1High-performance fiber-integrated multifunctional graphene-optoelectronic device with photoelectric detection and optic-phase modulation显示文摘In graphene-based optoelectronic devices,the ultraweak interaction between a light and monolayer graphene leads to low optical absorption and low responsivity for the photodetectors and relative high half-wave voltage for the phase modulator.Here,an integration of the monolayer graphene onto the side-polished optical fiber is demonstrated,which is capable of providing a cost-effective strategy to enhance the light–graphene interaction,allowing us to obtain a highly efficient optical absorption in graphene and achieve multifunctions:photodetection and optical phase modulation.As a photodetector,the device has ultrahigh responsivity(1.5×10^(7) A/W)and high external quantum efficiency(>1.2×10^(9)%).Additionally,the polybutadiene/polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)film on the graphene can render the device an optical phase modulator through the large thermo-optic effect of the PMMA.As a phase modulator,the device has a relatively low half-wave voltage of 3 V with a 16 dB extinction ratio in Mach–Zehnder interferometer configuration.LINQING ZHUO PENGPENG FAN SHUANG ZHANG YUANSONG ZHAN YANMEI LINYU ZHANG DONGQUAN LI ZHEN CHE WENGUO ZHU HUADAN ZHENG JIEYUAN TANG JUN ZHANG YONGCHUN ZHONG WENXIAO FANG GUOGUANG LU JIANHUI YU ZHE CHEN 2020Photonics Research2020,8,12:3
2Preparation and characterization of carbonyl iron/strontium hexaferrite magnetorheological fluids显示文摘The heat transfer oil-based magnetorheological fluid(MRF) was prepared using oleic acid-modified micron carbonyl iron powder as a magnetic dispersed phase and strontium hexaferrite(SrFe_(12)O_(19))nanoparticles as an additive.The sedimentation stability of MRFs was studied.The results indicated that the stability of MRFs was improved remarkably by adding SrFe_(12)O_(19) nanoparticles and the sedimentation ratio was only 0.88 in 20 days when the content of nanoparticles reached 10 wt%.The Theological properties were characterized by a HAAKE rheometer without a magnetic field and a capillary rheometer with and without a magnetic field.The effects of SrFe_(12)O_(19) nanoparticles,the temperature,and magnetic field strength were investigated.In addition,the rheological properties could be predicted well using the improved Herschel-Bulkley model,even under a magnetic field.A theoretical model was also proposed to predict the yield stress based on the microstructure of the MRF under an applied magnetic field.Jianrong Liu Xianjun Wang Xia Tang Ruoyu Hong Yaqiong Wang Wenguo Feng 2015Particuology2015,13,5:3
3Process operation performance of PDMS membrane pervaporation coupled with fermentation for efficient bioethanol production显示文摘There would be strong product inhibition on ethanol fermentation process if ethanol is not removed in situ from broth. PDMS membrane pervaporation coupled with fermentation is a promising process for efficient bioethanol production since ethanol inhibition is relieved or eliminated. From the perspective of process operation, membrane separation performance, ethanol fermentation performance and the subsequent processing on membrane downstream are the three key issues. This review aims at contributing a comprehensive overview on the operation performance of the integrated process. The state-of-the-art of the three key issues related to the operation performance is focused. 8Changes in circulating inflammatory cells and the relationship to secondary brain injury in patients with craniocerebral injury显示文摘BACKGROUND:Recent studies have indicated that reactive encephalitis plays an important role in secondary tissue damage after craniocerebral injury. OBJECTIVE: To observe changes in white blood cells (WBC) and polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) in peripheral blood, and to determine their role in secondary brain insult in patients with craniocerebral injury. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A case-control study at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Affiliated Hospital North Sichuan University of Medical Sciences between August 2007 and May 2008. PARTICIPANTS: Sixty-three patients, admitted within 24 hours after craniocerebral injury and who received no surgery, were included in the study. The cohort consisted of 41 males and 22 females, aged 9–72 years, with an average age of 42 years. Ten healthy volunteers, selected from the Department of Neurosurgery, were designated as the control group. METHODS: WBC and PMN from the peripheral blood were measured 0, 24, 48, 72, and 168 hours after admission to hospital. The Glasgow coma scale, area of cerebral hemorrhage, and degree of brain edema were simultaneously determined. The Glasgow outcome scale was evaluated six months after injury. The relationship between changes in WBC and PMN were analyzed. Sixty-three patients were divided into 0, 24, 48, 72, and 168 hours groups, with admission time to hospital as the determining factor. As controls, WBC and PMN of peripheral blood were also detected in 10 healthy volunteers. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The main outcome measures were WBC and PMN counts in the peripheral blood at 0, 24, 48, 72, and 168 hours after admission to hospital, the mutual relationship between GCS, WBC and PMN, and changes in brain hemorrhage volume and edema size. RESULTS: WBC peaked at 24 hours after injury, and PMN peaked at 48 hours after injury (P < 0.01). These measures negatively correlated to the Glasgow coma scale (r = -0.657, -0.541, respectively, P < 0.05). In patients with Glasgow coma sale < 8, WBC and PMN were significantly higher than in the patients with GCS ≥ 8 (P < 0.05). Cerebral hemorrhage reached a peak at 24 hours after injury, and the degree of brain edema was maximal at 168 hours after injury. WBC and PMN counts were positively correlated to cerebral hemorrhage volume and brain edema size (P < 0.05). 10The in vitro and in vivo anti-tumor effects of MTX-Fe_3O_4-PLLA-PEG-PLLA microspheres prepared by suspension-enhanced dispersion by supercritical CO_2显示文摘The in vitro and in vivo anti-tumor efficacy of methotrexate-loaded Fe3O4-poly-L-lactide-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly-L-lactide magnetic composite microspheres(MTX-Fe3O4-PLLA-PEG-PLLA MCMs,MMCMs),which were produced by co-precipitation(C)and microencapsulation(M)in a supercritical process,was evaluated at various levels:cellular,molecular,and integrated.The results at the cellular level indicate that MMCMs(M)show a better anti-proliferation activity than raw MTX and could induce morphological changes of cells undergoing apoptosis.At the molecular level,MMCMs(M)lead to a significantly higher relative mRNA expression of bax/bcl-2 and caspase-3 than MMCMs(C)at 10μg mL-1(P<0.01);and the pro-caspase-3protein expression measured by Western blot analysis also demonstrates that MMCMs(M)can effectively activate pro-caspase-3.At the integrated level,mice bearing a sarcoma-180 tumor are used;in vivo anti-tumor activity tests reveal that MMCMs(M)with magnetic induction display a much higher tumor suppression rate and lower toxicity than raw MTX.Pharmacokinetic studies show that MMCMs(M)with magnetic induction significantly increase the accumulation of MTX in the tumor tissue compared with the other treatments.These results suggest that the MMCMs(M)prepared by the SpEDS process have great potential to play a positive role in the magnetic targeted therapy field.CHEN AiZheng DANG TingTing WANG ShiBin TANG Na LIU YuanGang WU WenGuo 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,7:1
11Changes in platelet parameters and secondary brain injury in acute craniocerebral trauma显示文摘Changes in platelet parameters are important in secondary brain injury in acute craniocerebral trauma.We selected 163 patients with craniocerebral trauma who were admitted within 24 hours with nonoperative therapy.Platelet parameters of 40 healthy subjects served as controls.Platelet number was decreased,while mean platelet volume and platelet distribution width values were increased,at 1 and 3 days after injury.Platelet number was lower and mean platelet volume and platelet distribution width were larger in patients with traumatic cerebral infarction and those in Glasgow Coma Scale score < 8 group.Platelet number was negatively correlated to volume of cerebral edema,but positively correlated to Glasgow Outcome Scale score.These data indicate that changes in platelet parameters may be utilized to indicate the state of central nervous system injury and patient prognosis.Xiaoping Tang Chao You Hua Peng Tao Zhang Wenguo Tang Jian Qi Renguo Luo Yuanchuan Wang Ling Feng Zhangyang Gou Junwei Duan Shun Li 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,20:0
12Local bone metabolism balance regulation via double-adhesive hydrogel for fixing orthopedic implants显示文摘The effective osteointegration of orthopedic implants is a key factor for the success of orthopedic surgery.However,local metabolic imbalance around implants under osteoporosis condition could jeopardize the fixation effect.Inspired by the bone structure and the composition around implants under osteoporosis condition,alendronate(A)was grafted onto methacryloyl hyaluronic acid(H)by activating the carboxyl group of methacryloyl hyaluronic acid to be bonded to inorganic calcium phosphate on trabecular bone,which is then integrated with aminated bioactive glass(AB)modified by oxidized dextran(O)for further adhesion to organic collagen on the trabecular bone.The hybrid hydrogel could be solidified on cancellous bone in situ under UV irradiation and exhibits dual adhesion to organic collagen and inorganic apatite,promoting osteointegration of orthopedic implants,resulting in firm stabilization of the implants in cancellous bone areas.In vitro,the hydrogel was evidenced to promote osteogenic differentiation of embryonic mouse osteoblast precursor cells(MC3T3-E1)as well as inhibit the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand(RANKL)-induced osteoclast differentiation of macrophages,leading to the upregulation of osteogenic-related gene and protein expression.In a rat osteoporosis model,the bone-implant contact(BIC)of the hybrid hydrogel group increased by 2.77,which is directly linked to improved mechanical stability of the orthopedic implants.Overall,this organic-inorganic,dual-adhesive hydrogel could be a promising candidate for enhancing the stability of orthopedic implants under osteoporotic conditions.Wei Jiang Fushan Hou Yong Gu Qimanguli Saiding Pingping Bao Jincheng Tang Liang Wu Chunmao Chen Cailiang Shen Catarina Leite Pereira Marco Sarmento Bruno Sarmento Wenguo Cui Liang Chen 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,6:0

15High-sensitivity and fast-response fiber optic temperature sensor using an anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguide mechanism显示文摘Temperature sensing is essential for human health monitoring.High-sensitivity(>1 nm∕℃)fiber sensors always require long interference paths and temperature-sensitive materials,leading to a long sensor and thus slow response(6–14 s).To date,it is still challenging for a fiber optic temperature sensor to have an ultrafast(~ms)response simultaneously with high sensitivity.Here,a side-polished single-mode/hollow/single-mode fiber(SPSHSF)structure is proposed to meet the challenge by using the length-independent sensitivity of an anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguide mechanism.With a polydimethylsiloxane filled sub-nanoliter volume cavity in the SP-SHSF,the SP-SHSF exhibits a high temperature sensitivity of 4.223 nm/℃ with a compact length of 1.6 mm,allowing an ultrafast response(16 ms)and fast recovery time(176 ms).The figure of merit(FOM),defined as the absolute ratio of sensitivity to response time,is proposed to assess the comprehensive performance of the sensor.The FOM of the proposed sensor reaches up to 263.94(nm/℃)∕s,which is more than two to three orders of magnitude higher than those of other temperature fiber optic sensors reported previously.Additionally,a threemonth cycle test shows that the sensor is highly robust,with excellent reversibility and accuracy,allowing it to be incorporated with a wearable face mask for detecting temperature changes during human breathing.The high FOM and high stability of the proposed sensing fiber structure provide an excellent opportunity to develop both ultrafast and highly sensitive fiber optic sensors for wearable respiratory monitoring and contactless in vitro detection.ZHIBIN LI ZIYE WU ZHUOQI LI LIANGXUN OU WENXIANG ZHANG ZHICONG LAI YU ZHANG MENGYUAN XIE JIEYUAN TANG WENGUO ZHU HUADAN ZHENG YONGCHUN ZHONG XIONG DENG XIHUA ZOU ZHE CHEN JIANHUI YU 2023Photonics Research2023,11,8:0
16Side Polished Fiber:A Versatile Platform for Compact Fiber Devices and Sensors显示文摘Side polished fiber(SPF)has a controllable average roughness and length of the side-polishing region,which becomes a versatile platform for integrating multiple materials to interact with the evanescent field to fabricate all-fiber devices and sensors.It has been widely used in couplers,filters,polarizers,optical attenuators,photodetectors,modulators,and sensors for temperature,humidity,strain,biological molecules,chemical gas,and vector magnetic monitoring.In this article,an overview of the development history,fabrication techniques,fiber types,transmission characteristics,and varied recent applications of SPFs are reviewed.Firstly,the fabrication techniques of SPFs are reviewed,including the V-groove assisted polishing technique and wheel polishing technique.Then,the different types of SPFs and their characteristics are discussed.Finally,various applications of SPFs are discussed and concluded theoretically and experimentally,including their principles and structures.When designing the device,the residual thickness and polishing lengths of the SPF need to be appropriately selected in order to obtain the best performance.Developing all-fiber devices and sensors is aimed at practical usability under harsh environments and allows to avoid the high coupling loss between optical fibers and on-chip integrated devices.Linqing ZHUO Jieyuan TANG Wenguo ZHU Huadan ZHENG Heyuan GUAN Huihui LU Yaofei CHEN Yunhan LUO Jun ZHANG Yongchun ZHONG Jianhui YU Zhe CHEN 2023Photonic Sensors2023,13,1:0

18Simultaneous recovery of phosphorus and nitrogen from liquid digestate by vacuum membrane distillation with permeate fractional condensation显示文摘A vacuum membrane distillation(VMD)process with permeate fractional condensation on membrane downstream has been developed for simultaneous recovery of phosphorus and nitrogen from liquid digestate.The polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)membrane flux could reach 6000 g·m-2·h-1 with the rejection efficiency of total phosphorus(TP)over 0.99,under the condition of flowrate being 120 L·h-1 and temperature being 40°C.Membrane fouling occurred with a film of organics and microorganism deposited on the surface of the membrane.Membrane flux could be reversed after the membrane was rinsed by water.Higher feed temperature and flowrate could improve the membrane flux,while hardly affect the rejection efficiency of total phosphorus.The concentration of TP could reach 1600 mg·L-1 after membrane distillation,which is about 5 times of that in initial liquid digestate.On the downstream of the membrane,some of the permeate vapor was condensed under the vacuum condition and most of water was collected here.The remaining vapor enriched with total nitrogen(TN)was compressed and pumped to the atmospheric condition to condense.The TN concentration in atmospheric condensate was as high as 7000 mg·L-1 with the process separation factor for ammonia being enhanced to 114.Boya Qiu Senqing Fan Xiaoyu Tang Bufan Qi Liangwei Deng Wenguo Wang Jingyun Liu Yuyang Wang Zeyi Xiao 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,6:0
19Click chemistry extracellular vesicle/peptide/chemokine nanocarriers for treating central nervous system injuries显示文摘Central nervous system(CNS)injuries,including stroke,traumatic brain injury,and spinal cord injury,are essential causes of death and long-term disability and are difficult to cure,mainly due to the limited neuron regeneration and the glial scar formation.Herein,we apply extracellular vesicles(EVs)secreted by M2 microglia to improve the differentiation of neural stem cells(NSCs)at the injured site,and simultaneously modify them with the injured vascular targeting peptide(DA7R)and the stem cell recruiting factor(SDF-1)on their surface via copper-free click chemistry to recruit NSCs,inducing their neuronal differentiation,and serving as the nanocarriers at the injured site(Dual-EV).Results prove that the Dual-EV could target human umbilical vascular endothelial cells(HUVECs),recruit NSCs,and promote the neuronal differentiation of NSCs in vitro.Furthermore,10 miRNAs are found to be upregulated in Dual-M2-EVs compared to Dual-M0-EVs via bioinformatic analysis,and further NSC differentiation experiment by flow cytometry reveals that among these miRNAs,miR30b-3p,miR-222-3p,miR-129-5p,and miR-155-5p may exert effect of inducing NSC to differentiate into neurons.In vivo experiments show that Dual-EV nanocarriers achieve improved accumulation in the ischemic area of stroke model mice,potentiate NSCs recruitment,and increase neurogenesis.This work provides new insights for the treatment of neuronal regeneration after CNS injuries as well as endogenous stem cells,and the click chemistry EV/peptide/chemokine and related nanocarriers for improving human health.Huitong Ruan Yongfang Li Cheng Wang Yixu Jiang Yulong Han Yiwei Li Dandan Zheng Jing Ye Gang Chen Guo-yuan Yang Lianfu Deng Ming Guo Xingcai Zhang Yaohui Tang Wenguo Cui 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,5:0
