| 1 | Exploring the influence of the built environment on human experience through a neuroscience approach:A systematic review显示文摘The built environment provides a habitat for the most sophisticated mammal in our universe,the human being.Developments in science and technology are forcing us to reconsider the priority of human needs in current theories of architecture and the built environment.Newly developed theories and methodologies in neuroscience have allowed us to improve and deepen our knowledge of human experience in the built environment.The potential of the relationship between neuroscience and architecture for knowledge creation generates an increasing interest in theoretical and methodological approaches to explore this intersection.Thus,a common ground on which to conduct interdisciplinary studies investigating developing and emerging concepts at the intersection must be established.However,few reviews in the literature have systematically examined developing and emerging concepts at the intersection of neuroscience and architecture.The present review aims to examine the existing literature systematically to explain the influence of the built environment on human experience by using approaches from neuroscience by examining the conceptualizations in the field.The study is conducted as a systematic qualitative review that analyzes and synthesizes the developing and emerging concepts that have appeared in the ever-evolving literature.The study concludes with an overall discussion about these concepts as a means of deeply understanding the influence of the built environment on human experience,responses to the environment based on approaches from neuroscience,and their potential for providing further directions for future research. | Tulay Karakas Dilek Yiidiz | 2020 | Frontiers of Architectural Research2020，9，1： | 4 |
| 2 | Ultrasound biomicroscopy in patients with unilateral pseudoexfoliation显示文摘·AIM: To compare the anterior segment morphology evaluated using ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM) in patients with clinical pseudoexfoliation syndrome(XFS)in one eye and no clinical XFS in the fellow eye.·METHODS: Thirty patients with unilateral XFS were included in the study. All patients underwent evaluation of their anterior segment using UBM with and without dilatation with 1% cyclopentolate. The anterior chamber depth(ACD), lens thickness(LT), anterior chamber angle(ACA), ciliary body thickness(CBT), scleral thickness(ST), trabeculae-ciliary processes distance(T-CPD), and iris-ciliary processes distance(I-CPD) were measured using UBM scans. All results between the eyes with clinical XFS and their fellow eyes without clinical XFS were then compared.·RESULTS: Before dilatation the eyes with XFS(4.350±0.531 mm) were found to have a significantly thicker lens(P =0.002) than the eyes without XFS(4.238 ±0.540 mm).In addition after dilatation, the eyes with XFS(4.310 ±0.500 mm) were found to have a significantly thicker lens than the eyes without XFS(4.160±0.480 mm)(P=0.019).The average ACD, for the group with XFS, comparing pre-dilatation(2.616 ±0.349 mm) and post-dilatation measurements(2.714±0.413) was found to be statistically increased(P =0.014). | 3 | Evaluation of choroidal thickness using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography in patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome: a comparative study显示文摘AIM: To assess choroidal thickness in patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS) and compare them with healthy controls, using spectral domain optical coherence tomography(OCT).METHODS: In this observational, cross-sectional study,choroidal thicknesses of 23 newly severe OSAS patients and 23 body mass index- age- and sex-matched healthy subjects were measured using a high-speed, high-resolution frequency domain- OCT device( λ = 840 nm,26 000 A-scans/s, 5 μm axial resolution). All patients underwent a complete ophthalmic examination before the measurements. OCT measurements were taken at the same time of day(9:00 a.m.), in order to minimize the effects of diurnal variation.RESULTS: There was a statistically significant difference in median choroidal thickness between the OSAS patients(201 μm; range 145-237 μm) and the controls(324 μm; range 296-383 μm;P <0.001). There were significant differences at all measurement points(P <0.001 for all). The apnea-hypopnea index(AHI)values were more than 30 in all OSAS patients and the mean AHI was 48.57 ±6.54. The interexaminer intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC) for the mean choroidal thickness was 0.938(95% CI, 0.908-0.985) and ICC was greater than 0.90 for all measurement points.CONCLUSION: The decreased choroidal thickness of patients with severe OSAS might be related to the the autonomic disregulation associated with this disease.Further studies are needed to evaluate the etiopathologic relationship between choroidal thickness and OSAS. | Aylin Karalezli Fatma Corak Eroglu Tulay Kivanc Rusina Dogan | 2014 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2014，7，6： | 2 |
