| 1 | Optical properties of the micro/nano structures of Morpho butterfly wing scales显示文摘The micro/nano structures of the wing scales in Morpho butterfly are responsible for the structural coloration,with a major part ascribed to interference and diffraction of light.The optical properties of the butterfly wings were investigated by simulating a two-dimensional model using rigorous coupled-wave analysis technique.It is proved that they depend strongly on the structural parameters,incidence angle and refractive index.The peak value and the peak wavelength of the reflection efficiency increase as the vertical periodic thickness increases.The peak value decreases observably,while both of the bandwidth and the peak wavelength increase when the number of the vertical periods decreases.Increase of the horizontal periodic width causes a decrease of the peak value and an increase of the peak wavelength,although the variations are small.The peak value decreases distinctly and the peak wavelength increases as the ambient refractive index increases,which corresponds to the variation in ambient conditions.The research reveals the mechanisms of the brilliant structural color in Morpho butterfly,and is of great significance to the design,manufacture and applications of the bionic micro/nano structures for gas detection. | LIAO GuangLan,ZUO HaiBo,CAO YanBo & SHI TieLin State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology,Huazhong University of Science and Technology,Wuhan 430074,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,1: | 10 |
| 2 | Amine reclaiming technologies in post-combustion carbon dioxide capture显示文摘Amine scrubbing is the most developed technology for carbon dioxide(CO2) capture.Degradation of amine solvents due to the presence of high levels of oxygen and other impurities in flue gas causes increasing costs and deterioration in long term performance,and therefore purification of the solvents is needed to overcome these problems. This review presents the reclaiming of amine solvents used for post combustion CO2capture(PCC). Thermal reclaiming, ion exchange, and electrodialysis, although principally developed for sour gas sweetening, have also been tested for CO2 capture from flue gas.The three technologies all have their strengths and weaknesses, and further development is needed to reduce energy usage and costs. | 3 | CLASSIFICATION OF GEAR FAULTS USING HIGHER-ORDER STATISTICS AND SUPPORT VECTOR MACHINES显示文摘Gears alternately mesh and detach in driving process, and then working conditions of gears are alternately changing, so they are easy to be spalled and worn. But because of the effect of additive gaussian measurement noises, the signal-to-noises ratio is low; their fault features are difficult to extract. This study aims to propose an approach of gear faults classification,using the cumulants and support vector machines. The cumulants can eliminate the additive gaussian noises, boost the signal-to-noises ratio. Generalisation of support vector machines as classifier, which is employed structural risk minimisation principle, is superior to that of conventional neural networks, which is employed traditional empirical risk minimisation principle. Support vector machines as the classifier, and the third and fourth order cumulants as input, gears faults are successfully recognized. | 6 | Unmanned aerial vehicle swarm mission reliability modeling and evaluation method oriented to systematic and networked mission显示文摘With the development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) system autonomy, network communication technology and group intelligence theory, mission execution in the form of a UAV swarm will be an important realization of future applications. Traditional single-UAV mission reliability modeling methods have been unable to meet the requirements of UAV swarm mission reliability modeling. Therefore, the UAV swarm mission reliability modeling and evaluation method is proposed. First, aimed at the interdependence among the multiple layers, a multi-layer network model of a UAV swarm is established. At the same time, based on the system having the following characteristics—using a mission chain to complete the mission and applying the connectivity of the mission network—the mission network model of a UAV swarm is established. Second, vulnerability and connectivity are selected as two indicators to reflect the reliability of the mission, and aimed at random attack and deliberate attack, vulnerability and connectivity evaluation methods are proposed. Finally, the validity and accuracy of the constructed model are verified through simulations,and the model and selected indicators can meet the reliability requirements of the UAV swarm mission. | 7 | Efficient Carbon-Based CsPbBr_3 Inorganic Perovskite Solar Cells by Using Cu-Phthalocyanine as Hole Transport Material显示文摘Metal halide perovskite solar cells(PSCs) have attracted extensive research interest for next-generation solution-processed photovoltaic devices because of their high solar-to-electric power conversion efficiency(PCE)and low fabrication cost. Although the world's best PSC successfully achieves a considerable PCE of over 20% within a very limited timeframe after intensive efforts, the stability, high cost, and up-scaling of PSCs still remain issues. Recently, inorganic perovskite material, CsPbBr_3, is emerging as a promising photo-sensitizer with excellent durability and thermal stability, but the efficiency is still embarrassing. In this work, we intend to address these issues by exploiting CsPbBr_3 as light absorber, accompanied by using Cu-phthalocyanine(CuPc) as hole transport material(HTM) and carbon as counter electrode. The optimal device acquires a decent PCE of 6.21%, over 60% higher than those of the HTM-free devices. The systematic characterization and analysis reveal a more effective charge transfer process and a suppressed charge recombination in PSCs after introducing CuPc as hole transfer layer. | 8 | Automated X-ray recognition of solder bump defects based on ensemble-ELM显示文摘Solder bumps realize the mechanical and electrical interconnection between chips and substrates in surface mount components,such as flip chip, wafer level packaging and three-dimensional integration. With the trend to smaller and lighter electronics,solder bumps decrease in dimension and pitch in order to achieve higher I/O density. Automated and nondestructive defect inspection of solder bumps becomes more difficult. Machine learning is a way to recognize the solder bump defects online and overcome the effect caused by the human eye-fatigue. In this paper, we proposed an automated and nondestructive X-ray recognition method for defect inspection of solder bumps. The X-ray system captured the images of the samples and the solder bump images were segmented from the sample images. Seven features including four geometric features, one texture feature and two frequency-domain features were extracted. The ensemble-ELM was established to recognize the defects intelligently. The results demonstrated the high recognition rate compared to the single-ELM. | 10 | Improving multi-layer spiking neural networks by incorporating brain-inspired rules显示文摘This paper introduces seven brain-inspired rules that are deeply rooted in the understanding of the brain to improve multi-layer spiking neural networks(SNNs). The dynamics of neurons, synapses, and plasticity models are considered to be major characteristics of information processing in brain neural networks.Hence, incorporating these models and rules to traditional SNNs is expected to improve their efficiency. The proposed SNN model can mainly be divided into three parts: the spike generation layer, the hidden layers, and the output layer. In the spike generation layer, non-temporary signals such as static images are converted into spikes by both local and global feature-converting methods. In the hidden layers, the rules of dynamic neurons,synapses, the proportion of different kinds of neurons, and various spike timing dependent plasticity(STDP)models are incorporated. In the output layer, the function of classification for excitatory neurons and winner take all(WTA) for inhibitory neurons are realized. MNIST dataset is used to validate the classification accuracy of the proposed neural network model. The structural sensitivity to tension decreases with increasing Cu content. The crystallization enthalpy increases with increasing excess free volume. The characteristic temperatures of the tensile samples can surpass those of the as-cast ones under a critical heating rate which differs in the Cu content. The welded bead, microstructure, and micro-hardness of the welded joint were examined by Keyence, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and Vickers hardness, respectively. The experimental results showed that the Zr41 Ti14 Cu12 Ni10 Be2 bulk metallic glass and zirconium metal were successfully bonded together. The Zr41 Ti14 Cu12 Ni10 Be2 in the base material zone maintained amorphous structure, and the welding fusion zone kept the hardness as high as as-received BMG. | 17 | Experimental Analysis of Microscale Laser Shock Processing on Metallic Material Using Excimer Laser显示文摘Microscale laser shock processing (μLSP), also known as laser shock processing in microscale, is a technique that uses microscale focused laser beam to induce high pressure plasma and generates plastic deformation and compressive residual stress in target materials, thus improves fatigue or stress corrosion cracking resistance of MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Systems) devices made of such a material. Many works have been reported about the research and experiment for μLSP. But the diameters of 50–200 μm were used at the first time for this field, which was useful for treating micro-device components with larger area and curved surface. The excimer laser was used firstly on μLSP for shorter wavelength than that of used in previous researches. The determination method of laser spot size at micro-level spatial resolution was presented. Under these conditions, plastic deformation, the stress analysis and microhardness with different pulse number, pulse energy and pulse spacing were investigated. Especially the residual stress distribution with depth treated by μLSP, was first investigated.
