1Gut microbiome,liver immunology,and liver diseases显示文摘The gut microbiota is a complex and plastic consortium of microorganisms that are intricately connected with human physiology.The liver is a central immunological organ that is particularly enriched in innate immune cells and constantly exposed to circulating nutrients and endotoxins derived from the gut microbiota.The delicate interaction between the gut and liver prevents accidental immune activation against otherwise harmless antigens.Work on the interplay between the gut microbiota and liver has assisted in understanding the pathophysiology of various liver diseases.Of immense importance is the step from high-throughput sequencing(correlation)to mechanistic studies(causality)and therapeutic intervention.Here,we review the gut microbiota,liver immunology,and the interaction between the gut and liver.In addition,the impairment in the gut-liver axis found in various liver diseases is reviewed here,with an emphasis on alcohol-associated liver disease(ALD),nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and autoimmune liver disease(AILD).On the basis of growing evidence from these preclinical studies,we propose that the gut-liver axis paves the way for targeted therapeutic modalities for liver diseases.Rui Wang Ruqi Tang Bo Li Xiong Ma Bernd Schnabl Herbert Tilg 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,1:23
2The microbiome and autoimmunity: a paradigm from the gut–liver axis显示文摘Microbial cells significantly outnumber human cells in the body,and the microbial flora at mucosal sites are shaped by environmental factors and,less intuitively,act on host immune responses,as demonstrated by experimental data in germ-free and gnotobiotic studies.Our understanding of this link stems from the established connection between infectious bacteria and immune tolerance breakdown,as observed in rheumatic fever triggered by Streptococci via molecular mimicry,epitope spread and bystander effects.The availability of high-throughput techniques has significantly advanced our capacity to sequence the microbiome and demonstrated variable degrees of dysbiosis in numerous autoimmune diseases,including rheumatoid arthritis,type 1 diabetes,multiple sclerosis and autoimmune liver disease.It remains unknown whether the observed differences are related to the disease pathogenesis or follow the therapeutic and inflammatory changes and are thus mere epiphenomena.In fact,there are only limited data on the molecular mechanisms linking the microbiota to autoimmunity,and microbial therapeutics is being investigated to prevent or halt autoimmune diseases.As a putative mechanism,it is of particular interest that the apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells in response to microbial stimuli enables the presentation of self-antigens,giving rise to the differentiation of autoreactive Th17 cells and other T helper cells.This comprehensive review will illustrate the data demonstrating the crosstalk between intestinal microbiome and host innate and adaptive immunity,with an emphasis on how dysbiosis may influence systemic autoimmunity.In particular,a gut–liver axis involving the intestinal microbiome and hepatic autoimmunity is elucidated as a paradigm,considering its anatomic and physiological connections.Bo Li Carlo Selmi Ruqi Tang ME Gershwin Xiong Ma 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,6:15
3Development of a redundant anthropomorphic hydraulically actuated manipulator with a roll-pitch-yaw spherical wrist显示文摘The demand for redundant hydraulic manipulators that can implement complex heavy-duty tasks in unstructured areas is increasing;however,current manipulator layouts that remarkably differ from human arms make intuitive kinematic operation challenging to achieve.This study proposes a seven-degree-of-freedom(7-DOF)redundant anthropomorphic hydraulically actuated manipulator with a novel roll-pitch-yaw spherical wrist.A hybrid series-parallel mechanism is presented to achieve the spherical wrist design,which consists of two parallel linear hydraulic cylinders to drive the yaw/pitch 2-DOF wrist plate connected serially to the roll structure.Designed as a 1R£RRR-1S£U mechanism(“R”,“P”,“S”,and“U”denote revolute,prismatic,spherical,and universal joints,respectively;the underlined letter indicates the active joint),the 2-DOF parallel structure is partially decoupled to obtain simple forward/inverse kinematic solutions in which a closed-loop subchain“R£RR”is included.The 7-DOF manipulator is then designed,and its third joint axis goes through the spherical center to obtain closed-form inverse kinematic computation.The analytical inverse kinematic solution is drawn by constructing self-motion manifolds.Finally,a physical prototype is developed,and the kinematic analysis is validated via numerical simulation and test results.Min CHENG Zenan HAN Ruqi DING Junhui ZHANG Bing XU 2021Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2021,16,4:5
4Effect of Radial Resistance Gap on the Pressure Drop of a Compact Annular-Radial-Orifice Flow Magnetorheological Valve显示文摘A compact annular-radial-orifice flow magnetorheological(MR)valve was developed to investigate the effects of radial resistance gap on pressure drop.The fluid flow paths of this proposed MR valve consist of a single annular flow channel,a single radial flow channel and an orifice flow channel through structure design.The finite element modelling and simulation analysis of the MR valve was carried out using ANSYS/Emag software to investigate the changes of the magnetic flux density and yield stress along the fluid flow paths under the four different radial resistance gaps.Moreover,the experimental tests were also conducted to evaluate the pressure drop,showing that the proposed MR valve has significantly improved its pressure drop at 0.5 mm width of the radial resistance gap when the annular resistance gap is fixed at 1 mm.Guoliang Hu Jiawei Zhang Mingke Liao Ruqi Ding 2018Journal of Beijing Institute of Technology2018,27,4:4
5Structure Optimization and Performance Analysis of a Multiple Radial Magnetorheological Valve显示文摘Due to the controllable and reversible properties of the smart magnetorheological (MR) fluid,a novel multiple radial MR valve was developed. The fluid flowchannels of the proposed MR valve were mainly composed of two annular fluid flowchannels,four radial fluid flow channels and three centric pipe fluid flowchannels. The working principle of the multiple radial MR valve was introduced in detail,and the structure optimization design was carried out using ANSYS software to obtain the optimal structure parameters. Moreover,the optimized MR valve was compared with preoptimized MR valve in terms of their magnetic flux density of radial fluid resistance gap and performance of pressure drop. The experimental test rig was set up to investigate the performance of pressure drop of the proposed MR valve under different currents applied and different loading cases. The results showthat the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet port could reach 5. 77 MPa at the applied current of 0. 8 A. 6Intestinal homeostasis in autoimmune liver diseases显示文摘Intestinal homeostasis depends on complex interactions between the gut microbiota and host immune system.Emerging evidence indicates that the intestinal microbiota is a key player in autoimmune liver disease(AILD).Autoimmune hepatitis,primary biliary cholangitis,primary sclerosing cholangitis,and IgG4-related sclerosing cholangitis have been linked to gut dysbiosis.Diverse mechanisms contribute to disturbances in intestinal homeostasis in AILD.Bacterial translocation and molecular mimicry can lead to hepatic inflammation and immune activation.Additionally,the gut and liver are continuously exposed to microbial metabolic products,mediating variable effects on liver immune pathologies.Importantly,microbiota-specific or associated immune responses,either hepatic or systemic,are abnormal in AILD.Comprehensive knowledge about host-microbiota interactions,included but not limited to this review,facilitates novel clinical practice from a microbiome-based perspective.However,many challenges and controversies remain in the microbiota field of AILD,and there is an urgent need for future investigations.Qiaoyan Liu Wei He Ruqi Tang Xiong Ma 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,14:2
7Catalyst activation: Surface doping effects of group Ⅵ transition metal dichalcogenides towards hydrogen evolution reaction in acidic media显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D) transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs) have emerged as promising alternatives to the platinum-based catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER). The edge site of these2D materials exhibits HER-active properties, whereas the large-area basal plane is inactive.Therefore, recent studies and methodologies have been investigated to improve the performance of TMD-based materials by activating inactive sites through elemental doping strategies. In this review,we focus on the metal and non-metal dopant effects on group VI TMDs such as MoS_(2) MoSe_(2) WS_(2)and WSe_(2) for promoting HER performances in acidic electrolytes. A general introduction to the HER is initially provided to explain the parameters in accessing the catalytic performance of dopedTMDs. Then, synthetic methods for doped-TMDs and their HER performances are introduced in order to understand the effect of various dopants including metallic and non-metallic elements. 8Soft computing-based predictive modeling of flexible electrohydrodynamic pumps显示文摘Flexible electrohydrodynamic(EHD)pumps have been developed and applied in many fields due to no transmission structure,no wear,easy manipulation,and no noise.Physical simulation is often used to predict the output performance of flexible EHD pumps.However,this method neglects fluid–solid interaction and energy loss caused by flexible materials,which are both difficult to calculate when the flexible pumps deform.Therefore,this study proposes a flexible pump output performance prediction using machine learning algorithms.We used three different types of machine learning:random forest regression,ridge regression,and neural network to predict the critical parameters(pressure,flow rate,and power)of the flexible EHD pump.Voltage,angle,gap,overlap,and channel height are selected as five input data of the neural network.In addition,we optimized essential parameters in the three networks.Finally,we adopt the best predictive model and evaluate the significance of five input parameters to the output performance of the flexible EHD pumps.Among the three methods,the MLP model has exceptionally high accuracy in predicting pressure and flow.Our work is beneficial for the design process of fluid sources in flexible soft actuators and soft hydraulic sources in microfluidic chips.Zebing Mao Yanhong Peng Chenlong Hu Ruqi Ding Yuhei Yamada Shingo Maeda 2023Biomimetic Intelligence & Robotics2023,3,3:2

16High frequency performance of nano-scale ultra-thin-body Schottky-barrier n-MOSFETs显示文摘The high frequency performances of nano-scale ultra-thin-body (UTB) Schottky-barrier n-MOSFETs (SB-nMOSFETs) are investigated using 2D full-band self-consistent ensemble Monte Carlo method. The UTB SB-nMOSFET devices offer excellent RF performance with high values of f T and f max.The significant dependence of f T and f max on gate voltage and weak dependence on barrier height are demonstrated.Meanwhile,the significant dependence of g m and g ds on both gate voltage and SB height are shown. Moreover,the scalability of f T is outstanding and close to the ideal case (f T ∝ 1/L2g ). The high frequency performances of 45 nm channel length SB-nMOSFETs at ballistic transport limit are also investigated.
