1Challenges in diagnosing mesenteric ischemia显示文摘Early identification of acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is challenging. The wide variability in clinical presentation challenges providers to make an early accurate diagnosis. Despite major diagnostic and treatment advances over the past decades, mortality remains high. Arterial embolus and superior mesenteric artery thrombosis are common causes of AMI. Non-occlusive causes are less common, but vasculitis may be important, especially in younger people. Because of the unclear clinical presentation and non-specific laboratory findings, low clinical suspicion may lead to loss of valuable time. During this diagnostic delay, progression of ischemia to transmural bowel infarction with peritonitis and septicemia may further worsen patient outcomes. Several diagnostic modalities are used to assess possible AMI. Multi-detector row computed tomographic angiography is the current gold standard. Although computed tomographic angiography leads to an accurate diagnosis in many cases, early detection is a persistent problem. Because early diagnosis is vital to commence treatment, new diagnostic strategies are needed. A non-invasive simple biochemical test would be ideal to increase clinical suspicion of AMI and would improve patient selection for radiographic evaluation. Thus, AMI could be diagnosed earlier with follow-up computed tomographic angiography or high spatial magnetic resonance imaging. Experimental in vitro and in vivo studies show promise for alpha glutathione S transferase and intestinal fatty acid binding protein as markers for AMI. 3Cryptococcus gattii infections in China: extent of the problem?显示文摘Approximately 70 species are accepted in the genus Cryptococcus;1 however,only two species,Cryptococcus neoformans (C.neoformans,serotypes A,AD and D) and C.gattii (serotypes B and C) are responsible for almost all human cryptococcal infections,2,3 and resulted in over 1 million new cases of cryptococcosis in the world each year with over 600 000casualties.4 It is generally assumed that cryptococcal infections are acquired by inhalation of fungal spores,desiccated cells,or poorly encapsulated yeasts from environmental niches,such as decayed wood debris of certain tree species or bird droppings.5 Epidemiological surveys have shown that C neoformans caused about 80% of cryptococcosis cases globally each year,particularly in immunocompromised persons,such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected people and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients,2,3 while C.gattii primarily infects apparently immunocompetent hosts,and is mainly responsible for the remaining cases of cryptococcosis.6。CHEN Min PAN Wei-hua Teun Boekhout 2013Chinese Medical Journal2013,,2:5

7Arabidopsis EXO70A1 recruits Patellin3 to the cell membrane independent of its role as an exocyst subunit显示文摘The exocyst is a well-known complex which tethers vesicles at the cell membrane before fusion. Whether an individual subunit can execute a unique function is largely unknown. Using yeast-two-hybrid(Y2H) analysis, we found that EXO70A1 interacted with the GOLD domain of Patellin3(PATL3). The direct EXO70A1-PATL3 interaction was supported by in vitro and in vivo experiments. In Arabidopsis, PATL3-GFP colocalized with EXO70A1 predominantly at the cell membrane, and PATL3 localization was insensitive to BFA and Try A23. Remarkably, in the exo70 a1 mutant, PATL3 proteins accumulated as punctate structures within the cytosol, which did not colocalize with several endomembrane compartment markers, and was insensitive to BFA. Furthermore, PATL3 localization was not changed in the exo70 e2, PRsec6 or exo84b mutants. These data suggested that EXO70A1, but not other exocyst subunits, was responsible for PATL3 localization,which is independent of its role in secretory/recycling vesicletethering/fusion. Both EXO70A1 and PATL3 were shown to bind PI4 P and PI(4,5)P2 in vitro. 9Growth efficiency,intestinal biology,and nutrient utilization and requirements of black soldier fly(Hermetia illucens)larvae compared to monogastric livestock species:a review显示文摘In recent years,interest in the larvae of black soldier fly(BSF)(Hermetia illucens)as a sustainable protein resource for livestock feed has increased considerably.However,knowledge on the nutritional and physiological aspects of this insect,especially compared to other conventional farmed animals is scarce.This review presents a critical comparison of data on the growth potential and efficiency of the BSF larvae(BSFL)compared to conventional monogastric livestock species.Advantages of BSFL over other monogastric livestock species includes their high growth rate and their ability to convert low-grade organic waste into high-quality protein and fat-rich biomass suitable for use in animal feed.Calculations using literature data suggest that BSFL are more efficient than broilers,pigs and fish in terms of conversion of substrate protein into body mass,but less efficient than broilers and fish in utilization of substrate gross energy to gain body mass.BSFL growth efficiency varies greatly depending on the nutrient quality of their dietary substrates.This might be associated with the function of their gastrointestinal tract,including the activity of digestive enzymes,the substrate particle characteristics,and their intestinal microbial community.The conceived advantage of BSFL having an environmental footprint better than conventional livestock is only true if BSFL is produced on low-grade organic waste and its protein would directly be used for human consumption.Therefore,their potential role as a new species to better close nutrient cycles in agro-ecological systems needs to be reconsidered,and we conclude that BSFL is a complementary livestock species efficiently utilizing organic waste that cannot be utilized by other livestock.In addition,we provide comparative insight into morpho-functional aspects of the gut,characterization of digestive enzymes,gut microbiota and fiber digestion.Finally,current knowledge on the nutritional utilization and requirements of BSFL in terms of macro-and micronutrients is reviewed and found to be rather limited.In addition,the research methods to determine nutritional requirements of conventional livestock are not applicable for BSFL.Thus,there is a great need for research on the nutrient requirements of BSFL.Mohammad M.Seyedalmoosavi Manfred Mielenz Teun Veldkamp Gurbuz Das Cornelia C.Metges 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,5:2
