3Urimem,a membrane that can store urinary proteins simply and economically,makes the large-scale storage of clinical samples possible显示文摘By nature,biomarker is the measurable change associated with a physiological or pathophysiological process.Unlike blood which has mechanisms to minimize changes and to keep the internal environment homeostatic,urine is more likely to reflect changes of the body and is a better biomarker source.Because of its potential in biomarker discovery,urinary proteins should be preserved comprehensively as the duration of the patients’corresponding medical records.Here,we propose a method to adsorb urinary proteins onto a membrane we named Urimem.This simple and inexpensive method requires minimal sample handling,uses no organic solvents,and is environmentally friendly.Urine samples were filtered through the membrane,and urinary proteins were adsorbed onto the membrane.The proteins on the membrane were dried and stored in a vacuum bag,which keeps the protein pattern faithfully preserved.The membrane may even permit storage at room temperature for weeks.Using this simple and inexpensive method,it is possible to begin preserving urine samples from all consenting people.Thus,medical research especially biomarker research can be conducted more economically.Even more objective large-scale prospective studies will be possible.This method has the potential to change the landscape of medical research and medical practice.JIA LuLu LIU XueJiao LIU Liu LI MingXi GAO YouHe 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,3:19
4Disentangling the effects of topography and space on the distributions of dominant species in a subtropical forest显示文摘Topography and space are two important factors determining plant species assemblages in forest communities.Quantification of the contribution of these two factors in determining species distribution helps us to evaluate their relative importance in determining species assemblages.This study aims to disentangle the effect of topography and space on the distributions of 14 dominant species in a subtropical mixed forest.Spearman correlation analysis and the torustranslation test were used to test the species–habitat associations.Variation partitioning was used to quantify the relative contributions of topography and space at three sampling scales and three life stages.Correlation analyses and torus-translation tests showed species abundance was mostly correlated with topographic wetness index,vertical distance from the channel network and convexity.Variation partitioning showed that pure topography,pure space and spatially structured topography explained about 2.1 %,41.2 % and 13.8 %of the variation in species distributions,respectively.For nine species,total topography fractions peaked in 20 m quadrats.For ten species,the pure space fractions peaked in 50 m quadrats.For many species,the total topography fraction andthe pure space fraction were larger for the most abundant life stages,which reflected the importance of sampling effect.However,some cases did not follow this trend suggesting that the effects of ecological processes such as habitat filtering,density dependence or dispersal limitation may exceed the sampling effects.In conclusion,we found that spatially structured topography and pure space primarily shaped the distribution of dominant tree species.Furthermore,their effects were both scale- and life stage-dependent.Qinggang Wang Yaozhan Xu Zhijun Lu Dachuan Bao Yili Guo Junmeng Lu Kuihan Zhang Haibo Liu Hongjie Meng Xiujuan Qiao Handong Huang Mingxi Jiang 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,35:16
5Density dependence and habitat preference shape seedling survival in a subtropical forest in central China显示文摘Aims seedlings are vulnerable to many kinds of fatal abiotic and biotic agents,and examining the causes of seedling dynamics can help understand mechanisms of species coexistence.To disentangle the relative importance of neighborhood densities,habitat factors and phylogenetic relatedness on focal seedling survival,we monitored the survival of 5306 seedlings of 104 species>15 months.We address the following questions:(i)How do neighborhood densities,habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness affect seedling survival?What is the relative importance of conspecific densities,habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness to seedling survival?(ii)Does the importance of the neighborhood densities,habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness vary among growth forms,leaf habits or dispersal modes?specially,does the conspecific negative density dependence inhibit tree and decidu-ous seedlings more compared with shrub and evergreen species?Does density dependence affect the wind and animal-dispersed species equally?Methods We established 135 census stations to monitor seedling dynamics in a 25-ha subtropical forest plot in central China.Conspecific and heterospecific seedling density in the 1-m2 seedling plot and adult basal area within a 20-m radius provided neighborhood density var-iables.mean elevation,convexity and aspect of every 5-×5-m grid with seedling plots were used to quantify habitat characteristics.We calculated the relative average phylodiversity between focal seed-ling and heterospecific neighbors to quantify the species related-ness in the neighborhood.Eight candidate generalized linear mixed models with binominal error distribution were used to compare the relative importance of these variables to seedling survival.akaike’s information criteria were used to identify the most parsimonious models.Important Findingsat the community level,both the neighborhood densities and phylogenetic relatedness were important to seedling survival.We found negative effects of increasing conspecific seedlings,which suggested the existence of species-specific density-dependent mortality.Phylodiversity of heterospecific neighbors was negatively related to survival of focal seedlings,indicating similar habitat preference shared among phylogenetically closely related species may drive seedling survival.The relative importance of neighborhood densities,habitat variables and phylogenetic relatedness varied among ecological guilds.Conspecific densities had significant negative effect for deciduous and wind-dispersed species,and marginally significant for tree seedlings>10 cm tall and animal-dispersed species.Habitat variables had limited effects on seedling survival,and only elevation was related to the sur-vival of evergreen species in the best-fit model.We conclude that both negative density-dependent mortality and habitat preference reflected by the phylogenetic relatedness shape the species coex-istence at seedling stage in this forest.Junmeng Lu Daniel J.Johnson Xiujuan Qiao Zhijun Lu Qinggang Wang Mingxi Jiang 2015Journal of Plant Ecology2015,8,6:12

7Thermal regime transition in eastern North China and its tectonic implication显示文摘The pre-Cenozoic formation in the Cenozoic depositon centres in eastern North China reached its maximum temperature at present, and the earlier paleo-temperature, therefore, has been overprinted, but the record of paleo-temperature by the vitrinite reflectance (Ro) has not been overprinted by the later thermal events in the pre-Cenozoic formation located in the uplift or in the Paleozoic-Mesozoic residual basins out of the Cenozoic depositon centres. The reconstruction of paleo-temperature gradient and paleo-heat flow, based on the vitrinite reflectance in the Paleozoic and the Mesozoic structural layers in boreholes, indicated that the eastern North China was characterized by much higher paleo-temperature gradient (40-55℃/km) and heat flow (>80 mW/m2) during the Middle-Late Mesozoic than those in the Early Mesozoic and at present. The higher paleo-heat flow during the Middle-Late Mesozoic implies that the thickness of the 'thermal' lithosphere at that time was just 50-55 km, it had been much thinned relative to the thickness (135-148 km) at the Early Mesozoic. 8Kallistatin,a new and reliable biomarker for the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis显示文摘Kallistatin,which protects organs and cells against inflammation,fibrosis and oxidative stress,is mainly synthesized and secreted in liver.However,its relationship to human liver disease remains unclear.The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between serum kallistatin and clinical evidence of both cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and to determine if serum kallistatin levels could be used as a diagnostic indicator of hepatic health status,especially human liver cirrhosis(LC).Our cohort consisted of 115 patients with clinically proven liver fibrosis(LF),LC,or HCC by liver biopsies,and 31 healthy controls(CON).Serum kallistatin levels were quantified by ELISA.Results of the present study demonstrated that irrespective of the underlying etiology,serum kallistatin levels were significantly lower in the LF/LC group when compared with the CON group.A decrease in serum kallistatin levels appeared to reflect the extent of cirrhosis,with the lowest levels associated with higher grades of cirrhosis.Patients with LC had a noticeable correlation between serum kallistatin levels and other serum biochemical indicators.The area under the curve(AUC) for LC,viral liver cirrhosis(VLC)and alcoholic liver cirrhosis(ALC) was 0.845,0.757 and 0.931,respectively.In conclusion,our findingsdemonstrated that kallistatin,a plasma protein produced by the liver,can be a useful and reliable diagnostic indicator of hepatic health status,especially for LC.Zhiyun Cheng Yinghui Lv Suqiu Pang Ruyu Bai Mingxi Wang Shuyu Lin Tianwen Xu Duncan Spalding Nagy Habib Ruian Xu 2015Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2015,5,3:7
9Preparation and evaluation of poly(L-histidine) based pH-sensitive micelles for intracellular delivery of doxorubicin against MCF-7/ADR cells显示文摘In this study, a p H-sensitive micelle self-assembled from poly(L-histidine) based triblock copolymers of poly(ethylene glycol)–poly(D,L-lactide)–poly(L-histidine)(mPEG-PLA-PHis) was prepared and used as the intracellular doxorubicin(Dox) delivery for cancer chemotherapy. Dox was loaded into the micelles by thin-film hydration method and a Box–Behnken design for three factors at three levels was used to optimize the preparations. The optimized mPEG-PLA-Phis/Dox micelles exhibited good encapsulation efficiency of 91.12%,a mean diameter of 45 nm and narrow size distribution with polydispersity index of 0.256.In vitro drug release studies demonstrated that Dox was released from the micelles in a p Hdependent manner. Furthermore, the cellular evaluation of Dox loaded micelles displayed that the micelles possessed high antitumor activity in vitro with an IC50 of 35.30 μg/ml against MCF-7/ADR cells. The confocal microscopy and flow cytometry experiments indicated that m PEG-PLA-Phis micelles mediated efficient cytoplasmic delivery of Dox with the aid of poly(Lhistidine) mediated endosomal escape. In addition, blank m PEG-PLA-Phis micelles were shown to be nontoxic to MCF-7/ADR cells even at a high concentration of 200 μg/ml. 11Zn-doping enhances the photoluminescence and stability of PbS quantum dots for in vivo high-resolution imaging in the NIR-II window显示文摘Lead sulfide(PbS)quantum dots(QDs)are important near infrared(NIR)luminescent materials with tunable and strong emission covering a broad NIR region.However,their optical properties are quite sensitive to air,water,and high temperature due to the surface oxidation,thus limiting their applications in optoelectronic devices and biological imaging.Herein,a cation-doping strategy is presented to make a series of high-quality Zn-doped PbS QDs with strong emission covering whole second near-infrared window(NIR-II,1,000-1,700 nm).First-principle calculations confirmed that Zn dopants formed dopant states and decreased the recombination energy gap of host PbS.Notably,the Zn dopants significantly improved the quantum yield,photoluminescence lifetime and thermal stability of PbS QDs.Moreover,the PEGylated Zn-doped PbS QDs emitting in the NIR-llb window(1,500-1,700 nm)realized the noninvasive imaging of cerebral vascular of mouse with high resolution,being able to distinguish blood capillary.This material not only provides a new tool for deep tissue fluorescence imaging,but is also promising for the development of other NIR related devices.Xiulei Shi Song Chen Meng-Yao Luo Biao Huang Guozhen Zhang Ran Cui Mingxi Zhang 2020Nano Research2020,13,8:5

13Specific Recognition of Breast Cancer Cells In Vitro Using Near Infrared-Emitting Long-Persistence Luminescent Zn_3Ga_2Ge_2O_(10):Cr^(3+)Nanoprobes显示文摘In this paper, near-infrared emitting long-persistence luminescent Zn3Ga2Ge2O10:Cr3?(ZGG) nanoparticles with diameters of 30–100 nm and bright luminescence were prepared by a sol–gel synthesis method. After the surface amination, the nanoparticles were further bioconjugated with breast cancer-specific monoclonal antibody(anti-Ep CAM) to form ZGG-Ep CAM nanoprobes which can specifically target breast cancer cell lines(MCF7) in vitro. The results of in vitro images show that the luminescence signals from the cells treated with ZGG-Ep CAM nanoprobes are stronger than those from cells treated with ZGG-unconjugated antibody, indicating that the prepared ZGG-Ep CAM nanoprobes possessed excellent specific recognition capability. Furthermore, due to their long afterglow properties, the imaging could persist more than 1 h. Therefore, these nanoprobes could not only provide a high specificity detection method for cancer cells but also realize the long-time monitoring. 14STUDIES ON HORIZONTAL COMPETITION AMONG HOMOGENOUS RETAILERS THROUGH AGENT-BASED SIMULATION显示文摘This paper adopts agent-based simulation to study the horizontal competition among homogenous price-setting retailers in a one-to-many supply chain (a supply chain consists of one supplier and multiple retailers). We model the supplier and retailers as agents, and design their behavioral rules respectively. The results show that although the agents learn individually based on their own experiences, the system converges asymptotically to near Nash equilibrium steady states. When analyzing the results, we first discuss the properties of these steady states. 15Co-delivery of resveratrol and docetaxel via polymeric micelles to improve the treatment of drug-resistant tumors显示文摘Co-delivery of anti-cancer drugs is promising to improve the efficacy of cancer treatment.This study was aiming to investigate the potential of concurrent delivery of resveratrol(RES)and docetaxel(DTX)via polymeric nanocarriers to treat breast cancer.To this end,methoxyl poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(D,L-lactide)copolymer(mPEG-PDLA)was prepared and characterized using FTIR and 1H NMR,and their molecular weights were determined by GPC.Isobologram analysis and combination index calculation were performed to find the optimal ratio between RES and DTX to against human breast adenocarcinoma cell line(MCF-7 cells).Subsequently,RES and DTX were loaded in the mPEG-PDLA micelles simultaneously,and the morphology,particle size distribution,in vitro release,pharmacokinetic profiles,as well as cytotoxicity to the MCF-7 cells were characterized.IC50 of RES and DTX in MCF-7 cells were determined to be 23.0μg/ml and 10.4μg/ml,respectively,while a lower IC50 of 4.8μg/ml of the combination of RES and DTX was obtained.The combination of RES and DTX at a ratio of 1:1(w/w)generated stronger synergistic effect than other ratios in the MCF-7 cells.RES and DTX loaded mPEG-PDLA micelles exhibited prolonged release profiles,and enhanced cytotoxicity in vitro against MCF-7 cells.The AUC(0→t)of DTX and RES in mPEG-PDLA micelles after i.v.administration to rats were 3.0-fold and 1.6-fold higher than that of i.v.injections of the individual drugs.These findings indicated that the co-delivery of RES and DTX using mPEG-PDLA micelles could have better treatment of tumors.Xiong Guo Zhiyue Zhao Dawei Chen Mingxi Qiao Feng Wan Dongmei Cun Yi Sun Mingshi Yang 2019Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2019,14,1:4

18Securing Multicast Route Discovery for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks显示文摘This paper presents SMRAN, a novel securing multicast route discovery scheme for mobile ad hoc networks. The scheme relies entirely on hash chains based one-time signature mechanism, HORSEI, with very efficient signing and verifying, and we do this by improving the HORSE protocol through the introduction of interme- diate hash joints. The main purpose of SMRAN is to provide source authentication for multicast routing discovery messages in mobile ad hoc networks. SMRAN will construct multicast tree with authentica- tion constrains in ad hoc networks. The performance measure of SMRAN is evaluated using simulator NS2. 19Nonlinear generation and propagation of sum frequency and difference frequency acoustic wares within a two-dimensional rectangular duct显示文摘An approach based on partial wave theory and second-order approtimation tech nique is described for analyzing nonlinear generation and propagation of sum frequency and difference frequency acoustic waves (SDAWs) within a two-dimensional rectangular duct, which arise from the cross-interaction of longitudinal partial waves of two fundamental modes with different frequencies. It is found that SDAW holds the effects of cumulative growth once two fundamental modes with different frequencies have the same phase velocities, and that the sym metric characteristics of SDAW field patterns are dependent of that of two fundamental modes.With initial condition of excitation and matching condition of phase, the SDAW analytical expression has also been obtained in the present paper.
