1Organochlorine compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in surface sediment from Baiyangdian Lake,North China:Concentrations,sources profiles and potential risk显示文摘Organochlorine pesticides(OCPs),polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs),and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) were determined in nineteen surface sediment samples collected from Baiyangdian Lake and its inflowing river(Fuhe River) in North China.Total concentrations of OCPs,PCBs and PAHs in sediments ranged from 5.4 to 707.6 ng/g,2.3 to 197.8 ng/g,and 101.3 to 6360.5 ng/g,respectively.The levels of contaminants in Fuhe River were significantly higher than those in Baiyandian Lake.For hexachlorocyclohexane(HCHs) and dichlorodiphenytrichloroethanes(DDTs),α-HCH and p,p-DDT were predominant isomers;while for PCBs,PCB 28/31,PCB 40/103,PCB 60,PCB 101,and PCB 118 were predominant congeners.Possible sources derived from historical usage for OCPs and incomplete combustion fuel,wood,and coal and exhaustion of boats or cars for PAHs.Risk assessment of sediment indicated that sediments in Fuhe River were likely to pose potential biological adverse impact.Guocheng Hu Xiaojun Luo Fengchao Li Jiayin Dai Jianyang Guo Shejun Chen Cao Hong Bixian Mai Muqi Xu 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,2:42
2A review of polybrominated diphenyl ethers and alternative brominated flame retardants in wildlife from China:Levels,trends,and bioaccumulation characteristics显示文摘Accelerated industrialization and urbanization,and unregulated disposal of waste of electric and electronic equipment(e-waste) in China have caused environmental pollution of brominated flame retardants(BFRs).This review summarized the levels,trends,and bioaccumulation characteristics of polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs) and other potential alternative BFRs including hexabromocyclododecanes(HBCDs),1,2-bis(2,4,6-dibromophenoxy) ethane(BTBPE) and decabromodiphenylethane(DBDPE) in wildlife from China.PBDE levels in wildlife from China were generally higher than those from other parts in Asia,and were comparable to those from Europe but were lower than those from North America.However,wildlife from the e-waste recycling sites in South China and East China contained much higher PBDEs compared to other reports around the world,suggesting the heavy contamination of PBDEs in these regions.The alternative BFRs were also detected in wildlife,revealing that the animals are exposed to these chemicals,in addition to PBDEs.Temporal trends indicated by levels in marine mammals from South China suggested that PBDE levels increased from the beginning of 1990s to 2000s,but decreased from the middle of 2000s,followed by relatively steady levels.In contrast,HBCDs were found to be continuously increasing from 1997 to 2007,indicating the increasing usage of HBCDs in China in recent years.Compared to PBDE profiles found in other parts,aquatic species and birds from China contained relatively higher contributions of BDE28 and 209,respectively,suggesting the possible different usage pattern of PBDEs.Future works including keeping monitoring at a reasonable scale and frequency to make sure levels near urban centers indicative of population do not increase are needed.Additionally,focus effort on e-waste recycling regions to look for impacts and to determine if regulation/controls are resulting in lower environmental contamination,and incorporation of sentinel species in monitoring efforts are recommended.Jiangping Wu Ying Zhang Xiaojun Luo Yazhe She Lehuan Yu Shejun Chen Bixian Mai 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,2:15

5Ab initio study of the effects of Ag/Mn doping on the electronic structure of LiFePO_4显示文摘Based on density functional theory (DFT) of the first-principle for the cathode materials of lithium ion battery, the electronic structures of Li(Fe1-xMex)PO4 (Me = Ag/Mn, x = 0―0.40) are calculated by plane wave pseudo-potential method using Cambridge serial total energy package (CASTEP) program. The calculated results show that the Fermi level of mixed atoms Fe1-xAgx moves into its conduction bands (CBs) due to the Ag doping. The Li(Fe1-xAgx)PO4 system displays the periodic direct semiconductor characteristic with the increase of Ag-doped concentration. However, for Fe1-xMnx mixed atoms, the Fermi level is pined at the bottom of conduction bands (CBs), which is ascribed to the interaction be-tween Mn(3d) electrons and Fe(4s) electrons. The intensity of the partial density of states (PDOS) near the bottom of CBs becomes stronger with the increase of Mn-doped concentration. The Fermi energy of the Li(Fe1-xMnx)PO4 reaches maximum at x = 0.25, which is consistent with the experimental value of x = 0.20. 6Lithium intercalation/de-intercalation behavior of a composite Sn/C thin film fabricated by magnetron sputtering显示文摘A tin film of 320 nm in thickness on Cu foil and its composite film with graphite of ~50 nm in thickness on it were fabricated by magnetron sputtering. The surface morphology, composition, surface distributions of alloy elements, and lithium intercalation/de-intercalation behaviors of the fabricated films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and galvanostatic charge/discharge (GC) measurements. It is found that the lithium intercalation/de-intercalation behavior of the Sn film can be significantly improved by its composite with graphite. With cycling, the discharge capacity of the Sn film without composite changes from 570 mAh/g of the 2nd cycle to 270 mAh/g of the 20th cycle, and its efficiency for the discharge and charge is between 90% and 95%. Nevertheless, the discharge capacity of the composite Sn/C film changes from 575 mAh/g of the 2nd cycle to 515 mAh/g of the 20th cycle, and its efficiency for the discharge and charge is between 95% and 100%. 7Dead lithium phase investigation of Sn-Zn alloy as anode materials for lithium ion battery显示文摘In this work, based on First-principle plane wave pseudo-potential method, we have carried out an in-depth study on the possible dead lithium phase of Sn-Zn alloy as anode materials for lithium ion batteries. Through investigation, we found that the phases LixSn4Zn4(x = 2, 4, 6, 8) contributed to re-versible capacity, while the phases LixSn4Zn8-(x-4)(x = 4.74, 7.72) led to capacity loss due to high forma-tion energy, namely, they were the dead lithium phases during the charge/discharge process. 8Effects of Ti_(0.5)Al_(0.5)N coatings on the protecting against oxidation for titanium alloys显示文摘Ti0.5Al0.5N coatings were deposited on TC11(Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si) and silicon substrates using a cathode arc ion-plating system.The microstructure, composition, phase structure, and oxidation-resistance of the alloys and nitride coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, and thermal analyzer.The results show that the oxidation resistance of the titanium alloy is relatively limited;the compound structures of Ti mixed with Al oxides are formed during the heating process.The phases of the Ti0.5Al0.5N coatings are composed of a TiN solid solution phase.The oxidation kinetics obeys the parabolic law.During the oxidation process, the selective oxidation of Al occurs, thus protecting the underlying coating and substrate.RU Qiang HU Shejun 2010Rare Metals2010,29,2:6

10First principles studies on the electronics structures of(Li_(1-x)Me_x)FePO_4(Me=Na and Be)显示文摘Based on density functional theory(DFT)of the first-principle for cathode materials of lithium ion battery,the electronic structures of(Li1-xMex)FePO4(Me=Na and Be,x=0-0.40)are calculated by plane wave pseudo-potential method using Cambridge serial total energy package(CASTEP)program.The calculated results show that Li-site doping can improve the electronic conductivity enormously.Doping with Na has a noticeable effect on improving its electrical conductivity.However,serious structural distortion will occur when its doping density is beyond 0.25.In view of this,the best density of doping Na is less than 0.25.Doping with Be has an inconspicuous effect on increasing its electrical conductivity and has good cyclical stability,but it cannot achieve as good results as when it is doped with Na.Therefore we cannot find a middle ground between the two proposals.Considering cost and environmental protection,it is ideal to choose Na.So this method gives a reasonable prediction to the improvement of electronic conductivity through Li-site doping in LiFePO4 material.HOU XianHua HU SheJun 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,27:4
11First-principles calculations and experimental studies of Sn-Zn alloys as negative electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘The physical characters and electrochemical properties of various phases in a Sn-Zn electrode,such as formation energy,plateau potential,specific capacity,as well as volume expansion,were calculated by the first-principles plane-wave pseudo-potential method based on the density functional theory.Sn-Zn films were also deposited on copper foils by an electroless plating technique.The actual composition and chemical characters were explored by scanning electron microscopy (SEM),X-ray diffraction (XRD),plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP),and constant current charge/discharge measurements (CC).The results show that separation phases with tin and zinc including a small quantity of Cu6Sn5 phase were obtained,the initial lithium insertion capacity of the Sn-Zn film was 661 mAh/g,and obvious potential plateaus of about 0.4 V and 0.7 V were displayed,which is in accordance with the results of theoretical calculations.The capacity of the Sn-Zn film decreased seriously with the increase of cycle number.RU Qiang PENG Wei ZHANG Zhiwen HU Shejun LI Yanling 2011Rare Metals2011,30,2:3

16Effect of Annealing Temperature on GMR of [NiFeCo(10 nm)/Ag(10 nm)]×20 Multilayer Film显示文摘The composition, phase structure, and microstructure of the discontinuous multilayer films [NiFeCo(10 nm)/Ag(10 nm)]×20 annealed at temperature 280,320,360 and 400℃, respectively were investigated. GMR (giant magnetoresistance) ratios of the multilayer films were measured at different temperatures. The results showed that FeNia precipitated at 360℃ and dissolved at 400℃.
