2Network Pharmacology Bridges Traditional Application and Modern Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine显示文摘Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has developed over thousands of years and has accumulated abundant clinical experience, forming a comprehensive and unique medical system. Emerging evidence has begun to illustrate TCM as an area of important medical rediscoveries. This review article briefly introduced the concept, significance,and technology of network pharmacology based on network biology and systems biology. It focused on the theoretical system and potential prospect of TCM network applied in TCM research and development including predicting new drug targets, action mechanism, new drug discovery; evaluating pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, safety, toxicology, quality control, and bioinformatics of drugs. 4Fields of applications,diagnostic yields and findings of OMOM capsule endoscopy in 2400 Chinese patients显示文摘AIM:To retrospectively analyze the fields of application,diagnostic yields and findings of OMOM capsule endoscopy in Chinese patients.METHODS:A database including 2400 Chinese patients who received OMOM capsule endoscopy in 27 endoscopy centers in China was retrieved from the Jianshan Science and Technology Ltd.OMOM capsule endoscopy database.The patient's age,gender,fields of application,the potentially relevant findings,pyloric transit time(PTT),small bowel transit time(SBTT),and complete small-bowel examination rate(CSER) were recorded and analyzed.RESULTS:Two thousand four hundred patients aged 9-91 years(mean,49 years),of whom 1510 were males(62.9%),underwent 2400 OMOM capsule endoscopy procedures.One thousand two hundred and thirty two(51.3%) were referred with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding(OGIB),642(26.8%) with abdominal pain,and 223(9.3%) with chronic diarrhea.The overall diagnostic yield was 47.7%(1144/2400).The diagnostic yield of OMOM capsule endoscopy in OGIB subgroup was much higher than in the non-OGIB subgroup(62.4% vs 32.1%,P<0.001).The most common findings of the small bowel in Chinese patients with OGIB were arteriovenous malformation(28.1%) and tumors(18.9%).There was no significant difference in the diagnostic yield between the male and female patients with OGIB.However,the diagnostic yield in patients aged more than 60 was higher than in patients aged less than 60(69.8% vs 58.9%,P<0.001).The median PTT was 41 min(range:1-544 min) and the mean SBTT was 247.2 ± 88.9 min.The overall CSER was 86.8%.CONCLUSION:The OMOM capsule endoscopy is a valuable tool for small bowel evaluation with good overall diagnostic yield and CSER.Liao, Zhuan Gao, Rui Li, Feng Xu, Can Zhou, Yi Wang, Jin-Shan Li, Zhao-Shen 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,21:35
5Geochronology of Baogutu porphyry copper deposit in Western Junggar area, Xinjiang of China显示文摘Baogutu copper deposit in Western Junggar area is a mesoscopic porphyry deposit found in recent years. Study on its geochronology will help further understand ore genesis and regional ore-forming pattern. A series of small quartz-diorite and granodiorite stocks outcrop at Baogutu area, numbered I―X according to their size. A detailed exploration on Number V stock confirmed it as a mesoscopic scale copper deposit, and various exploration work has been carried out on other stocks with ore-forming evidence. This paper studies geochronology of Number V stock using zircon SHRIMP U-Pb and single mineral K-Ar method. Twenty-five SHRIMP ages yield two 206Pb/238U weighed mean ages of 335.6 ± 7.8 Ma and 311.4 ± 3.3 Ma respectively. The older date is considered to be inherited zircon from either surrounding rock tuff or deep granitoid batholith, whereas the younger date is the formation age of ore-bearing intrusion. K-Ar ages of ore-forming biotites, 296.0 ± 3.7 Ma and 297.3 ± 3.8 Ma, in combination with Re-Os age of molybdenite, 310 Ma, confirm the ore-forming age of 310-296 Ma. Granophyre and dioritic porphyrite dikes cut Number V stock and their K-Ar ages range from 278 to 240 Ma, which confine the lower boundary of the mineralization. 6Differences in symptoms and pre-hospital delay among acute myocardial infarction patients according to ST-segment elevation on electrocardiogram: an analysis of China Acute Myocardial Infarction (CAMI) registry显示文摘Background: Approximately 70% patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) presented without ST-segment elevation on electrocardiogram. Patients with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) often presented with atypical symptoms, which may be related to pre-hospital delay and increased risk of mortality. However, up to date few studies reported detailed symptomatology of NSTEMI, particularly among Asian patients. The objective of this study was to describe and compare symptoms and presenting characteristics of NSTEMI vs. STEMI patients. Methods: We enrolled 21,994 patients diagnosed with AMI from China Acute Myocardial Infarction (CAMI) Registry between January 2013 and September 2014. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to ST-segment elevation: ST-segment elevation (STEMI) group and NSTEMI group. We extracted data on patients' characteristics and detailed symptomatology and compared these variables between two groups. Results: Compared with patients with STEMI (N=16,315), those with NSTEMI (N=5679) were older, more often females and more often have comorbidities. Patients with NSTEMI were less likely to present with persistent chest pain (54.3% vs.71.4%), diaphoresis (48.6% vs.70.0%), radiation pain (26.4% vs.33.8%), and more likely to have chest distress (42.4% vs.38.3%) than STEMI patients (all P<0.0001). Patients with NSTEMI were also had longer time to hospital. In multivariable analysis, NSTEMI was independent predictor of presentation without chest pain (odds ratio: 1.974, 95% confidence interval:1.849-2.107). Conclusions: Patients with NSTEMI were more likely to present with chest distress and pre-hospital patient delay compared with patients with STEMI. 7Protective effect of glutamine on intestinal injury and bacterial community in rats exposed to hypobaric hypoxia environment显示文摘AIM:To investigate the protective effect of glutamine(Gln)on intestinal injury and the bacterial community in rats exposed to hypobaric hypoxia environment.METHODS:Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into control,hypobaric hypoxia(HH),and hypobaric hypoxia+Gln(5.0 g/kg BW·d)(HG)groups.On the first 3 d,all rats were placed in a normal environment.After the third day,the HH and HG groups were transferred into a hypobaric chamber at a simulated elevation of 7000m for 5 d.The rats in the HG group were given Gln by gavage daily for 8 d.The rats in the control and HH groups were treated with the same volume of saline.The intestinal morphology,serum levels of malondialdehyde(MDA),superoxide dismutase(SOD),interleukin-6 (IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interferon-gamma(IFN-γ)and diamino oxidase(DAO)were examined.We also evaluated the expression levels of occludin,toll-like receptor 4(TLR4),nuclear factor-κB p65(NF-κB p65)and myeloid differentiation factor 88(MyD88),and examined the bacterial community in caecal contents.RESULTS:Hypobaric hypoxia induced the enlargement of the heart,liver,lung and kidney,and caused spleen atrophy.Intestinal villi damage was also observed in the HH group.Supplementation with Gln significantly alleviated hypobaric-induced damage to main organs including the intestine,increased serum SOD(1.14±0.03 vs 0.88±0.04,P<0.05)and MDA(8.35±1.60,P<0.01)levels and decreased serum IL-6(1172.13±30.49 vs 1407.05±34.36,P<0.05),TNF-α(77.46±0.78 vs 123.70±3.03,P<0.001),IFN-γ(1355.42±72.80 vs 1830.16±42.07,P<0.01)and DAO(629.30±9.15 vs 524.10±13.34,P<0.001)levels.Moreover,Gln significantly increased occludin(0.72±0.05 vs 0.09±0.01,P<0.001),TLR4(0.15±0.05 vs 0.30±0.09,P<0.05),MyD88(0.32±0.08 vs 0.71±0.06,P<0.01),and NF-κB p65(0.16±0.04 vs 0.44±0.03,P<0.01)expression levels and improved the intestinal bacterial community.CONCLUSION:Gln treatment protects from intestinal injury and regulates the gut flora imbalance in hypoxia environment.These effects may be related to the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway.Chun-Lan Xu Rui Sun Xiang-Jin Qiao Cui-Cui Xu Xiao-Ya Shang Wei-Ning Niu 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,16:29

9Effect of Hot Isostatic Pressing Conditions and Cooling Rate on Microstructure and Properties of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy from Atomized Powder显示文摘The effects of temperature and pressure on density, microstructure and mechanical properties of powder compacts during hot isostatic pressing(HIPping) were investigated. Optimized HIPping parameters of temperature range from 900 to 940℃, pressure over 100 MPa and holding time of 3 h, were obtained. Tensile properties after different heat treatments show that both the geometry of samples and cooling rate have a significant influence on mechanical properties. Finite element method was used to predict the temperature field distribution during HIPped sample cooling, and the experimental results are in agreement with simulation prediction. 10Epidemiology of Diabetes in Adults Aged 35 and Older from Shanghai,China显示文摘Objective This study aimed to investigate the epidemiology of diabetes in adults from Shanghai, aged 35 and older, in 2013. Methods We estimated the diabetes prevalence in a representative sample of 18,736 adults who were selected through a multistage stratified cluster sampling process. A standard questionnaire containing questions about demographic characteristics and lifestyle factors was distributed. After an overnight fast of at least 10 hours, a venous blood sample was collected from each participant. For each patient without a history of diabetes, another blood sample was drawn 120 min after an oral glucose tolerance test to identify undiagnosed diabetes and prediabetic condition. Results Among Shanghai residents aged 35 and above, the overall weighted prevalence of diabetes was 17.6% [95% confidence interval(CI): 16.4%-18.8%]. The prevalences were 19.3% in men and 15.8% in women as well as 19.1%, 15.4%, and 16.1% in urban, suburban, and rural residents, respectively. In addition, the weighted prevalence of prediabetes was 16.5%(95% CI: 15.3%-17.8%), with the prevalences of 16.5% in men, 16.6% in women, 15.2% in urban residents, 18.0% in suburban residents, and 18.5% in rural residents. Among all patients with diabetes, 68.1%(95% CI: 64.3%-71.6%) were aware of their status, 63.5%(95% CI: 60.0%-66.9%) received diabetes treatment, but only 35.1%(95% CI: 32.4%-37.8%) had adequate glycemic control. Conclusion In Shanghai, diabetes and prediabetes are highly prevalent. 11Novel Strategy for Synthesis of High Quality CdTe Nanocrystals in Aqueous Solution显示文摘A novel aqueous route for the synthesis of high-quality CdTe nanocrystals(NCs) is presented in this article. With both glutathione(GSH) and cysteine[n(GSH):n(cysteine)=1:3] as stabilizers, high-quality CdTe NCs with controllable photoluminescence(PL) wavelength from 500 to 630 nm can be prepared within 4 h. As-prepared CdTe NCs show higher photoluminescence quantum yields(PLQY) compared with CdTe NCs prepared via other aqueous methods. 14Clinical significance of diabetes on symptom and patient delay among patients with acute myocardial infarction——an analysis from China Acute Myocardial Infarction(CAMI) registry显示文摘Background Diabetes is frequently associated with poor prognosis among acute myocardial infarction(AMI)patients.Patients with these comorbidities often have atypical symptoms and subsequent delay in treatment.Few studies have reported detailed AMI symptoms in patients with diabetes.This study compared AMI symptoms and presentation characteristics between diabetics and non-diabetics.Methods We included patients from the China AMI registry diagnosed with AMI between January 2013 and September 2014.Baseline characteristics,symptomology,and delay in treatment were compared between diabetics and non-diabetics.Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to explore independent predictors of atypical symptoms.Results A total of 4450(20.2%)patients had diabetes.They were older,more often women,higher in body mass index,and more likely to have non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction.Fewer diabetic patients presented with persistent precordial chest pain(63.1%vs.68%,P<0.0001),diaphoresis(60.1%vs.65.6%,P<0.0001),fatigue(16.7%vs.18.3%,P=0.0123),and incontinence(0.4%vs.0.7%,P=0.0093).Time to hospital presentation was longer among patients with diabetes than those without.In multivariable analysis,diabetes was identified as an independent predictor of atypical symptoms(OR:1.112,95%CI:1.034?1.196).Conclusions Our study is the first large-scale study providing evidence that diabetics are less likely to present with typical chest pain and more likely to experience treatment delay when suffering from an AMI.Our results may increase clinician awareness of recognizing AMI patients rapidly to reduce diagnosis and treatment delay,particularly in the context of diabetes.Rui FU Si-Dong LI Chen-Xi SONG Jing-Ang YANG Hai-Yan XU Xiao-Jin GAO Yi XU Jian-Ping ZENG Jun-Nong LI Ke-Fei DOU Yue-Jin YANG on behalf of the CAMI Registry study group Beijing,China 2019Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2019,16,5:21

20Microwave Exposure Impairs Synaptic Plasticity in the Rat Hippocampus and PC12 Cells through Over-activation of the NMDA Receptor Signaling Pathway显示文摘Objective The aim of this study is to investigate whether microwave exposure would affect the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor(NMDAR) signaling pathway to establish whether this plays a role in synaptic plasticity impairment. Methods 48 male Wistar rats were exposed to 30 m W/cm2 microwave for 10 min every other day for three times. Hippocampal structure was observed through H&E staining and transmission electron microscope. PC12 cells were exposed to 30 m W/cm2 microwave for 5 min and the synapse morphology was visualized with scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. The release of amino acid neurotransmitters and calcium influx were detected. The expressions of several key NMDAR signaling molecules were evaluated. Results Microwave exposure caused injury in rat hippocampal structure and PC12 cells, especially the structure and quantity of synapses. The ratio of glutamic acid and gamma-aminobutyric acid neurotransmitters was increased and the intracellular calcium level was elevated in PC12 cells. A significant change in NMDAR subunits(NR1, NR2 A, and NR2B) and related signaling molecules(Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent kinase II gamma and phosphorylated c AMP-response element binding protein) were examined. Conclusion 30 m W/cm2 microwave exposure resulted in alterations of synaptic structure, amino acid neurotransmitter release and calcium influx.
