2Preliminary studies of acute and sub-chronic toxicity of the aqueous extract of Guibourtia tessmannii(Harms) J.Leonard stem barks (Caesalpiniaceae) in mice and rats显示文摘Objective: To investigate the toxicity of aqueous extract of Guibourtia tessmannii(Harms) J. Leonard(G. tessmannii) and evaluate its safety.Methods: NMRI mice were used to determine the acute toxicity of G. tessmannii.Increasing concentrations of the plant extracts were administered intraperitoneally or by force-feeding. General behavior and death were monitored and recorded daily for 7 days.In order to determine the sub-acute toxicity of the extract, several doses were administered by oral gavage daily for 28 days in adult Wistar rats. Different parameters were assessed including body weight, food and water intake, biochemical parameters and several vital organ weights.Results: LD50 of 328.78 mg/kg was obtained by i.p. route and more than 5 000 mg/kg was obtained in acute toxicity by oral route. 3Recent advances on quasi-solid-state electrolytes for supercapacitors显示文摘Solid-state and quasi-solid-state electrolytes have been attracting the scientific community’s attention in the last decade. These electrolytes provide significant advantages, such as the absence of leakage and separators for devices and safety for users. They also allow the assembly of stretchable and bendable supercapacitors. Comparing solid-state to quasi-solid-states, the last provides the most significant energy and power densities due to the better ionic conductivity. Our goal here is to present recent advances on quasisolid-state electrolytes, including gel-polymer electrolytes. We reviewed the most recent literature on quasi-solid-state electrolytes with different solvents for supercapacitors. Organic quasi-solid-state electrolytes need greater attention once they reach an excellent working voltage window greater than 2.5 V.Meanwhile, aqueous-based solid-state electrolytes have a restricted voltage window to less than 2 V. On the other hand, they are easier to handle, provide greater ionic conductivity and capacitance. Recent water-in-salt polymer-electrolytes have shown stability as great as 2 V encouraging further development in aqueous-based quasi-solid-state electrolytes. Moreover, hydrophilic conductive polymers have great commercial appeal for bendable devices. 8Detection of Helicobacter pylori resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones in Brazil:A national survey显示文摘AIM To evaluate bacterial resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones in Brazil using molecular methods.METHODS The primary antibiotic resistance rates of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) were determined from November 2012 to March 2015 in the Southern,South-Eastern,Northern,North-Eastern,and Central-Western regions of Brazil. Four hundred ninety H. pylori patients [66% female,mean age 43 years(range: 18-79)] who had never been previously treated for this infection were enrolled. All patients underwent gastroscopy with antrum and corpus biopsies and molecular testing using Geno Type Helico DR(Hain Life Science,Germany). This test was performed to detect the presence of H. pylori and to identify point mutations in the genes responsible for clarithromycin and fluoroquinolone resistance. The molecular procedure was divided into three steps: DNA extraction from the biopsies,multiplex amplification,and reverse hybridization. RESULTS Clarithromycin resistance was found in 83(16.9%) patients,and fluoroquinolone resistance was found in 66(13.5%) patients. There was no statistical difference in resistance to either clarithromycin or fluoroquinolones(P = 0.55 and P = 0.06,respectively) among the different regions of Brazil. Dual resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones was found in 4.3%(21/490) of patients. The A2147 G mutation was present in 90.4%(75/83),A2146 G in 16.9%(14/83) and A2146 C in 3.6%(3/83) of clarithromycin-resistant patients. In 10.8%(9/83) of clarithromycin-resistant samples,more than 01 mutation in the 23 S r RNA gene was noticed. In fluoroquinolone-resistant samples,37.9%(25/66) showed mutations not specified by the Geno Type Helico DR test. D91 N mutation was observed in 34.8%(23/66),D91 G in 18.1%(12/66),N87 K in 16.6%(11/66) and D91 Y in 13.6%(9/66) of cases. Among fluoroquinolone-resistant samples,37.9%(25/66) showed mutations not specified by the Geno Type Helico DR test. CONCLUSION The H. pylori clarithromycin resistance rate in Brazil is at the borderline(15%-20%) for applying the standard triple therapy. 11Evaluation of inpatients Clostridium difficile prevalence and risk factors in Cameroon显示文摘Background Clostridium difficile,rarely found in hospitals,is a bacterium responsible for post-antibiotic diarrhea and Pseudomembranous Colitis(CPM).C.difficile selective pressure represents potential public health problem due to the production of toxins A and B serious pathologies effects/consequences.A transversal and analytic study was to assess the risk factors of C.difficile infection and to determine the prevalence of C.difficile in patients received in randomly selected five hospitals in Yaoundé,Cameroon.Methods A total of 300 stool samples were collected from consented patients using a transversal and analytic study conducted from 10th July to 10th November 2018 in five hospitals in Cameroon.The detection or diagnostic kit was CerTest C.difficile Glutamate Dehydrogenase+Toxin A+Toxin B based on immuno-chromatographic assay.A univariate and multivariate analysis allowed us to highlight the associated factors.Results The results showed a prevalence of C.difficile of 27.33%(82/300 stool patients’samples taken).Of these 27.33%,the production of Toxin A and Toxin B were 37.80 and 7.31%respectively.In univariate analysis,hospitalization was a significant(P=0.01)risk factor favoring C.difficile infection.In multivariate analysis,corticosteroids and quinolones use/administration were significantly(adjusted Odd Ratio,aOR=14.09,95%CI:1.62–122.54,P=0.02 and aOR=3.39,95%CI:1.00–11.34,P=0.05 respectively)risk factor for this infection.Conclusion The prevalence of C.difficile infections(CDI)remain high in these settings and may be related not only to permanent steroids and antibiotics.Promoting education to both medical staff and patients on the prevalence and public health impact of C.difficile can be core inimproving rationale prescription of steroids and antibiotics to patients and promote human health and exponential growth in Cameroon.Ingrid Cécile Djuikoue Ernest Tambo Gildas Tazemda Omer Njajou Denise Makoudjou Vanessa Sokeng Morelle Wandji Charlène Tomi Aubain Nanfack Audrey Dayomo Suzie Lacmago Falubert Tassadjo Raissa Talla Sipowo Caroline Kakam Aicha Bibiane Djoko Clement Nguedia Assob Antoine Andremont Frédéric Barbut 2020Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,4:0

13Antimicrobial Resistance of Microorganisms Causing Pneumonia in Patients of a Public Hospital in Brazilian Pre-Amazon Region显示文摘Nosocomial infections have been common in health services in Brazil.Among them,pneumonia is very highlighted due to the comorbidity that usually affects intensive treatment unit(ITU)patients,and due to the need for endotracheal intubation.The aim of this study was to determine the resistance profile of bacteria isolated from ITU patients with pneumonia in a public hospital in S?o Luis,an important city in the Brazilian pre-Amazon region.Bacteria strains were obtained from tracheal aspiration and collected for diagnosis as well for phenotypic characterization.Standards culture media,such as blood and MacConkey agar,were used to isolate clinical strains.Automatized Vitek 2 method was used to identify strains and disc diffusion method(Kirby-Bauer)was performed to determine the antimicrobial susceptibility profile.During study,eighty-eight patients were diagnosed with pneumonia,caused by more than 20 different bacteria.Among them,P.aeruginosa(28%),Acinetobacter baumannii(20%),Coagulase-negative Staphylococci(19%),Staphylococcus aureus(8%)and Klebsiella pneumoniae(7%)were the most prevalent microorganisms.Regarding to the resistance,antimicrobial susceptibility test showed that majority of Gram-negative bacteria presented resistance to ampicillin.In Gram-positive bacteria there was a high resistance to ampicillin,penicillin,ciprofloxacin,clindamycin and erythromycin.This study showed a high prevalence of bacteria resistance in ITU patients in a public hospital.Although P.aeruginosa was the most frequent pathogen,it was possible to find other pathogens that were not recurrent,such as Enterobacter spp.,Proteus mirabilis and Providencia stuartii.Regarding antimicrobials,the results showed a high resistance to several antimicrobials.Raissa G.Assuncao Wellison A.Pereira Francisco J.R.Nogueira Itaynara L.Dutra Tania M.G.Novais Afonso G.Abreu 2019Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology2019,7,1:0
14Hepatitis B virus outreach to immigrant population in Greater Boston Area: Key to improving hepatitis B knowledge显示文摘AIM To characterize the understanding of hepatitis B virus(HBV) and determine if outreach improves HBV understanding among Greater Boston Area immigrants. METHODS Six outreach sessions were held in various community venues in the Greater Boston Area. Verbal consent was obtained from participants prior to starting each session. Each session included a pre-session questionnaire, followed by a teaching session, and then a post-session questionnaire. In person interpreters were present for translation during the teaching session and assistance for questionnaire completion when needed. The questions were developed based on the HBV clinical experience of physicians who serve largely immigrant populations. Questionnaires included Likerttype scale, open-ended, and true-false questions. All results were anonymous. RESULTS One hundred and one people participated in this study. Participants were 30% male with ages ranging from 19 to 87 years. The study population included immigrants from 21 countries, as well as seven United States-born participants. The greatest numbers of participants were from Somalia(44%), Morocco(10%), and Cameroon(8%). Pre session questionnaires revealed that 42% of participants were unaware that HBV can cause cancer, and 50% were unaware that therapies for HBV exist. Our brief teaching intervention led to improved scores on post session questionnaires. For example, at baseline, 58% of participants responded correctly to the question 'HBV infection can cause scarring of the liver and liver cancer', whereas 79% of participants responded correctly after the teaching session(P = 0.01). Furthermore, the mean of total correct answers in the true or false portion of the questionnaire increased from 5.5 to 7.6(P < 0.001).CONCLUSION A teaching session targeting Boston Immigrants atrisk for HBV helped improve scores on HBV knowledge questionnaires. 15Socio-economic development of countries based on the Composite Country Development Index(CCDI)显示文摘World experience indicates the existence of significant imbalances in the development of countries.The problem of assessing the rational development of the regional and national economy is becoming urgent,since such assessments can prevent development imbalances across countries.The aim of this study is to elaborate a methodology to assess the countries’socio-economic development by integraring 12 modern indices of socio-economic development into the Composite Country Development Index(CCDI).The methodology of this research was based on a set of key indices that described socio-economic development level in four fields(social development,digital development,economic development,and environmental security)and then these indices were integrated into the CCDI.The study further applied factor analysis and R-Studio software to define the gaps of social and economic development in 59 selected countries using the trigonometric function of the angle sine.The correlation analysis confirmed the existence of a close interrelation among the studied countries.This paper noted that due to the emergence of new priorities,it is necessary to revise the assessment methodology of socio-economic development level and expand them to cover the decisive factors.This was confirmed by the results obtained,demonstrating various combinations of the development level in the four fields and their impact on the CCDI.The scientific contribution of this research is to form a methodology(e.g.,the CCDI)for evaluating the socio-economic development level of countries in the world.Kalamkas NURALINA Raissa BAIZHOLOVA Natalya ALEKSANDROVA Viktor KONSTANTINOV Alexander BIRYUKOV 2023Regional Sustainability2023,4,2:0

17PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 polymorphisms in Brazilian patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is becoming the most common chronic liver disease worldwide,with significant morbidity associated with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).Genome-wide association studies demonstrated that the variants rs738409 C/G in the PNPLA3 and rs58542926 C/T in the TM6SF2 genes are determinants of inter-individual and ethnicity-related differences in hepatic fat content and NAFLD progression.AIM To investigate PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 genotype frequency and their association with NAFLD development and progression in Brazilian patients.METHODS This cross-sectional case-control study enrolled 285 individuals from the Gastroenterology and Hepatology clinics at a university hospital in Brazil.The case patients(n=148)were confirmed to have NAFLD by the identification of hepatic steatosis on ultrasonography and exclusion of other causes of liver disease.According to the clinical protocol,patients underwent liver biopsy when at high risk for NASH and/or advanced fibrosis(n=65).Steatohepatitis was confirmed in 54 patients.Individuals who did not have biopsy indication or NASH on histology were considered to have simple steatosis(n=94).The control group(n=137)was selected among patients that attended the Intestinal Disease clinic and was composed of subjects without abnormalities on abdominal ultrasonography and normal liver biochemical tests.All individuals underwent PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 genotype analysis.RESULTS PNPLA3 CC,CG and GG genotype frequencies were 37%,44%and 19%,respectively,in NAFLD patients and were 58%,31%and 10%in controls(P<0.001).In a model adjusted for gender,age,body mass index and type 2 diabetes mellitus,the G allele increased the chance of NAFLD(OR=1.69,95%CI:1.21-2.36,P=0.002)and NASH(OR=3.50,95%CI:1.84-6.64,P<0.001).The chance of NASH was even higher with GG homozygosis(OR=5.53,95%CI:2.04-14.92,P=0.001).No association was found between G allele and the features of metabolic syndrome.In histological assessment,PNPLA3 genotype was not associated with steatosis grade,although GG homozygosis increased the chance of significant NASH activity(OR=17.11,95%CI:1.87-156.25,P=0.01)and fibrosis(OR=7.42,95%CI:1.55-34.47,P=0.01)in the same adjusted model.TM6SF2 CC,CT and TT genotype frequencies were 83%,15%and 0.7%,respectively,in NAFLD patients and were 84%,16%and 0.7%in controls(P=0.78).The T allele presence was not associated with NAFLD or NASH,and was not associated with histological features.CONCLUSION PNPLA3 may be involved in susceptibility and progression of NAFLD and NASH in the Brazilian population.More advanced histological liver disease was associated with the G allele.The TM6SF2 genetic variants were not associated with NAFLD susceptibility and progressive histological forms in the population studied,but further studies are required to confirm these findings.Quelson Coelho Lisboa Mateus Jorge Nardelli Patrícia de Araújo Pereira Débora Marques Miranda Stephanie Nunes Ribeiro Raissa Soares Neves Costa Camila Azevedo Versiani Paula Vieira Teixeira Vidigal Teresa Cristina de Abreu Ferrari Claudia Alves Couto 2020World Journal of Hepatology2020,12,10:0
18宫颈治疗支架对持续性高危型HPV感染转归及阴道微生态的作用显示文摘目的 探究宫颈治疗支架(CEROMOVER^■)对持续性高危型人乳头瘤病毒(HPV)感染转归的作用及其对阴道微生态的影响。方法 回顾性分析2021年6月至2022年6月因持续性高危型HPV感染于中南大学湘雅三医院治疗患者的病历资料,根据不同治疗方法分为支架组165例,干扰素组202例,对比分析两组患者HPV转阴率及治疗前后的阴道微生态变化。结果 (1)支架组HPV完全转阴率为81.82%(135/165),有效率为83.64%(138/165);干扰素组完全转阴率为34.16%(69/202),有效率为45.05%(91/202)。支架组完全转阴率及有效率优于干扰素组(P<0.05)。(2)对于持续性高危型HPV感染患者,无论是支架组还是干扰素组,其HPV转阴前后,白带清洁度、Nugent评分、过氧化氢(H_(2)O_(2))、pH值、优势菌、细菌性阴道病(BV)及外阴阴道假丝酵母菌病(VVC)感染率均差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。(3)支架组转阴患者治疗前后阴道pH值、优势菌、 BV及VVC感染率均差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论宫颈治疗支架(CEROMOVER^■)对持续性高危型HPV感染转阴效果显著,并显著改善阴道微生态。王新宇 李翔 Raissa Abdouroihamane 肖松舒 2023中国医学工程2023,31,4:0
19Floristic composition,growth temperament and conservation status of woody plant species in the Cameroonian tropical rainforests显示文摘Introduction:Cameroon’s tropical rainforests are nowadays strewn with rural forests maintained by local popula‑tions;however,these forests are not officially recognized in the non‑permanent forest domain.Rural forests are non‑delimited riparian areas within the dense moist forest,reserved for rural housing,agricultural activities and agroforestry practices,freely exploited by the local communities for their livelihood without them having any rights to artisanal and commercial logging.This study aimed at contributing to the flora knowledge and the conservation state of woody plant species in rainforests.The study was carried out in two rural forests located in the Eastern and Southern agroforestry zones of Cameroon.Methods:The method adopted for floristic inventories combined a fixed area sampling unit and a variable area sampling unit.Woody individuals with diameter at breast height(dbh)<3.2 cm were counted and shrubs of 3.2≤dbh<10 cm were measured to analyse the understorey,while trees with dbh≥10 cm were measured and identified to characterize the canopy.Results:In the Essiengbot‑Mbankoho rural forest in Eastern Cameroon,468 species belonging to 61 families were recorded in the understory while 227 species belonging to 53 families were identified at the canopy level.A total of 40(7.68%)threatened species,18(3.45%)Near Threatened species and 408(78.31%)Least Concern species were recorded.In the Nbgwassa‑Opkweng rural forest in Southern Cameroon,534 species belonging to 64 families were identified in the understory while 225 species belonging to 43 families were recorded in the canopy.A total of 54(9.69%)threatened species,25(4.49%)Near Threatened species and 421(75.58%)Least Concern species were identified in this forest.Shannon’s diversity indices were above five in the understories and canopies of both forests.Shade‑bearer species were the most represented in the understories while the non‑pioneer light‑demanding and shade‑bearer species were the most abundant in the canopies.Conclusions:Despite the influence of slash‑and‑burn agriculture and subsistence farming practices,rural forests managed by local populations provide opportunities for preserving plant biodiversity.However,the presence of threatened species,pioneer species and non‑pioneer light‑demanding species in these forests is an indicator of mod‑erate and man‑induced disturbances that,in the absence of a forest management plan or sustainable management,may threaten this biodiversity.Legal management of rural forests could help in limiting the anthropogenic activities and pressures on community forests.Olivier Clovis Kengne Samuel Severin Kenfack Feukeng Eric Tchatchouang Ngansop Raissa Gwladys Daghela Meyan‑ya Louis Zapfack 2022Ecological Processes2022,11,1:0
