| 1 | Precise nanomedicine for intelligent therapy of cancer显示文摘Precise nanomedicine has been extensively explored for efficient cancer imaging and targeted cancer therapy, as evidenced by a few breakthroughs in their preclinical and clinical explorations. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. | 2 | Spatial concentration,congener profiles and inhalation risk assessment of PCDD/Fs and PCBs in the atmosphere of Tianjin,China显示文摘Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins/dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs) and polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) were monitored in a seasonal passive sampling scheme during June 2008 and January 2009 to investigate the spatial concentration,congener profiles and evaluate the potential inhalation risk in different functional areas in Tianjin,China.The spatial air concentrations and I-TEQs ranged 1.08×102-8.19×10 3 fg m-3(average 2.63×103 fg m-3) and 4.08-325 fg I-TEQ m-3(average 91.4 fg I-TEQ m-3) respectively for PCDD/Fs.The concentration and I-TEQs of PCBs were 3.08×104-3.01×105 fg m-3(average 1.39×105 fg m-3) and 1.72-49.6 fg I-TEQ m-3(average 18.5 fg I-TEQ m-3).It is obvious that PCB concentrations were several hundred times higher than the PCDD/Fs.However,the ambient air PCDD/Fs contributed a major part to the total toxicity equivalents,varying from 72.7% to 89.0%(average 81.8%).The atmospheric PCDD/F levels were observed to be higher in winter for most of sampling sites in the downtown.Besides,inhalation risk assessment showed that local residents might suffer more risk near the point sources than those in living area,industrial zones and background area in Tianjin City.However,the total daily dioxin intake was approximately several to hundreds of times lower than the WHO criteria,showing relatively low exposure risks from the impact of industry point sources in Tianjin City. | DING Lei LI YingMing WANG Pu LI XiaoMin ZHAO ZongShan RUAN Ting ZHANG QingHua | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,9: | 17 |
| 3 | Saponins from Panax japonicus attenuate age-related neuroinflammation via regulation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathways显示文摘Neuroinflammation is recognized as an important pathogenic factor for aging and related cognitive disorders. Mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathways may mediate neuroinflammation. Saponins from Panax japonicus are the most abundant and bioactive members in rhizomes of Panax japonicus, and show anti-inflammatory activity. However, it is not known whether saponin from Panax japonicus has an anti-inflammatory effect in the aging brain, and likewise its underlying mechanisms. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into control groups(3-, 9-, 15-, and 24-month-old groups) and saponins from Panax japonicus-treated groups. Saponins from Panax japonicus-treated groups were orally administrated saponins from Panax japonicus at three doses of 10, 30, and 60 mg/kg once daily for 6 months until the rats were 24 months old. Immunohistochemical staining and western blot assay results demonstrated that many microglia were activated in 24-month-old rats compared with 3-and 9-month-old rats. Expression of interleukin-1β, tumor necrosis factor-α, cyclooxygenase-2, and inducible nitric oxide synthase increased. Each dose of saponins from Panax japonicus visibly suppressed microglial activation in the aging rat brain, and inhibited expression levels of the above factors. Each dose of saponins from Panax japonicus markedly diminished levels of nuclear factor kappa B, IκBα, extracellular signal-regulated kinase, c-Jun N-terminal kinase, and p38. | 4 | Seasonal trend of ambient PCDD/Fs in Tianjin City, northern China using active sampling strategy显示文摘The spatial concentrations, seasonal trends, profiles and congener pairs of ambient polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) were investigated within a seasonally active sampling scheme during Jun 2008 and Jan 2009 in Tianjin City, northern China. The PCDD/F concentrations ranged 14.2-172 fg I-TEQ/m3 (average 69.3 fg I-TEQ/m3 ) in summer and (89.8-1.01)×103 fg I-TEQ/m3 (average 509 fg I-TEQ/m3 ) in winter, respectively, except for the E-waste dismantling site where much higher values were observed (1.04×103 fg I-TEQ/m3 in summer and 7.123×103 fg I-TEQ/m3 in winter). The results indicated a significantly seasonal trend with higher TEQ values in winter as compared with summer, which could be related to increased emission sources and seasonal variations of the atmospheric boundary layer height. 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF was the dominant contributor to the total PCDD/F toxic equivalents, and 2,3,7,8-TCDD was detected at almost all the sampling sites in winter. Most of the similarly substituted PCDD/F congener pairs exhibited high correlations, suggesting that they might have similar environmental fate or sources. | 6 | Origin of Tafoni in the Late Cretaceous Aeolian Sandstones,Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark,South China显示文摘Tafoni occur generally in granular rocks around the world, but their origin remains controversial. In this study,the roles of lithology, micro–climate, and organism in tafoni development are investigated in the Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark of South China. The Jinshiyan Temple and Luyitang sites along the Jinjiang River are chosen to conduct tafoni morphometry, bedrock petrography, and micro–climate analyses. The research methods used in this study include field observations and measurements, Voronoi diagrams, polarizing microscopic and scanning electron microscopic(SEM)image analysis, and meteorological detection. The tafoni are mostly 2–10 cm in length and elliptical in shape. The Late Cretaceous Jinshiyan sandstones are characterized by a grain–to–grain contact fabric and moderate sorting with a high proportion of soluble grains and cements. The Voronoi diagrams developed through the Arc GIS software are largely consistent with the tafoni openings. Moreover, owing to exposure to solar insolation, the external temperature values are higher than the internal ones, while the external relative humidity values are lower than the internal ones. Therefore, the permeable Jinshiyan sandstones are fundamental for tafoni development, while the abundant moisture from the Jinjiang River and frequent rains is favorable for salt weathering in tandem with biological activities. | 7 | 2018: The Hottest Summer in China and Possible Causes显示文摘In 2018,China experienced the hottest summer since 1961.The maximum,mean,and minimum temperatures all reached the highest.Air temperatures in most regions were much higher than normal;in northern China especially,the temperature anomalies were above double of the standard deviations.Consistent variations of temperature anomalies appeared in the national mean and in northern China on different timescales from intraseasonal to annual,indicating that the above normal temperature in northern China contributed significantly to the record-breaking hot summer of entire China.Relationships among the high temperature in summer 2018,the tropospheric circulation,and the global sea surface temperatures(SSTs)are further analyzed.It is found that the intensified and more northward western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH),weakened Northeast China cold vortex(NECV),and positive geopotential height anomaly from northern China to the Sea of Japan resulted in the abnormally high temperature in summer 2018.From late July to mid August,the WPSH was stronger than normal,with its ridge line jumping to north of 40°N;meanwhile,the NECV was much weaker and more northward than normal;both of the two systems led to the persistent high temperature in northern China during this period.In addition,the SSTs in Kuroshio and its extension area(K–KE)in summer 2018 were also the highest since 1961 and the greatest positive SST anomaly in K–KE was favorable for the above normal geopotential height over North China–Northeast China–Japan at 500 hPa,giving rise to the exceptionally high temperature in northern China. | Ting DING Yuan YUAN Jianming ZHANG Hui GAO | 2019 | Journal of Meteorological Research2019,33,4: | 13 |

| 9 | Characteristics and Changes of Cold Surge Events over China during 1960-2007显示文摘This paper demonstrates regional characteristics, a long-term decreasing trend, and decadal variations in the frequency of cold surge events based on daily mean temperature and daily minimum temperature data in China's Mainland from 1960 to 2008. During these 48 years four high frequency centers of cold surge events were located in Xinjiang, central North China, northeast China, and southeast China. A main frequency peak of cold surge events occurs in autumn for the four regions and another peak is detected in spring over northeast China and southeast China. The regional pattern of cold surge frequencies is in accordance with the perturbation kinetic energy distribution in October December, January, and February April. | 11 | IDENTIFICATION OF MYCOBACTERIUM MARINUM 65 KD HEAT SHOCK PROTEIN GENE BY POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION RESTRICTION ANALYSIS FROM LESIONS OF SWIMMING POOL GRANULOMA显示文摘Background Nontuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) had been reported to cause cutaneous infections which are difficult to interpret due to the variability of the clinical manifestations. Among NTM infections, Mycobacterium marinum (M. marinum) are mostly seen to cause skin infection. It is therefore important to establish a rapid approach for detection and identification of M. marinum from lesions of patients with suspected M. marinum infections. Methods Specimens were obtained from 5 patients with swimming pool granuloma. DNA was extracted and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed. PCR products were digested with Hae III and BstE II, then analysed by pattern restriction analysis to detect heat shock protein (hsp) 65 kD gene. Results The 65 kD hsp gene was found in all specimens from patients with swimming pool granuloma. PCR restriction analysis (PRA) identified all 5 samples to be M. marinum infections, and the result was consistent with that of routine bacteriological identification. The lesions subsided or markedly improved upon treatment. Conclusions PRA is a sensitive, specific and rapid method in identification of mycobacteria. | 14 | Capsule endoscopy and single-balloon enteroscopy in small bowel diseases: Competing or complementary?显示文摘AIM To evaluate diagnostic yields of capsule endoscopy(CE) and/or single-balloon enteroscopy(SBE) in patients with suspected small bowel diseases.METHODS Were trospectively analyzed 700 patients with suspected small bowel diseases from September 2010 to March 2016. CE, SBE, or SBE with prior CE was performed in 401, 353, and 47 patients, respectively. Data from clinical and endoscopy records were collected for analysis. Indications, procedure times, diagnostic yields, and complications were summarized and evaluated.RESULTS The overall diagnostic yield for the CE group was 57.6%. The diagnostic yield of CE in patients with obscure gastroin testinal bleeding(OGIB) was significantly greater than that in patients with no bleeding(70.5% vs 43.8%, P < 0.01). The overall diagnostic yield of SBE was 69.7%. There was no difference in the diagnostic yield of SBE between patients with OGIB and those with no bleeding(72.5% vs 68.9%, P = 0.534). Forty-seven patients underwent CE prior to SBE. Among them, the diagnostic yield of SBE with positive findings on prior CE was 93.3%. In addition, SBE detected two cases with superficial ulcer and erosive lesions in the small bowel, which were missed by CE. However, one case with lymphoma and two with Crohn's disease were not confirmed by SBE. The rate of capsule retention was 2.0%. There were no significant complications during or after SBE examinations.CONCLUSION SBE is a safe and effective technique for diagnosing small bowel diseases. | 16 | The Record-Breaking Extreme Drought in Yunnan Province, Southwest China during Spring-Early Summer of 2019 and Possible Causes显示文摘In spring and early summer of 2019, Yunnan Province experienced the most severe seasonal drought on record,with days of extreme drought area exceeding 10^5 km^2 far more than normal. Consistently, the precipitation in each month from February to June is over 30% less than normal, and about 50% less in the most severe drought period(April–June). The rainy season in Southwest China(SWC) started on the third pentad in June 2019, which is the second latest in history. The rainy season in Yunnan started on 24 June, which is the latest(29 days later than normal). On the contrary, the onset of the South China Sea summer monsoon(SCSSM) is abnormally early. The lag time between the start of the rainy season in SWC and the onset of the SCSSM in 2019 is 7 pentads, which is the largest since 1961, much longer than the climate mean(less than 1 pentad). The present study analyzes the possible reasons why the rainy season came extremely late and the drought disaster persisted and intensified after a much early SCSSM, at both seasonal and subseasonal timescales. The abnormally late onset of the rainy season and the second greatest potential evapotranspiration(PET) since 1981 are the direct reasons for the persistent drought. Statistical results show that the water vapor from southwest of Yunnan in April–June contributes more than that from the east at the seasonal scale. In April–June 2019, however, the southern branch trough(SBT) was abnormally weak, the large and strong anticyclonic wind anomaly prevailed over the Bay of the Bengal(BOB), and the meridional water vapor transport to Yunnan was weak. At the subseasonal scale, the weaker SBT lasted the longest, and the strong convection over the BOB came up late despite of an early onset of the SCSSM, which resulted in reduced low-level moisture convergence in Yunnan and development of drought prior to the SCSSM onset. From the onset of SCSSM to the start of rainy season in SWC, the SBT and meridional water vapor transport from the BOB were still weak, and the water vapor was mainly transported into the coastal area of South and Southeast China rather than Yunnan. After the start of the rainy season in SWC, the SBT was still weak. This led to less moisture transport in the westerlies to the west of Yunnan and the persistent extreme drought. Both the statistical results and case analysis indicate that the stronger Australian high in spring and early summer of 2019 was associated with the abnormally strong anticyclone over the BOB and the always weak SBT. | 17 | Characteristics of the phytoplankton community and bioaccumulation of heavy metals during algal blooms in Xiangjiang River (Hunan,China)显示文摘The frequency of algal blooms has increased in the mid and downstream reaches of the Xiangjiang River (Hunan,China),one of the most heavily polluted rivers in China.We identified the bloom-forming species in a bloom that occurred mid-late September 2010.In addition,we determined the extent of metal bioaccumulation in the algae and measured the toxicity of the algae using a mouse bioassay.Water samples were collected at upstream (Yongzhou),midstream (Hengyang),and downstream (Zhuzhou,Xiangtan,and Changsha) sites.The dominant species was Aulacoseira granulata,formerly known as Melosira granulata.The heaviest bloom occurred at Xiangtan and Changsha,where the number of A.granulata peaked at 1.3×10 5 filaments L 1 and chlorophyll a at 0.04 mg L 1.Concentrations of Al,Fe,and Mn were 4.4 10 3,768.4,and 138.7 mg kg 1 dry weight in the phytoplankton.The bioaccumulation factor was 4.0×10 5,7.7×10 5,and 3.2×10 3,respectively.The heavy metal Pb had the greatest tendency to bioaccumulate among the highly toxic heavy metals,with a concentration of 19.2 mg kg 1 dry weight and bioaccumulation factor of 9.6×10 3.The mouse bioassay suggested the bloom was toxic.The LD 50 was 384 mg kg 1 and all surviving mice lost weight during the first 72 h after exposure.Our results demonstrate that blooms of A.granulata in rivers contaminated with heavy metals pose a threat to freshwater ecosystems and human health.Thus,measures should be taken to control eutrophication and heavy metal pollution in such rivers. | LI Jie PENG FuLi DING DongBo ZHANG ShuBing LI DeLiang ZHANG Ting | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,10: | 6 |

After N doping, the band gap decreases, shallow acceptor impurity levels are introduced over the top of the valence band and the absorption band edge is slightly red-shifted compared to that of the intrinsic one. The anisotropic optical properties are investigated by means of the complex dielectric function, which are explained by the selection rule of the band-to-band transitions.
