1Apoptosis of human pancreatic cancer cells induced by Triptolide显示文摘AIM: To investigate apoptosis in human pancreatic cancer cells induced by Triptolide (TL), and the relationship between this apoptosis and expression of caspase-3' bcl-2 and bax. METHODS: Human pancreatic cancer cell line SW1990 was cultured in DMEM media for this study. MTT assay was used to determine the cell growth inhibitory rate in vitro. Flow cytometry and TUNEL assay were used to detect the apoptosis of human pancreatic cancer cells before and after TL treatment. RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of apoptosis-associated gene caspase-3' bcl-2 and bax. RESULTS: TL inhibited the growth of human pancreatic cancer cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner. TL induced human pancreatic cancer cells to undergo apoptosis with typically apoptotic characteristics. TUNEL assay showed that after the treatment of human pancreatic cancer cells with 40 ng/mL TL for 12 h and 24 h, the apoptotic rates of human pancreatic cancer cells increased significantly. RT-PCR demonstrated that caspase-3 and bax were significantly up-regulated in SW1990 cells treated with TL while bcl-2 mRNA was not. CONCLUSION: TL is able to induce the apoptosis in human pancreatic cancer cells. 2Protective effects of MCP-1 inhibitor on a rat model of severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Chemokines and their receptors play key roles in the pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis.This study aimed to establish a rat model of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP) for investigating monocyte chemotactic protein-1(MCP-1) expression in the pathogenesis of the disease.We assessed the effects of the inhibitor of MCP-1,Bindarit,on SAP and explored the mechanisms underlying SAP. METHODS:Seventy-two Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a saline control group(group S),an SAP group (group P),and a Bindarit group(group T).The SAP model was induced by retrograde infusion of 4%sodium taurocholate into the bilio-pancreatic duct.Based on the SAP model,Bindarit was injected intraperitoneally in group T,and 0.5% methyl cellulose was injected intraperitoneally in groups S and P.In group S,saline was retrogradely infused into the bili- pancreatic duct.Serum amylase levels and the histological changes in the pancreas were assessed at different time- points in each group.Expression of MCP-1 in serum was measured by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay(ELISA). MCP-1 protein and mRNA expression levels were detected by immunohistochemistry,Western blotting,and semi- quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RESULTS:Serum amylase levels in groups P and T were higher than those in group S.Serum amylase levels were significantly lower in group T than in group P at 6 and 12 hours after operation.The levels of MCP-1 in serum at 6 and 12 hours after operation in group P were significantly higher than in group S,and significantly lower in group T than in group P at 6 and 12 hours after operation.The pathological damage in the pancreas was milder in group T than in group P.MCP-1 protein and mRNA expression levels in the pancreas were higher in groups P and T than in group S.These expression levels were positively correlated with the pathological damage of pancreatic tissues.The activity of MCP-1 in group T was significantly lower than in group P.CONCLUSION:MCP-1 may play important roles in the pathogenesis of SAP.The data suggest that Bindarit ameliorates SAP by inhibiting the activity of MCP-1 in vivo.Zhou, Guo-Xiong Zhu, Xue-Juan Ding, Xiao-Ling Zhang, Hong Chen, Jian-Ping Qiang, Hui Zhang, Hai-Feng Wei, Qun 2010Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2010,9,2:20
3Microbial reduction of uranium(Ⅵ)by Bacillus sp.Dwc-2:A macroscopic and spectroscopic study显示文摘The microbial reduction of U(VI) by Bacillus sp. dwc-2, isolated from soil in Southwest China,was explored using transmission electron microscopy(TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy(XANES). Our studies indicated that approximately 16.0% of U(VI) at an initial concentration of 100 mg/L uranium nitrate could be reduced by Bacillus sp. dwc-2 at pH 8.2 under anaerobic conditions at room temperature.Additionally, natural organic matter(NOM) played an important role in enhancing the bioreduction of U(VI) by Bacillus sp. dwc-2. XPS results demonstrated that the uranium presented mixed valence states(U(VI) and U(IV)) after bioreduction, which was subsequently confirmed by XANES. 4Transanal surgery for obstructed defecation syndrome: Literature review and a single-center experience显示文摘Obstructed defecation syndrome(ODS) is a functional disorder commonly encountered by colorectal surgeons and gastroenterologists, and greatly affects the quality of life of patients from both societal and psychological aspects. The underlying anatomical and pathophysiological changes of ODS are complex. However, intra-rectal intussusception and rectocele are frequently found in patients with ODS and both are thought to play an important role in the pathogenesis of ODS. With the development of evaluation methods in anorectal physiology laboratories and radiology studies, a great variety of new operative procedures, especially transanal procedures, have been invented to treat ODS. However, no procedure has been proved to be superior to others at present. Each operation has its own merits and defects. Thus, choosing appropriate transanal surgical procedures for the treatment of ODS remains a challenge for all surgeons. This review provides an introduction of the current problems and options for treatment of ODS and a detailed summary of the essential assessments needed for patient evaluation before carrying out transanal surgery. Besides, an overview of the benefits and problems of current transanal surgical procedures for treatment of ODS is summarized in this review. 5Complementary transmissive ultra-thin meta-deflectors for broadband polarization-independent refractions in the microwave region显示文摘Polarization manipulation is a significant issue for artificial modulation of the electromagnetic(EM) wave, but general mechanisms all suffer the restriction of inherent symmetric properties between opposite handedness.Herein, a strategy to independently and arbitrarily manipulate the EM wave with orthogonal circular polarizations based on a metasurface is proposed, which effectually breaks through traditional symmetrical characteristics between orthogonal handedness. By synthesizing the propagation phase and geometric phase, the appropriate Jones matrix is calculated to obtain independent wavefront manipulation of EM waves with opposite circular polarizations. Two transmissive ultra-thin meta-deflectors are proposed to demonstrate the asymmetrical refraction of transmitted circularly polarized waves in the microwave region. Simulated transmitted phase front and measured far-field intensity distributions are in excellent agreement, indicating that the transmitted wave with different polarizations can be refracted into arbitrary and independent directions within a wide frequency band(relative bandwidth of 25%). 8Bioaccumulation characterization of uranium by a novel Streptomyces sporoverrucosus dwc-3显示文摘The biosorption mechanisms of uranium on an aerobic bacterial strain Streptomyces sporoverrucosus dwc-3,isolated from a potential disposal site for(ultra-)low uraniferous radioactive waste in Southwest China,were evaluated by using transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)analysis,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),proton induced X-ray emission(PIXE)and enhanced proton backscattering spectrometry(EPBS).Approximately60% of total uranium at an initial concentration of 10 mg/L uranium nitrate solution could be absorbed on 100 mg S.sporoverrucosus dwc-3 with an adsorption capacity of more than3.0 mg/g(wet weight)after 12 hr at room temperature at p H 3.0.The dynamic biosorption process of S.sporoverrucosus dwc-3 for uranyl ions was well described by a pseudo second-order model.S.sporoverrucosus dwc-3 could accumulate uranium on cell walls and within the cell,as revealed by SEM and TEM analysis as well as EDX spectra.XPS and FT-IR analysis further suggested that the absorbed uranium was bound to amino,phosphate and carboxyl groups of the cells.Additionally,PIXE and EPBS results confirmed that ion exchange also contributed to the adsorption process of uranium.Xiaolong Li Congcong Ding Jiali Liao Liang Du Qun Sun Jijun Yang Yuanyou Yang Dong Zhang Jun Tang Ning Liu 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3:5

15Progress and prospects of horizontal well fracturing technology for shale oil and gas reservoirs显示文摘By systematically summarizing horizontal well fracturing technology abroad for shale oil and gas reservoirs since the “13th Five-Year Plan”, this article elaborates new horizontal well fracturing features in 3D development of stacked shale reservoirs, small well spacing and dense well pattern, horizontal well re-fracturing, fracturing parameters optimization and cost control. In light of requirements on horizontal well fracturing technology in China, we have summarized the technological progress in simulation of multi-fracture propagation, horizontal well frac-design, electric-drive fracturing equipment, soluble tools and low-cost downhole materials and factory-like operation. 17Correlation of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome with metabolic syndrome in snorers显示文摘Though obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) and metabolic syndrome(MS) are correlated;the contributing factors for the occurrence of MS in Chinese snorers remain largely undefined.We aimed to investigate the associated pathogenesis of coexistence of OSAHS and MS in Chinese snorers.A total of 144 Chinese habitual snorers were divided into 3 groups,the control group(simple snorers)(n = 36),the mild OSAHS group(n= 52)and the moderate-to-severe OSAHS group(n = 56).The incidence of MS in the moderate-to-severe OSAHS group(26.8%) was significantly higher than that in the control group(8.3%),the mild OSAHS group(11.1%) and all the OSAHS patients(19.45%)(all P < 0.05).Homeostatic model assessment(HOMA) index and proinsulin(PI) were negatively correlated with nocturnal meanSpO_2 and miniSpO_2.Meanwhile,nocturnal SpO_2 were negatively correlated with body mass index,waist and neck circumferences and diastolic blood pressure,but positively correlated with total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.The study indicated that in Chinese snorers,moderate-to-severe OSAHS was closely associated with MS via nocturnal hypoxemia.Qun Zhang Xiaofeng Zhang Mengmeng Zhao Hanpeng Huang Ning Ding Xilong Zhang Hong Wang 2014The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,3:2

19An Ant Colony Algorithm Based Congestion Elusion Routing Strategy for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks显示文摘A critical challenge for mobile ad hoc networks is the design of efficient routing protocols which are able to provide high bandwidth utilization and desired fairness in mobile wireless environment without any fixed communication establishments. Although extensive efforts have already been devoted to providing optimization based distributed congestion elusion strategy for efficient bandwidth utilization and fair allocation in both wired and wireless networks,a common assumption therein is the fixed link capacities,which will unfortunately limit the application scope in mobile ad hoc networks where channels keep changing. In this paper,an effective congestion elusion strategy is presented explicitly based on ant colony algorithm for mobile ad hoc networks, which will explore the optimal route between two nodes promptly,meanwhile forecast congestion state of the link. Accordingly,a new path will be found rapidly to have the flow spread around to relieve the congestion degree. 20Cooperative resource allocation in cognitive wireless powered communication networks with energy accumulation and deadline requirements显示文摘This study investigates a multi-carrier cognitive wireless powered communication network(CWPCN) with a wirelessly powered primary user(PU). A two-stage cooperative protocol between the PU and the secondary user(SU) is adopted so that the PU can harvest energy from the SU while the SU gains transmission opportunities. It is assumed that the energy harvested by the PU can be accumulated for future usage, and the quality of service of the PU is guaranteed by satisfying the required minimum number of data bits for a given deadline. Herein, we maximize the SU rate by considering the time allocation,subcarrier allocation, and power allocation in both an offline setting(in which the future channel gains are known a priori) and an online setting(in which only the current channel gains are known). In the offline and online schemes, the maximization problem is solved using the block-coordinate descent method and the Lagrange duality method.
