| 1 | Anaerobic microbiologically influenced corrosion mechanisms interpreted using bioenergetics and bioelectrochemistry: A review显示文摘Microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC) is a major cause of corrosion damages, facility failures, and financial losses, making MIC an important research topic. Due to complex microbiological activities and a lack of deep understanding of the interactions between biofilms and metal surfaces, MIC occurrences and mechanisms are difficult to predict and interpret. Many theories and mechanisms have been proposed to explain MIC. In this review, the mechanisms of MIC are discussed using bioenergetics, microbial respiration types, and biofilm extracellular electron transfer(EET). Two main MIC types, namely EET-MIC and metabolite MIC(M-MIC), are discussed. | 2 | Ultrasound shear wave elastography and liver fibrosis: A Prospective Multicenter Study显示文摘AIM To assess the accuracy of shear wave elastography(SWE) alone and in combination with aminotransferase platelet ratio index(APRI) score in the staging of liver fibrosis.METHODS A multicenter prospective study was conducted to assess the accuracy of SWE(medians) and APRI to predict biopsy results. The analysis focused on distinguishing the different stages of liver disease, namely, F0 from F1-4, F0-1 from F2-4, F0-2 from F3-4 and F0-3 from F4; F0-F1 from F2-F4 being of primary interest. The area under the receiver operating characteristic(AUROC) curve was computed using logistic regression model. The role of age, gender and steatosis was also assessed.RESULTS SWE alone accurately distinguished F0-1 from F2-4 with a high probability. The AUROC using SWE alone was 0.91 compared to 0.78 for using the APRI score alone.The APRI score, when used in conjunction with SWE, did not make a significant contribution to the AUROC. SWE and steatosis were the only significant predictors that differentiated F0-1 from F2-4 with an AUROC of 0.944.CONCLUSION Our study validates the use of SWE in the diagnosis and staging of liver fibrosis. To solve some technical problems in the protection of the highway from sand drift encroachment, desert experts have been conductin g the theoretical and applied studies on sand movement laws; causes, severities and time-space differentiation of sand drift damages; and control ways in cluding mechanical, chemical and biological measures. In this paper the authors give an overall summary on the research contents and recent progress i n the control of sand drift damages in China and hold that the theoretica l research results and practices in the prevention of sand drift encr oachment on the cross-desert highway represent a breakthrough and has an epoch-making significance. | 4 | Predictors of mortality after transjugular portosystemic shunt显示文摘AIM:To investigate if echocardiographic and hemodynamic determinations obtained at the time of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)can provide prognostic information that will enhance risk stratification of patients.METHODS:We reviewed medical records of 467 patients who underwent TIPS between July 2003 and December 2011 at our institution.We recorded information regarding patient demographics,underlying liver disease,indication for TIPS,baseline laboratory values,hemodynamic determinations at the time of TIPS,and echocardiographic measurements both before and after TIPS.We recorded patient comorbidities that may affect hemodynamic and echocardiographic determinations.We also calculated Model for Endstage Liver Disease(MELD)score and Child Turcotte Pugh(CTP)class.The following pre-and post-TIPS echocardiographic determinations were recorded:Left ventricular ejection fraction,right ventricular(RV)systolic pressure,subjective RV dilation,and subjective RV function.We recorded the following hemodynamic measurements:Right atrial(RA)pressure before and after TIPS,inferior vena cava pressure before and after TIPS,free hepatic vein pressure,portal vein pressure before and after TIPS,and hepatic venous pressure gradient(HVPG).RESULTS:We reviewed 418 patients with portal hypertension undergoing TIPS.RA pressure increased by a mean ± SD of 4.8 ± 3.9 mmH g(P < 0.001),HVPG decreased by 6.8 ± 3.5 mmH g(P < 0.001).In multivariate linear regression analysis,a higher MELD score,lower platelet count,splenectomy and a higher portal vein pressure were independent predictors of higher RA pressure(R = 0.55).Three variables predicted 3-mo mortality after TIPS in a multivariate analysis:Age,MELD score,and CTP grade C.Change in the RA pressure after TIPS predicted long-term mortality(per 1 mm Hg change,HR = 1.03,95%CI:1.01-1.06,P < 0.012).CONCLUSION:RA pressure increased immediately after TIPS particularly in patients with worse liver function,portal hypertension,emergent TIPS placement and history of splenectomy.The increase in RA pressure after TIPS was associated with increased mortality.Age,splenectomy,MELD score and CTP grade were independent predictors of long-term mortality after TIPS. | Mona Ascha Sami Abuqayyas Ibrahim Hanouneh Laith Alkukhun Mark Sands Raed A Dweik Adriano R Tonelli | 2016 | World Journal of Hepatology2016,8,11: | 13 |
| 5 | 新型冠状病毒肺炎流行对HIV感染者卫生需求影响的快速评估显示文摘目的了解新型冠状病毒肺炎暴发流行对HIV感染者卫生需求影响,为政府和感染者社区快速制定应对措施提供参考依据。方法于2020年2月5-10日,通过网络招募年满18周岁并已开始服用抗反转录病毒药物(ARV)的HIV感染者参加网络匿名调查,了解新型冠状病毒肺炎流行期间,受访者在预防新型冠状病毒肺炎、获取HIV防治相关服务和心理支持需求等方面的信息。结果调查共收集1014份来自全国各省的HIV感染者的调查问卷,93.79%的调查对象表示自己所在的社区提供了新型冠状病毒肺炎的预防信息,同时更加关心HIV感染者相关的新型冠状病毒肺炎预防措施以及防护品短缺问题;32.64%的调查对象表示自己现有的ARV不足以满足交通和旅行管制期间的需求,其中部分感染者在未来1个月面临断药风险。湖北省需要补充药物的HIV感染者中,64.15%的人表示因为'封锁和行动受限'而难以获得HIV治疗药物。调查还发现,28.93%的调查对象希望获得社会心理支持;对政府的期待方面,85.31%的调查对象希望可以进一步完善HIV感染者异地取药流程。结论HIV感染者希望了解该人群预防新型冠状病毒肺炎暴发的相关信息,部分返乡或居住在交通管制地区的感染者,仍存在定期领药等方面的困难。疫情形势下,HIV感染者获取药物面临困难,我们应当进一步开展系统调查了解新型冠状病毒肺炎流行对HIV感染的影响,并提高卫生系统应急储备和处置能力。 | 郭巍 翁惠玲 白桦 刘洁 魏向楠 周凯 Amakobe Sande | 2020 | 中华流行病学杂志2020,41,5: | 11 |
| 6 | On the sand surface stability in the southern part of Gurbantünggüt Desert显示文摘Longitudinal dunes are the most widespread dune types in the world sand seas but comprehensive study on the sand surface stability is scarce. The southern part of Gurbantnggt Desert is mainly covered by longitudinal dune in which fixed and semi-fixed dunes occupy over 80% of the total area. Systematic analysis on the climatic conditions, the soil moisture and vegetation distributions, and the sand surface activities showed that the fixed and semi-fixed dunes are in a comprehensive low-energy wind environment. Snow cover and frozen soil provide a good protection to the ground surface in winter. The temporal distribution of precipitation and corresponding variation of temperature create a favorable condition for the desert plants growth, especially for the ephemeral plants. The occurrence of effective winds for sand moving in April to June coincides with the stage of relatively wet sand surface and good vegetation cover, which effectively keep the sand surface stable at the interdune and the plinth of the dunes. | 11 | Variance components and correlations of female fertility traits in Chinese Holstein population显示文摘Background: The objective of the present study was to estimate(co)variance components of female fertility traits in Chinese Holsteins, considering fertility traits in different parities as different traits. Data on 88,647 females with 215,632 records(parities) were collected during 2000 to 2014 from 32 herds in the Sanyuan Lvhe Dairy Cattle Center, Beijing, China. The analyzed female fertility traits included interval from calving to first insemination, interval from first to last insemination, days open, conception rate at first insemination, number of inseminations per conception and non-return rates within 56 days after first insemination.Results: The descriptive statistics showed that the average fertility of heifers was superior to that of cows. Moreover,the genetic correlations between the performances of a trait in heifers and in cows were all moderate to high but far from one, which suggested that the performances of a trait in heifers and cows should be considered as different but genetically correlated traits in genetic evaluations. On the other hand, genetic correlations between performances of a trait in different parities of cows were greater than 0.87, with only a few exceptions, but variances were not homogeneous across parities for some traits. The estimated heritabilities of female fertility traits were low; all were below 0.049(except for interval from calving to first insemination). Additionally, the heritabilities of the heifer interval traits were lower than those of the corresponding cow interval traits. Moreover, the heritabilities of the interval traits were higher than those of the threshold traits when measuring similar fertility functions. In general, estimated genetic correlations between traits were highly consistent with the biological categories of the female fertility traits.Conclusions: Interval from calving to first insemination, interval from first to last insemination and non-return rates within 56 days after first insemination are recommended to be included in the selection index of the Chinese Holstein population. | 12 | Probable benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, spontaneously resolved:Incidence in medical practice, patients’ characteristics and the natural course显示文摘Background: Probable benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, spontaneously resolved (pBPPVsr), is a variant of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) in which there is no observable nystagmus and no vertigo with any positional maneuver. Objectives: To calculate the incidence pBPPVsr, compare the characteristics of the patients with pBPPVsr and BPPV not spontaneously resolved and describe the spontaneous resolution in the natural course of BPPV. Methods: Multicenter prospective descriptive study. During a one-year period, all patients with suspected BPPV that presented to the Neurotology Units of five participating centers were recruited. The incidence of pBPPVsr was calculated as a percentage of the total number of patients with BPPV. The prevalence of several variables was compared between pBPPVsr and BPPV not spontaneously resolved. The timing of spontaneous resolution was estimated using Kaplan-Meier curves. Results: 457 patients met the inclusion criteria. The incidence of pBPPVsr was 33.5%. It was significantly higher in males, in patients with normal bone mass and in patients who were not taking sulpiride. A rate of 18% of spontaneous resolution after the first month and 51% after the first year was found. This percentage did not change in a significant way after this moment. The curves for males, patients under 50 and patients with normal blood pressure decreased significantly faster. Conclusions: In our serie, BPPV spontaneously resolved in half of the patients with BPPV during the first year. | 17 | Improving genomic predictions by correction of genotypes from genotyping by sequencing in livestock populations显示文摘Background: Genotyping by sequencing(GBS) is a robust method to genotype markers. Many factors can influence the genotyping quality. One is that heterozygous genotypes could be wrongly genotyped as homozygotes,dependent on the genotyping depths. In this study, a method correcting this type of genotyping error was demonstrated. The efficiency of this correction method and its effect on genomic prediction were assessed using simulated data of livestock populations.Results: Chip array(Chip) and four depths of GBS data was simulated. After quality control(call rate ≥ 0.8 and MAF ≥ 0.01), the remaining number of Chip and GBS SNPs were both approximately 7,000, averaged over 10 replicates. GBS genotypes were corrected with the proposed method. The reliability of genomic prediction was calculated using GBS, corrected GBS(GBSc), true genotypes for the GBS loci(GBSr) and Chip data. The results showed that GBSc had higher rates of correct genotype calls and higher correlations with true genotypes than GBS. For genomic prediction, using Chip data resulted in the highest reliability. As the depth increased to 10, the prediction reliabilities using GBS and GBSc data approached those using true GBS data. The reliabilities of genomic prediction using GBSc data were 0.604, 0.672, 0.684 and 0.704 after genomic correction, with the improved values of 0.013, 0.009, 0.006 and 0.001 at depth = 2, 4, 5 and 10, respectively.Conclusions: The current study showed that a correction method for GBS data increased the genotype accuracies and, consequently, improved genomic predictions. | 18 | Comparisons of improved genomic predictions generated by different imputation methods for genotyping by sequencing data in livestock populations显示文摘Background:Genotyping by sequencing(GBS)still has problems with missing genotypes.Imputation is important for using GBS for genomic predictions,especially for low depths,due to the large number of missing genotypes.Minor allele frequency(MAF)is widely used as a marker data editing criteria for genomic predictions.In this study,three imputation methods(Beagle,IMPUTE2 and FImpute software)based on four MAF editing criteria were investigated with regard to imputation accuracy of missing genotypes and accuracy of genomic predictions,based on simulated data of livestock population.Results:Four MAFs(no MAF limit,MAF≥0.001,MAF≥0.01 and MAF≥0.03)were used for editing marker data before imputation.Beagle,IMPUTE2 and FImpute software were applied to impute the original GBS.Additionally,IMPUTE2 also imputed the expected genotype dosage after genotype correction(GcIM).The reliability of genomic predictions was calculated using GBS and imputed GBS data.The results showed that imputation accuracies were the same for the three imputation methods,except for the data of sequencing read depth(depth)=2,where FImpute had a slightly lower imputation accuracy than Beagle and IMPUTE2.GcIM was observed to be the best for all of the imputations at depth=4,5 and 10,but the worst for depth=2.For genomic prediction,retaining more SNPs with no MAF limit resulted in higher reliability.As the depth increased to 10,the prediction reliabilities approached those using true genotypes in the GBS loci.Beagle and IMPUTE2 had the largest increases in prediction reliability of 5 percentage points,and FImpute gained 3 percentage points at depth=2.The best prediction was observed at depth=4,5 and 10 using GcIM,but the worst prediction was also observed using GcIM at depth=2.Conclusions:The current study showed that imputation accuracies were relatively low for GBS with low depths and high for GBS with high depths.Imputation resulted in larger gains in the reliability of genomic predictions for GBS with lower depths.These results suggest that the application of IMPUTE2,based on a corrected GBS(GcIM)to improve genomic predictions for higher depths,and FImpute software could be a good alternative for routine imputation. | Xiao Wang Guosheng Su Dan Hao Mogens SandøLund Haja N.Kadarmideen | 2020 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,2: | 4 |
