2Analyzing the characterization of pore structures and permeability of diesel contaminated clays under different aging conditions显示文摘In this study,mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP)and X-ray micro-computed tomography(XRµCT)were used to characterize the pore structures and investigate the permeability characteristics of clay after aging and contamination with diesel.The results of the MIP tests showed that aging leads to reductions in porosity and average diameter,as well as an increase in tortuosity.The XRµCT analysis yielded consistent results;it showed that aging renders pores more spherical and isotropic and pore surfaces smoother.This weakens the pore connectivity.Micromorphological analysis revealed that aging led to the rearrangement of soil particles,tighter interparticle overlapping,and a reduction in pore space.The combination of MIP and XRµCT provided a comprehensive and reliable characterization of the soil pore structure.An increased diesel content increased the porosity and average diameter and reduced the tortuosity of the pores.Mechanistic analysis showed that aging weakens interparticle cohesion;this causes large agglomerates to break down into smaller agglomerates,resulting in a tighter arrangement and a subsequent reduction in porosity.An increase in diesel content increases the number of large agglomerates and pore spaces between agglomerates,resulting in increased porosity.Both aging and diesel content can weaken the permeation characteristics of soil.Yeyang CHUN Dong ZHOU Zonghui LIU Chenhui LIU Tenglong LIANG Dongpo SU Zheng HUANG 2023Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2023,17,8:0
3Characterization on the hydrodynamics of a covering-plate Rushton impeller显示文摘A modified Rushton impeller with two circular covering-plates mounted on the upper and lower sides of the blades was designed.There are gaps between the plates and the blades.The turbulent hydrodynamics was analyzed by the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) method.Firstly,the reliability of the numerical model and simulation method was verified by comparing with the experimental results from literature.Subsequently,the power consumption,flow pattern,mean velocity and mixing time of the covering-plate Rushton impeller(RT-C) were studied and compared with the standard Rushton impeller(RT) operated under the same conditions.Results show that the power consumption can be decreased about 18%.Compared with the almost unchanged flow field in the lower stirred tank,the mean velocity was increased at the upper half of the stirred tank.And in the impeller region,the mean axial and radial velocities were increased,the mean tangential velocity was decreased.In addition,the average mixing time of RT-C was shortened about 4.14% than the counterpart of RT.The conclusions obtained here indicated that RT-C has a more effective mixing performance and it can be used as an alternative of RT in the process industries.Tenglong Su Fengling Yang Meiting Li Kanghui Wu 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,6:0
