| 1 | Effect of rat serum containing Biejiajian oral liquid on proliferation of rat hepatic stellate cells显示文摘AIM: Liver fibrosis is a common pathological process of chronic liver diseases. Activation of hepatic stellate cells(HSCs) is the key issue in the occurrence of liver fibrosis. In this study, we observed the inhibitory action of rat serum containing Biejiajian oral liquid (BOL), a decoction of turtle shell, on proliferation of rat HSCs, and to explore the antihepatofibrotic mechanisms of BOL.METHODS: A rat model of hepatic fibrosis was induced by subcutaneous injection of CC14. Serum containing low,medium and high dosages of BOL was prepared respectively.Normal and fibrotic HSCs were isolated and cultured. The effect of sera containing BOL on proliferation of HSCs was determined by 3H-TdR incorporation.RESULTS: The inhibitory rate of normal rat HSC proliferation caused by 100 mL/mL sera containing medium and high dosages of BOL showed a remarkable difference as compared with that caused by colchicine (medium dosage group:34.56±4.21% vs29.12±2.85%, P<0.01; high dosage group:37.82±1.32% vs29.12±2.85%, P<0.01). The inhibitory rate of fibrotic rat HSC proliferation caused by 100 mL/L serum containing medium and high dosages of BOL showed a remarkable difference as compared with that caused by colchicine (medium dosage group: 51.31_+3.14% vs 38.32_+2.65%,P<0.01; high dosage group: 60.15_+5.36% vs38.32_+2.65%,P<0.01). The inhibitory rate of normal rat HSC proliferation caused by 100 mL/L and 200 mL/L sera containing a medium dosage of BOL showed a significant difference as compared with that caused by 50 mL/L (100 mL/L group: 69.02±9.96%vs 50.82±9.28%, P<0.05; 200 mL/L group: 81.78±8.92%vs50.82±9.28%, P<0.01). The inhibitory rate of fibrotic rat HSC proliferation caused by 100 mL/L and 200 mL/L sera containing a medium dosage of BOL showed a significant difference as compared with that caused by 50 mL/L (100 mL/L group:72.19±10.96% vs 61.38±7.16%, P<0.05; 200 mL/L group:87.16±8.54% vs 61.38±7.16%, P<0.01).CONCLUSION: Rat serum containing BOL can inhibit proliferation of rat HSCs, and the inhibition depends on the dosage and concentration of BOL. | 2 | Functional neuroimaging of e xtraversion-introversion显示文摘Neuroimaging techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography have provided an unprecedented neurobiological perspective for research on personality traits. Evidence from task-related neuroimaging has shown that extraversion is associated with activations in regions of the anterior cingulate cortex,dorsolateral prefrontal cortex,middle temporal gyrus and the amygdala. Currently,resting-state neuroimaging is being widely used in cognitive neuroscience. Initial exploration of extraversion has revealed correlations with the medial prefrontal cortex,anterior cingulate cortex,insular cortex,and the precuneus. Recent research work has indicated that the long- range temporal dependence of the resting-state spontaneous oscillation has high test-retest reliability. Moreover,the long-range temporal dependence of t he resting-state networks is highly correlated with personality traits,and this can be used for the prediction of extraversion. | 3 | Species richness and composition of shrub-encroached grasslands in relation to environmental factors in northern China显示文摘Aims Shrub encroachment has taken place in many of China’s northern grasslands.This study attempts to answer the following questions:which plant communities are present in these shrub-encroached grasslands(SEGs)?What are the species richness and composition of these communities?Which environmental factors determine the spatial distribution thereof?Methods We investigated the community characteristics of 255 SEG plots with a size of 20 m×20 m at 69 locations across grasslands in northern China.In each plot,paired 1-m^(2) quadrats were estab-lished within shrub patches and the neighbouring grassy matrix to record herb species composition.The quantitative character-istics(abundance,coverage and height)of herbs were meas-ured in 0.25-m2 subquadrats,and soil samples were collected in the quadrats.Two-way indicator species analysis(TWINSPAN),detrended canonical analysis(DCA)and canonical correspond-ence analysis(CCA)were used for community clustering and ordination.Important Findings The DCA and TWINSPAN results suggested that the SEGs in northern China can be divided into six community types:Potentilla fruticosa+Carex atrofusca,Spiraea hypericifolia+Festuca ovina,Caragana acanthophylla+Stipa sareptana,Caragana microphylla+Leymus chinensis,Caragana microphylla+Stipa klemenzii and Caragana tibetica+Cleistogenes songorica.At a regional scale,climate and soil nutrients controlled the spatial patterns of species richness and community composition of the SEGs in northern China.Temperature exerted a negative impact,whereas precipitation and nutrients had positive effects on species richness.Among the environmental factors used,climate was the major controller of the variations in commu-nity structure.These results provide new insights into the community composition of SEGs in China and enrich the global dataset of SEGs. | Luhong Zhou Haihua Shen Leiyi Chen He Li Pujin Zhang Xia Zhao Taoyu Liu Shangshi Liu Aijun Xing Huifeng Hu Jingyun Fang | 2019 | Journal of Plant Ecology2019,12,1: | 3 |
| 4 | Immunotoxins and Cancer Therapy显示文摘In the past decade, an increased amount of clinically-oriented research involving immunotoxins has been published.Immunotoxins are a group of artificially-made cytotoxic molecules targeting cancer cells. These molecules composed of a targeting moiety, such as a ligand or an antibody, linked to toxin moiety, which is a toxin with either truncated or deleted cell-binding domain that prevents it from binding to normal cells. Immunotoxins can be divided into two categories: chemically conjugated immunotoxins and recombinant ones. The immunotoxins of the first category have shown limited efficacy in clinical trials in patients with hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. Within the last few years, single-chain immunotoxins provide enhanced therapeutic efficacy over conjugated forms and result in improved antitumor activity.
