi10Mg composite parts was investigated.The densification level increased with increasing laser power and decreasing scan speed.A near fully dense composite part(99.37%)with smooth surface morphology and elevated inter-layer bonding was successfully obtained.A decrease of lattice plane distance was identified by X-ray diffraction with the laser scan speed decreased,which implied that the crystal lattices were distorted due to the dissolution of Si and TiB2 particles.A homogeneous composite microstructure with the distribution of surface-smoothened TiB2 particles was present,and a small amount of Si particles precipitated at the interface between reinforcing particles and matrix.In contrast to the AlSi10Mg alloy,the composites showed a stabilized microhardness distribution.A higher ultimate tensile strength of 380.0 MPa,yield strength of 250.4 MPa and elongation of 3.43%were obtained even with a trace amount of ceramic addition.The improvement of tensile properties can be attributed to multiple mechanisms including solid solution strengthening,load-bearing strengthening and dispersion strengthening.This research provides a theoretical basis for ceramic reinforced aluminum matrix composites by additive manufacturing. | Yuxin Li Dongdong Gu Han Zhang Lixia Xi | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2020,33,2: | 7 |
