1Mechanistic insights into sequestration of U(VI) toward magnetic biochar: Batch, XPS and EXAFS techniques显示文摘The magnetic iron oxide(Fe_3O_4) nanoparticles stabilized on the biochar were synthesized by fast pyrolysis of Fe(II)-loaded hydrophyte biomass under N_2 conditions. The batch experiments showed that magnetic biochar presented a large removal capacity(54.35 mg/g)at pH 3.0 and 293 K. The reductive co-precipitation of U(VI) to U(IV) by magnetic biochar was demonstrated according to X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray absorption near edge structure analysis. According to extended X-ray absorption fine structure analysis, the occurrence of U-Fe and U-U shells indicated that high effective removal of uranium was primarily inner-sphere coordination and then reductive co-precipitation at low pH. 2Design Property Network-Based Change Propagation Prediction Approach for Mechanical Product Development显示文摘Design changes are unavoidable during mechanical product development; whereas the avalanche propagation of design change imposes severely negative impacts on the design cycle. To improve the validity of the change propagation prediction, a mathematical programming model is presented to predict the change propagation impact quantitatively. As the foundation of change propagation prediction, a design change analysis model(DCAM)is built in the form of design property network. In DCAM,the connections of the design properties are identified as the design specification, which conform to the small-world network theory. To quantify the change propagation impact, change propagation intensity(CPI) is defined as a quantitative and much more objective assessment metric.According to the characteristics of DCAM, CPI is defined and indicated by four assessment factors: propagation likelihood, node degree, long-chain linkage, and design margin. Furthermore, the optimal change propagation path is searched with the evolutionary ant colony optimization(ACO) algorithm, which corresponds to the minimized maximum of accumulated CPI. In practice, the change impact of a gear box is successfully analyzed. 3Biodegradation of dissolved organic carbon in soil extracts and leachates from a temperate forest stand and its relationship to ultraviolet absorbance显示文摘The amount and biodegradability of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in forest floors can contribute to carbon sequestration in soils and the release of CO 2-C from soil to the atmosphere.There is only limited knowledge about the biodegradation of DOC in soil extracts and leachates due to the limitations inherent in degradation experiments.Differences in the biodegradation of DOC were studied in forest soil extracts using cold and hot water and 4 mmol/L CaCl 2 solution and in soil leachates sampled under different conditions over a wide range of DOC concentrations.From these results,we developed a simple and rapid method for determining the biodegradable organic C in forest floors.The hot water extracts and CaCl 2 extracts after CH 3 Cl fumigation contained higher concentrations of biodegradable organic C than the cold water extracts and CaCl 2 extracts before fumigation,with rapid DOC degradation occurring 24-48 h after incubation with an inoculum,followed by slow DOC degradation till 120-168 h into the incubation.During a 7-d incubation with an inoculum,the variation in DOC degradation in the different soil extracts was consistent with the change in special UV absorbance at 254 nm.Relatively higher levels of biodegradable organic C were detected in soil leachates from the forest canopy than in forest gaps between April and October 2008 (P <0.05).Relatively lower concentrations of DOC and biodegradable organic C were observed in soil leachates from N-fertilized plots during the growing season compared with the control,with the exception of the plot treated with KNO 3 at a rate of 45 kg N ha 1 a 1.Around 77.4% to 96.3% of the variability in the biodegradable organic C concentrations in the forest floors could be accounted for by the initial DOC concentration and UV absorbance at 254 nm.Compared with the conventional inoculum incubation method,the method of analyzing UV absorbance at 254 nm is less time consuming and requires a much smaller sample volume.The results suggest that the regression models obtained using the initial DOC concentration and UV absorbance can provide a rapid,simple and reliable method for determining the biodegradable organic C content,especially in field studies involving relatively large numbers of samples.XU XingKai LUO XianBaot JIANG SongHua XU ZhongJun 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,8:7

6Cloning, expression and protective immunity evalua-tion of the full-length cDNA encoding succinate dehydrogenase iron-sulfur protein of Schistosoma japonicum显示文摘1071-bp fragment was obtained from the Schistosoma japonicum (Chinese strain) adult cDNA library after the 3′ and 5′ ends of the incomplete expression sequence tag (EST) of succinate dehydrogenase iron-sulfur protein of Schistosoma japonicum (SjSDISP) were amplified by the anchored PCR with 2 pairs of primers designed according to the EST of SjSDISP and the sequence of multiclone sites of the library vector. Sequence analysis indicated that the fragment was a full-length cDNA with a complete open reading frame (ORF), encoding 278 amino acid residues. The fragment was cloned into prokary- otic expression vector pQE30, and subsequently sequenced and expressed in Escherichia coli. SDS-PAGE and Western-blot analyses showed that the recombinant protein was about 32 kD and could be recognized by the polyclonal antisera from rabbits immunized with Schistosoma japonicum adult worm antigen. Compared with the FCA controls, mice vaccinated with rSjSDISP (test) or rSjGST (posi- tive control) all revealed high levels of specific antibody and significant reduction in worm burden, liver eggs per gram (LEPG), fecal eggs per gram (FEPG) and intrauterine eggs. These results suggest that SjSDISP may be a novel and partially protective vaccine candidate against schistosomiasis. 7The characterization of auditory brainstem response(ABR) waveforms: A study in tree shrews(Tupaia belangeri)显示文摘To characterize the patterns of ABR waves in tree shrews, we must understand the hearing sensitivity and auditory function of healthy adult tree shrews. Fifteen tree shrews(30 ears) were stimulated with clicks and tone-pips at 11 different frequencies from 1 to 60 kHz. The ABR waves were recorded and analyzed. The ABR consisted of five to seven positive waves in the first 10 ms after a click stimulus, and the average hearing threshold of component III was 27.86 ± 3.78 dB SPL. Wave III was the largest and most clear. The ABR threshold was related to the tone-pip sitmulus by a 'U' shaped curve. The sensitive frequency was approximately 8 kHz in tree shrews. The latencies systematically decreased with increasing stimulus frequencies. The ABR amplitudes of wave III increased as the sound pressure level increased. 8Soil moisture estimation based on BeiDou Bl interference signal analysis显示文摘BeiDou Navigation Satellite System reflectometry(BDS-R) is an emerging area of BD(BeiDou) applications that uses multipath reflected signals in microwave remote sensing.Soil moisture estimation is one of the potential important applications of BDS-R.This study aims to investigate the feasibility of soil moisture estimation based on BD B1 band interference signals,which are composed of direct and reflected BD signals and can be readily captured using low-cost commercial BDS receivers.In this paper,a theoretical background for soil estimation from interference signals was introduced,and an analysis of field experimental data was conducted.First,a cosine model for the interference signal power was built,and a non-uniform power spectrum analysis was performed on the received interference signals to determine its main frequency.Then,a least squares curve fitting was applied on the interference signal power to extract its phase.The relationship between the soil moisture and the phase was then determined.Two months of experimental data were collected at BaoXie,Wuhan and analyzed for further inversion.Experimental results show that the phase of the interference signals increases with the increase of soil moisture.The correlation coefficient between the phase and the in-situ soil moisture value is approximately 0.8.Finally,the relationship between the phase and soil moisture is employed to estimate soil moisture.Results show that using BDS-R to measure soil moisture is feasible,which demonstrates a great potential of new application of the BD system.YAN SongHua ZHAO Fen CHEN NengCheng GONG JianYa 2016Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,12:3
9Marsdenia tenacissima injection induces the apoptosis of prostate cancer by regulating the AKT/GSK3β/STAT3 signaling axis显示文摘Marsdenia tenacissima injection,a standard Marsdenia tenacissima extract(MTE),has been approved as an adjuvant therapeutic agent for various cancers.Our previous study showed that MTE inhibited the proliferation and metastasis of prostate cancer(PCa)cells.However,the underlying mechanisms and active ingredients of MTE against PCa were not completely understood.This study revealed that MTE induced significant decreases in cell viability and clonal growth in PCa cells.In addition,MTE induced the apoptosis of DU145 cells by reducing the mitochondrial membrane potential and increasing the expression of Cleaved Caspase 3/7,Cyt c,and Bax.In vivo,DU145 xenografted NOD-SCID mice treated with MTE showed significantly decreased tumor size.TUNEL staining and Western blot confirmed the pro-apoptotic effects of MTE.Network pharmacology analysis collected 196 ingredients of MTE linked to 655 potential targets,and 709 PCa-associated targets were retrieved,from which 149 overlapped targets were screened out.Pathway enrichment analysis showed that the HIF-1,PI3K-AKT,and ErbB signaling pathways were closely related to tumor apoptosis.Western blot results confirmed that MTE increased the expression of p-AKT^(Ser473) and p-GSK3β^(Ser9),and decreased the expression of p-STAT3^(Tyr705) in vitro and in vivo.A total of 13 compounds in MTE were identified by HPLC-CAD-QTOF-MS/MS and UPLCQTOF-MS/MS.Molecular docking analysis indicated that six compounds may interact with AKT,GSK3β,and STAT3.In conclusion,MTE induces the endogenous mitochondrial apoptosis of PCa by regulating the AKT/GSK3β/STAT3 signaling axis,resulting in inhibition of PCa growth in vitro and in vivo.LI Xiaolan HE Songhua LIANG Wei ZHANG Weiquan CHEN Xin LI Qiaofeng YANG Xin LIU Yanying ZHU Dan LI Li LIU Buming SU Zhiheng CHEN Jie GUO Hongwei 2023Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2023,21,2:2
10Intercalation and hybrid heterostructure integration of two-dimensional atomic crystals with functional organic semiconductor molecules显示文摘Van der Waals(vdW)integration affords semiconductor heterostructures without constrains of lattice matching and opens up a new realm of functional devices by design.A particularly interesting approach is the electrochemical intercalation of two-dimensional(2D)atomic crystal and formation of superlattices,which can provide scalable production of novel vdW heterostructures.However,this approach has been limited to the use of organic cations with non-functional aliphatic chains,therefore failed to take the advantage of the vast potentials in molecular functionalities(electronic,photonic,magnetic,etc.).Here we report the integration of 2D crystal(MoS_(2),WS_(2),highly oriented pyrolytic graphite(HOPG),WSe_(2) as model systems)with electrochemically inert organic molecules that possess semiconducting characteristics(including perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride(PTCDA),pentacene and fullerene),through on-chip electrochemical intercalation.An unprecedented long-range spatial feature of intercalation has been achieved,which allowed facile assembly of a vertical MoS_(2)-PTCDA-Si junction.The intercalated heterostructure shows significant modulation of the lateral transport,and leads to a molecular tunneling characteristic at the vertical direction.The general intercalation of charge neutral and functional molecules defines a versatile platform of inorganic/organic hybrid vdW heterostructures with significantly extended molecular functional building blocks,holding great promise in future design of nano/quantum devices.Wen He Han Zang Songhua Cai Zhangyan Mu Cheng Liu Mengning Ding Peng Wang Xinran Wang 2020Nano Research2020,13,11:2
11Photochemical surface modification of poly(arylsulfone) ultrafiltration membrane and covalent immobilization of enzyme显示文摘The sensitivity of poly(arylsulfone)(PSf) for UV irradiation in different solvents(water and ethanol) was investigated. It is confirmed that acrylic acid(AA) and acrylamide(AAm) are grafted only onto the surface of the membrane instead of the interior by FTIR and scanning electron microscope(SEM). The membrane performance(Δ J/J 0 and contact angle θ ) after photografting was studied. In the range of conditions used, the grafting yield increases with irradiation time and monomer concentration growing. 12Active anticorrosion and self-healing coatings:A review with focus on multi-action smart coating strategies显示文摘The development of smart coatings with potential for active anticorrosion and self-healing protection of metals is essential for long-term performance of metallic structures in aggressive chemical environments.Presently,emphasis has been placed on the development of advanced smart coatings for corrosion protection in different applications.Innovative multifunctional coatings with fascinating stimuliresponsive functionalities are considered“smart”.The stimuli-responsive functionalities of these smart coatings when properly harnessed result in a class of coatings with inherent autonomous control of corrosion.Fundamentally,when metals are exposed to aggressive environments,occurrences at the metalsolution interface cause environmental changes.These changes can be controlled when triggers from external environment set off active components of smart coating,thereby enhancing coating’s life and functionality.Common triggers include the availability of moisture,concentration of chloride ion,p H gradient,mechanical damage,impact,fatigue,light,redox activity and temperature.In this review,recent technological trends in active anticorrosion and self-healing coatings as functional routes for metal protection are summarized,stimuli responsiveness and mechanisms of inhibition are discussed,and recent multi-action protective systems are particularly focused on.Inime Ime Udoh Hongwei Shi Enobong Felix Daniel Jianyang Li Songhua Gu Fuchun Liu En-Hou Han 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,21:2
