2Release of volatile organic compounds during bio-drying of municipal solid waste显示文摘Three treatments were tested to investigate the release concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the bio-drying of municipal solid waste (MSW) by the aerobic and combined hydrolytic-aerobic processes.Results showed that VOCs were largely released in the first 4 days of bio-drying and the dominant components were:dimethyl disulfide,dimethyl sulfide,benzene,2-butanone,limonene and methylene chloride.Thus,the combined hydrolytic-aerobic process was suggested for MSW bio-drying due to fewer aeration quantities in this phase when compared with the aerobic process,and the treatment strategies should base on the key properties of these prominent components.Malodorous sulfur compounds and terpenes were mainly released in the early phase of bio-drying,whereas,two peaks of release concentrations appeared for aromatics and ketones during bio-drying.Notably,for the combined hydrolytic-aerobic processes there were also high concentrations of released aromatics in the shift from hydrolytic to aerobic stages.High concentrations of released chlorinateds were observed in the later phase.For the VOCs produced during MSW bio-drying,i.e.,malodorous sulfur compounds,terpenes and chlorinateds,their release concentrations were mainly determined by production rates;for the VOCs presented initially in MSW,such as aromatics,their transfer and transport in MSW mainly determined the release concentrations.Pinjing He,Jiafu Tang,Dongqing Zhang,Yang Zeng,Liming ShaoState Key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Resource Reuse,Key Laboratory of Yangtze River Water Environment,College of Environmental Science and Engineering,Tongji University,Shanghai 200092,China. 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,5:13
3Tunable Schottky barrier width and enormously enhanced photoresponsivity in Sb doped SnS2 monolayer显示文摘Doping, which is the intentional introducti on of impurities into a material, can improve the metal-semiconductor interface by reducing Schottky barrier width. Here, we prese nt high-quality two-dime nsional SnS2 nano sheets with well-controlled Sb dopi ng concen tration via direct vapor growth approach and following micromechanical cleavage process. X-ray photoelectro n spectroscopy (XPS) measureme nt dem on strates that Sb contents of the doped samples are approximately 0.22%, 0.34% and 1.21%, respectively, and doping in duces the upward shift of the Fermi level with respect to the pristi ne SnS2. Tran smissio n electro n microscopy (TEM) characterizatio n exhibits that Sb-doped SnS2 nano sheets have a high-quality hexagonal symmetry structure and Sb element is uniformly distributed in the nano sheets. The phototra nsistors based on the Sb-doped SnS2 mono layers show n-type behavior with high mobility which is one order of magn itude higher than that of pristi ne SnS2 phototra nsistors. The photorespo nsivity and exter nal quantum efficiency (EQE) of Sb-S nS2 mono layers phototra nsistors are approximately three orders of magnitude higher than that of pristine SnS2 phototransistor. 5HQ-Tree: A Distributed Spatial Index Based on Hadoop显示文摘In this paper,we propose a novel spatial data index based on Hadoop:HQ-Tree.In HQ-Tree,we use PR QuadTrec to solve the problem of poor efficiency in parallel processing,which is caused by data insertion order and space overlapping.For the problem that HDFS cannot support random write,we propose an updating mechanism,called 'Copy Write',to support the index update.Additionally,HQ-Tree employs a two-level index caching mechanism to reduce the cost of network transferring and I/O operations.Finally,we develop MapReduce-based algorithms,which are able to significantly enhance the efficiency of index creation and query.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our methods.FENG Jun TANG Zhixian WEI Mian XU Liming 2014China Communications2014,11,7:5

10Atomic manganese coordinated to nitrogen and sulfur for oxygen evolution显示文摘Lack of high-efficiency,cost-efficient,and well-stocked oxygen evolution reaction(OER)electrocatalysts is a main challenge in large-scale implementation of electrolytic water.By regulating the electronic structure of isolated single-atom metal sites,highperformance transition-metal-based catalysts can be fabricated to greatly improve the OER performance.Herein,we demonstrate single-atom manganese coordinated to nitrogen and sulfur species in two-dimensional graphene nanosheets MnNSG(NSG means N-and S-codoped graphene)as an active and durable OER catalyst with a low overpotential of 296 mV in alkaline media,compared to that of the benchmark IrO_(2) catalyst.Theoretical calculations and experimental measurements reveal that the Mn-N3S sites in the graphene matrix are the most active sites for the OER due to modified electronic structure of the Mn site by three nitrogen and one sulfur atoms coordination,which show lower theoretical overpotential than the Mn-N4 sites and over which the O–O formation step is the rate-determining step.Xue Bai Liming Wang Bing Nan Tianmi Tang Xiaodi Niu Jingqi Guan 2022Nano Research2022,15,7:3

12Neuroprotective role of edaravone and the effects of endoplasmic reticulum stress in an adult rat model of focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion显示文摘BACKGROUND: Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress impairs ER functions and leads to the accumulation of unfolded or misfolded proteins in the ER lumen. ER stress-induced cell death plays an important role in cerebral ischemia. Edaravon (3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one) is a potent and novel scavenger of free radicals that inhibit delayed neuronal death, as demonstrated by in vitro and animal studies. However, its effect on ER stress and induced neuronal apoptosis in a rat model of brief middle cerebral artery occlusion remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of edaravone on the expression of ER stress-related factors and neuronal apoptosis, based on the hypothesis that edaravone influences ER stress in a rat model of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled, animal study was performed at the Laboratory of Department of Neurology, Xiangya Hospital and the Department of Laboratory Animals, Xiangya Medical College, Central South University in China from June 2005 to May 2006. MATERIALS: Edaravone was purchased from Simcere Pharmaceutical Group, China. METHODS: A total of 216 adult, male, Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to sham-surgery, model and edaravone groups, with 72 rats in each group. Brief middle cerebral artery occlusion was established in the model and edaravone groups. In addition, the edaravone group rats were injected with 3 mg/kg edaravone through the tail vein. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: RNA-dependent protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2α kinase (PERK) and C/EBP homology protein (CHOP) mRNA expression in the ischemic parietal cortex was determined by reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction; phosphorylated PERK and CHOP protein expression was detected by immunohistochemistry; neuronal apoptosis was detected by TdT-mediated-dUTP nick end labeling. RESULTS: Neurological deficit scores were significantly reduced in the edaravone group compared to the model group at 12, 24, and 72 hours following reperfusion (P < 0.05). In addition, PERK and CHOP mRNA as well as phosphorylated PERK and CHOP protein expression were significantly reduced in the edaravone group compared to the model group at 1, 3, and 6 hours following reperfusion (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). CHOP mRNA expression was decreased in the edaravone group compared to the model group at 3, 6, 12, and 24 hours following reperfusion (P < 0.01), while CHOP protein expression was less than the model group at 6, 12, and 24 hours following reperfusion (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Edaravone treatment resulted in decreased PERK and CHOP expression following ischemia/reperfusion, as well as reduced neuronal apoptosis. 13Synergistic effects of autophagy/mitophagy inhibitors and magnolol promote apoptosis and antitumor efficacy显示文摘Mitochondria as a signaling platform play crucial roles in deciding cell fate.Many classic anticancer agents are known to trigger cell death through induction of mitochondrial damage.Mitophagy,one selective autophagy,is the key mitochondrial quality control that effectively removes damaged mitochondria.However,the precise roles of mitophagy in tumorigenesis and anticancer agent treatment remain largely unclear.Here,we examined the functional implication of mitophagy in the anticancer properties of magnolol,a natural product isolated from herbal Magnolia officinalis.First,we found that magnolol induces mitochondrial depolarization,causes excessive mitochondrial fragmentation,and increases mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(mtROS).Second,magnolol induces PTEN-induced putative kinase protein 1(PINK1)-Parkin-mediated mitophagy through regulating two positive feedforward amplification loops.Third,magnolol triggers cancer cell death and inhibits neuroblastoma tumor growth via the intrinsic apoptosis pathway.Moreover,magnolol prolongs the survival time of tumor-bearing mice.Finally,inhibition of mitophagy by PINK1/Parkin knockdown or using inhibitors targeting different autophagy/mitophagy stages significantly promotes magnolol-induced cell death and enhances magnolol's anticancer efficacy,both in vitro and in vivo.Altogether,our study demonstrates that magnolol can induce autophagy/mitophagy and apoptosis,whereas blockage of autophagy/mitophagy remarkably enhances the anticancer efficacy of magnolol,suggesting that targeting mitophagy may be a promising strategy to overcome chemoresistance and improve anticancer therapy.Yancheng Tang Liming Wang Tao Yi Jun Xu Jigang Wang Jiang-Jiang Qin Qilei Chen Ka-Man Yip Yihang Pan Peng Hong Yingying Lu Han-Ming Shen Hu-Biao Chen 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,12:2
