1Inkjet printing for flexible electronics:Materials,processes and equipments显示文摘Inkjet printing, known as digital writing technique, can directly deposit functional materials to form pattern onto substrate. This paper provides an overview of inkjet printing technologies for flexible electronics. Firstly, we highlight materials challenges in implementing flexible devices into practical application, especially for inkjet printing process. Then the micro/nano-patterning technologies of inkjet printing are discussed, including conventional inkjet printing techniques and electrohydrodynamic printing techniques. Thirdly, the related equipments on inkjet printing are shown. Finally, challenges for its future development are also discussed. 2Individualized prediction of perineural invasion in colorectal cancer: development and validation of a radiomics prediction model显示文摘Objective: To develop and validate a radiomics prediction model for individualized prediction of perineural invasion(PNI) in colorectal cancer(CRC).Methods: After computed tomography(CT) radiomics features extraction, a radiomics signature was constructed in derivation cohort(346 CRC patients). A prediction model was developed to integrate the radiomics signature and clinical candidate predictors [age, sex, tumor location, and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) level]. Apparent prediction performance was assessed. After internal validation, independent temporal validation(separate from the cohort used to build the model) was then conducted in 217 CRC patients. The final model was converted to an easy-to-use nomogram.Results: The developed radiomics nomogram that integrated the radiomics signature and CEA level showed good calibration and discrimination performance [Harrell's concordance index(c-index): 0.817; 95% confidence interval(95% CI): 0.811–0.823]. Application of the nomogram in validation cohort gave a comparable calibration and discrimination(c-index: 0.803; 95% CI: 0.794–0.812).Conclusions: Integrating the radiomics signature and CEA level into a radiomics prediction model enables easy and effective risk assessment of PNI in CRC. 3PBPK modeling and simulation in drug research and development显示文摘Physiologically based pharmacokinetic(PBPK) modeling and simulation can be used to predict the pharmacokinetic behavior of drugs in humans using preclinical data.It can also explore the effects of various physiologic parameters such as age,ethnicity,or disease status on human pharmacokinetics,as well as guide dose and dose regiment selection and aid drug–drug interaction risk assessment.PBPK modeling has developed rapidly in the last decade within both the field of academia and the pharmaceutical industry,and has become an integral tool in drug discovery and development.In this mini-review,the concept and methodology of PBPK modeling are briefly introduced.Several case studies were discussed on how PBPK modeling and simulation can be utilized through various stages of drug discovery and development.These case studies are from our own work and the literature for better understanding of the absorption,distribution,metabolism and excretion(ADME) of a drug candidate,and the applications to increase efficiency,reduce the need for animal studies,and perhaps to replace clinical trials.The regulatory acceptance and industrial practices around PBPK modeling and simulation is also discussed.Xiaomei Zhuang Chuang Lu 2016Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2016,6,5:21

5Geochemical and isotopic characteristics of volcanic rocks from the northern East China Sea shelf margin and the Okinawa Trough显示文摘Volcanic rocks both from the northern East China Sea (NECS) shelf margin and the northern Okinawa Trough are subalkaline less aluminous,and lower in High Field Strength Elements (HFSE).These rocks are higher in Large Ion Lithophile Elements (LILE),thorium and uranium contents,positive lead anomalies,negative Nb-Ta anomalies,and enrichment in Light Rare Earth Elements (LREE).Basalts from the NECS shelf margin are akin to Indian Ocean Mid-Ocean Ridge Basalt (MORB),and rhyolites from the northern Okinawa Trough have the highest 207 Pb/ 204 Pb and 208 Pb/ 204 Pb ratios.The NECS shelf margin basalts have lower 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios,ε N d and σ 18 O than the northern Okinawa Trough silicic rocks.According to 40 K– 40 Ar isotopic ages of basalts from the NECS shelf margin,rifting of the Okinawa Trough may have been active since at least 3.65–3.86 Ma.The origin of the NECS shelf margin basalt can be explained by the interaction of melt derived from Indian Ocean MORB-like mantle with enriched subcontinental lithosphere.The basalts from both sides of the Okinawa Trough may have a similar origin during the initial rifting of the Okinawa Trough,and the formation of basaltic magmas closely relates to the thinning of continental crust.The source of the formation of the northern Okinawa Trough silicic rocks was different from that of the middle Okinawa Trough,which could have been generated by the interaction of basaltic melt with an enriched crustal component.From the Ryukyu island arc to East China,the Cenozoic basalts have apparently increasing trends of MgO contents and ratios of LREE to Heavy Rare Earth Elements (HREE),suggesting that the trace element variabilities of basalts may have been influenced by the subduction of the Philippine Sea plate,and that the effects of subduction of the Philippine Sea plate on the chemical composition of basaltic melts have had a decreasing effect from the Ryukyu island arc to East China.ZENG Zhigang YU Shaoxiong WANG Xiaoyuan FU Yongtao YIN Xuebo ZHANG Guoliang WANG Xiaomei CHEN Shuai 2010Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010,29,4:19

7Chinese expert consensus statement on the diagnosis and treatment of fulminant myocarditis显示文摘Fulminant myocarditis is primarily caused by infection with any number of a variety of viruses. It arises quickly, progresses rapidly, and may lead to severe heart failure or circulatory failure presenting as rapid-onset hypotension and cardiogenic shock,with mortality rates as high as 50%–70%. Most importantly, there are no treatment options, guidelines or an expert consensus statement. Here, we provide the first expert consensus, the Chinese Society of Cardiology Expert Consensus Statement on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Fulminant Myocarditis, based on data from our recent clinical trial(NCT03268642). In this statement, we describe the clinical features and diagnostic criteria of fulminant myocarditis, and importantly, for the first time,we describe a new treatment regimen termed life support-based comprehensive treatment regimen. The core content of this treatment regimen includes(i) mechanical life support(applications of mechanical respirators and circulatory support systems,including intraaortic balloon pump and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation),(ii) immunological modulation by using sufficient doses of glucocorticoid, immunoglobulin and(iii) antiviral reagents using neuraminidase inhibitor. 8Chronic intermittent hypoxia induces cardiac inflammation and dysfunction in a rat obstructive sleep apnea model显示文摘Chronic intermittent hypoxia is considered to play an important role in cardiovascular pathogenesis during the development of obstructive sleep apnea(OSA).We used a well-described OSA rat model induced with simultaneous intermittent hypoxia.Male Sprague Dawley rats were individually placed into plexiglass chambers with air pressure and components were electronically controlled.The rats were exposed to intermittent hypoxia 8 hours daily for 5weeks.The changes of cardiac structure and function were examined by ultrasound.The cardiac pathology,apoptosis,and fibrosis were analyzed by H&E staining,TUNNEL assay,and picosirius staining,respectively.The expression of inflammation and fibrosis marker genes was analyzed by quantitative real-time PCR and Western blot.Chronic intermittent hypoxia/low pressure resulted in significant increase of left ventricular internal diameters(LVIDs),endsystolic volume(ESV),end-diastolic volume(EDV),and blood lactate level and marked reduction in ejection fraction and fractional shortening.Chronic intermittent hypoxia increased TUNNEL-positive myocytes,disrupted normal arrangement of cardiac fibers,and increased Sirius stained collagen fibers.The expression levels of hypoxia induced factor(HIF)-l α,NF-κB,IL-6,and matrix metallopeptidase 2(MMP-2) were significantly increased in the heart of rats exposed to chronic intermittent hypoxia.In conclusion,the left ventricular function was adversely affected by chronic intermittent hypoxia,which is associated with increased expression of HIF-lα and NF-κB signaling molecules and development of cardiac inflammation,apoptosis and fibrosis.Qin Wei Yeping Bian Fuchao Yu Qiang Zhang Guanghao Zhang Yang Li Songsong Song Xiaomei Ren Jiayi Tong 2016The Journal of Biomedical Research2016,30,6:15
9External Characteristics and Internal Flow Features of a Centrifugal Pump during Rapid Startup显示文摘Centrifugal pumps always work under steady conditions,and many researches focus on the steady operation.But transient conditions,such as sudden startup and shutdown,are inevitable.The researches on the inner flow of centrifugal pumps under transient conditions have been done,and they show that the transient operation is different from the steady operation.In order to research the evolution of unsteady flow in a centrifugal pump under transient conditions,and to investigate the mechanism of transient effects by analyzing the unsteady flow in a centrifugal pump,the external characteristic experiment and the internal flow numerical calculation of the centrifugal pump with an open impeller during startup is presented.The relationships of the rotation speed,capacity and head between start-time are obtained by the external characteristics experiment.The numerical calculations under startup process are carried out by using the k-e model and N-S equation.The distribution of velocity and pressure in the inner channel of the tested pump was obtained by choosing fourteen start-time points and twelve geometrical points in the impeller channel during startup.The calculation results show that the velocity and the pressure increase linearly with the start-time before rotation's speed gets steady,then changes almost horizontally after rotation speed becomes steady,then fluctuates until being steady.The internal flow characteristics are in good agreement with the external characteristic experimental results and numerical calculation.The simulation methods and results make the basis for the diagnosis and optimization of under flow in the centrifugal pump during transient operation.ZHU Zuchao GUO Xiaomei CUI Baoling LI Yi 2011Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,5:14
10Changes of Temperature and Precipitation Extremes in Hengduan Mountains,Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in 1961-2008显示文摘Variations and trends in extreme climate events are more sensitive to climate change than the mean values,and so have received much attention.In this study,twelve indices of temperature extremes and 11 indices of precipitation extremes at 32 meteorological stations in Hengduan Mountains were examined for the period 1961-2008.The results reveal statistically significant increases in the temperature of the warmest and coldest nights and in the frequencies of extreme warm days and nights.Decreases of the diurnal temperature range and the numbers of frost days and ice days are statistically significant.Regional averages of growing season length also display the trends consistent and significant with warming.At a large proportion of the stations,patterns of temperature extremes are consistent with warming since 1961:warming trends in minimum temperature indices are greater than those relating to maximum temperature.As the center of the Shaluli Mountain,the warming magnitudes decrease from inner to outer.Changes in precipitation extremes is low:trends are difficult to detect against the larger inter-annual and decadal-scale variability of precipitation,and only the wet day precipitation and the regional trend in consecutive dry days are significant at the 0.05 level.It can be concluded that the variation of extreme precipitation events is not obvious in the Hengduan Mountains,however,the regional trends generally decrease from the south to the north.Overall,the spatial distribution of temporal changes of all extreme climate indices in the Hengduan Mountains illustrated here reflects the climatic complexity in mountainous regions.NING Baoying YANG Xiaomei CHANG Li 2012Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,4:14

12Schisandra sphenanthera extract(Wuzhi Tablet)protects against chronic-binge and acute alcohol-induced liver injury by regulating the NRF2-ARE pathway in mice显示文摘Alcohol abuse leads to alcoholic liver disease and no effective therapy is currently available.Wuzhi Tablet(WZ), a preparation of extract from Schisandra sphenanthera that is a traditional hepatoprotective herb, exerted a significant protective effect against acetaminophen-induced liver injury in our recent studies, but whether WZ can alleviate alcohol-induced toxicity remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the contribution of WZ to alcohol-induced liver injury by using chronic-binge and acute models of alcohol feeding. The activities of ALT and AST in serum were assessed as well as the level of GSH and the activity of SOD in the liver. The expression of CYP2E1 and proteins in the NRF2-ARE signaling pathway including NRF2, GCLC, GCLM, HO-1 were measured, and the effect of WZ on NRF2 transcriptional activity was determined. We found that both models resulted in liver steatosis accompanied by increased transaminase activities, but that liver injury was significantly attenuated by WZ. WZ administration also inhibited CYP2E1 expression induced by alcohol, and elevated the level of GSH and the activity of SOD in the liver. Moreover, the NRF2-ARE signaling pathway was activated by WZ andthe target genes were all upregulated. Furthermore, WZ significantly activated NRF2 transcriptional activity. 14Genetic dissection of maize seedling root system architecture traits using an ultra-high density bin-map and a recombinant inbred line population显示文摘Maize(Zea mays) root system architecture(RSA)mediates the key functions of plant anchorage and acquisition of nutrients and water. In this study,a set of 204 recombinant inbred lines(RILs) was derived from the widely adapted Chinese hybrid ZD958(Zheng58 Chang7-2),genotyped by sequencing(GBS) and evaluated as seedlings for 24 RSA related traits divided into primary,seminal and total root classes. Signi ficant differences between the means of the parental phenotypes were detected for 18 traits,and extensive transgressive segregation in the RIL population was observed for all traits. Moderate to strong relationships among the traits were discovered. A total of 62 quantitative trait loci(QTL) were identi fied that individually explained from1.6% to 11.6%(total root dry weight/total seedling shoot dry weight) of the phenotypic variation. Eighteen,24 and 20 QTL were identi fied for primary,seminal and total root classes of traits,respectively. We found hotspots of 5,3,4 and 12 QTL in maize chromosome bins 2.06,3.02-03,9.02-04,and 9.05-06,respectively,implicating the presence of root gene clusters or pleiotropic effects. 16Aluminium is essential for root growth and development of tea plants(Camellia sinensis)^∞显示文摘On acid soils,the trivalent aluminium ion(Al3+)predominates and is very rhizotoxic to most plant species.For some native plant species adapted to acid soils including tea(Camellia sinensis),Al3+has been regarded as a beneficial mineral element.In this study,we discovered that Al3+is actually essential for tea root growth and development in all the tested varieties.Aluminum ion promoted new root growth in five representative tea varieties with dose-dependent responses to Al3+availability.In the absence of Al3+,the tea plants failed to generate new roots,and the root tips were damaged within 1 d of Al deprivation.Struc-tural analysis of root tips demonstrated that Al was required for root meristem development and activity.In situ morin@staining of Al3+in roots revealed that Al mainly localized to nuclei in root meristem cells,but then gradually moved to the cytosol when Al3+was subsequently withdrawn.This movement of Al3+from nuclei to cytosols was accompanied by exacerbated DNA damage,which suggests that the nuclear-targeted Al primarily acts to maintain DNA integrity.Taken together,these results provide novel evidence that Al3+is essential for root growth in tea plants through maintenance of DNA integrity in meristematic cells.Lili Sun Mengshi Zhang Xiaomei Liu Qianzhuo Mao Chen Shi Leon VKochian Hong Liao 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,7:12
17Species composition and distribution of marine nematode community in the North Taiwan Strait显示文摘Marine free-living nematodes were investigated at 13 sampling stations divided into three transects in the northern Taiwan Strait in February 1998. One hundred species of marine nematodes belonging to 91 Genera 28 Families 3 Orders were identified and were first recorded in the northern Taiwan Strait. The dominant species were Vasostoma sp., Sabatieria sp. 1, Linhystera sp. 1, Spilophorella sp., Daptonema sp., Halalaimus sp. and Dorylaimopsis variabilis. Their main densities were all over 4 950 ind./m2. According to mean density at transects, marine nematode density decreased from coastal Weitou to off Minjiang Estuary, which was similar to polychaete distribution in northern Taiwan Strait. The selective deposit feeder (1A) was the dominant food type of marine nematodes in the northern Taiwan Strait, but non-selective deposit feeders (1B) and epigrowth feeders (2A) occupied high proportion, indicating diverse feeding types of marine nematodes in the northern Taiwan Strait. 18Formation of Fe-oxyhydroxides from the East Pacific Rise near latitude 13°N:Evidence from mineralogical and geochemical data显示文摘The mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of Fe-oxyhydroxide samples from one dredge station (long. 103°54.48'W, lat. 12°42.30'N, water depth 2655 m) on the East Pacific Rise near lat 13°N were analyzed by XRD, ICP-AES, and ICP-MS. Most Fe-oxyhydroxides are amorphous, with a few sphalerite microlites. In comparison with Fe-oxyhydroxides from other fields, the variable ranges in the chemical composition of Fe-oxyhydroxide samples are very narrow; their Fe, Si, and Mn contents were 39.90%, 8.92%, and 1.59%, respectively; they have high Cu (0.88%―1.85%) and Co (65×10?6―704×10?6) contents, and contain Co+Cu+Zn+Ni> 1.01%. The trace-element (As, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ba, Sr) and major-element (Fe, Ca, Al, Mg) contents of these samples are in the range of hydrothermal sulfide from the East Pacific Rise near 13°N, reflecting that this type of Fe-oxyhydroxide constitutes a secondary oxidation product of hydrothermal sulfide. The Fe-oxyhydroxide samples from one dredge station on the East Pacific Rise near 13°N are lower in ΣREE (5.44×10?6―17.01×10?6), with a distinct negative Ce anomaly (0.12 ― 0.28). The Fe-oxyhydroxide samples have similar chondrite-normalized rare-earth-element (REE) patterns to that of seawater, and they are very different from the REE composition characteristics of hydrothermal plume particles and hydrothermal fluids, showing that the REEs of Fe-oxyhydroxide are a major constituent of seawater and that the Fe-oxyhydroxides can become a sink of REE from seawater. The quick settling of hydrothermal plume particles resulted in the lower REE content and higher Mn content of these Fe-oxyhydroxides, which are captured in part of the V and P from seawater by adsorption. The Fe-oxyhydroxides from one dredge station on the East Pacific Rise near 13°N were formed by secondary oxidation in a low temperature, oxygenated environment. 19Some Aspects of High Manganese Twinning-Induced Plasticity (TWIP) Steel, A Review显示文摘High manganese twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steel is a new kind of structural material and possesses both high strength and superior plasticity and can meet the weight-lightening requirement for manufacturing vehicle body. The excellent formability of the TWIP steel comes from the extraordinary strain hardening effect during plastic deformation. The reduction of specific weight by aluminum alloying and strain hardening effect can lead to an effective weight reduction of the steel components, and provide a better choice for materials in vehicle body design. The TWIP effect in high Mn steels is generally associated with the successive workhardening generated by twins and influenced by some factors, such as Mn content, Al addition revealed by stacking fault energy (SFE), grain size, deformation temperature and strain rate. The present review introduces some aspects of the TWIP steels relating to their physical metallurgy, influencing factors associated with their deformation mechanisms, and a prospect for the future investigation is also described. 20Towards Kinetic Modeling of Global Metabolic Networks: Methylobacterium extorquens AM1 Growth as Validation显示文摘Here we report a systematic method for constructing a large scale kinetic metabolic model and its initial application to the modeling of central metabolism of Methylobacterium extorquens AM1, a methylotrophic and environmental important bacterium. Its central metabolic network includes formaldehyde metabolism, serine cycle, citric acid cycle, pentose phosphate pathway, gluconeogensis, PHB synthesis and acetyl-CoA conversion pathway, respiration and energy metabolism. Through a systematic and consistent procedure of finding a set of parameters in the physiological range we overcome an outstanding difficulty in large scale kinetic modeling: the requirement for a massive number of enzymatic reaction parameters. We are able to construct the kinetic model based on general biological considerations and incomplete experimental kinetic parameters. Our method consists of the following major steps: 1) using a generic enzymatic rate equation to reduce the number of enzymatic parameters to a minimum set while still preserving their characteristics; 2) using a set of steady state fluxes and metabolite concentrations in the physiological range as the expected output steady state fluxes and metabolite concentrations for the kinetic model to restrict the parametric space of enzymatic reactions; 3) choosing enzyme constants K's and K'eqs optimized for reactions under physiological concentrations, if their experimental values are unknown; 4) for models which do not cover the entire metabolic network of the organisms, designing a dynamical exchange for the coupling between the metabolism represented in the model and the rest not included.Ping Ao Lik Wee Lee Mary E.
