Overview, prevention and management of chemotherapy extravasation显示文摘Chemotherapy extravasation remains an accidental complication of chemotherapy administration and may result in serious damage to patients. We review in this article the clinical aspects of chemotherapy extravasation and latest advances in definitions, classification, pre-vention, management and guidelines. We review the grading of extravasation and tissue damage according to various chemotherapeutic drugs and present an update on treatment and new antidotes including dexrazoxane for anthracyclines extravasation. We highlight the importance of education and training of the oncology team for prevention and prompt pharmacological and non-pharmacological management and stress the availability of new antidotes like dexrazoxane wherever anthracyclines are being infused. | Firas Y Kreidieh Hiba A Moukadem Nagi S El Saghir | 2016 | World Journal of Clinical Oncology2016,7,1: | 8
Efficacy of pancreatoscopy for pancreatic duct stones:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Pancreatic duct stones can lead to significant abdominal pain for patients.Per oral pancreatoscopy(POP)-guided intracorporal lithotripsy is being increasingly used for the management of main pancreatic duct calculi(PDC)in chronic pancreatitis.POP uses two techniques:Electrohydraulic lithotripsy(EHL)and laser lithotripsy(LL).Data on the safety and efficacy are limited for this procedure. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis with a primary aim to calculate the pooled technical and clinical success rates of POP.The secondary aim was to assess pooled rates of technical success, clinical success for the two individual techniques, and adverse event rates.AIM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of POP,EHL and LL for management of PDC in chronic pancreatitis.METHODS We conducted a comprehensive search of multiple electronic databases and conference proceedings including PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane,Google Scholar and Web of Science databases(from 1999 to October 2019)to identify studies with patient age greater than 17 and any gender that reported on outcomes of POP,EHL and LL.The primary outcome assessed involved the pooled technical success and clinical success rate of POP.The secondary outcome included the pooled technical success and clinical success rate for EHL and LL.We also assessed the pooled rate of adverse events for POP,EHL and LL including a subgroup analysis for the rate of adverse event subtypes for POP:Hemorrhage,post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis(PEP),perforation, abdominal pain, fever and infections.Technical success was defined as the rate of clearing pancreatic duct stones and clinical success as the improvement in pain.Randomeffects model was used for analysis.Heterogeneity between study-specific estimates was calculated using the Cochran Q statistical test and I2 statistics.Publication bias was ascertained, qualitatively by visual inspection of funnel plot and quantitatively by the Egger test.RESULTS A total of 16 studies including 383 patients met the inclusion criteria. The technical success rate of POP was 76.4%(95%CI:65.9-84.5;I2=64%)and clinical success rate was 76.8%(95%CI:65.2-85.4;I2=66%).The technical success rate of EHL was 70.3%(95%CI:57.8-80.3;I2=36%)and clinical success rate of EHL was 66.5%(95%CI:55.2-76.2;I2=19%).The technical success rate of LL was 89.3%(95%CI:70.5-96.7;I2=70%)and clinical success rate of LL was 88.2%(95%CI:66.4-96.6;I2=77%).The incidence of pooled adverse events for POP was 14.9%(95%CI:9.2-23.2;I2=49%),for EHL was 11.2%(95%CI:5.9-20.3;I2=15%)and for LL was 13.1%(95%CI:6.3-25.4;I2=31%).Subgroup analysis of adverse events showed rates of PEP at 7%(95%CI:3.5-13.6;I2=38%),fever at 3.7%(95%CI:2-6.9;I2=0),abdominal pain at 4.7%(95%CI:2.7-7.8;I2=0),perforation at 4.3%(95%CI:2.1-8.4;I2=0),hemorrhage at 3.4%(95%CI:1.7-6.6;I2=0)and no mortality. There was evidence of publication bias based on funnel plot analysis and Egger’s test.CONCLUSION Our study highlights the high technical and clinical success rates for POP,EHL and LL.POP-guided lithotripsy could be a viable option for management of chronic pancreatitis with PDC. | Syed M Saghir Harmeet S Mashiana Babu P Mohan Banreet S Dhindsa Amaninder Dhaliwal Saurabh Chandan Neil Bhogal Ishfaq Bhat Shailender Singh Douglas G Adler | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,34: | 5
Stability analysis of different cotton genotypes under normal and water-deficit conditions显示文摘Cotton plant observes significant reduction in seed cotton yield when subjected to water stress. To find out genotypes having better drought tolerance, seven genotypes of Gossypium hirsutum L.were tested under two moisture levels,i.e.,normal and water deficit stress conditions at five locations of Punjab,Pakistan(Faisalabad,Sahiwal,Vehari,Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur)in 2013 and 2014.Genotype×environment interaction(GEI)was studied using the genotype main effects and genotype by environment interaction(GGE)biplot and additive main effect and multiplicative interaction analysis. The genotypes G3(7001/11)and G6(FH-942)were stable under normal condition, while under drought condition, the stable genotype was G5(FH-326)when analysed using additive main effects and multiplicative interaction(AMMI)biplot scheme. While GGE biplot analysis on the basis of best performance revealed that under normal condition the genotypes,G1(L-13/10)and G2(FH-2056/10),carrying the common position in biplot.Whereas, under water deficit stress condition,G5 was the best adaptive genotype at all five locations. In the same way, ranking of genotypes showed that the G5 was the ideal genotype under both conditions. So,it is concluded that the genotype G5(FH-326)was found best for water deficit stress condition and can be cultivated under water scarce areas of Punjab. | Muhammad Riaz Jehanzeb Farooq Saghir Ahmed Muhammad Amin Waqas Shafqat Chattha Maria Ayoub Riaz Ahmed Kainth | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,6: | 5
Synthesis and Characterization of Sulfonated Polyphosphazene-graft-Polystyrene Copolymers for Proton Exchange Membranes显示文摘A novel series of polyphosphazene-graft-polystyrene(PP-g-PS) copolymers were successfully prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) of styrene monomers and brominated poly(bis(4-methylphenoxy)phosphazene) macroinitiator. The graft density and the graft length could be regulated by changing the bromination degree of the macroinitiator and the ATRP reaction time, respectively. The PP-g-PS copolymers readily underwent a regioselective sulfonation reaction, which occurred preferentially at the polystyrene sites, producing the sulfonated PP-g-PS copolymers with a range of ion exchange capacities. The resulting sulfonated PP-g-PS membranes prepared by solution casting showed high water uptake, low water swelling and considerable proton conductivity. They also exhibited good oxidative stability and high resistance to methanol crossover. Morphological studies of the membranes by transmission electron microscopy showed clear nanophase-separated structures resulted from hydrophobic polyphosphazene backbone and hydrophilic polystyrene sulfonic acid segments, indicating the formation of proton transferring tunnels. Therefore, these sulfonated copolymers may be candidate materials for proton exchange membranes in direct methanol fuel cell(DMFC) applications. | Min-lan He Hu-lin Xu Yan Dong Jia-hong Xiao Peng Liu Feng-yan Fu Saghir Hussain Shu-zhen Zhang Chao-jun Jing Qun Yu 朱长进 | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Polymer Science2014,32,2: | 2
Genetic effects conferring heat tolerance in upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)显示文摘Background:Climate change and particularly global warming has emerged as an alarming threat to the crop productivity of field crops and exerted drastic effects on the cropping patterns.Production of cotton has been dropped down to one million bales from 1.4 million bales since 2015 in Pakistan due to the increase in temperature at critical growth stages,i.e.,flowering and boll formation.Keeping in view the importance of cotton in the country, this study was conducted to investigate the genetic effects conferring heat tolerance in six populations(P1,P2,F1,F2,BC1 and BC2)developed from cross-1 and cross-2,i.e.,VH-282×FH-142 and DNH-40×VH-259.Results:The results revealed that cross-1 performed better in heat stress as compared with cross-2 for majority of the traits recorded.Boll weight and ginning outturn(GO-T)were highly effected under heat stress and had negative correlation with Relative cell injury(RCI).Boll weight, fiber length, fiber strength and fiber fineness were under the control of non-additive gene action, whereas RCI was controlled by additive gene effects.Lower values of genetic advance coupled with higher values of broad sense heritability for these traits except RCI confirmed the role of non-additive genetic effects.Duplicate types of epistasis were recorded for fiber strength in cross-1 in normal condition. However, complementary type of non-allelic interaction was recorded for fiber strength under normal condition, fiber fineness and RCI under heat stressed condition in cross-1.Likewise,boll weight,GOT and fiber length in populations derived from cross-2 in normal condition were also under the influence of complementary type of non-allelic interaction.Significant differences among values of mid parent and better parent heterosis for boll weight in both normal and heat stress condition provided the opportunity to cotton breeders for utilization of this germplasm for improvement of this trait through exploitation of heterosis breeding.Conclusion:Cross-1 performed better in heat stress and could be utilized for development of heat tolerant cultivar.RCI was under the influence of additive gene action,so one can rely on this trait for screening of large number of accessions of cotton for heat stress. While other traits were predominantly controlled by non-additive gene action and selection based on these should be delayed in later generations. | SALMAN Muhammad ZIA Zia Ullah RANA Iqrar Ahmad MAQSOOD Rana Haroon AHMAD Saghir BAKHSH Ali AZHAR Muhammad Tehseen | 2019 | Journal of Cotton Research2019,2,1: | 2
