1Effect of Ryegrasses on Soil Runoff and Sediment Control显示文摘Living plants and plant roots can reduce runoff and soil erosion.Using a rain simulator,a series of soil erosion experiments were conducted to study the influence of living roots and canopies of ryegrasees (Lolium perenne L.) during the growing season on sediment yields and runoff of a silt loam soil.The results indicated that during the growing season, decrements in runoff and sediment yields increased with time.Sediment yields (r^2=0.999) and decrements in runoff (r^2=0.946) were closely related to the root surface area density.The contributions of roots and canopies of ryegrasees to the reductions in runoff and sediment yields were different.Canopies usually contributed more to the runoff decrement than the roots,whereas roots contributed up to 96% of the decrease in sediment yields in the late stage of the growing season.ZHOU Zheng-Chao SHANGGUAN Zhou-Ping 2008Pedosphere2008,18,1:29
2Glacier changes during the last forty years in the Tarim Interior River basin,northwest China显示文摘By comparing digitized glacier outlines from the Chinese Glacier Inventory (CGI) during the 1960s-1970s and Landsat Enhance Thematic Mapper (ETM+) images from 1999 to 2001, we investigated changes for about 7665 alpine glaciers among 11665 glaciers in seven sub-basins of the Tarim Interior River basin (TIRB). The results showed that the total glacier area was reduced by 3.3% from the 1960s/ 1970s to 1999/2001 and area losses for 1-5 km2 glaciers accounted for 48.3% of the total glacier area loss in the TIRB. However, the glacier area reductions varied from 0.7% to 7.9% among the seven sub-basins of the TIRB during the study period. The glacier area changing with altitude showed that the maximum contribution of area shrinkage occurred at 4900-5400 m. Data from 25 meteorological stations in the TIRB showed increases in both the annual mean air temperature and annual precipitation during 1960-2000. 4Motion trajectory prediction based on a CNN-LSTM sequential model显示文摘Accurate monitoring the surrounding environment is an important research direction in the field of unmanned systems such as bio-robotics,and has attracted much research attention in recent years.The trajectories of surrounding vehicles should be predicted accurately in space and time to realize active defense and running safety of an unmanned system.However,there is uncertainty and uncontrollability in the process of trajectory prediction of surrounding obstacles.In this study,we propose a trajectory prediction method based on a sequential model,that fuses two neural networks of a convolutional neural network(CNN)and a long short-term memory network(LSTM).First,a box plot is used to detect and eliminate abnormal values of vehicle trajectories,and valid trajectory data are obtained.Second,the trajectories of surrounding vehicles are predicted by merging the characteristics of CNN space expansion and LSTM time expansion;the hyper-parameters of the model are optimized according to a grid search algorithm,which satisfies the double-precision prediction requirement in space and time.Finally,data from next generation simulation(NGSIM)and Creteil roundabout in France are taken as test cases;the correctness and rationality of the method are verified by prediction error indicators.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed CNNLSTM method is more accurate and features a shorter time cost,which meets the prediction requirements and provides an effective method for the safe operation of unmanned systems.Guo XIE Anqi SHANGGUAN Rong FEI Wenjiang JI Weigang MA Xinhong HEI 2020Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,11:24

6δD values of escaped H_2 from hot springs at the Tengchong Rehai geothermal area and its origin显示文摘Here we give the δD values of escaped H2 from hot springs at the Tengchong Rehai and adjacent regions, and deal with a genetic correlation between the increment H2 in escaped gases from middle-shallow reservoirs and the H2S, CH4 derived from deep sources. Isotopic compositions of H2 indicate that the generation of increment H2 may be related to recent strong activity of N-W trending fault at the Rehai area. 7Thinning and Shrinkage of Laohugou No. 12 Glacier in the Western Qilian Mountains, China, from 1957 to 2007显示文摘Landsat images, real-time kinematic GPS measurements, and topographic maps were used to determine changes in ice elevation, volume, and areal extent of the Laohugou No. 12 glacier (Qilian Mountains, China) between 1957 and 2007. The glacier experienced significant thinning and areal shrinkage in the ablation zone, but slight thickening in part of the accumulation zone. Elevation decreased by 18.6±5.4 m between 1957 and 2007 in the regions covered by the GPS measurements. The total volume loss for the entire glacier was estimated to be 0.218 km3 using a third-order polynomial fit method. The area diminished by 0.28 km2 between 1957 and 1994, 0.26 km2 between 1994 and 2000, and 0.28 km2 between 2000 and 2007, suggesting that the rate of loss in glacial coverage has increased since the mid-1990s. 9Identification of Ice Elevation Change of the Shuiguan River No.4 Glacier in the Qilian Mountains,China显示文摘GPS measurement,an effective method for surveying glacier surface topography,has been applied in some glaciers for many years.The Shuiguan River No.4 glacier,a small glacier with its area of 1.84 km2 in 1972,located in the east of the Qilian Mountains,China,was selected to study its ice elevation change using GPS measurement in 2007.This study was conducted on the ablation area with GPS-measured area 0.5 km2.The ice elevation change of the glacier was obtained by comparing the DEM obtained by a 1:50 000 topographic map made in 1972 with the DEM by GPS-measured data acquired in 2007.The differences of the two DEMs showed the thinning condition of the glacier was apparent.The mean thinning was 15±8 m with the mean thinning rate of 0.42±0.22 m a-1 for 1972-2007 in the measurement area,which equaled 0.38±0.20 m yr-1 in water equivalent(w.e.).The prominent thinning occurred on the south part of the glacier,which was the area near the glacier terminus with the maximum thinning of 41±8 m.Assuming the thinning value of 15±8 m for the glacier area below 4640 m a.s.l.,the wasting ice mass was calculated to be 6.4±3.2×10-3 km3 for 1972-2007,corresponding to 5.7±2.8×10-3 km3 w.e.,which meant that the montane runoff released by the glacier was at least 5.7±2.8×106 m3 between 1972-2007.LI Jing LIU Shiyin SHANGGUAN Donghui ZHANG Yinsong 2010Journal of Mountain Science2010,7,4:14
10A Fractal Method of Estimating Soil Structure Changes Under Different Vegetations on Ziwuling Mountains of the Loess Plateau,China显示文摘Fractal method is a new method to estimate soil structure. It has been shown to be a useful tool in studies related tophysical properties of soil as well as erosion and other hydrological processes. Fractal dimension was used to study thesoil structure in soil at different stages of vegetative succession on the Ziwuling Mountains. The land use and vegetationtypes included cultivated land, abandoned land, grassland, two types of shrub land, and three types of forests. Thegrassland, shrub land, and forested areas represented a continuum in vegetative succession that had occurred naturally,as the land was abandoned in 1862. Disturbed and undisturbed soil samples were collected from ten vegetation types fromdepths of 0-10, 10-20, and 20-30 cm on the Ziwuling Mountains, at a site with an elevation of about 1 500 m. Particle sizedistribution was determined by the pipette method and aggregate size distribution was determined by wet sieving. Theresults were used to calculate the particle and aggregate fractal dimension. The results showed that particle and aggregatefractal dimensions varied between vegetation types. There was a positive correlation between the particle fractal dimensionand the weight of particles with diameter < 0.001 mm, but no relationship between particle fractal dimension and the otherparticle size classes. Particle fractal dimension was lower in vegetated soils compared to cropland and there was noconsistent relationship between fractal dimension and vegetation type. Aggregate fractal dimension was positivelycorrelated with the weight of > 0.25 mm aggregates. Aggregate fractal dimension was lower in vegetated soils comparedwith cropland. In contrast to particle fractal dimension, aggregate fractal dimension described changes in soil structureassociated with vegetative succession. 11Preliminary estimation of the organic carbon pool in China's wetlands显示文摘Accurate estimation of wetland carbon pools is a prerequisite for wetland resource conservation and implementation of carbon sink enhancement plans.The inventory approach is a realistic method for estimating the organic carbon pool in China's wetlands at the national scale.An updated data and inventory approach were used to estimate the amount of organic carbon stored in China's wetlands.Primary results are as follows:(1) the organic carbon pool of China's wetlands is between 5.39 and 7.25 Pg,accounting for 1.3%-3.5% of the global level;(2) the estimated values and percentages of the organic carbon contained in the soil,water and vegetation pools in China's wetlands are 5.04-6.19 Pg and 85.4%-93.5%,0.22-0.56 Pg and 4.1%-7.7%,0.13-0.50 Pg and 2.4%-6.9%,respectively.The soil organic carbon pool of China's wetlands is greater than our previous estimate of 3.67 Pg,but is lower than other previous estimates of 12.20 and 8-10 Pg.Based on the discussion and uncertainty analysis,some research areas worthy of future attention are presented.ZHENG YaoMin NIU ZhenGuo GONG Peng DAI YongJiu SHANGGUAN Wei 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,6:13
12Increased Oxidative Stress in Women With Pregnancy-induced Hypertension显示文摘Objective To investigate whether pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) may increase oxidative stress in women with PIH, and to explore the mechanisms by which PIH may increase oxidative stress and potential free radical damage. Methods Seventy women with PIH and seventy women with uncomplicated normotensive pregnancy (UNP) whose age, nutritional conditions, levels of hemoglobin and albumin were all matched, were enrolled in a randomized controlled trial. Their plasma concentrations of nitric oxide (NO), vitamin C (VC), vitamin E (VE), and β-carotene (β-CAR) as well as their erythrocyte malondialdehyde (MDA), and activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX)were determined by spectrophotometry. Results Compared with average values of the above experimental parameters in the women with UNP, the average value of erythrocyte MDA in the women with PIH significantly increased (P<0.0001), while the average values of plasma NO, VC, VE, and β-CAR as well as those of erythrocyte SOD, CAT, and GPX in the women with PIH significantly decreased (P<0.0005-0.0001). The findings from partial correlation analysis (controlling for age) for 70women with PIH showed that with elevated systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP), MDA value gradually increased (P<0.001), and NO, VC, VE, β-CAR, SOD, CAT, and GPX values gradually decreased (P<0.02-0.001).The fmdings from reliability analysis for NO, VC, VE, β-CAR, SOD, CAT, GPX, and MDA values used to reflect increased oxidative stress and potential free radical damage in women with PIH showed that the reliability coefficients (alpha, 8 items) =0.7062, P< 0.0001, and the standardized item alpha = 0.9116, P< 0.0001. 13Triboelectric behaviors of materials under high speeds and large currents显示文摘Using special testers,the triboelectric behaviors of several materials were investigated in this paper under the conditions of high speeds and large currents.The obtained results revealed that the tribological behaviors and current-conducting characteristics have complicated interrelationships.Worsening in the servicing conditions can obviously deteriorate the tribological as well as electrical behaviors;high sliding speeds and large electrical currents can worsen the tribological and electrical conductivity properties,while an appropriate contact pressure can benefit the electrical contact properties.Further analyses reveal that the worsening effects of the above factors,such as frictional heat,arc discharge,arc heat,and surface morphology,result in poor triboelectric contact performance.Among these,the electric arc is one of the most serious factors,because the occurrence of an electric arc may cause severe oxidation,melting,and roughening of the contact surface,thereby causing deterioration in the current-conducting quality as well as material loss.Yongzhen ZHANG Zhenghai YANG Kexing Song Xianjuan PANG Bao SHANGGUAN 2013Friction2013,1,3:12

18Biomass Components and Environmental Controls in Ningxia Grasslands显示文摘Grassland plays an important role in the global carbon cycle and climate regulation. However, there are still large uncertainties in grassland carbon pool and also its role in global carbon cycle due to the lack of measured grassland biomass at regional scale or global scale with a unified survey method, particular for below-ground biomass. The present study, based on a total of 44 grassland sampling plots with 220 quadrats across Ningxia, investigated the characteristics of above-ground biomass (AGB), below-ground biomass (BGB), litter biomass (LB), total biomass (TB) and root:shoot ratios (R:S) for six predominantly grassland types, and their relationships with climatic factors. AGB, BGB, LB and TB varied markedly across different grassland types, the median value ranging from 28.2-692.6 g m-2 for AGB, 130.4-2 036.6 g m-2 for BGB, 9.2-82.3 g m-2 for LB, and 168.0-2 681.3 g m-2 for TB. R:S showed less variation with median values from 3.2 to 5.3 (excluding marshy meadow). The different grassland types showed similar patterns of biomass allocation, with more than 70% BGB for all types. 19Nitrogen Deficiency Limited the Improvement of Photosynthesis in Maize by Elevated CO_2 Under Drought显示文摘Global environmental change affects plant physiological and ecosystem processes.The interaction of elevated CO2,drought and nitrogen(N) deficiency result in complex responses of C4 species photosynthetic process that challenge our current understanding.An experiment of maize(Zea mays L.) involving CO2 concentrations(380 or 750 μmol mol-1,climate chamber),osmotic stresses(10% PEG-6000,-0.32 MPa) and nitrogen constraints(N deficiency treated since the 144th drought hour) was carried out to investigate its photosynthesis capacity and leaf nitrogen use efficiency.Elevated CO2 could alleviate drought-induced photosynthetic limitation through increasing capacity of PEPC carboxylation(V pmax) and decreasing stomatal limitations(SL).The N deficiency exacerbated drought-induced photosynthesis limitations in ambient CO2.Elevated CO2 partially alleviated the limitation induced by drought and N deficiency through improving the capacity of Rubisco carboxylation(V max) and decreasing SL.Plants with N deficiency transported more N to their leaves at elevated CO2,leading to a high photosynthetic nitrogen-use efficiency but low whole-plant nitrogen-use efficiency.The stress mitigation by elevated CO2 under N deficiency conditions was not enough to improving plant N use efficiency and biomass accumulation.The study demonstrated that elevated CO2 could alleviate drought-induced photosynthesis limitation,but the alleviation varied with N supplies.ZONG Yu-zheng SHANGGUAN Zhou-ping 2014Journal of Integrative Agriculture2014,13,1:9
20Mass Loss from Glaciers in the Chinese Altai Mountains between 1959 and 2008 Revealed Based on Historical Maps, SRTM, and ASTER Images显示文摘Mass loss of glaciers in the Chinese Altai was detected using geodetic methods based on topographical maps(1959), the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission(SRTM) Digital Elevation Model(DEM)(2000), and the Advanced Space-borne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer(ASTER) stereo images(2008). The results indicate that a continued and accelerating shrinkage has occurred in the Chinese Altai Mountains during the last 50 years, with mass deficits of 0.43 ± 0.02 and0.54 ± 0.13 m a-1 water equivalent(w.e.) during the periods 1959-1999 and 1999-2008, respectively.Overall, the Chinese Altai Mountains have lost 7.06 ±0.44 km3 in ice volume(equivalent to-0.43 ± 0.03 m a-1 w.e.) from 1959-2008. The spatial heterogeneity in mass loss was potentially affected by comprehensive changes in temperature and precipitation, and had a substantial correlation withglacier size and topographic settings.
