1Characterization of organic matter in total suspended particles by thermodesorption and pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry显示文摘The organic matter in tropospheric aerosol plays an important role in atmospheric physical and chemical processes. The bulk of organic matter, representing a significant proportion of the total suspended particulate (TSP) mass, is bound to polymeric material whose structure and properties are largely unknown. Here we used thermodesorption gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Td- GC/MS) to study organic compounds of low molecular mass and pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) to characterize the chemical structure of macromolecules in TSP samples collected in different seasons from different sites in Guangzhou. n-Alkanes, fatty acids and nitriles were the predominant compounds in the thermodesorption products, whereas aromatics, fatty acids, nitriles and n-alkanes/alkenes were the major compounds in the pyrolysates. The results indicated that aromatics were main units in macromolecules. The fatty acids and nitriles formed from carboxylic ammonium salts were detected in both thermodesorption products and pyrolysates at a certain concentration, indicating the importance of these compounds in TSP formation. The TSP source mainly determined the occurrence of compounds in samples from urban, suburban and forest sites, whereas the TSP source and formation process maybe controlled the seasonal variation in compounds detected. 3Composition and source of saccharides in aerosols in Guangzhou,China显示文摘The total suspended particles (TSP) collected during 2002 to 2003 in Wushan district and Liwan district in Guangzhou were analyzed for the saccharide compositions using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and N,O-bis-(trimethylsilye)trifluoroacetamide (BSTFA) derivatization. The results showed that the saccharides were composed of anhydrosaccharides consisting of levoglucosan, mannosan, galactosan and 1,6-anhydro-β-glucofuranose, and primary saccharides with sucrose as the most abundant, followed by αand β-glucose, αand β-fructose, mycose, and saccharide polyols. The highest saccharide levels occurred in autumn. 5The underappreciated role of fugitive VOCs in ozone formation and health risk assessment emitted from seven typical industries in China显示文摘Fugitive emission from industrial sources may result in ozone formation and health risk,while the exact contribution of this source remains incompletely understood.In this study,emission characteristics,ozone formation potential(OFP)and health risk of fugitive VOCs in7 representative industries were investigated.Chemical material industry was the dominant contributor to VOCs of fugitive emission in comparison with other industries.The OFP of VOCs from fugitive emission was in the range of 1.45×10^(3)-3.98×10^(5)μg/m^(3),with a higher value than that of organized emission in seven industries except for the coking industry and the chemical material industry,suggesting that fugitive VOCs should be taken into account while developing control strategies.Acetaldehyde,m,p-xylene,n-nonane,ethylene,vinyl chloridethe and other high OFP-contributing species were the major reactive species that should be targeted.Health risk assessment investigated non-cancer and cancer risks of fugitive VOCs in 7 industries were all above safe level(HR>1 and LCR>1×10^(-4)),posing remarkable health threats to human health.OVOCs were the main contributor to non-cancer risk,while halohydrocarbons and aromatics contributed most to cancer risks,posing remarkable health threat on human health.Our findings highlighted the contribution of fugitive VOCs on ozone formation and health risk was underestimated,indicating which should be considered in emission control strategies of industrial sources.Zhiling Liang Yunjiang Yu Bingbing Sun Qian Yao Xihua Lin Yongsheng Wang Jianping Zhang Yingzi Li Xuefeng Wang Zhengzheng Tang Shexia Ma 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,2:0
