| 1 | Genetically modified mouse models for the study of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is associated with obesity,insulin resistance,and type 2 diabetes.NAFLD represents a large spectrum of diseases ranging from(1) fatty liver(hepatic steatosis);(2) steatosis with inflammation and necrosis;to(3) cirrhosis.The animal models to study NAFLD/nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) are extremely useful,as there are still many events to be elucidated in the pathology of NASH.The study of the established animal models has provided many clues in the pathogenesis of steatosis and steatohepatitis,but these remain incompletely understood.The different mouse models can be classified in two large groups.The first one includes genetically modified(transgenic or knockout) mice that spontaneously develop liver disease,and the second one includes mice that acquire the disease after dietary or pharmacological manipulation.Although the molecular mechanism leading to the development of hepatic steatosis in the pathogenesis of NAFLD is complex,genetically modified animal models may be a key for the treatment of NAFLD.Ideal animal models for NASH should closely resemble the pathological characteristics observed in humans.To date,no single animal model has encompassed the full spectrum of human disease progression,but they can imitate particular characteristics of human disease.Therefore,it is important that the researchers choose the appropriate animal model.This review discusses various genetically modified animal models developed and used in research on NAFLD. | Perumal Nagarajan M Jerald Mahesh Kuma Ramasamy Venkatesan Subeer S Majundar Ramesh C Juyal M Jerald Mahesh Kuma | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，11： | 7 |
| 2 | Clinical implications of diabetes in chronic liver disease:Diagnosis,outcomes and management,current and future perspectives显示文摘Diabetes mellitus(DM)is common in liver cirrhosis(LC).The pathophysiological association is bidirectional.DM is a risk factor of LC and LC is a diabetogenic condition.In the recent years,research on different aspects of the association DM and LC has been intensified.Nevertheless,it has been insufficient and still exist many gaps.The aims of this review are:(1)To discuss the latest understandings of the association of DM and LC in order to identify the strategies of early diagnosis;(2)To evaluate the impact of DM on outcomes of LC patients;and(3)To select the most adequate management benefiting the two conditions.Literature searches were conducted using Pub Med,Ovid and Scopus engines for DM and LC,diagnosis,outcomes and management.The authors also provided insight from their own published experience.Based on the published studies,two types of DM associated with LC have emerged:Type 2 DM(T2 DM)and hepatogenous diabetes(HD).High-quality evidences have determined that T2 DM or HD significantly increase complications and death pre and post-liver transplantation.HD has been poorly studied and has not been recognized as a complication of LC.The management of DM in LC patients continues to be difficult and should be based on drug pharmacokinetics and the degree of liver failure.In conclusion,the clinical impact of DM in outcomes of LC patients has been the most studied item recently.Nevertheless many gaps still exist particularly in the management.These most important gaps were highlighted in order to propose future lines for research. | Diego García-Compeán Emanuela Orsi Ramesh Kumar Felix Gundling Tsutomu Nishida Jesús Zacarías Villarreal-Pérez Ángel N Del Cueto-Aguilera JoséA González-González Giuseppe Pugliese | 2022 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2022，28，8： | 4 |
| 3 | Effect of Commiphora mukul gum resin on hepatic marker enzymes,lipid peroxidation and antioxidants status in pancreas and heart of streptozotocin induced diabetic rats显示文摘Objective:To study the antioxidant efficacy of Commiphora mukul(C.mukul) gum resin ethanolic extract in streptozotocin(STZ) induced diabetic rats.Methods:The male Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups of eight animals each:Control group(C),CM-treated control group(C_+CMEE),Diabetic control group(D),CM- treated diabetic group(D_+CMEE).Diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal injection of STZ(55 mg/kg/ bwt).After being confirmed the diabetic rats were treated with C.mukul gum resin ethanolic extract(CMEE) for 60 days.The biochemical estimations like antioxidant,oxidative stress marker enzymes and hepatic marker enzymes of tissues were performed.Results:The diabetic rats showed increased level of enzymatic activities aspartate aminotransaminase(AST),alanine aminotransaminase(ALT) in liver and kidney and oxidative markers like lipid peroxidation(LPO) and protein oxidation(PO) in pancreas and heart. | 4 | Multimodality functional imaging using DW-MRI and 18F-FDG-PET/CT during radiation therapy for human papillomavirus negative head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: Meixoeiro Hospital of Vigo Experience显示文摘AIM To noninvasively investigate tumor cellularity measured using diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging(DW-MRI) and glucose metabolism measured by 18 Flabeled fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography(18F-FDG-PET/CT) during radiation therapy(RT) for human papillomavirus negative(HPV-) head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC).METHODS In this prospective study, 6 HPV- HNSCC patients underwent a total of 34 multimodality imaging examinations(DW-MRI at 1.5 T Philips MRI scanner [(n = 24) pre-, during-(2-3 wk), and post-treatment(Tx), and 18F-FDG PET/CT pre- and post-Tx(n = 10)]. All patients received RT. Monoexponential modeling of the DW-MRI data yielded the imaging metric apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC) and the mean of standardized uptake value(SUV) was measured from 18F-FDG PET uptake. All patients had a clinical follow-up as the standard of care and survival status was documented at 1 year.RESULTS There was a strong negative correlation between the mean of pretreatment ADC(ρ =-0.67, P = 0.01) and the pretreatment 18F-FDG PET SUV. The percentage(%) change in delta(?)
