| 1 | Optimization of causative factors using logistic regression and artificial neural network models for landslide susceptibility assessment in Ujung Loe Watershed, South Sulawesi Indonesia显示文摘Landslide susceptibility maps(LSMs) play a vital role in assisting land use planning and risk mitigation. This study aims to optimize causative factors using logistic regression(LR) and an artificial neural network(ANN) to produce a LSM. The LSM is produced with 11 causative factors and then optimized using forward-stepwise LR(FSLR), ANN, and their combination(FSLR-ANN) until eight causative factors were found for each method. The ANN method produced superior validation results compared with LR. The ROC values for the training data set ranges between 0.8 and 0.9. On the other hand, validation with the percentage of landslide fall into LSM class high and very high, ANN method was higher(92.59%) than LR(82.12%). FSLR-ANN with nine causative factors gave the best validation results with respect to area under curve(AUC) values, and validation with the percentage of landslide fall into LSM class high and very high. In conclusion, ANN was found to be better than LR when producing LSMs. The best Optimization was combination of FSLR-ANN with nine causative factors and AUC success rate 0.847, predictive rate 0.844 and validation with landslide fall into high and very high class with 91.30%. | 3 | Carbon nanotubes:Evaluation of toxicity at biointerfaces显示文摘Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are a class of carbon allotropes with interesting properties that make them productive materials for usage in various disciplines of nanotechnology such as in electronics equipments, optics and therapeutics. They exhibit distinguished properties viz., strength, and high electrical and heat conductivity. Their uniqueness can be attributed due to the bonding pattern present between the atoms which are very strong and also exhibit high extreme aspect ratios. CNTs are classified as singlewalled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on the basis of number of sidewalls present and the way they are arranged spatially. Application of CNTs to improve the performance of many products, especially in healthcare, has led to an occupational and public exposure to these nanomaterials. Hence, it becomes a major concern to analyze the issues pertaining to the toxicity of CNTs and find the best suitable ways to counter those challenges. | 4 | Low-dose lipopolysaccharide as an immune regulator for homeostasis maintenance in the central nervous system through transformation to neuroprotective microglia显示文摘Microglia,which are tissue-resident macrophages in the brain,play a central role in the brain innate immunity and contribute to the maintenance of brain homeostasis.Lipopolysaccharide is a component of the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria,and activates immune cells including microglia via Toll-like receptor 4 signaling.Lipopolysaccharide is generally known as an endotoxin,as administration of highdose lipopolysaccharide induces potent systemic inflammation.Also,it has long been recognized that lipopolysaccharide exacerbates neuroinflammation.In contrast,our study revealed that oral administration of lipopolysaccharide ameliorates Alzheimer’s disease pathology and suggested that neuroprotective microglia are involved in this phenomenon.Additionally,other recent studies have accumulated evidence demonstrating that controlled immune training with low-dose lipopolysaccharide prevents neuronal damage by transforming the microglia into a neuroprotective phenotype.Therefore,lipopolysaccharide may not a mere inflammatory inducer,but an immunomodulator that can lead to neuroprotective effects in the brain.In this review,we summarized current studies regarding neuroprotective microglia transformed by immune training with lipopolysaccharide.We state that microglia transformed by lipopolysaccharide preconditioning cannot simply be characterized by their general suppression of proinflammatory mediators and general promotion of anti-inflammatory mediators,but instead must be described by their complex profile comprising various molecules related to inflammatory regulation,phagocytosis,neuroprotection,anti-apoptosis,and antioxidation.In addition,microglial transformation seems to depend on the dose of lipopolysaccharide used during immune training.Immune training of neuroprotective microglia using lowdose lipopolysaccharide,especially through oral lipopolysaccharide administration,may represent an innovative prevention or treatment for neurological diseases;however more vigorous studies are still required to properly modulate these treatments. | Haruka Mizobuchi Gen-Ichiro Soma | 2021 | Neural Regeneration Research2021,16,10: | 3 |
| 5 | CDEX-1 1 kg point-contact germanium detector for low mass dark matter searches显示文摘The CDEX collaboration has been established for direct detection of light dark matter particles, using ultra-low energy threshold point-contact p-type germanium detectors, in China JinPing underground Laboratory(CJPL). The first 1 kg point-contact germanium detector with a sub-keV energy threshold has been tested in a passive shielding system located in CJPL. The outputs from both the point-contact P + electrode and the outside N + electrode make it possible to scan the lower energy range of less than 1 keV and at the same time to detect the higher energy range up to 3 MeV. The outputs from both P + and N + electrode may also provide a more powerful method for signal discrimination for dark matter experiment. Some key parameters, including energy resolution, dead time, decay times of internal X-rays, and system stability, have been tested and measured. The results show that the 1 kg point-contact germanium detector, together with its shielding system and electronics, can run smoothly with good performances. | 6 | First results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from CDEX-1 experiment显示文摘We report the first results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from stage one of the China dark-matter experiment(CDEX).A p-type point-contact high-purity germanium detector with a mass of 994 g has been installed to detect neutrinoless double beta decay events, as well as to directly detect dark matter particles. An exposure of 304 kg d has been analyzed over a wide spectral band from 500 keV to 3 MeV. The average event rate obtained was about 0.012 counts per keV per kg per day over the 2.039 MeV energy range. The half-life of ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay derived based on this result is T^(0ν)1/2>6.4×10^(22) yr(90% C.L.).
