| 5 | Hybrid Differential Evolution for Estimation of Kinetic Parameters for Biochemical Systems显示文摘Determination of the optimal model parameters for biochemical systems is a time consuming iterative process. In this study, a novel hybrid differential evolution (DE) algorithm based on the differential evolution technique and a local search strategy is developed for solving kinetic parameter estimation problems. By combining the merits of DE with Gauss-Newton method, the proposed hybrid approach employs a DE algorithm for identifying promising regions of the solution space followed by use of Gauss-Newton method to determine the optimum in the identified regions. Some well-known benchmark estimation problems are utilized to test the efficiency and the robustness of the proposed algorithm compared to other methods in literature. The comparison indicates that the present hybrid algorithm outperforms other estimation techniques in terms of the global searching ability and the convergence speed. Additionally, the estimation of kinetic model parameters for a feed batch fermentor is carried out to test the applicability of the proposed algorithm. | 8 | Nerve transfer with 3D-printed branch nerve conduits显示文摘Background:Nerve transfer is an important clinical surgical procedure for nerve repair by the coaptation of a healthy donor nerve to an injured nerve.Usually,nerve transfer is performed in an end-to-end manner,which will lead to functional loss of the donor nerve.In this study,we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of 3D-printed branch nerve conduits in nerve transfer.Methods:Customized branch conduits were constructed using gelatine-methacryloyl by 3D print-ing.The nerve conduits were characterized both in vitro and in vivo.The efficacy of 3D-printed branch nerve conduits in nerve transfer was evaluated in rats through electrophysiology testing and histological evaluation.Results:The results obtained showed that a single nerve stump could form a complex nerve network in the 3D-printed multibranch conduit.A two-branch conduit was 3D printed for transferring the tibial nerve to the peroneal nerve in rats.In this process,the two branches were connected to the distal tibial nerve and peroneal nerve.It was found that the two nerves were successfully repaired with functional recovery.Conclusions:It is implied that the two-branch conduit could not only repair the peroneal nerve but also preserve partial function of the donor tibial nerve.This work demonstrated that 3D-printed branch nerve conduits provide a potential method for nerve transfer. | Jing Zhang Jie Tao Hao Cheng Haofan Liu Wenbi Wu Yinchu Dong Xuesong Liu Maling Gou Siming Yang Jianguo Xu | 2022 | Burns & Trauma2022,10,1: | 0 |
| 9 | An Optimized Constraint Decomposition Method in Concurrent Engineering显示文摘In order to facilitate solution, a complex problem is normally decomposed into many small sub-problems during product development process. Teams are formed to resolve each sub-problem. The original problem is resolved from solutions of sub-problems. Ideally, sub-problems are not only mutually independent but also inherent parameters of original problem. Solution of original problem can be directly derived from the collection of solutions from simplified sub-problems. In practice, the degree of interdependency is indeed reduced, sub-problems are neither totally independent nor all inherent parameters of original problem. This paper discusses team coordination under this condition and design solution from each team, which not only satisfies total requirements but also is an optimal one.
