1Zircon SHRIMP U–Pb age of Late Jurassic OIB-type volcanic rocks from the Tethyan Himalaya: constraints on the initial activity time of the Kerguelen mantle plume显示文摘This work presents zircon U–Pb age and wholerock geochemical data for the volcanic rocks from the Lakang Formation in the southeastern Tethyan Himalaya and represents the initial activity of the Kerguelen mantle plume. SHRIMP U–Pb dating of zircons from the volcanic rocks yielded a ^(206) Pb/^(238) U age of 147 ± 2 Ma that reflects the time of Late Jurassic magmatism. Whole rock analyses of major and trace elements show that the volcanic rocks are characterized by high content of Ti O_2(2.62 wt%–4.25 wt%) and P_2O_5(0.38 wt%–0.68 wt%), highly fractionated in LREE/HREE [(La/Yb)N= 5.35–8.31] with no obvious anomaly of Eu, and HFSE enrichment with no obvious anomaly of Nb and Ta, which are similar to those of ocean island basalts and tholeiitic basaltic andesites indicating a mantle plume origin. The Kerguelen mantle plume produced a massive amount of magmatic rocks from Early Cretaceous to the present, which widely dispersed from their original localities of emplacement due to the changing motions of the Antarctic, Australian, and Indian plates. However, our new geochronological and geochemical results indicate that the Kerguelen mantle plume started from the Late Jurassic. Furthermore, we suggest that the Kerguelen mantle plume may played a significant role in the breakup of eastern Gondwanaland according to the available geochronological, geochemical and paleomagnetic data.Yuruo Shi Chenyang Hou J. 2Template synthesis of N——F-codoped TiO_2 nanotubes with high visible light activity显示文摘A series of highly ordered N-F-codoped TiO2 nanotubes were synthesized with a simple template technique and the obtained samples were detected by FE-SEM and XPS. The UV-Vis absorption spectrum showed that after N-F-codoping,TiO2 nanotubes had a new absorption band at 425 nm,leading to a photoresponse in the visible region. 3Simulation analysis on characteristics of land surface over western Qinghai-Xizang Plateau during freez-ing-thawing period显示文摘Using the Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment-Asian Monsoon-Tibet Plateau Experiment (GAME-Tibet) observa-tional data-from October 2002 through September 2003-of Gaize in the western Qinghai-Xizang Plateau (QXP),the land-surface characteristics of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau are simulated by the improved land-surface model Common Land Model (CoLM).The results show that CoLM can reproduce the land-surface characteristics of plateau areas well.In the sur-face-energy balance of the western QXP in the winter half year,the sensible heat (SH) flux constituted the dominant energy,and the latent heat (LH,here and after) flux is very small.Although the LH flux nearly equals zero in freezing season,it cannot be ig-nored during the period of freezing-thawing in QXP.In the transition season from midto late-May,the frequent phase change of soil water that is caused by the freezing-thawing process leads to the increase of LH flux and decrease of the Bowen ratio.The simulation results also indicate that the changes of surface effective heat fluxes (SH and LH flux) are associated with precipitation and the frequent change between freezing and thawing processes in soil surface.ChengHai Wang,Rui Shi,Yang Cui,HongChao Zuo College of Atmospheric Sciences,Lanzhou University.No.222,South Tianshui Road,Lanzhou,Gansu 730000,China. 2009Research in Cold and Arid Regions2009,1,4:3
4Reliability of Relative Paleointensity Recorded in Chinese Loess-Paleosol Sediments显示文摘A detailed paleomagnetic and rock-magnetic investigation spanning loess L7 to paleosol S8 has been carried out at the Baoji and Xifeng sections. Results of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility confirm that the studied loess-paleosol sediments retain primary sedimentary fabrics. Stepwise thermal demagnetization shows that two well-defined magnetization components can be isolated from both loess and paleosol specimens. A low-temperature component, isolated between 100°C and 200°C, is consistent with the present geomagnetic field direction, and a high-temperature component, isolated between 200-300°C and 620-680°C, includes clearly normal and reversed polarities. Isothermal remanent magnetization and thermomagnetic analyses indicate that characteristic remanent magnetization is mainly carried by magnetite and hematite. The Day plot, together with the stratigraphic variations of rock-magnetic parameters, shows that the uniformity of magnetic mineralogy and grain size fulfills the criteria for relative paleointensity (RPI) studies. RPI records have been constructed using natural remanent magnetization (NRM) intensity after thermal demagnetization at 300°C normalized by low-frequency magnetic susceptibility (NRM 300 /χ). The results show that the RPI record from the Baoji section, where pedogenesis is quite weak, is compatible with the stacked PISO-1500 paleointensity record, suggesting that it might reflect the paleointensity variation of the geomagnetic field. The RPI record from the Xifeng section, where pedogenesis is rather strong, indicates a clear dissimilarity with the stacked PISO-1500 paleointensity record, implying that it does not reflect the paleointensity variation of the geomagnetic field. 6Catalytic applications of single-atom metal-anchored hydroxides:Recent advances and perspective显示文摘Developing isolated single atomic noble metal catalysts is one of the most effective methods to maximize noble metal atom utilization efficiency and enhance catalytic performances.Layered double hydroxides(LDHs)are two-dimensional nanoarchitectures in which M^(3+) and M^(2+) sites are atomically isolated due to static repulsions,providing special anchoring sites for single noble metal atoms and enabling the tuning of catalytic activity.Herein,a comprehensive review of the advances in LDHs supported single-atom catalysts(M/LDH SACs)is presented,focusing on the synthetic strategies,structure characterization,and application of M/LDH SACs in energy devices.Strong electronic coupling between single atomic noble metal atoms and corresponding anchoring sites of LDHs determines not only the catalytic activity of M/LDH SACs but also the stability during catalytic reactions.Furthermore,a perspective is proposed to highlight the challenges and opportunities for understanding the reaction mechanism and development of highly efficient M/LDH SACs.Xinxuan Duan Tianshui Li Xin Jiang Xun Liu Liping Xin Hongbin Yang Yun Kuang Xiaoming Sun 2022Materials Reports(Energy)2022,2,3:1
7Movement History of the Microcontinents from the Tibetan Plateau Based on Paleomagnetic Results with Sufficient Sampling Units显示文摘Paleomagnetic results cannot be applied in global and regional tectonic reconstructions unless the paleosecular variation has been adequately averaged.However,how many sampling sites and samples are enough to calculate a reliable paleopole remains debated.Based on the relation among the sampling sites N,the precision parameter k,the virtual geomagnetic pole scatter s,and the confidence limit A_(95) of the paleopole,we find that 20 sites(samples)or more are required to yield a paleopole with an A_(95)≈5°based on a review of available paleomagnetic results from the Lhasa,Qiangtang and Tethyan Himalaya.Random samplings of Jurassic virtual geomagnetic poles from the Sangri area show that the Fisher mean pole with neglectable angle deviation can be obtained when sampling sites increase to 20.High-quality paleomagnetic results,with sites/samples number N/n≥~20–30,show that the Qiangtang,Lhasa,and Tethyan Himalaya moved northward in the Late Permian–Middle Triassic,Jurassic,and Cretaceous,respectively,and then accreted to Asia in the Late Triassic,Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous and Paleocene–Early Eocene,respectively.Yiming Ma Weimin Ruan Chao Niu Tianshui Yang 2022Journal of Earth Science2022,33,5:0
8High-frequency polarity swings during the Gauss-Matuyama reversal from Baoji loess sediment显示文摘Paleomagnetic records of the Gauss-Matuyama reversal were obtained from two loess sections at Baoji on the Chinese Loes Plateau. Stepwise thermal demagnetization shows two obvious magnetization components. A low-temperature component iso lated between 100 and 200–250℃ is close to the present geomagnetic field direction, and a high-temperature component iso lated above 200–250℃ reveals clearly normal, reversed, and transitional polarities. Magnetostratigraphic results of both sec tions indicated that the Gauss-Matuyama reversal consists of a high-frequency polarity fluctuation zone, but the characteristic remanent magnetization directions during the reversal are clearly inconsistent. Rock magnetic experiments demonstrated tha for all the specimens with normal, reversed, and transitional polarities magnetite and hematite are the main magnetic carriers Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility indicates that the studied loess sediments have a primary sedimentary fabric. Based on virtual geomagnetic pole latitudes, the Gauss-Matuyama reversal records in the two sections are accompanied by 14 short-lived geomagnetic episodes(15 rapid polarity swings) and 12 short-lived geomagnetic episodes(13 rapid polarity swings), respec tively. Our new records, together with previous ones from lacustrine, marine, and aeolian deposits, suggest that high-frequency polarity swings coexist with the Gauss-Matuyama reversal, and that the Gauss-Matuyama reversal may have taken more than11 kyr to complete.
