3Progress in Severe Convective Weather Forecasting in China since the 1950s显示文摘Located in the Asian monsoon region, China frequently experiences severe convective weather(SCW), such as short-duration heavy rainfall(SDHR), thunderstorm high winds, hails, and occasional tornadoes. Progress in SCW forecasting in China is closely related to the construction and development of meteorological observation networks,especially weather radar and meteorological satellite networks. In the late 1950 s, some county-level meteorological bureaus began to conduct empirical hail forecasting based on observations of clouds and surface meteorological variables. It took over half a century to develop a modern comprehensive operational monitoring and warning system for SCW forecast nationwide since the setup of the first weather radar in 1959. The operational SCW forecasting, including real-time monitoring, warnings valid for tens of minutes, watches valid for several hours, and outlooks covering lead times of up to three days, was established in 2009. Operational monitoring and forecasting of thunderstorms,SDHR, thunderstorm high winds, and hails have been carried out. 4Flavanols from the Camellia sinensis var.assamica and their hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activities显示文摘α-Glucosidase and lipase inhibitors play important roles in the treatment of hyperglycaemia and dyslipidemia. To identify novel naturally occurring inhibitors, a bioactivity-guided phytochemical research was performed on the pu-erh tea. One new flavanol, named(–)-epicatechin-3-O-(Z)-coumarate(1), and 16 known analogs(2–17) were isolated from the aqueous extract of the pu-erh tea. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic and chemical methods. Furthermore, the water extract of pu-erh tea and its fractions exhibited inhibitory activities against α-glucosidases and lipases in vitro;compound 15 showed moderate inhibitory effect against sucrase with an IC_(50) value of 32.5 μmol/L and significant inhibitory effect against maltase with an IC_(50) value of 1.3 μmol/L. 5Classification and Diurnal Variations of Precipitation Echoes Observed by a C-band Vertically-Pointing Radar in Central Tibetan Plateau during TIPEX-Ⅲ 2014-IOP显示文摘This study investigates classification and diurnal variations of the precipitation echoes over the central Tibetan Plateau based on the observations collected from a C-band vertically-pointing frequency-modulated continuous-wave(C-FMCW)radar during the Third Tibetan Plateau Atmospheric Scientific Experiment(TIPEX-Ⅲ)2014-Intensive Observation Period(2014-IOP).The results show that 51.32%of the vertical profiles have valid echoes with reflectivity>–10 dBZ,and 35.06% of the valid echo profiles produce precipitation at the ground(precipitation profiles);stratiform precipitation with an evident bright-band signature,weak convective precipitation,and strong convective precipitation account for 52.03%,42.98%,and 4.99% of the precipitation profiles,respectively.About 59.84% of the precipitation occurs in the afternoon to midnight,while 40.16% of the precipitation with weaker intensity is observed in the nocturnal hours and in the morning.Diurnal variation of occurrence frequency of precipitation shows a major peak during 2100–2200 LST(local solar time)with 59.02%being the stratiform precipitation;the secondary peak appears during 1300–1400 LST with 59.71% being the weak convective precipitation;the strong convective precipitation occurs mostly(81.83%)in the afternoon and evening with two peaks over 1200–1300 and 1700–1800 LST,respectively.Starting from approximately 1100 LST,precipitation echoes develop with enhanced vertical air motion,elevated echo top,and increasing radar reflectivity.Intense upward air motion occurs most frequently in 1700–1800 LST with a secondary peak in 1100–1400 LST,while the tops of precipitation echoes and intense upward air motion reach their highest levels during 1600–1800 LST.The atmospheric conditions in the early morning are disadvantageous for convective initiation and development.Around noon,the convective available potential energy(CAPE)increases markedly,convective inhibition(CIN)is generally small,and a super-dry-adiabatic layer is present near the surface(0–400 m).In the early evening,some larger values of CAPE,level of neutral buoyancy,and total precipitable water are present,suggesting more favorable thermodynamic and water vapor conditions.Ruoyun MA Yali LUO Hui WANG 2018Journal of Meteorological Research2018,32,6:2

7An Assessment of the Predictability of the East Asian Subtropical Westerly Jet Based on TIGGE Data显示文摘The predictability of the position, spatial coverage and intensity of the East Asian subtropical westerly jet(EASWJ) in the summers of 2010 to 2012 was examined for ensemble prediction systems(EPSs) from four representative TIGGE centers,including the ECMWF, the NCEP, the CMA, and the JMA. Results showed that each EPS predicted all EASWJ properties well, while the levels of skill of all EPSs declined as the lead time extended. Overall, improvements from the control to the ensemble mean forecasts for predicting the EASWJ were apparent. For the deterministic forecasts of all EPSs, the prediction of the average axis was better than the prediction of the spatial coverage and intensity of the EASWJ. ECMWF performed best, with a lead of approximately 0.5–1 day in predictability over the second-best EPS for all EASWJ properties throughout the forecast range. For probabilistic forecasts, differences in skills among the different EPSs were more evident in the earlier part of the forecast for the EASWJ axis and spatial coverage, while they departed obviously throughout the forecast range for the intensity. ECMWF led JMA by about 0.5–1 day for the EASWJ axis, and by about 1–2 days for the spatial coverage and intensity at almost all lead times. The largest lead of ECMWF over the relatively worse EPSs, such as NCEP and CMA, was approximately 3–4 days for all EASWJ properties. 16Effects of Fuhe decoction on behaviors and monoamine neurotransmitters in different brain regions of CUMS combined with social isolation depression model rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effect of Fuhe decoction on the behavior and levels of monoamine neurotransmitters in different brain regions in a depression rat model induced by chronic unpredictable mild stimulation(CUMS)combined with social isolation.Methods:Fifty male SD rats were randomly divided into a blank group,model group,fluoxetine group,Chaiqinwendan decoction group,and Fuhe decoction group.Chronic unpredictable mild stimulation combined with a social isolation method was used to replicate the depression rat model.After 42 days of administration,a tail suspension test and high-performance liquid electrochemical detection(HPLC-ECD)were used to detect the behavioral changes and changes in the content of monoamine neurotransmitters norepinephrine(NE),dopamine(DA),5-hydroxytrytamine(5-HT),and metabolites in different brain regions of rats in each group before and after treatment.Results:Compared with the model group,the epinephrine(E)content in the Fuhe decoction group was highly significantly increased(P<.01).Compared with the model group,the 5-HT content of the prefrontal cortex in rats in the Fuhe decoction group was highly significantly increased(P<.01).Furthermore,compared with the model group,the 5-HT content in the hippocampus of rats in the Fuhe decoction group was significantly increased(P<.05).Conclusion:Fuhe decoction can improve the depression-like behaviors of model rats,and its antidepressant effect may be related to the increase in 5-HT content in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus of rats.Ruoyun Zheng Weifeng Xiong Juan He Xu Wang Ranran Wang Yu Hao 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2020,7,3:1

19Application of an Improved Analog-Based Heavy Precipitation Forecast Model to the Yangtze–Huai River Valley and Its Performance in June–July 2020显示文摘Precipitation extremes,such as the record-breaking Meiyu characterized by frequent occurrences of rainstorms that resulted in severe flooding over the Yangtze-Huai River valley(YHRV)in June-July 2020,are always attracting considerable interest,highlighting the importance of improving the forecast accuracy at the medium-to-long range.To elevate the skill in forecasting heavy precipitation events(HPEs)with both long and short durations,the Key Influential Systems Based Analog Model(KISAM)was further improved and brought into operational application in 2020.Verification and comparison of this newly adapted analog model and ensemble mean forecasts from the ECMWF at lead times of up to 15 days were carried out for the identified 16 HPEs over the YHRV in June-July 2020.The results demonstrate that KISAM is advantageous over ECMWF ensemble mean for forecasts of heavy precipitation≥25 mm day-1 at the medium-to-long(6-15-day)lead times,based on the traditional dichotomous metrics.At short lead times,ECMWF ensemble mean outperforms KISAM due largely to the low false alarm rates(FARs)benefited from an underestimation of the frequency of heavy precipitation.However,at the medium-to-long forecast range,the large fraction of misses induced by the high degree of underforecasting overwhelms the fairly good FARs in the ECMWF ensemble mean,which partly explains its inferiority to KISAM in terms of the threat score.Further assessment on forecasts of the latitudinal location of accumulated heavy precipitation indicates that smaller displacement errors also account for a part of the better performance of KISAM at lead times of 8-12 days.Baiquan ZHOU Panmao ZHAI Ruoyun NIU 2021Journal of Meteorological Research2021,35,6:1
