| 1 | Forkhead domain mutations in FOXA1 drive prostate cancer progression显示文摘Dear Editor,F0XA1 (Forkhead Box Protein A1)is a pioneer transcription factor (TF) that functions to loosen the compact chromatin structure to facilitate binding of other TFs such as estrogen receptor and androgen receptor (AR).1,2 AR is a nuclear receptor functioning as a ligand-dependent TF that plays a pivotal role in driving the initiation of prostate cancer (Pca) and the development of castration-resistant Pca (CRPC). | Shuai Gao Sujun Chen Dong Han David Barrett Wanting Han Musaddeque Ahmed Susan Patalano Jill A. | 2 | Spatial Analysis of HIV/AIDS Cases Among Out-of-School Youth Aged 15-24 Years-China,2010-2020显示文摘Summary What is already known about this topic? There are 4,000 new HIV infections every day worldwide, and 31%of which are in adolescents aged 15–24 years old. However, previous study is not aware of the distribution of out-of-school youth among this age group. | Shaorong Wang Junjie Wang Peng Xu Wanting Lyu Mengjie Han | 2021 | China CDC weekly2021,3,48: | 3 |
| 3 | Identification of two glycerophosphodiester phosphodiesterase genes in maize leaf phosphorus remobilization显示文摘Phosphate deficiency is one of the leading causes of crop productivity loss.Phospholipid degradation liberates phosphate to cope with phosphate deficiency.Glycerophosphodiester phosphodiesterases(GPX-PDEs)hydrolyse the intermediate products of phospholipid catabolism glycerophosphodiesters into glycerol-3-phosphate,a precursor of phosphate. However, the function of GPX-PDEs in phosphate remobilization in maize remains unclear. In the present study,we characterized two phosphate deficiency-inducible GPX-PDE genes,ZmGPX-PDE1 and ZmGPX-PDE5,in maize leaves.ZmGPX-PDE1 and ZmGPX-PDE5 were transcriptionally regulated by ZmPHR1,a well-described phosphate starvation-responsive transcription factor of the MYB family.Complementation of the yeast GPX-PDE mutant gde1Δindicated that ZmGPX-PDE1 and ZmGPX-PDE5 functioned as GPX-PDEs,suggesting their roles in phosphate recycling from glycerophosphodiesters. In vitro enzyme assays showed that ZmGPX-PDE1 and ZmGPX-PDE5 catalysed glycerophosphodiester degradation with different substrate preferences for glycerophosphoinositol and glycerophosphocholine,respectively.ZmGPX-PDE1 was upregulated during leaf senescence, and more remarkably, loss of ZmGPXPDE1 inmaize compromised the remobilization of phosphorus fromsenescing leaves to young leaves, resulting in a stay-green phenotype under phosphate starvation. These results suggest that ZmGPX-PDE1 catalyses the degradation of glycerophosphodiesters in maize, promoting phosphate recycling from senescing leaves to new leaves. This mechanism is crucial for improving phosphorus utilization efficiency in crops. | Jingxin Wang Wenbo Pan Alexiy Nikiforov William King Wanting Hong Weiwei Li Yang Han Jana Patton-Vogt Jianbo Shen Lingyun Cheng | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,1: | 1 |
| 4 | The relationship between sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition cluster and long-term mortality in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis显示文摘Aim:Sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition represent common debilitating conditions in the context of cirrhosis, linked to a variety of dismal outcomes. We aimed to clarify their overlap and cumulative impact on long-term mortality in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis. Methods:Consecutive patients with cirrhosis were prospectively recruited from January 2018 to December 2020.The diagnosis of sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition was standardized according to the consensus definition and our well-documented criteria. The prevalence of the respective debilitating condition and the concurrence of this comorbidity were calculated. Results:In total,253 patients with cirrhosis aged 64 years with a female predominance(52.4%)were recruited.Sarcopenia was present in 20.9%(53/253),multidimensional frailty in 12.6%(32/253),and malnutrition in 44.7%(113/253)of the entire cohort.Approximately half of the patients had at least one debilitating condition(127/253).Sarcopenia and malnutrition co-existed in 33 nonfrail patients(13.0%)and multidimensional frailty and malnutrition in eight nonsarcopenic patients(3.2%).Fifteen(5.9%)subjects had all three debilitating conditions, namely malnutrition, sarcopenia, and frailty(MSF)group. The proportions of males, infections, and ascites were significantly higher in the MSF group.Patients in the MSF group had the highest levels of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and creatinine. The 2-year mortality rates in patients with three debilitating conditions, two conditions, one condition, and no conditions were 60.0%,23.8%,21.4%,and 13.5%,respectively.Multivariate Cox regression indicated the long-term mortality risk was approximately four-fold higher among patients in the MSF group compared to those with no conditions. Conclusions:A fraction of patients with cirrhosis exhibited comorbidities of sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition, linked to a higher risk of long-term mortality. | Gaoyue Guo Han Wang Wanting Yang Chaoqun Li Xingliang Zhao Xiaofei Fan Yangyang Hui Binxin Cui Xiaoyu Wang Xuqian Zhang Kui Jiang Chao Sun | 2023 | Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2023,2,2: | 0 |
