1Mineral photoelectrons and their implications for the origin and early evolution of life on Earth显示文摘Energy is the key issue of all life activities.The energy source and energy yielding pathway are the key scientific issues of the origin and early evolution of life on Earth.Current researches indicate that the utilization of solar energy in large scale by life was an important breaking point of the early evolution of life on Earth and afterwards life gradually developed and flourished.However,in the widespread biochemical electron transfer of life activities,it is still not clear whether the electron source is sun or how electrons originated from sun.For billions of years,the ubiquitous semiconducting minerals in epigeosphere absorb solar energy,forming photoelectrons and photoholes.In reductive and weak acidic environment of early Earth,when photoholes were easily scavenged by reducing matters,photoelectrons were separated.Photoelectrons could effectively reduce carbon dioxide to organic matters,possibly providing organic matter foundation for the origin of life.Photoelectrons participated in photoelectron transfer chains driven by potential difference and transfer into primitive cells to maintain metabolisms.Semiconducting minerals,by absorbing ultraviolet,also protected primitive cells from being damaged by ultraviolet in the origin of life.Due to the continuous photoelectrons generation in semiconducting minerals and utilization by primitive cells,photoelectrons from semiconducting minerals’photocatalysis played multiple roles in the origin of life on early Earth,such as organic synthesis,cell protection,and energy supply.This mechanism still plays important roles in modern Earth surface systems.LU AnHuai WANG Xin LI Yan DING HongRui WANG ChangQiu ZENG CuiPing HAO RuiXia YANG XiaoXue 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,5:5

3Biodegradation of heavy oils by halophilic bacterium显示文摘A halophilic bacterial strain TM-1 was isolated from the reservoir of the Shengli oil field in East China. Strain TM-1, which was found to be able to degrade crude oils, is a gram-positive non-motile bacterium with a coccus shape that can grow at temperatures of up to 58 °C and in 18% NaCl solution. Depending on the culture conditions, the organism may occur in tetrads. In addition, strain TM-1 produced acid from glucose without gas formation and was catalase-negative. Furthermore, strain TM-1 was found to be a facultative aerobe capable of growth under anaerobic conditions. Moreover, it produced butylated hydroxytoluene, 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid-bis ester and dibutyl phthalate and could use different organic substrates. Laboratory studies indicated that strain TM-1 affected different heavy oils by degrading various components and by changing the chemical properties of the oils. 4Evolution of permafrost in Northeast Chinasince the Late Pleistocene显示文摘In Northeast China, permafrost advanced and retreated several times under the influences of fluctuating paleo-climates and paleo-environments since the Late Pleistocene. During the last 60 years, many new data were obtained and studies were conducted on the evolution of permafrost in Northeast China, but so far no systematic summary and review have been made. Based on sedimentary sequences, remains of past permafrost, paleo-flora and-fauna records, and dating data, permafrost evolution since the Late Pleistocene has been analyzed and reconstructed in this paper. Paleo-temperatures reconstructed from the remains of past permafrost and those from paleo-flora and-fauna are compared, and thus the southern limit of permafrost(SLP) in each climate period is inferred by the relationship of the permafrost distribution and the mean annual air/ground temperatures(MAAT/MAGT). Thus, the evolutionary history of permafrost is here divided into five stages:(1) the Late Pleistocene(Last Glaciation, or LG)(65 to 10–8.5 ka), the Last Glaciation Maximum(LGM, 21–13 ka) in particular, the coldest period in the latest history with a cooling of about 6~10 ?C, characterized by extensive occurrences of glaciation, flourishing Mammathas-Coelodonta Faunal Complex(MCFC), widespread aeolian deposits, and significant sea level lowering, and permafrost greatly expanded southwards almost to the coastal plains(37?N–41?N);(2) the Holocene Megathermal Period(HMP, 8.5–7.0 to 4.0–3.0 ka), 3~5 ?C warmer than today, permafrost retreated to about 52°N;(3) the Late Holocene Cold Period(Neoglaciation)(4.0–3.0 to 1.0–0.5 ka), a cooling of 1~3 ?C, some earlier thawed permafrost was refrozen or attached, and the SLP invaded southwards to 46?N;(4) the Little Ice Age(LIA, 500 to 100–150 a), the latest cold period with significant permafrost expansion; and(5) climate warming since the last century, during which Northeast China has undergone extensive permafrost degradation. The frequent and substantial expansions and retreats of permafrost have greatly impacted cold-region environments in Northeast China. North of the SLP during the HMP, or in the present continuous permafrost zone, the existing permafrost was largely formed during the LG and was later overlapped by the permafrost formed in the Neoglaciation. To the south, it was formed in the Neoglaciation. However, many aspects of permafrost evolution still await further investigations, such as data integration, numerical reconstruction, and merging of Chinese permafrost history with those of bordering regions as well as collaboration with related disciplines. 5Evolution and changes of permafrost on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau during the Late Quaternary显示文摘Due to the uplift of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP), the cryosphere gradually developed on the higher mountain summits after the Neocene, becoming widespread during the Late Quaternary. During this time, permafrost on the QTP experienced repeated expansion and degradation. Based on the remains and cross-correlation with other proxy records such as those from glacial landforms, ice-core and paleogeography, the evolution and changes of permafrost and environmental changes on the QTP during the past 150,000 years were deduced and are presented in this paper. At least four obvious cycles of the extensive and intensive development, expansion and decay of permafrost occurred during the periods of 150–130, 80–50, 30–14 and after 10.8 ka B.P.. During the Holocene, fluctuating climatic environments affected the permafrost on the QTP, and the peripheral mountains experienced six periods of discernible permafrost changes:(1) Stable development of permafrost in the early Holocene(10.8 to 8.5–7.0 ka B.P.);(2) Intensive permafrost degradation during the Holocene Megathermal Period(HMP, from 8.5–7.0 to 4.0–3.0 ka B.P.);(3) Permafrost expansion during the early Neoglacial period(ca. 4,000–3,000 to 1,000 a B.P.);(4) Relative degradation during the Medieval Warm Period(MWP, from 1,000 to 500 a B.P.);(5) Expansion of permafrost during the Little Ice Age(LIA, from 500 to 100 a B.P.);(6) Observed and predicted degradation of permafrost during the 20 th and 21 st century. Each period differed greatly in paleoclimate, paleoenvironment, and permafrost distribution, thickness, areal extent, and ground temperatures, as well as in the development of periglacial phenomena. Statistically, closer dating of the onset permafrost formation, more identification of permafrost remains with richer proxy information about paleoenvironment, and more dating information enable higher resolution for paleo-permafrost reconstruction. Based on the scenarios of persistent climate warming of 2.2~2.6 °C in the next 50 years, and in combination of the monitored trends of climate and permafrost changes, and model predictions suggest an accelerated regional degradation of plateau permafrost. Therefore, during the first half of the 21 st century, profound changes in the stability of alpine ecosystems and hydro(geo)logical environments in the source regions of the Yangtze and Yellow rivers may occur. 6Effects of organic strength on performance of microbial electrolysis cell fed with hydrothermal liquefied wastewater显示文摘Microbial electrochemical technology has drawn increasing attention for the treatment of recalcitrant wastewater as well as production of energy or value-added chemicals recently.However,the study on the treatment of hydrothermal liquefied wastewater(HTL-WW)using microbial electrolysis cell(MEC)is still in its infancy.This study focused on the effects of organic loading rates(OLRs)on the treatment efficiency of recalcitrant HTL-WW and hydrogen production via the MEC.In general,the chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal rate was more than 71.74%at different initial OLRs.Specially,up to 83.84%of COD removal rate was achieved and the volatile fatty acids were almost degraded at the initial OLR of 2 g COD/L·d in the anode of MEC.The maximum hydrogen production rate was 3.92 mL/L·d in MEC cathode,corresponding to a hydrogen content of 7.10%at the initial OLR of 2 g COD/L·d.And in the anode,the maximum methane production rate of 826.87 mL/L·d was reached with its content of 54.75%at the initial OLR of 10 g COD/L·d.Analysis of electrochemical properties showed that the highest open circuit voltage of 0.48 V was obtained at the initial OLR of 10 g COD/L·d,and the maximum power density(1546.22 mW/m3)as well as the maximum coulombic efficiency(6.01%)were obtained at the initial OLR of 8 g COD/L·d.GC-MS analysis revealed the existence of phenols and heterocyclic matters in the HTL-WW,such as 1-acetoxynonadecane and 2,4-bis(1-phenylethyl)-phenol.These recalcitrant compounds in HTL-WW were efficiently removed via MEC,which was probably due to the combination effect of microbial community and electrochemistry in MEC anode.Shen Ruixia Lu Jianwen Zhu Zhangbing Duan Na Lu Haifeng Yuanhui Zhang Liu Zhidan 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,3:2

8Treatment of recalcitrant wastewater and hydrogen production via microbial electrolysis cells显示文摘A large amount of real complex wastewaters are generated every year,which leads to a great environmental burden.Various treatment technologies were deployed to remove the contaminants in the wastewaters.However,these actual wastewaters have not been sufficiently treated due to their complex properties,high-concentration organics,incomplete utilization of hard-biodegradable substrates,the high energy input required,etc.Recently,microbial electrolysis cells(MECs),a great potential technology,has emerged for various wastewater treatment,because not only do they demonstrate satisfactory performance during wastewater treatment,but they also generate renewable H2 as a clean energy carrier.Unlike previous reviews,this review introduced the characteristics of every complicated wastewater,and focused on analyzing and summarizing MEC development for wastewater treatment.The performances of MECs were systematically reviewed in terms of organics removal,H2 production,Columbic efficiency,and energy efficiency.MEC performances for treating actual complex wastewaters and producing H2 can be optimized through operation parameters,electrode materials,catalyst materials,etc.In addition,the challenges and opportunities including complexity of wastewaters,instability of H2 production,robust microorganisms,effect of membrane on two-chamber MEC,and integration of MEC with other treatment processes were deeply discussed.Except for the technical feasibility,both environmental feasibility and economic feasibility also need to meet social requirements.This review can indeed provide a basis for high-efficiency treatment and practical commercial applications of recalcitrant wastewaters via MECs in the future.Ruixia Shen Lixin Zhao Jianwen Lu Jamison Watson Buchun Si Xi Chen Haibo Meng Zonglu Yao Jing Feng Zhidan Liu 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,5:1

11The Relationship Between Vegetation Characteristics and Altitudes in Transitional Permafrost Zone in Xidatan, Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Many studies showed that permafrost has profound influence on alpine ecosystem. However, former researches were mainly focused on typical points by temporal scales. There were few studies about the correlation between vegetation characteristics and different altitudes covering a large region in spatial pattern, especially in transitional permafrost(TP). There were continuous permafrost(CP) discontinuous permafrost(DCP) and seasonal frozen ground(SFG) in this study region. The types of permafrost changed from SFG to DCP, and finally become CP as the altitudes of Xidatan increase. In this paper, 112 845 points interpreted by HJ1-B(environment and disaster monitoring and prediction small satellite constellation), vegetation investigation points, thawing layer thickness research sites, ground temperature and water content observation plots were used to examine the spatial pattern of vegetation which were located in different altitudes in Xidatan, a typical TP region, in Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Vegetation characteristics, soil moisture content(SMC) and thaw depths were collected in 15 August to 25 August2012. Characteristics of vegetation were mainly represented by fractional vegetation cover(FVC) derived from the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI), as well as above ground biomass(AGB). In this paper, we analyzed that the distinction of vegetation characteristics in each range through statistics data. These ranges were divided by varied altitudes. For examples, the ranges were divided into 50 m or 100 m. In this study we use a large area plots method to further discuss the relationship between the features of vegetation and the different regions of permafrost based on altitudes shifts in Xidatan. A diagram described the vegetation characteristics variability with rising altitudes in transitional permafrost region was drawn in this paper. Our results illustrated the FVCs first increased in SFG region and then decreased in DCP zone slowly, and in CP region FVCs soared then dropped dramatically. 12Single-cell analysis of transcription factor regulatory networks reveals molecular basis for subtype-specific dysregulation in acute myeloid leukemia显示文摘Highly heterogeneous acute myeloid leukemia(AML)exhibits dysregulated transcriptional programs.Transcription factor(TF)regulatory networks underlying AML subtypes have not been elucidated at single-cell resolution.Here,we comprehensively mapped malignancy-related TFs activated in different AML subtypes by analyzing single-cell RNA sequencing data from AMLs and healthy donors.We first identified six modules of regulatory networks which were prevalently dysregulated in all AML patients.AML subtypes featured with different malignant cellular composition possessed subtype-specific regulatory TFs associated with differentiation suppression or immune modulation.At last,we validated that ERF was crucial for the development of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells by performing loss-and gain-of-function experiments in zebrafish embryos.Collectively,our work thoroughly documents an abnormal spectrum of transcriptional regulatory networks in AML and reveals subtype-specific dysregulation basis,which provides a prospective view to AML pathogenesis and potential targets for both diagnosis and therapy.Ruixia Sun Lina Sun Xiaowei Xie Xuan Li Peng Wu Lu Wang Ping Zhu 2022Blood Science2022,4,2:0
13Effect of Fertilizing Amount and Planting Density on Yield and Qual-ity of Strong-gluten Wheat Taishan 27显示文摘To get the cultivation pattern featured by improved varieties and fine methods for strong-gluten and high-yielding wheat variety Taishan 27,this paper used Taishan 27 as material to study the effect of fertilizing amount and planting density on yield and quality of material.The results showed that Taishan 27 had high yield under fertilizing amount of 225 kg/ha pure nitrogen and planting density of 240 × 104-300× 10~4/ha; the yield was lowest under fertilizing amount of 300 kg/ha pure nitrogen and planting density of 360 × 10~4/ha. 14Temporal changes in the characteristics of algae in Dianchi Lake,Yunnan Province,China显示文摘Algal blooms have become a worldwide environmental concern due to water eutrophication.Dianchi Lake in Yunnan Province,China is suffering from severe eutrophication and is listed in the Three Important Lakes Restoration Act of China.Hydrothermal liquefaction allows a promising and direct conversion of algal biomass into biocrude oil.In this study,algal samples were collected from Dianchi Lake after a separation procedure including dissolved air flotation with polyaluminum chloride and centrifugation during four months,April,June,August and October.The algal biochemical components varied over the period;lipids from 0.7%to 2.1%ash-free dry weight(afdw),protein from 20.9%to 33.4%afdw and ash from 36.6%to 45.2%dry weight.The algae in June had the highest lipid and protein concentrations,leading to a maximum biocrude oil yield of 24.3%afdw.Biodiversity analysis using pyrosequencing revealed different distributions of microbial communities,specifically Microcystis in April(89.0%),June(63.7%)and August(84.0%),and Synechococcus in April(2.2%),June(12.0%)and August(1.0%).This study demonstrated remarkable temporal changes in the biochemical composition and biodiversity of algae harvested from Dianchi Lake and changes in biocrude oil production potential.Ruixia SHEN Chunyan TIAN Zhidan LIU Yuanhui ZHANG Baoming LI Haifeng LU Na DUAN 2015Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2015,2,3:0
