2The high-resolution climate recorded in the δ^(18)O of Porites lutea from the Nansha Islands of China显示文摘A Porites lutea core from Yongshu Reef of Nansha Islands covering 50 years growth history was ana-ly/ed for oxygen isotopic composition with monthly and seasonally resolution. The calibration of the δ18O with the instrumental temperature indicated that the coral δ18O is a good indicator for sea surface temperature (SST) and air temperature (t). It can be used to reconstruct the SST and air temperature of the Yongshu Reef sea area. In addition, the coral δ18O provides signatures for the intensity of the East Asia monsoon and it is a record for the activities of El Nino events. With the calibrated SST and air temperature formulas, the most recent fifty years SST and air temperature were reconstructed based on the coral δ18O, thus back up the understanding of the climate of Nansha Islands to 1950. far beyond the limit of the instrumental recording since September 1988. 3Enhanced orange emission by doping CeB_6 in CaAlSiN_3:Ce^(3+) phosphor for application in white LEDs显示文摘A series of CeB6-doped and CeO_2-doped Ca_(1-x)SiAlN_3:xCe3+(denoted as CASN:Ce3+@CeB6 and CASN:Ce3+@CeO_2, respectively) were synthesized by alloy-nitridation method under high-purity nitrogen atmosphere. The morphologies, crystal phases, and luminescence properties were investigated in detail.With an increase in the concentration of CeB_6, the unit cell volume of CASN:Ce3+@CeB_6 slightly increases due to the substitution between ions, which leads to a change of micro structure around Ce3+. CASN:Ce3+@CeB6 efficiently emits yellow-orange light with a maximum emission intensity at around 550 nm for the content x of 0.01(being in comparable situation, CASN:Ce3+@CeO_2 is x = 0.04) when excited at460 nm. Compared with CASN:Ce3+@CeO_2, the red emission component of Ce3+ in CASN:Ce3+@CeB6 is much stronger. This is ascribed to energy transfer of intra-Ce3+(within one Ce3+ ion) and inter-Ce3+(between Ce3+ and Ce3+ ions). In addition, the replacements of N3-(0.132 nm for CN = 4) and O^(2-)(0.124 nm for CN = 4) by B^(2-)(0.140 nm for CN = 4), which can lead to a marked expansion of the host lattice and a decrease of the oxidation of samples, are also responsible for the increase of red emission component. Furthermore, CASN:Ce3+@CeB_6 phosphor has an excellent thermal stability because of the partial substitution of Ce-O(Ce-N) bonds by more covalent Ce-B. 5Association between TNF-a and IL-1β genotypes vs Helicobacter pylori infection in Indonesia显示文摘AIM:To investigate the correlation between the Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection and host genetic background of healthy populations in Indonesia.METHODS:In March 2007,epidemiological studies were undertaken on the general population of a city in Indonesia(Mataram,Lombok).The participants included 107 men and 187 women,whose ages ranged from6 to 74 years old,with an average age of 34.0(±14.4)(±SD).The H.pylori of subject by UBT method determination,and through the polymerase chain reaction with confronting two-pair primers(PCR-CTPP)method parsing the single nucleotide polymorphism of interleukin(IL)-8,IL-4,IL-1β,CD14,tumor necrosis factor(TNF-a)and tyrosine-protein phosphates non-receptor type 11(PTPN11)genotypes.The experimental data were analyzed by the statistical software SAS.RESULTS:The H.pylori infection rates in the healthy Indonesian population studied were 8.4%for men and12.8%for women;no obvious differences were noted for H.pylori infection rates by sex or age.TC genotypes of IL-4,TC and CC genotypes of TNF-a,and GA genotypes of PTPN11,were higher in frequency.Both CC and TC genotype of TNF-a T-1031C loci featured higher expressions in the healthy Indonesian population Indonesia studied of(OR=1.99;95%CI:0.67-5.89)and(OR=1.66;95%CI:0.73-3.76),respectively.C allele of IL-1βT-31C gene locus was at a higher risk(OR=1.11;95%CI:0.70-1.73)of H.pylori infection,but no statistical significance was found in our study.CONCLUSION:We reveal that the association between the TNF-a and IL-1βgenotypes may be the susceptibility of H.pylori in the studied population.Yang Zhao Jing-Wen Wang Tsutomu Tanaka Akihiro Hosono Ryosuke Ando Shinkan Tokudome Soeripto FX Ediati Triningsih Tegu Triono Suwignyo Sumoharjo EY Wenny Astuti Achwan Stephanus Gunawan Yu-Min Li 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,46:5
6Testing coral paleothermometers(B/Ca, Mg/Ca, Sr/Ca, U/Ca and δ^(18)O) under impacts of large riverine runoff显示文摘Sea surface temperature(SST) proxies including B/Ca, Mg/Ca, Sr/Ca, U/Ca and δ18O were analyzed in the skeleton of a Porites coral collected from the Zhujiang River(Pearl River) Estuary(ZRE). These geochemical proxies are influenced by river runoff and this area of the northern South China Sea is strongly affected by seasonal freshwater floods. We assessed the robustness of each SST proxy through comparison with the local instrumental SST. Coral Sr/Ca shows the highest correlation with SST variations(r2=0.59), suggesting Sr/Ca is the most robust SST proxy. In contrast, coral δ18O(r2=0.46), B/Ca(r2=0.43) and U/Ca(r2=0.41) ratios were only moderately correlated with SST variations, suggesting that they are disturbed by some other factors in addition to SST. The poor correlation(r2=0.27) between SST and Mg/Ca indicates that Mg/Ca in coral skeletons is not a simple function of SST variations. 7Anomalous Ba/Ca signals associated with low temperature stresses in Porites corals from Daya Bay,northern South China Sea显示文摘Barium to calcium (Ba/Ca) ratio in corals has been considered as a useful geochemical proxy for upwelling,river flood and other oceanic processes.However,recent studies indicated that additional environmental or biological factors can influence the incorporation of Ba into coral skeletons.In this study,Ba/Ca ratios of two Porites corals collected from Daya Bay,northern South China Sea were analyzed.Ba/Ca signals in the two corals were ‘anomalous’ in comparison with Ba behaviors seen in other near-shore corals influenced by upwelling or riverine runoff.Our Ba/Ca profiles displayed similar and remarkable patterns characterized by low and randomly fluctuating background signals periodically interrupted by sharp and large synchronous peaks,clearly indicating an environmental forcing.Further analysis indicated that the Ba/Ca profiles were not correlated with previously claimed environmental factors such as precipitation,coastal upwelling,anthropogenic activities or phytoplankton blooms in other areas.The maxima of Ba/Ca appeared to occur in the period of Sr/Ca maxima,coinciding with the winter minimum temperatures,which suggests that the anomalous high Ba/Ca signals were related to winter-time low sea surface temperature.We speculated that the Ba/Ca peaks in corals of the Daya Bay were most likely the results of enrichment of Ba-rich particles in their skeletons when coral polyps retracted under the stresses of anomalous winter low temperatures.In this case,Ba/Ca ratio in relatively high-latitude corals can be a potential proxy for tracing the low temperature stress.Tianran Chen Kefu Yu Shu Li Tegu Chen Qi Shi 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,9:3
8Magnetocaloric Effect in MnCo_(1-x)Al_xGe Compounds显示文摘The effects of substitution of Al for Co on magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of MnCo1-xAlxGe (x=0.00, 0.03, 0.05, 0.08, 0.10, 0.13, 0.15, and 0.20) compounds have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and magnetization measurements. XRD exhibits that MnCo1-xAlxGe compounds crystallize in the orthorhombic TiNiSi-type structure for x≤0.03 and in the hexagonal Ni2In-type crystal structure for x>0.03. Magnetic measurements show that the Curie temperature can be tuned between 286 and 347 K by changing the Co/Al ratio. The maximum magnetic entropy change determined from the isothermal magnetization measurement by Maxwell relation reaches 1.52 J/(kgK) for x=0.08 in a field change from 0 to 1.5 T around 310 K.O. 11CALCULATION OF THE MAGNETIZATION AND MAGNETOCALORIC EFFECT IN THE MnFeP_(0.45)As_(0.55) COMPOUND显示文摘A magnetic state equation of the MnFeP0.45As0.55 compound has been obtained by minimizing the Gibbs free energy with respect to the volume and the magnetization based on the Bean-Rodbell model. The isothermal magnetization of the compound has been calculated using this equation. The magnetic entropy change of the compound was determined from the surface area between the two adjacent isothermal magnetization curves divided by the average temperature.
