EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON HIGH-SPEED CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS WITH DIFFERENT IMPELLERS显示文摘The experimental study is carded out on high-speed centrifugal pumps with three different impellers. The ex-perimental results and analysis show that high-speed centrifugal pumps with a closed complex impeller can achieve thehighest efficiency and the lowest head coefficient followed by those with half-open impeller and open-impeller, and canobtain much easily stable head-capacity characrastic curve, while those with a half-open complex impeller can't. Thecharacteristic curve with a open impeller is almost constant horizontal line before dropping sharply. The results also showthat the axial clearance between pump casing and impeller can influence greatly on the performance of centrifugal pumps.Zhu Zuchao Chen YingState Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission and Control, Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027, ChinaHuang Dunhui Jin Qingming Cangnan Special Pumps Co.Ltd of Zhejiang Province 2002Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2002,15,4:10
DC ice-melting model for wet-growth icing conductor and its experimental investigation显示文摘Icicles are often formed under the downside surface of conductor in the wet growth icing of overhead power line. When the ice deposit around overhead power line is molten by Joule heat produced by current, the pattern of heat transfer of ice deposit with icicles is dissimilar to that without icicle, so the ice-melting model for the columnar icing conductor cannot be applied to icicle-shaped icing conductor. According to the heat-transfer characteristic of the icicle-shaped icing conductor, this paper puts forward a DC ice-melting model for the icicle-shaped icing conductor. Because this full model includes three-dimensional heat-transfer and interface movement, which cannot be solved in closed form, a finite element scheme in space-domain and a finite difference scheme in time-domain are employed to discretize the governing equations. Firstly the whole ice-melting process on the icicle-shaped icing conductor is simulated by this model. Then the simulated results are validated by ice-melting experiments in the artificial chamber. The study from the model and the experiments shows that the size and length of icicle as well as the space between the adjacent icicles are factors to affect ice-melting. With the shorter icicle space, the bigger icicle size and the longer icicle-length, the surface of ice layer is enlarged and then more heat is taken away by the convection and radiation, so the ice melting time will get longer.FAN SongHai1,2, JIANG XingLiang1, SHU LiChun1, SUN CaiXin1 & WANG DaXing1,2 1 State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment & System Security and New Technology, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400044, China 2 Sichuan Electric Power Test and Research Institute, Chengdu 610072, China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,12:9
First passage failure of dynamical power systems under random perturbations显示文摘The first-passage problem of dynamical power system of a single-machine-infinite-bus (SMIB) system under random perturbations is studied.First, the stochastic averaging method for quasi non-integrable generalized Hamiltonian systems is applied to reduce the equations of the SMIB system under random perturbations to a set of averaged It equations. Then, the backward Kolmogorov equation governing the conditional reliability function and the Pontryagin equation governing the conditional mean of first passage time are established and solved numerically, respectively. Finally, the proposed method is verified by using the Monte Carlo simulation of the original system.CHEN LinCong1 & ZHU WeiQiu2 1 College of Civil Engineering,Huaqiao University,Xiamen 361021,China 2 Department of Mechanics,State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission and Control,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,9:9
Modeling of Stress Distribution During Strip Coiling Process显示文摘Many strip materials are coiled after rolling process. The stresses are imposed on the material wound on the automatically controlled collapse mandrel under the coiling tension. The coiling process can be described by three typical cases: winding without automatic adjustment, winding with automatic adjustment and after mandrel removal. A new model of equations for predicting the stresses during the strip coiling process is built by consideration of the three cases respectively. By solving the equations of different typical cases, the radial stresses and tangential stress of the layers of coil can be calculated. Also, the coiling parameters, such as strip thickness, coiling tension and necking critical pressure, affecting the coil performance are investigated. It is believed that the present model can be used for design and control of the automatically controlled collapse mandrel.WANG Yong-qin, LI Li, YAN Xing-chun, LUO Yuan-xin, WU Liang (The State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400030, China) 2012Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2012,19,8:7

STABILITY IN THE CIRCULAR PIPE FLOW OF FIBER SUSPENSIONS显示文摘A linear stability analysis on the circular pipe flow of fiber suspensions is presented. The fiber orientation tensors are used to describe the characteristics of the orientation distribution of fibers. The constitutive equation for the fiber suspensions is set up and the modified Orr Sommerfeld stability equation is derived. An improved finite difference method with high order accuracy is employed to solve the equation. The Newtonian pipe Poiseuille flow corresponding to H=0 is also analyzed for comparison. The results reveal that the fiber additives will enhance the flow stability, the degree of enhancement becomes high with the increases of the parameter H which accounts for the fiber resistance to the stretching along its axis. Fiber suspensions with large H can suppress the influence of high Reynolds number on the flow stability. Particularly, fibers give a higher attenuation of the short waves of disturbance. You Zhen jiang, Lin Jian zhong Department of Mechanics, State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission and Control, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, China 2003Journal of Hydrodynamics2003,15,2:6
CONTROL STRATEGY OF A PARALLEL HYBRID CAR WITH A METAL BELT-PLANETARY GEAR CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM显示文摘The most remarkable characteristic of a metal belt-planetary gear continuously variable transmission is a wider ratio range and a bigger torque capacity than a conventional metal pushing belt continuously variable transmission. A parallel hybrid car with this transmission system not only can reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emission at a ECE city cycle, but also can keep the motor working in the most efficiency area and can be started by a lower power motor by oneself. At the same time, the continuously variable transmission system can realize the smooth switch between the motor and the engine.Sun Dongye Qin Datong Wang HongyanState Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400044, China 2002Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2002,15,3:5
RESEARCH ON DESIGN METHOD OF A MULTIPLE DISC WET BRAKE IN LUBRICATED ENVIRONMENT显示文摘The rmomechanical phenomena occurring between friction pairs greatly change the distributions of lining pressure and friction surface temperature of a multiple disc wet brake. It has become one of the main causes of brake failure. In order to understand these thermomechanical phenomena, several design and mate rial factors that have great influence on thermomechanical phenomena, such as heat transfer coefficient, friction factor, sliding velocity, initial lining pressure and so on, are analyzed. 9Stochastic stability of quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems with time delay by using Lyapunov function method显示文摘The asymptotic Lyapunov stability of one quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system with time-delayed feedback control is studied by using Lyapunov functions and stochastic averaging method.First,a quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system with time-delayed feedback control subjected to Gaussian white noise excitation is approximated by a quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system without time delay. Then, stochastic averaging method for quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system is used to reduce the dimension of the original system, and after that the Lyapunov function of the averaged It equation is taken as the optimal linear combination of the corresponding independent first integrals in involution. Finally, the stability of the system is determined by using the largest eigenvalue of the linearized system. Two examples are used to illustrate the proposed procedure and the effects of delayed time on the Lyapunov stability are discussed as well.LING Quan 1,JIN XiaoLing 1 &HUANG ZhiLong 2 1 Department of Mechanics,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027,China 2 State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission and Control,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,3:5
Numerical Simulation and Experiment Analyses for the Gas-liquid Two-phase Vortex Pump显示文摘Based on the gas-liquid two-phase mixture transportation test, the k-ε-Ap turbulence model was applied to simulate the two-phase turbulent flow in a vortex pump.By comparing the simulation and experiment results, inner flow features were revealed. The bubbles in the channel distribute mainly at the pressure side of the blades, and the aggregation degree of the bubbles is enhanced with an increase in inlet gas volume fraction.Experimental results indicate that the influence of the gas phase on vortex pump performance is small when the gas volume fraction is less than 10%.When the gas volume fraction continuously increases to 15%,the characteristic curves abruptly drop due to the gas blocking phenomenon.Y.Li,Z.C.Zhu,W.Q.He,Y.P.Wang and B.L.Cui The Lab of Multi-phase Fluid Transmission Technology,Zhejiang Sci-Tech University,Hangzhou 310018,China 2010Journal of Thermal Science2010,19,1:5

THE p-VERSION OF FINITE ELEMENT METHODS FOR STEADY VISCOELASTIC FLOWS BETWEEN ECCENTRIC ROTATING CYLINDERS显示文摘The steady state, two dimensional creeping flow of an upper convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid between two eccentric cylinders, with the inner one rotating,is computed by p version of EVSS/SUPG finite element method. The solutions converge as the polynomial order of the approximation increases. An upper Deborah number (De) limit attains 30 (p≤5). With De increasing, The boundary layers form and develop in the stress, which match closely with those predicted by asymptotic analysis. The results show that numerical oscillations is caused by the boundary layers of stress and can be reduced by increasing the polynomial order of the approximation.Lu Zhu min Department of Mechanics, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, P.R.China Wang Lin xiang State Key Laboratory for Fluid Power Transmission & Control, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, P.R.China Fan Yu run Department of Mechanics, 1999Journal of Hydrodynamics1999,11,3:4

FORCED WAVE PROPAGATION IN VISCOELASTIC CABLE WITH SMALL SAG显示文摘Based on the linear viscoelastic differential constitutive law and cable structural model, the coupled longitudinal-transverse waves that propagate along a viscoelastic cable with small curvature is investigated. A mathematical model is presented that describes the three-dimensional nonlinear response of a viscoelastic cable. An asymptotic form of this model is obtained for the linear response of cables having small equihbrium curvature. The spectral relation governing the propagating waves is derived using transform methods. The spectral relation is employed in deriving a Green's function that is then used to construct solutions for in-plane response under distributed harmonic excitation. Analysis of forced response reveals the existence of two types of periodic waves that propagate through the cable, one characterizing extension-comprehensive deformation and the other characteristic transverse deformation.Li Yinghui Jian Kailin~1 Gao Qing Yin Xuegang~1 (Department of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu 610031, China) (1 State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400044, China) 2001Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2001,14,2:4
Stability in channel flow with fiber suspensions显示文摘The constitutive equation of fiber suspensions is established on the basis of fiber orientation tensors. The modified Orr-Sommerfeld stability equation is obtained further and numerically solved by aid of spectral method and finite difference method. The computational results of channel flow without fibers agree well with the experimental data with a higher degree of accuracy than previous numerical results. The results of the channel flow with fiber suspensions indicate that the presence of fibers attenuates the instability of flow, increases the critical Reynolds number, reduces the growth rate of perturbations and narrows the range of unstable waves. The extent of the effect of fibers on the flow stability is in direct proportion to the volume fraction and aspect-ratio of the fibers.LIN Jianzhong and YOU Zhenjiang(Department of Mechanics, State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission and Control, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, China) 2003Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2003,13,2:4
Compensation for time-delayed feedback bang-bang control of quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems显示文摘The stochastic averaging method for quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems with time-delayed feedback bang-bang control is first introduced. Then, two time delay compensation methods, namely the method of changing control force amplitude (CFA) and the method of changing control delay time (CDT), are proposed. The conditions applicable to each compensation method are discussed. 18Time-delayed feedback control optimization for quasi linear systems under random excitations显示文摘A strategy for time-delayed feedback controloptimization of quasi linear systems with random excitationis proposed. First, the stochastic averaging method isused to reduce the dimension of the state space and to derivethe stationary response of the system. Secondly, the controllaw is assumed to be velocity feedback control with timedelay and the unknown control gains are determined by theperformance indices. The response of the controlled systemis predicted through solving the Fokker-Plank-Kolmogorovequation associated with the averaged It equation. 19DYNAMICAL BALANCE STUDY OF RING REDUCER显示文摘The basic structure of epicyclical gear transmission with inner teeth of single-ring, double-ring, three-ring and four-ring reducer are analyzed. The force analysis model of ring reducer is built. Following this, it is concluded that the present ring reducers have the problem that the inertia force or the inertia moment is lopsided. On the base of analysis and calculation the balanced ring reducer which can realize the balance of inertia force and inertia moment is brought forward, and so is its concrete realizing step. The specimen of the balanced ring reducer is designed and manufactured; the experiment is carried out on the gear transmission test bench. Compared with other ring reducer of the same power, the balanced ring reducer has many advantages, such as low vibration noise, low cost and less production difficulty and less heat. It is the substitute of other ring reducer of the same kind. Therefore, it has important theoretic significance and highly practical engineering value.Zhu Caichao Qin DatongState Key Laboratory ofMechanical Transmission,Chongqing University,Chongqing 400044, China 2003Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2003,16,1:2
Stochastic optimal control of partially observable nonlinear quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems显示文摘The stochastic optimal control of partially observable nonlinear quasi-integrable Hamiltonian systems is investigated. First, the stochastic optimal control problem of a partially observable nonlinear quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system is converted into that of a completely observable linear system based on a theorem due to Charalambous and Elliot. Then, the converted stochastic optimal control problem is solved by applying the stochastic averaging method and the stochastic dynamical programming principle. The response of the controlled quasi Hamiltonian system is predicted by solving the averaged Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov equation and the Riccati equation for the estimated error of system states. As an example to illustrate the procedure and effectiveness of the proposed method, the stochastic optimal control problem of a partially observable two-degree-of-freedom quasi-integrable Hamiltonian system is worked out in detail.FENG Ju, ZHU WeiQiu & YING ZuGuang Department of Mechanics, State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission and Control, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,1:2
