1Total mesopancreas excision for pancreatic head cancer: analysis of 120 cases显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of total mesopancreas excision(TMpE) in the treatment of pancreatic head cancer. Methods: The clinical and pathological data of 120 patients with pancreatic head cancer who had undergone TMpE in our center from May 2010 to January 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The mean operative time was(275.0±50.2) min and the average intra-operative blood loss was(390.0±160.5) mL. Post-operative complications were reported in 45 patients, while no peri-operative death was noted. The specimen margins were measured in three dimensions, and 86 patients(71.6%) achieved R0 resection. 2Impact of insect-resistant GM rice on pesticide use and farmers' health in China显示文摘The economic benefits of insect-resistant genetically modified(GM) crops have been well documented, but the impact of such crops and the consequent reduction in pesticide use on farmers' health remains largely unknown. Through the analysis of the data collected from the physical examination from farmers in China, we show that GM rice significantly reduces pesticide use and the resultant not only visible but also invisible adverse effects on farmers' neurological, hematological, and electrolyte system. 14Genetically modified(GM)rice versus non-GM rice:Pesticide use and yield显示文摘Dear Editor,The economic benefits of genetically modified(GM)crops have been well-documented in the literature(Huang et al.,2002;Huang et al.,2005;Qiao,2015;Qiao et al.,2016).Previous studies showed that the global economic gain that the GM crops had generated at the farm level approximated 100 billion USD in 1996-2011(Brookes and Barfoot,2013).More importantly,this significant benefit had helped dozens of millions of farmers,with most of them being small poor farmers in developing countries.Given their high profitability and other benefits,GM crops had been widely adopted in the world.By 2015,the cumulative sown area for GM crops reached 2 billion hm2,with GM crops being grown in 28 countries(James,2015).Fangbin Qiao Ruifa Hu Jikun Huang 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,5:1
