| 1 | Interdecadal change of summer precipitation over Eastern China around the late-1990s and associated circulation anomalies,internal dynamical causes显示文摘Observational study indicated that the summer precipitation over Eastern China experienced a notable interdecadal change around the late-1990s. Accompanying this interdecadal change, the dominant mode of anomalous precipitation switched from a meridional triple pattern to a dipole pattern, showing a 'south-flood-north-drought' structure (with the exception of the Yangtze River Valley). This interdecadal change of summer precipitation over Eastern China was associated with circulation anomalies in the middle/upper troposphere over East Asia, such as changes in winds and corresponding divergence, vertical motion and moisture transportation (divergence), which all exhibit remarkable meridional dipole structures. Furthermore, on the internal dynamic and thermodynamic aspects, the present study investigated the influence of the midtroposphere zonal and meridional flow changes over East Asia on the interdecadal change around the late-1990s. Results suggested that, during 1999-2010, the East Asia subtropical westerly jet weakened and shifted poleward, forming a meridional dipole feature in anomalous zonal flow. This anomalous zonal flow, on one hand, induced changes in three teleconnection patterns over the Eurasian continent, namely the 'Silk Road' pattern along the subtropical upper troposphere westerly jet, the East Asia/Pacific (EAP) pattern along the East Asian coast, and the Eurasia (EU) pattern along the polar jet; on the other hand, it brought about cold advection over Northern China, and warm advection over Southern China in the mid-troposphere. | 3 | Advances in studying interactions between aerosols and monsoon in China显示文摘Scientific issues relevant to interactions between aerosols and the Asian monsoon climate were discussed and evaluated at the 33 rd 'Forum of Science and Technology Frontiers' sponsored by the Department of Earth Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Major results are summarized in this paper. The East Asian monsoon directly affects aerosol transport and provides a favorable background circulation for the occurrence and development of persistent fog-haze weather. Spatial features of aerosol transport and distribution are also influenced by the East Asian monsoon on seasonal, inter-annual, and decadal scales. High moisture levels in monsoon regions also affect aerosol optical and radiative properties. Observation analyses indicate that cloud physical properties and precipitation are significantly affected by aerosols in China with aerosols likely suppressing local light and moderate rainfall, and intensifying heavy rainfall in southeast coastal regions. However, the detailed mechanisms behind this pattern still need further exploration. The decadal variation in the East Asian monsoon strongly affects aerosol concentrations and their spatial patterns. The weakening monsoon circulation in recent decades has likely helped to increase regional aerosol concentrations. The substantial increase in Chinese air pollutants has likely decreased the temperature difference between land and sea, which favors intensification of the weakening monsoon circulation. | 4 | A data-driven health indicator extraction method for aircraft air conditioning system health monitoring显示文摘Prognostics and Health Management(PHM) has become a very important tool in modern commercial aircraft. Considering limited built-in sensing devices on the legacy aircraft model,one of the challenges for airborne system health monitoring is to find an appropriate health indicator that is highly related to the actual degradation state of the system. This paper proposed a novel health indicator extraction method based on the available sensor parameters for the health monitoring of Air Conditioning System(ACS) of a legacy commercial aircraft model. Firstly, a specific Airplane Condition Monitoring System(ACMS) report for ACS health monitoring is defined. Then a non-parametric modeling technique is adopted to calculate the health indicator based on the raw ACMS report data. The proposed method is validated on a single-aisle commercial aircraft widely used for short and medium-haul routes, using more than 6000 ACMS reports collected from a fleet of aircraft during one year. | 6 | Oil maturity assessment using maturity indicators based on methylated dibenzothiophenes显示文摘Aromatic fractions of 140 oils and condensates that originated from different types of source rocks(marine shale, terrestrial shale and marine carbonate) were analyzed using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS) to investigate the relative distributions of methylated dibenzothiophenes with respect to thermal maturity. The positions of methyl groups of trimethyldibenzothiophene isomers(TMDBTs) including those used in the definition of maturity indicator TMDBT index in previous studies were firmly identified by co-elution of internal standards in GC–MS analysis and by comparing with reported retention indices. A new maturity ratio related to dimethyldibenzothiophenes(DMDBTs) is proposed on the basis of the differences in thermodynamic stability among different DMDBT isomers. Another maturity index(TMDBT-I2) based on TMDBTs is also suggested on the basis of our empirical observations and presumed thermodynamic stability of TMDBT isomers. These two newly proposed(2,6 + 3,6)-/1,4-DMDBT ratio and TMDBT-I2 correlate well with MDR(4-/1-methyldibenzothiophene) and 2,4-/1,4-DMDBT ratios, suggesting their common chemical reaction mechanisms and similar behavior with increasing maturity. Therefore, they can be effectively applied for maturity assessments. Furthermore, the TMDBTs related maturity parameters are more reliable for over-mature oils and condensates due to the relatively higher concentrations of thermodynamically unstable TMDBT isomers, i.e. 1,4,6-, 1,4,8- and 3,4,6-TMDBT in this study than those of 1-methyldibenzothiophene(1-MDBT) or 1,4-DMDBT. In contrast with 4,6-/1,4-DMDBT, the newly proposed(2,6 + 3,6)-/1,4-DMDBT ratios for oils that originated from different types of source rocks have approximately same relationship with the oil maturity(Rc %). This suggests that the lithology and organic facies may have relatively less influence on(2,6 + 3,6)-/1,4-DMDBT ratio compared to 4,6-/1,4-DMDBT. | 7 | Response of water budget to recent climatic changes in the source region of the Yellow River显示文摘Discharge in the source region of the Yellow River significantly declined after 1990.China Meteorological Administration(CMA) data show that precipitation in this region was low in the 1990s but returned to above normal after 2002;in recent decades there has been rapid warming of surface air,moistening and wind speed decrease.To investigate the influences of recent climatic changes on the water budget,this study simulates the surface water budget at CMA stations within and surrounding the source region during 1960-2006,using an improved land surface model.Results indicate that the spatial pattern of precipitation change is an important factor(except for precipitation amount and intensity) in determining the response of runoff to precipitation changes.Low runoff in the 1990s was consistent with precipitation amount and intensity.The recovery of precipitation after 2002 is mainly from increased precipitation in the dry area of the source region.Evaporation was mainly limited by water availability in this dry area,and thus most of the precipitation increase was evaporated.By contrast,energy availability was a more important influence on evaporation in the wet area.There was more evaporation in the wet area because of rapid warming,although precipitation amount partly decreased and partly increased,contributing to the reduction of runoff after 2002.This control on evaporation and its response,together with the modified spatial pattern of precipitation,produced a water budget unfavorable for runoff generation in the source region during recent years. | ZHOU DeGang HUANG RongHui | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,17: | 12 |
| 8 | Great progress in study on aerosol and its impact on the global environment显示文摘The transport from atmosphere is a more important pathway than that from rivers for certain elements and compounds in the remote ocean. The desert and those arid/semi-arid areas in the northwest of China and the Loess Plateau are the sources of those aerosols over the Pacific. Atmospheric iron is the limiting factor of the productivity in certain ocean regions. The dust storms must now be seen as repeated sources of pollution elements as well as soil elements to the East China Sea and, farther out, to the North Pacific Ocean and even to the USA. The long-range transport of aerosols, especially the dust storm, from China and the positive feedbacks of iron coupled with sulfur in atmosphere might be one of the important mechanisms that would affect the primary productivity in the Pacific and/or the global climate change and deserve to be further studied. | 10 | Development of Light Cycle Oil(LCO) Hydrocracking Technology over a Commercial W-Ni Based Catalyst显示文摘Because of its high density and low cetane number, the light cycle oil(LCO) containing heavy aromatics(60%—80%) can hardly be transformed through the conventional hydro-upgrading technology. In this report, a novel LCO hydrocracking technology(FD2G) was proposed for the utilization of LCO to manufacture high value-added products. Through the ingenious combination of hydroprocessing catalyst and the hydrocracking process, the high octane gasoline and the ultra-low sulfur diesel(ULSD) blendstocks were produced simultaneously. The influence of catalyst type, reaction temperature, pressure, respectively, on the research octane number(RON) of produced gasoline was studied in a fixed bed hydrogenation reactor. It indicated that high reaction temperature and medium pressure would favor the production of highoctane gasoline through the conversion of bi-aromatic and tri-aromatic hydrocarbons. The typical results of FD2 G technology on commercial units showed that it could produce clean diesel with a sulfur content of less than 10 μg/g and clean gasoline with a research octane number(RON) of up to 92. | 11 | Characterization of turbulent flux transfer over a Gobi surface with quality-controlled observations显示文摘This study evaluates the spatial distributions in the quality of momentum and sensible heat fluxes,and determines the turbulent transfer characteristics with quality-controlled observations.The research is based on raw turbulence data collected over a Gobi surface in the Dunhuang area in June 2004.The results indicate that part of the momentum fluxes are of poor quality in the daytime and nighttime.The poor quality of the momentum fluxes in the daytime is mainly attributed to the development of turbulence.The footprint reveals that,in general,the momentum fluxes and sensible heat fluxes can be measured well in the east and west upwind sectors under unstable conditions.The relationship between the non-dimensional standard deviation of the wind components and atmospheric stability follow the '1/3 power law',which supports the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory.Moreover,this study identifies a clear disturbance in the measurements surrounding the Gobi surface.The momentum roughness length of z0m=0.59 mm is determined after excluding such disturbance,and the additional resistance during the daytime is proposed to be an average of 3.1,although its actual value is highly scattered.This study discusses the applicability of several thermodynamic parameterization schemes for the Gobi surface.The results show that the scheme κB-1=3.1 can represent well the summer diurnal turbulent heat transfer. | ZHOU DeGang HUANG RongHui | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,5: | 9 |
| 12 | Control method for multi-input multi-output non-Gaussian random vibration test with cross spectra consideration显示文摘A control method for Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO) non-Gaussian random vibration test with cross spectra consideration is proposed in the paper. The aim of the proposed control method is to replicate the specified references composed of auto spectral densities, cross spectral densities and kurtoses on the test article in the laboratory. It is found that the cross spectral densities will bring intractable coupling problems and induce difficulty for the control of the multioutput kurtoses. Hence, a sequential phase modification method is put forward to solve the coupling problems in multi-input multi-output non-Gaussian random vibration test. To achieve the specified responses, an improved zero memory nonlinear transformation is utilized first to modify the Fourier phases of the signals with sequential phase modification method to obtain one frame reference response signals which satisfy the reference spectra and reference kurtoses. Then, an inverse system method is used in frequency domain to obtain the continuous stationary drive signals. At the same time, the matrix power control algorithm is utilized to control the spectra and kurtoses of the response signals further. | 13 | A primary study of the correlation between the net air-sea heat flux and the interannual variation of western North Pacific tropical cyclone track and intensity显示文摘A singular value decomposition (SVD) analysis is carried out to reveal the relationship between the interannual variation of track and intensity of the western North Pacific tropical cyclones (WNPTCs) in the tropical cyclone (TC) active season (July-November) and the global net air-sea heat flux (Q net ) in the preceding season (April-June). For this purpose, a tropical cyclone track and intensity function (TIF) is defined by a combination of accumulated cyclone energy (ACE) index and a cyclone track density function. The SVD analysis reveals that the first mode is responsible for the positive correlation between the upward heat flux in the tropical central Pacific and the increased activity of western North Pacific (WNP) TIF, the second mode for the positive correlation between the upward heat flux in the North Indian Ocean and the northeastward track shift of WNPTCs and the third mode for the negative correlation between the upward heat flux in mid-latitude central Pacific and the northwest displacement of the WNP TC-active center. | 15 | Synthesis, structure and luminescent properties of yellow phosphor La3Si6N11 :Ce^3+ for high power white-LEDs显示文摘A series of high phase purity blue light excitable yellow-emitting La_(3-x)Si_6 N_(11):xCe^(3+) phosphors were synthesized by the high temperature solid state reactions method. The structure and luminescent properties were investigated. The phase structure was studied by means of X-ray diffraction, structures refinements and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The phosphors effectively excited by the light of450 nm and show intense yellow emission at 535 nm with FWHM of 115 nm corresponding to the5 d →~2 F_(5/2) and 5 d →~2 F_(7/2) transitions of Ce^(3+). In addition,the optimized La_(2.86)Si_6 N_(11):0.14 Ce^(3+) exhibits a weak thermal quenching, which remains 98.2% of the initial emission intensity when heated to 200 ℃,the thermal quenching properties exhibit a modest decline when the temperature returned to room temperature. | 16 | Sensitivity of ENSO Variability to Pacific Freshwater Flux Adjustment in the Community Earth System Model显示文摘The effects of freshwater flux(FWF) on modulating ENSO have been of great interest in recent years. Large FWF bias is evident in Coupled General Circulation Models(CGCMs), especially over the tropical Pacific where large precipitation bias exists due to the so-called 'double ITCZ' problem. By applying an empirical correction to FWF over the tropical Pacific, the sensitivity of ENSO variability is investigated using the new version(version 1.0) of the NCAR's Community Earth System Model(CESM1.0), which tends to overestimate the interannual variability of ENSO accompanied by large FWF into the ocean. In response to a small adjustment of FWF, interannual variability in CESM1.0 is reduced significantly,with the amplitude of FWF being reduced due to the applied adjustment part whose sign is always opposite to that of the original FWF field. Furthermore, it is illustrated that the interannual variability of precipitation weakens as a response to the reduced interannual variability of SST. Process analysis indicates that the interannual variability of SST is damped through a reduced FWF–salt–density–mixing–SST feedback, and also through a reduced SST–wind–thermocline feedback. | 17 | Recent Advances in Monsoon Studies in China显示文摘This review provides a synopsis of the major progress that has been made in monsoon studies in China and to further bridge the gap between the Chinese and international meteorological community. It consists of seven major sections. After the introduction, the second section begins with the global monsoon systems and their seasonal variation, based on some new methods proposed in recent years. Besides, some major intraseasonal features of East Asian monsoon, including the onset of South China Sea summer monsoon are discussed. In the third section, we review the interactions between ENSO and the East Asian monsoon, focusing in particular on the results of Chinese meteorologists that indicate the influence of ENSO on the East Asian summer monsoon(EASM) is obviously different from that on the tropical monsoon. Besides the tropical Pacific,other ocean basins, such as the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, are also important to the East Asian monsoon, and this topic is discussed in the fourth section. In the fifth section, we address the role of land surface processes in East Asian monsoon. For example, we describe work that has shown more snow cover in spring on the Tibetan Plateau is followed by a weakened EASM and more summer rainfall in the Yangtze River valleys. The sixth section focuses on the influence of atmospheric circulation in the Southern Hemisphere(SH) on EASM, demonstrating how the signal from the SH is likely to provide new clues for the seasonal forecasting of summer rainfall in China. Finally, in the seventh section, we concentrate on the interdecadal variations of EASM. | 18 | Big Grain3, encoding a purine permease, regulates grain size via modulating cytokinin transport in rice显示文摘Grain size is an important agronomic trait affecting grain yield,but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain to be elucidated.Here,we isolated a dominant mutant,big grainy(bg3-D),which exhibits a remarkable increase of grain size caused by activation of the PURINE PERMEASE gene,OsPUP4.BC3/OSPUP4 is predominantly expressed in vascular tissues and is specifically suppressed by exogenous cytokinin application.Hormone profiling revealed that the distribution of different cytokinin forms,in roots and shoots of the bg3-D mutant,is altered.Quantitative reverse transcription-PCR(qRT-PCR)analysis indicated that expression of rice cytokinin type-A RESPONSE REGULATOR(OsRR)genes is enhanced in the roots of the bgj-D mutant.These results suggest that OSPUP4 might contribute to the long-distance transport of cytokinin,by reinforcing cytokinin loading into vascular bundle cells.Furthermore,plants overexpressing OsPUP7,the closest homolog of OsPUP4,also exhibited a similar phenotype to the bg3-D mutant.Interestingly,subcellular localization demonstrated that OSPUP4 was localized on the plasma membrane,whereas OSPUP7 was localized to the endoplasmic reticulum.Based on these findings,we propose that OSPUP4 and OSPUP7 function in a linear pathway to direct cytokinin cell-to-cell transport,affecting both its long-distance movement and local allocation. | Yunhua Xiao Dapu Liu Guoxia Zhang Shaopei Gao Linchuan Liu Fan Xu Ronghui Che Yiqin Wang Hongning Tong Chengcai Chu | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2019,61,5: | 7 |
| 19 | Therapeutic effect of electroacupuncture,massage,and blocking therapy on external humeral epicondylitis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To compare two therapeutic methods:electroacupuncture + massage + blocking therapy,and blocking therapy alone in the treatment of external humeral epicondylitis.METHODS:Eighty-six patients were randomized into two groups with 43 in each. The treatment group received electroacupuncture + massage +blocking therapy, while the control group received blocking therapy only. A course of electroacupuncture treatment included therapy once a day for 10days. There were 10 treatments in a massage course and massage was given once a day, with a1-week interval given before the next course. A course of blocking treatment included therapy once a week, for twototaltreatments,andgenerallyno more than three times. The therapeutic effects were evaluated with the visual analog scale(VAS),grip strength index(GSI) score, and Mayo elbow performance score(MEPS) before treatment and at0, 6, 12, and 24 months after treatment to observe thetotaleffectiverate.RESULTS: In the treatment and control groups before treatment and at 0, 6, 12, and 24 months after treatment, the VAS scores were: 6.5±1.9 and 6.4±1.6; 4.6±1.3 and 4.6±1.7; 4.8±1.3 and 4.8±1.2; 4.6±1.2 and 6.6±1.6; and 6.5±1.6 and 6.5±1.3, respectively. The GSI scores were 63±8 and 63±8; 84±6and82±7;82±7and82±6;84±6and62±8;and64±6 and 64±7, respectively.The MEPS of both groups were65±7and66±8;85±6and84±7;84±5and84±7;80±7and66±6;and65±6and65±7,respectively.The total effective rates of the treatment and control groups at 0, 6, 12, and 24 months after treatment were 87.5% and 85.0%; 85.0% and 82.5%;80.0% and 12.5%; and 2.5% and 5.0%, respectively.Compared with the treatment group, the control group had greater joint function, better the rapeutic effect, and lower pain intensity(P<0.01), indicating a high recurrence rate in the 12th month after treatment.There were no differences inVAS, GSI, or MEPS at 0, 6, and 24 months after treatment(P>0.05)betweenthetwogroups.CONCLUSION: We found that both methods were effective for external humeral epicondylitis. After 6months of treatment,the effects were good in both groups. However, in the 12th month, the control group had a relatively severe relapse. After 24months, both groups relapsed. | 20 | Detection of Staphylococcus Aureus using quantum dots as fluorescence labels显示文摘Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)has been identified as one of the major foodborne pathogenic bacteria.The development of rapid detection methods for S.aureus is needed for assuring food safety.In this study,quantum dots were used as fluorescent labels in an immunoassay for quantitative detection of S.aureus.Firstly,biotin-labeled anti-S.aureus antibody was conjugated with streptavidin-coated magnetic nanobeads(180 nm diameter)and used to separate S.aureus cells.Then streptavidin coated quantum dots(QDs)were conjugated with biotin-labeled anti-S.aureus antibody and used as the fluorescence labels to mix with the separated S.aureus.Finally the fluorescence intensity of the bead-cell-QD complexes was measured at a wavelength of 620 nm.A linear relationship between S.aureus cell number(X)and fluorescence intensity(Y)was found for cell numbers ranging from 10^(3) to 10^(6) CFU(Colony Forming Unit)/mL,and the detection limit was 10^(3) CFU/mL.The regression model can be expressed as Y=7.68X+35.06 with R^(2)=0.94.The detection of S.aureus in food sample was explored initially.The fluorescence intensity of food sample was close to the background,so it was not satisfied.Further study will focus on the application of the method for detection of S.aureus in food sample. | Hu Yaohua Wang Chengcheng Bai Bing Li Mintong Ronghui Wang Yanbin Li | 2014 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2014,7,1: | 6 |
