| 1 | Mouse models in liver cancer research:A review of current literature显示文摘Primary liver cancer remains one of the most lethal malignancies worldwide. Due to differences in prevalence of etiological factors the incidence of primary liver can-cer varies among the world, with a peak in East-Asia. As this disease is still lethal in most of the cases, research has to be done to improve our understanding of the disease, offering insights for possible treatment options. For this purpose, animal models are widely used, especially mouse models. In this review, we describe the different types of mouse models used in liver cancer research, with emphasis on genetically engineered mice used in this field. | 2 | Extreme Cold Events from East Asia to North America in Winter 2020/21:Comparisons,Causes,and Future Implications显示文摘Three striking and impactful extreme cold weather events successively occurred across East Asia and North America during the mid-winter of 2020/21.These events open a new window to detect possible underlying physical processes.The analysis here indicates that the occurrences of the three events resulted from integrated effects of a concurrence of anomalous thermal conditions in three oceans and interactive Arctic-lower latitude atmospheric circulation processes,which were linked and influenced by one major sudden stratospheric warming(SSW).The North Atlantic warm blob initiated an increased poleward transient eddy heat flux,reducing the Barents-Kara seas sea ice over a warmed ocean and disrupting the stratospheric polar vortex(SPV)to induce the major SSW.The Rossby wave trains excited by the North Atlantic warm blob and the tropical Pacific La Nina interacted with the Arctic tropospheric circulation anomalies or the tropospheric polar vortex to provide dynamic settings,steering cold polar air outbreaks.The long memory of the retreated sea ice with the underlying warm ocean and the amplified tropospheric blocking highs from the midlatitudes to the Arctic intermittently fueled the increased transient eddy heat flux to sustain the SSW over a long time period.The displaced or split SPV centers associated with the SSW played crucial roles in substantially intensifying the tropospheric circulation anomalies and moving the jet stream to the far south to cause cold air outbreaks to a rarely observed extreme state.The results have significant implications for increasing prediction skill and improving policy decision making to enhance resilience in“One Health,One Future”. | Xiangdong ZHANG Yunfei FU Zhe HAN James E.OVERLAND Annette RINKE Han TANG Timo VIHMA Muyin WANG | 2022 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022，39，4： | 7 |

| 4 | Climate and Forecast Mode Simulations for Antarctica:Implications for Temperature and Wind显示文摘Climate and forecast mode simulations with the regional climate model HIRlam-ECHAM(HIRHAM) are evaluated over a pan-Antarctic domain. The ability of the model to simulate temperature and wind profiles in the troposphere is quantified by comparing its results with radiosonde data acquired from the Davis station for January and July 2007. Compared to the climate mode, the forecast mode was found to deliver improved results for temperature and wind simulations at the near surface and in the lower troposphere. The main remaining model bias found was the under-representation of low-level wind jets. | 7 | Bayesian inference of atomistic structure in functional materials显示文摘Tailoring the functional properties of advanced organic/inorganic heterogeneous devices to their intended technological applications requires knowledge and control of the microscopic structure inside the device.Atomistic quantum mechanical simulation methods deliver accurate energies and properties for individual configurations,however,finding the most favourable configurations remains computationally prohibitive.We propose a‘building block’-based Bayesian Optimisation Structure Search(BOSS)approach for addressing extended organic/inorganic interface problems and demonstrate its feasibility in a molecular surface adsorption study.In BOSS,a Bayesian model identifies material energy landscapes in an accelerated fashion from atomistic configurations sampled during active learning.This allowed us to identify several most favourable molecular adsorption configurations for C_(60) on the(101)surface of TiO_(2) anatase and clarify the key molecule-surface interactions governing structural assembly.Inferred structures were in good agreement with detailed experimental images of this surface adsorbate,demonstrating good predictive power of BOSS and opening the route towards large-scale surface adsorption studies of molecular aggregates and films. | Milica Todorović Michael U.Gutmann Jukka Corander Patrick Rinke | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019，，1： | 2 |
