2Near-diffraction-limited linearly polarized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser with record kilowatt output显示文摘In this paper, we propose and experimentally investigate a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser(RFL) operating at 1080 nm and boost the output power to kilowatt level with near-diffraction-limited beam quality using a master oscillation power amplifier. The RFL based on a half-opened cavity, which is composed of a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth fiber Bragg grating and a 500 m piece of polarization-maintained Ge-doped fiber, generates a 0.71 W seed laser with an 88 pm full width at half-maximum(FWHM) linewidth and a 22.5 dB polarization extinction ratio(PER) for power scaling. A two-stage fiber amplifier enhances the seed laser to the maximal 1.01 k W with a PER value of 17 dB and a beam quality of M_x^2=1.15 and M_y^2=1.13. No stimulated Brillouin scattering effect is observed at the ultimate power level, and the FWHM linewidth of the amplified random laser broadens linearly as a function of the output power with a coefficient of about 0.1237 pm∕W.To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth RFL with even kilowatt-level near-diffraction-limited output, and further performance scaling is ongoing.JIANGMING XU LONG HUANG MAN JIANG JUN YE PENGFEI MA JINYONG LENG JIAN WU HANWEI ZHANG PU ZHOU 2017Photonics Research2017,5,4:20
3Tandem pumping architecture enabled high power random fiberlaser with near-diffraction-limited beam quality显示文摘In this contribution, we present the tandem pumping avenue leveraged performance scaling of random fiber laser to record 3 kW level with inherent temporal stability and near-diffraction-limited beam quality. The high power system employs a four-stage master oscillator power amplifier chain. The master oscillator is a half-opened cavity structured random distributed feedback fiber laser centered at 1080 nm and pumped by incoherent amplified spontaneous emission source. Narrowband random laser seed is selected by employing a spectral filtering module with a maximum output power of 1.08 W, full width at half maximum linewidth of 0.47 nm and spectral optical-signal-to-noise ratio of about 42 dB. As to the main amplification stage, for given 104 W pre-amplified random laser seed and 3.61 kW pump laser, an ultimate output power of 3.03 kW can be obtained,corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 81.05%. Nearly single-transverse-mode amplified random laser can be achieved even at full power level for inherent high thermal modal instability threshold enabled by tandem pumping and inducing bending loss for high-order transverse-mode. 4Guiding T lymphopoiesis from pluripotent stem cells by defined transcription factors显示文摘Achievement of immunocompetent and therapeutic T lymphopoiesis from pluripotent stem cells(PSCs)is a central aim in T cell regenerative medicine.To date,preferentially reconstituting T lymphopoiesis in vivo from PSCs remains a practical challenge.Here we documented that synergistic and transient expression of Runx1 and Hoxa9 restricted in the time window of endothelial-to-hematopoietic transition and hematopoietic maturation stages in a PSC differentiation scheme(iR9-PSC)in vitro induced preferential generation of engraftable hematopoietic progenitors capable of homing to thymus and developing into mature T cells in primary and secondary immunodeficient recipients.Single-cell transcriptome and functional analyses illustrated the cellular trajectory of T lineage induction from PSCs,unveiling the T-lineage specification determined at as early as hemogenic endothelial cell stage and identifying the bona fide pre-thymic progenitors.The induced T cells distributed normally in central and peripheral lymphoid organs and exhibited abundant TCRαβrepertoire.The regenerative T lymphopoiesis restored immune surveillance in immunodeficient mice.Furthermore,gene-edited iR9-PSCs produced tumor-specific T cells in vivo that effectively eradicated tumor cells.This study provides insight into universal generation of functional and therapeutic T cells from the unlimited and editable PSC source.Rongqun Guo Fangxiao Hu Qitong Weng Cui Lv Hongling Wu Lijuan Liu Zongcheng Li Yang Zeng Zhijie Bai Mengyun Zhang Yuting Liu Xiaofei Liu Chengxiang Xia Tongjie Wang Peiqing Zhou Kaitao Wang Yong Dong Yuxuan Luo Xiangzhong Zhang Yuxian Guan Yang Geng Juan Du Yangqiu Li Yu Lan Jiekai Chen Bing Liu Jinyong Wang 2020Cell Research2020,30,1:7
5Passively spatiotemporal gain-modulation-induced stable pulsing operation of a random fiber laser显示文摘Unlike a traditional fiber laser with a defined resonant cavity, a random fiber laser(RFL), whose operation is based on distributed feedback and gain via Rayleigh scattering(RS) and stimulated Raman scattering in a long passive fiber, has fundamental scientific challenges in pulsing operation for its remarkable cavity-free feature. For the time being, stable pulsed RFL utilizing a passive method has not been reported. Here, we propose and experimentally realize the passive spatiotemporal gain-modulation-induced stable pulsing operation of counterpumped RFL. Thanks to the good temporal stability of an employed pumping amplified spontaneous emission source and the superiority of this pulse generation scheme, a stable and regular pulse train can be obtained.Furthermore, the pump hysteresis and bistability phenomena with the generation of high-order Stokes light is presented, and the dynamics of pulsing operation is discussed after the theoretical investigation of the counterpumped RFL. 6Vortex random fiber laser with controllable orbital angular momentum mode显示文摘In this paper, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a vortex random fiber laser(RFL) with a controllable orbital angular momentum(OAM) mode. The topological charge of the vortex RFL can range from-50 to 50 with nearly watt-level output power. A triangular toroidal interferometer is constructed to verify the spiral phase structure of the generated vortex random laser with a special coherence property. Vortex RFLs with fractional topological charge are also performed in this work. 7Optical rogue wave in random fiber laser显示文摘The famous demonstration of optical rogue waves(RWs),a powerful tool to reveal the fundamental physics in different laser scenarios,opened a flourishing time for temporal statistics.Random fiber laser(RFL)has likewise attracted wide attention due to its great potential in multidisciplinary demonstrations and promising applications.However,owing to the distinctive cavity-free structure,it is a scientific challenge to achieve temporal localized RWs in RFLs,whose feedback arises from multiple scattering in disordered medium.Here,we report the exploration of RW in the highly skewed,transient intensity of an incoherently pumped RFL for the first time,to our knowledge,and unfold the involved kinetics successfully.The corresponding frequency domain measurements demonstrate that the RW event arises from a crucial sustained stimulated Brillouin scattering process with intrinsic stochastic nature.This investigation highlights a novel path to fully understanding the complex physics,such as photon propagation and localization,in disordered media.JIANGMING XU JIAN WU JUN YE JIAXIN SONG BAICHENG YAO HANWEI ZHANG JINYONG LENG WEILI ZHANG PU ZHOU YUNJIANG RAO 2020Photonics Research2020,8,1:4
8Transverse mode instability mitigation in a high-power confined-doped fiber amplifier with good beam quality through seed laser control显示文摘In this work,a confined-doped fiber with the core/inner-cladding diameter of 40/250μm and a relative doping ratio of 0.75 is fabricated through a modified chemical vapor deposition method combined with the chelate gas deposition technique,and subsequently applied in a tandem-pumped fiber amplifier for high-power operation and transverse mode instability(TMI)mitigation.Notably,the impacts of the seed laser power and mode purity are preliminarily investigated through comparative experiments.It is found that the TMI threshold could be significantly affected by the seed laser mode purity.The possible mechanism behind this phenomenon is proposed and revealed through comprehensive comparative experiments and theoretical analysis.Finally,a maximum output power of 7.49 kW is obtained with the beam quality factor of approximately 1.83,which is the highest output power ever reported in a forward tandem-pumped confined-doped fiber amplifier.This work could provide a good reference and practical solution to improve the TMI threshold and realize high-power high-brightness fiber lasers.Hanshuo Wu Haobo Li Yi An Ruixian Li Xiao Chen Hu Xiao Liangjin Huang Huan Yang Zhiping Yan Jinyong Leng Zhiyong Pan Pu Zhou 2022High Power Laser Science and Engineering2022,10,6:3
9In-situ microstructural investigations of the TRIP-to-TWIP evolution in Ti-Mo-Zr alloys as a function of Zr concentration显示文摘Aiming at overcoming the strength-ductility trade-off in structural Ti-alloys,a new family of TRIP/TWIP Ti-alloys was developed in the past decade(TWIP:twinning-induced plasticity;TRIP:transformationinduced plasticity).Herein,we study the tunable nature of deformation mechanisms with various TWIP and TRIP contributions by fine adjustment of the Zr content on ternary Ti-12 Mo-xZr(x=3,6,10)alloys.The microstructure and deformation mechanisms of the Ti-Mo-Zr alloys are explored by using in-situ electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that a transition of the dominant deformation mode occurred,going from TRIP to TWIP major mechanism with increasing Zr content.In the Ti-12 Mo-3 Zr alloy,the stress-induced martensitic transformation(SIM)is the major deformation mode which accommodates the plastic flow.Regarding the Ti-12 Mo-6 Zr alloy,the combined deformation twinning(DT)and SIM modes both contribute to the overall plasticity with enhanced strain-hardening rate and subsequent large uniform ductility.Further increase of the Zr content in Ti-12 Mo-10 Zr alloy leads to an improved yield stress involving single DT mode as a dominant deformation mechanism throughout the plastic regime.In the present work,a set of comprehensive in-situ and ex-situ microstructural investigations clarify the evolution of deformation microstructures during tensile loading and unloading processes.Bingnan Qian Jinyong Zhang Yangyang Fu Fan Sun Yuan Wu Jun Cheng Philippe Vermaut Frederic Prima 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,6:2

18Fabrication of laminated TiB2-B4C/Cu-Ni composites by electroplating and spark plasma sintering显示文摘We proposed a new method, electroplating followed by spark plasma sintering(SPS), to fabricate laminated TiB_2-B_4 C/Cu-Ni composites with high strength and high toughness. It is found that a thin intermediate Cu layer can effectively enhance the strength of the interface between the ceramics and the metals, resulting in a high flexural strength and toughness of the laminated TiB_2-B_4 C composites simultaneously. 19Design of a wideband random phase gradient metasurface by using line-shaped element显示文摘Based on phase randomization theory, a method for manufacturing metasurface with diffuse scatter performance is proposed. By using the line-shaped elements with random rotate angles and random distributing positions, the metasurface can achieve good diffusion scatter performance with polarization independent characteristic. This paper studies the effects of the length of line-shaped elements on the metasurface response frequency and the radar cross section (RCS) reduction bandwidth. The simulated result shows that the wideband properties of metasurface benefit from two different length line-shaped elements. The proposed metasurface can reduce the RCS significantly for both normal and oblique incident waves. The line-shaped element is suitable for all sizes of detected objects and it can be directly sprayed on the detected object surface. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, the metasurface prototype is fabricated and measured. Experimental results show that the fabricated metasur-face can effectively reduce RCS, and it has great application prospects in stealth technology. 20Regeneration of immunocompetent B lymphopoiesis from pluripotent stem cells guided by transcription factors显示文摘Regeneration of functional B lymphopoiesis from pluripotent stem cells(PSCs)is challenging,and reliable methods have not been developed.Here,we unveiled the guiding role of three essential factors,Lhx2,Hoxa9,and Runx1,the simultaneous expression of which preferentially drives B lineage fate commitment and in vivo B lymphopoiesis using PSCs as a cell source.In the presence of Lhx2,Hoxa9,and Runx1 expression,PSC-derived induced hematopoietic progenitors(iHPCs)immediately gave rise to pro/pre-B cells in recipient bone marrow,which were able to further differentiate into entire B cell lineages,including innate B-1a,B-1b,and marginal zone B cells,as well as adaptive follicular B cells.In particular,the regenerative B cells produced adaptive humoral immune responses,sustained antigen-specific antibody production,and formed immune memory in response to antigen challenges.The regenerative B cells showed natural B cell development patterns of immunoglobulin chain switching and hypermutation via cross-talk with host T follicular helper cells,which eventually formed T cell-dependent humoral responses.This study exhibits de novo evidence that B lymphopoiesis can be regenerated from PSCs via an HSC-independent approach,which provides insights into treating B cell-related deficiencies using PSCs as an unlimited cell resource.Qi Zhang Bingyan Wu Qitong Weng Fangxiao Hu Yunqing Lin Chengxiang Xia Huan Peng Yao Wang Xiaofei Liu Lijuan Liu Jiapin Xiong Yang Geng Yalan Zhao Mengyun Zhang Juan Du Jinyong Wang 2022Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,4:0
