1A new bone repair scaffold combined with chitosan/ hydroxyapatite and sustained releasing icariin显示文摘Icariin, a plant-derived flavonol glycoside, has been proved as an osteoinductive agent for bone tissue engineering. A new bone repair scaffold was generated by thorough mixing of icariin and chitosan/ hydroxyapatite (icariin-CS/HA) using freeze-drying technigue. Characteristics of morphology, mechanical properties, biocompatibility, drug release behavior and bone repair abilities in vivo were evaluated. The results show that drug loading process of icariin did not affect physical structure of CS/HA composite significantly but decreased mechanical properies of CS/HA composite, which happened with a high dosage; icariin-CS/HA had favorable cell compatibility and promoted osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs; the controlled release of icariin was satisfactory and the release retained after 90 d in vitro. In addition, icariin-CS/HA scaffolds had favorable osteoconduction and osteoinduction in vivo, and could fill bone defect sites and stimulate newborn bone tissues formation at early stage. 3Distributed and Weighted Extreme Learning Machine for Imbalanced Big Data Learning显示文摘The Extreme Learning Machine(ELM) and its variants are effective in many machine learning applications such as Imbalanced Learning(IL) or Big Data(BD) learning. However, they are unable to solve both imbalanced and large-volume data learning problems. This study addresses the IL problem in BD applications. The Distributed and Weighted ELM(DW-ELM) algorithm is proposed, which is based on the Map Reduce framework. To confirm the feasibility of parallel computation, first, the fact that matrix multiplication operators are decomposable is illustrated.Then, to further improve the computational efficiency, an Improved DW-ELM algorithm(IDW-ELM) is developed using only one Map Reduce job. 4Largest Toothed Pterosaur Skull from the Early Cretaceous Yixian Formation of Western Liaoning, China, with Comments on the Family Boreopteridae显示文摘A new pterosaur Moganopterus zhuiana gen. et sp. nov. is erected based on a complete skull with lower jaws and anterior cervical vertebrae. It is characterized by much elongated upper and lower jaws with at least 62 total, long, curved teeth with sharp tips, a well developed parietal crest extending posterodorsally, forming an angle of 15 degrees with the ventral margin of the skull, the ratio of length to width of cervical vertebrae greater than 5:1. The skull length is 750 mm, and it is the largest toothed pterosaur found so far in the world. 5A New Oviraptorid Dinosaur (Theropoda: Oviraptorosauria) from the Late Cretaceous of Jiangxi Province, Southern China显示文摘A new oviraptorid dinosaur Jiangxisaurus ganzhouensis gen. et sp. nov., is erected based on a partial skeleton from the Upper Cretaceous Nanxiong Formation of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. The new taxon differs from other oviraptorids in the weakly downturned rostrum of the lower jaw, much-elongated mandible with a height-to-length ratio being about 20% and the length ratio of radius to humerus of about 0.70. 7In vitro effects of sodium hyaluronate on the proliferation and the apoptosis in chondrocytes from patients with Kashin-Beck disease and osteoarthritis显示文摘Objective:To identify the in vitro effects of sodium hyaluronate(HA) on the proliferation and the apoptosis of chondrocytes from patients with Kashin-Beck disease(KBD) and osteoarthritis(OA). Methods:Samples of articular cartilages from KBD and OA patients, as well as healthy volunteers(6 subjects in each of the 3 groups) were dissected, digested with collagenase and the cells cultured in monolayers. Chondrocytes from each sample were assigned to an untreated group and two HA-treated groups: H0(no HA), H100(HA, 0.1 g/L) and H500(HA, 0.5 g/L). The first passage chondrocytes were used to observe proliferation using the MTT assay, and apoptosis by flow cytometry through Annexin V/PI staining. Results:HA promoted proliferation of chondrocytes in all the three groups, and in KBD and OA groups, for cells cultured for 4 and 6 days, H500 significantly promoted the cell proliferation. The apoptotic rates of both KBD and OA group chondrocytes were in the order H500 < HA100 < H0. 10A New Lizard(Lepidosauria:Squamata) from the Upper Cretaceous of Henan,China显示文摘Funiusaurus luanchuanensis gen.et sp.nov.was described on the basis of an incomplete skull from the Upper Cretaceous Qiupa Formation of the Tantou Basin in Luanchuan County,Henan Province.It is the second representative of lizards known from Luanchuan and adds a new member to the Luanchuan Fauna.F.luanchuanensis is a small-sized lizard and systematically assigned to the Polyglyphanodontidae of the Teiioidea because of the presence of a caniniform tooth and an elongate posterior process of the postorbital.It is distinctive in that the heterodont dentition bears 19 teeth in both the upper and lower jaws,the 3rd maxillary tooth is large and caniniform,the post-caniniform teeth in maxilla and those posterior to the 3rd dentary tooth are chisel-like in lateral view,the prefrontal possesses a fossa on its lateral surface,the postorbital with an extremely elongate posterior process and the well-developed retroarticular process has a deep fossa on its dorsal surface.In phylogeny,our analysis suggests a close relationship of Funiusaurus to the large-sized Tianyusaurus from the same basin within the Tuberocephalosaurinae.The discovery of Funiusaurus is significant in confirming the status of the Tuberocephalosaurinae,which includes a group of the Asian members of the Polyglyphanodontidae only.XU Li WU Xiaochun Lü Junchang JIA Songhai ZHANG Jiming PU Hanyong ZHANG Xingliao 2014Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2014,88,4:2

14Engineering multifunctional bioadhesive powders through dynamic metal-ligand coordination显示文摘Bioadhesive gels with robust adhesion on wet and irregular tissue surfaces are desirable for clinical applications.Assembly of bioadhesive powders is an effective strategy for obtaining gels that adhere to wet and irregular tissue surfaces by absorbing interfacial water.However,current bioadhesive powders lack positive biological functions and are prone to postoperative adhesion.Here,we present a powder strategy based on metal-ligand coordination to create a series of bioadhesive polyacrylic acid(PAA)gels.In the gel network,metal ions(M^(n+))are used to coordinate with the carboxy ligands of PAA to form dynamic noncovalent crosslinks.The powders can absorb interfacial water and assemble into gels on wet and irregular tissue surfaces within a few seconds,forming an initial adhesion layer by electrostatic interactions.Furthermore,the polymers can diffuse into the tissue matrix,and metal-ligand coordination is reconstructed to enhance the adhesion.Moreover,with a cationic shield layer,the bioadhesive powders can effectively avoid postoperative adhesion.Importantly,M^(n+) ions endow the gel with customized biological functions.We demonstrate that the hemostatic,antibacterial,peroxidase-like catalytic,and photodetachment abilities of the gels by incorporating different M^(n+) ions.These advantages make the bioadhesive powder a promising platform for diverse tissue repair applications.Junchang Guo Yue Hou Liansong Ye Junnan Chen Hong Wang Li Yang Jinbo Jiang Qiangqiang Sun Chaoming Xie Bing Hu Jiaxi Cui Xu Deng 2022Science China Chemistry2022,65,11:0
15Amyloid precursor-like protein 2 C-terminal fragments upregulate S100A9 gene and protein expression in BV2 cells显示文摘The murine microglial cell line BV2 has neuroprotective effects, but is toxic to neurons by secreting inflammatory cytokines, and is an important target in the treatment of nerve inflammation and neurodegenerative diseases. In the present study, we observed the effects of transfecting three amyloid precursor-like protein 2(APLP2) C-terminal fragments(CTFs; C57, C50 and C31) in the p EGFP-N1 vector on S100A9 expression in BV2 cells. Reverse transcription-PCR, western blot assay and immunocytochemistry revealed that S100A9 protein and m RNA expression was greater in BV2 cells after CTF transfection than after mock transfection with an empty vector. Furthermore, transfection of full-length APLP2-751 resulted in low levels of S100A9 protein expression. 16Screening of New High Quality and High Yield Sweet Potato Varieties in Zaozhuang of Shandong Province显示文摘[Objectives]To compare the growth period,dry matter content and yield of 12 different sweet potato varieties,so as to screen out new sweet potato varieties with high yield,high quality and high dry matter content suitable for cultivation in Zaozhuang of Shandong Province.[Methods]Field random arrangement,three replicates,and field observation were adopted,and data were surveyed and summarized.[Results]There were significant differences in the maturity period between varieties.Longshu 9,Hongxiangjiao,Sushu 8,Yanshu 25,and Yanshu 0747 in the fresh eating group were mature earlier,and Yuzi 7 was mature later;Xushu 32 in the starch group was mature earlier,while Xushu 22(ck),Shangshu 19,Jishu 25,and Jishu 98 had moderate maturity period,and Jixu 23 was mature later.The difference in the yield between the fresh eating group and the starch group reached a very significant level.In the fresh eating group,Yanshu 25 had the highest yield,followed by Longshu 9,and then Yanshu 0747;in the starch group,Jishu 98 had the highest yield,followed by Shangshu 19,and then Jixu 23.Besides,there were significant differences in the dry matter content between varieties.In the fresh eating group,Yuzi 7 had the highest dry matter content(30.4%),followed by Yanshu 25(28.1%),and then Yanshu 0747(28.1%);in the starch group,Xushu 32 had the highest dry matter content(33.6%),followed by Jishu 25(32%),and then Jishu 98(31.5%).[Conclusions]Combining the maturity period,yield,dry matter content,appearance,taste and unique ecological conditions in Zaozhuang area,the varieties suitable for cultivation in Zaozhuang area were screened:in the fresh eating group,it was Yanshu 25 and Longshu 9;in the starch group,it was Jishu 98,Shangshu 19,and Jixu 23.Jie XU Jialiang LI Junchang LIANG 2021Asian Agricultural Research2021,13,12:0
