6Modeling mass transfer of CO_2 in brine at high pressures by chemical potential gradient显示文摘To investigate long-term CO2 behavior in geological formations and quantification of possible CO2 leaks, it is crucial to investigate the potential mobility of CO2 dissolved in brines over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales and density distributions in geological media. In this work, the mass transfer of aqueous CO 2 in brines has been investigated by means of a chemical potential gradient model based on non-equilibrium thermodynamics in which the statistical associating fluid theory equation of state was used to calculate the fugacity coefficient of CO2 in brine. The investigation shows that the interfacial concentration of aqueous CO2 and the corresponding density both increase with increasing pressure and decreasing temperature; the effective diffusion coefficients decrease initially and then increase with increasing pressure; and the density of the CO2 -disolved brines increases with decreasing CO2 pressure in the CO2 dissolution process. The aqueous CO2 concentration profiles obtained by the chemical potential gradient model are considerably different from those obtained by the concentration gradient model, which shows the importance of considering non-ideality, especially when the pressure is high.JI YuanHui JI XiaoYan LU XiaoHua TU YongMing 2013Science China Chemistry2013,56,6:1

8Reductive dechlorination of polychlorinated biphenyls is coupled to nitrogen fixation by a legume-rhizobium symbiosis显示文摘Chlorinated persistent organic pollutants, including polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs), represent a particularly serious environmental problem and human health risk worldwide. Leguminous plants and their symbiotic bacteria(rhizobia) are important components of the biogeochemical cycling of nitrogen in both agricultural and natural ecosystems. However, there have been relatively few detailed studies of the remediation of PCB-contaminated soils by legume-rhizobia symbionts. Here we report for the first time evidence of the reductive dechlorination of 2,4,4′-trichlorobiphenyl(PCB 28) by an alfalfa-rhizobium nitrogen fixing symbiont. Alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) inoculated with wild-type Sinorhizobium meliloti had significantly larger biomass and PCB 28 accumulation than alfalfa inoculated with the nitrogenase negative mutant rhizobium Sm Y. Dechlorination products of PCB 28, 2,4′-dichlorobiphenyl(PCB 8), and the emission of chloride ion(Cl-) were also found to decrease significantly in the ineffective nodules infected by the mutant strain Sm Y. We therefore hypothesize that N2-fixation by the legume-rhizobium symbiont is coupled with the reductive dechlorination of PCBs within the nodules. 10In Situ Formation of LiF-Rich Carbon Interphase on Silicon Particles for Cycle-Stable Battery Anodes显示文摘Silicon(Si)is a potential high-capacity anode material for the next-generation lithium-ion battery with high energy density.However,Si anodes suff er from severe interfacial chemistry issues,such as side reactions at the electrode/electrolyte interface,leading to poor electrochemical cycling stability.Herein,we demonstrate the fabrication of a conformal fl uorine-containing carbon(FC)layer on Si particles(Si-FC)and its in situ electrochemical conversion into a LiF-rich carbon layer above 1.5 V(vs.Li^(+)/Li).The as-formed LiF-rich carbon layer not only isolates the active Si and electrolytes,leading to the suppression of side reactions,but also induces the formation of a robust solid-electrolyte interface(SEI),leading to the stable interfacial chemistry of as-designed Si-FC particles.The Si-FC electrode has a high initial Coulombic effi ciency(CE)of 84.8%and a high reversible capacity of 1450 mAh/g at 0.4 C(1000 mA/g)for 300 cycles.In addition,a hybrid electrode consisting of 85 wt%graphite and 15 wt%Si-FC,and mass 2.3 mg/cm^(2) loading delivers a high areal capacity of 2.0 mAh/cm^(2) and a high-capacity retention of 93.2%after 100 cycles,showing the prospects for practical use.Yang Ni Shuibin Tu Renmin Zhan Zhao Cai Xiaohong Wang Yongming Sun 2023Transactions of Tianjin University2023,29,2:0
11Circumventing chemo-mechanical failure of Sn foil battery anode by grain refinement and elaborate porosity design显示文摘Tin (Sn) metal foil is a promising anode for next-generation high-energy–density lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its high capacity and easy processibility. However, the pristine Sn foil anode suffers nonuniform alloying/dealloying reaction with lithium (Li) and huge volume variation, leading to electrode pulverization and inferior electrochemical performance. Herein, we proposed that reduced grain size and elaborate porosity design of Sn foil can circumvent the nonuniform alloy reaction and buffer the volume change during the lithiation/delithiation cycling. Experimentally, we designed a three-dimensional interconnected porous Sn (3DIP-Sn) foil by a facile chemical alloying/dealloying approach, which showed improved electrochemical performance. The enhanced structure stability of the as-fabricated 3DIP-Sn foil was verified by chemo-mechanical simulations and experimental investigation. As expected, the 3DIP-Sn foil anode revealed a long cycle lifespan of 4400 h at 0.5 mA cm^(−2) and 1 mAh cm^(−2) in Sn||Li half cells. A 3DIP-Sn||LiFePO_(4) full cell with LiFePO_(4) loading of 7.1 mg cm^(−2) exhibited stable cycling for 500 cycles with 80% capacity retention at 70 mA g^(−1). Pairing with high-loading commercial LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O_(2) (NCM622, 18.4 mg cm^(−2)) cathode, a 3DIP-Sn||NCM622 full cell delivered a high reversible capacity of 3.2 mAh cm^(−2). 12A systematic review of the impacts of exposure to micro-and nano-plastics on human tissue accumulation and health显示文摘Micro-and nano-plastics(MNPs)pollution has become a pressing global environmental issue,with growing concerns regarding its impact on human health.However,evidence on the effects of MNPs on human health remains limited.This paper reviews the three routes of human exposure to MNPs,which include ingestion,inhalation,and dermal contact.It further discusses the potential routes of translocation of MNPs in human lungs,intestines,and skin,analyses the potential impact of MNPs on the homeostasis of human organ systems,and provides an outlook on future research priorities for MNPs in human health.There is growing evidence that MNPs are present in human tissues or fluids.Lab studies,including in vivo animal models and in vitro human-derived cell cultures,revealed that MNPs exposure could negatively affect human health.MNPs exposure could cause oxidative stress,cytotoxicity,disruption of internal barriers like the intestinal,the air–blood and the placental barrier,tissue damage,as well as immune homeostasis imbalance,endocrine disruption,and reproductive and developmental toxicity.Limitedly available epidemiological studies suggest that disorders like lung nodules,asthma,and blood thrombus might be caused or exacerbated by MNPs exposure.However,direct evidence for the effects of MNPs on human health is still scarce,and future research in this area is needed to provide quantitative support for assessing the risk of MNPs to human health.Yudong Feng Chen Tu Ruijie Li Di Wu Jie Yang Yankai Xia Willie J.G.M.Peijnenburg Yongming Luo 2023Eco-Environment & Health2023,2,4:0
13Stress-Regulation Design of Lithium Alloy Electrode toward Stable Battery Cycling显示文摘Metallic tin(Sn)foil is a promising candidate anode for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)due to its metallurgical processability and high capacity.However,it suffers low initial Coulombic efficiency and inferior cycling stability due to its uneven alloying/dealloying reactions,large volume change and stress,and fast electrode structural degradation.Herein,we report an undulating LiSn electrode fabricated by a scalable two-step procedure involving mechanical lithography and chemical prelithiation of Sn foil.With the combination of experimental measurements and chemo-mechanical simulations,it was revealed the obtained undulating LiSn/Sn electrode could ensure better mechanical stability due to the pre-swelling state from Sn to Li x Sn and undulating structure of lithography in comparison with plane Sn,homogenize the electrochemical alloying/dealloying reactions due to the activated surface materials,and compensate Li loss during cycling due to the introduction of excess Li from Li_(x)Sn,thus enabling enhanced electrochemical performance.Symmetric cells consisting of undulating LiSn/Sn electrode with an active thickness of∼5 um displayed stable cycling over 1000 h at 1 mA cm^(-2) and 1 mAh cm^(-2) with a low average overpotential of<15 mV.When paired with commercial LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_(2)(NCM622)cathode with high mass loading of 15.8 mg cm^(-2),the full cell demonstrated a high capacity of 2.4 mAh cm^(-2) and outstanding cycling stability with 84.9% capacity retention at 0.5 C after 100 cycles.This work presents an advanced LiSn electrode with stress-regulation design toward high-performance LIBs,and sheds light on the rational electrode design and processing of other high-capacity lithium alloy anodes.Chunhao Li Shuibin Tu Xin Ai Siwei Gui Zihe Chen Wenyu Wang Xiaoxiao Liu Yuchen Tan Hui Yang Yongming Sun 2023Energy & Environmental Materials2023,6,1:0

15Spatial interpolation of orchard soil pH using soil type and planting duration as auxiliary information显示文摘Intensified field management in orcahrds has resulted in significant and widespread acidification in the soils.However,effectively mapping the spatial patterns of soil pH aiming to support ecological management is impeded by its large variotions across soil types and planting durations.Kriging methods were used to integrate soil type and planting duration information for effective mapping of orchard soil pH in a case study in orchards of the Northeast Jiaodong Peninsula,East China.A total o f 1472 surface soil samples were collected,and the planting duration o f each sampled orchard was acquired to generate a planting duration map via Voronoi tessellations.The performance of five kriging methods was compared,namely,ordinary kriging(OK),OK combined with soil type(OK_ST),OK combined with planting duration(OK_PD),cokriging combined with soil type and planting duration(OCK_STPD),and OK combined with soil type and planting duration(OK_STPD).Results showed that soil pH declined significantly with increasing planting duration and exhibited moderate spatial variability over the study area.Soil type and planting duration both had significant influence on the spatial distribution of soil pH.The OCK_STPD and OK_STPD methods showed better prediction efficiency than OK,OK_ST,or OK_PD.With regard to the predicted maps of soil pH,the OCK_STPD and OK_STPD methods highly reflected local variations associated with soil type and planting duration,but the OK method was poorly representative.Categorical soil type and planting duration information may be used as ancillary information to improve the mapping quality o f orchard soil pH.The OCK_STPD and OK_STPD methods were practical and efficient methods for interpolating orchard soil pH in the study area.The resultant high-quality soil pH maps can contribute to improved site-specific management in the orchards.Chuancheng FU Haibo ZHANG Chen TU Lianzhen LI Xinghua LIU Yongming LUO 2020Pedosphere2020,30,5:0
