| 1 | ENPP1/PC-1 Gene K121Q Polymorphism Is Associated with Obesity in European Adult Populations: Evidence from A Meta-Analysis Involving 24 324 Subjects显示文摘Objective Findings from the previous studies have suggested a relationship between ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase /phosphodiesterase 1 (ENPP‐1) or plasma cell membrane glycoprotein 1 (PC‐1) gene single nucleotide polymorphism (K121Q, rs1044498) and genetic susceptibility to obesity. However, such relationship is not reproduced by some currently available studies. In this context, the present study is aimed to quantitatively analyze the association of K121Q variant with obesity in all published case‐control studies in European adult populations. Methods Published literature from PubMed, EMBASE, and ISI web of science databases were retrieved. The studies evaluating the association of ENPP1/PC1 gene K121Q polymorphism with obesity were included, in which sufficient data were presented to calculate the odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results Ten case‐control studies meeting the inclusion criteria identified a total of 24,324 subjects including 11,372 obese and 12,952 control subjects. The meta‐analysis results showed a statistically significant association of K121Q with obesity [OR (95%CI): 1.25 (1.04‐1.52) P=0.021] under a recessive model of inheritance (QQ vs. KK+KQ) without heterogeneity or publication bias. | 2 | MEC-Assisted Flexible Transcoding Strategy for Adaptive Bitrate Video Streaming in Small Cell Networks显示文摘Adaptive bitrate video streaming(ABR)has become a critical technique for mobile video streaming to cope with time-varying network conditions and different user preferences.However,there are still many problems in achieving high-quality ABR video streaming over cellular networks.Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)is a promising paradigm to overcome the above problems by providing video transcoding capability and caching the ABR video streaming within the radio access network(RAN).In this paper,we propose a flexible transcoding strategy to provide viewers with low-latency video streaming services in the MEC networks under the limited storage,computing,and spectrum resources.According to the information collected from users,the MEC server acts as a controlling component to adjust the transcoding strategy flexibly based on optimizing the video caching placement strategy.Specifically,we cache the proper bitrate version of the video segments at the edge servers and select the appropriate bitrate version of the video segments to perform transcoding under jointly considering access control,resource allocation,and user preferences.We formulate this problem as a nonconvex optimization and mixed combinatorial problem.Moreover,the simulation results indicate that our proposed algorithm can ensure a low-latency viewing experience for users. | Chunyu Liu Heli Zhang Hong Ji Xi Li | 2021 | China Communications2021,18,2: | 2 |

| 13 | Deletion of large-conductance calcium-activated potassium channels promotes vascular remodelling through the CTRP7-mediated PI3K/Akt signaling pathway显示文摘The large-conductance calcium-activated potassium(BK)channel is a critical regulator and potential therapeutic target of vascular tone and architecture,and abnormal expression or dysfunction of this channel is linked to many vascular diseases.Vascular remodelling is the early pathological basis of severe vascular diseases.Delaying the progression of vascular remodelling can reduce cardiovascular events,but the pathogenesis remains unclear.To clarify the role of BK channels in vascular remodelling,we use rats with BK channelαsubunit knockout(BKα‒/‒).The results show that BKα‒/‒rats have smaller inner and outer diameters,thickened aortic walls,increased fibrosis,and disordered elastic fibers of the aortas compared with WT rats.When the expression and function of BKαare inhibited in human umbilical arterial smooth muscle cells(HUASMCs),the expressions of matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP2),MMP9,and interleukin-6 are enhanced,while the expressions of smooth muscle cell contractile phenotype proteins are reduced.RNA sequencing,bioinformatics analysis and qPCR verification show that C1q/tumor necrosis factor-related protein 7(CTRP7)is the downstream target gene.Furthermore,except for that of MMPs,a similar pattern of IL-6,smooth muscle cell contractile phenotype proteins expression trend is observed after CTRP7 knockdown.Moreover,knockdown of both BKαand CTRP7 in HUASMCs activates PI3K/Akt signaling.Additionally,CTRP7 is expressed in vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs),and BKαdeficiency activates the PI3K/Akt pathway by reducing CTRP7 level.Therefore,we first show that BK channel deficiency leads to vascular remodelling.The BK channel and CTRP7 may serve as potential targets for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. | Jing Bi Yanru Duan Meili Wang Chunyu He Xiaoyue Li Xi Zhang Yan Tao Yunhui Du Huirong Liu | 2022 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,12: | 0 |
