6Effect of initial material bulk density and easily-degraded organic matter content on temperature changes during composting of cucumber stalk显示文摘To inactivate the potentially pathogenic microorganisms and safely utilize vegetable waste compost, ultra-high temperatures(> 70°C) should be maintained during the composting without having an inhibitory effect on maturity. This study investigated the influence of bulk density(part 1) and easily-degraded organic matter content(EDOMC, part 2) on temperature evolution during vegetable waste composting: Part 1: corn straw with different particle sizes was used to achieve different bulk densities in the composting material(BD1–BD3); Part 2: partial or total substitution of the corn straw by corn starch was carried out to obtain different EDOMC(ED1–ED4). The composting experiments were conducted in a labscale reactor(1.75 kg material) and lasted for 30 d. Temperature and CO2 emission were recorded daily, and the organic matter, lignocellulose, microbial activity, germination index(GI) and C/N of the samples were measured at different stages. The highest temperature(65.7°C) in part 1 occurred in the treatment with the bulk density of 0.35 g/cm3, which also had the longest thermophilic phase. Bulk density was found to seriously influence the utilization efficiency of O2 and heat transfer through materials, rather than heat production from organic matter degradation. In experiment part 2, the highest temperature was obtained with EDOMC of 45%(71.4°C). 7Molecular simulation of oligomer inhibitors for calcite scale显示文摘Molecular simulation was performed to study the interaction between CaCO3 crystal and several oligomer inhibitors, by using the equilibrium morphology method to calculate the growth morphology of CaCO3 without inhibitors. The calculated morphology agreed well with SEM photographs. Then, a double-layer model was built to investigate the interaction between calcite crystal and oligomer inhibitors containing maleic anhydride (MA) and acrylic acid (AA). Interaction energy per gram of an oligomer inhibitor was introduced as a scale of inhibition efficiency of different monomers. The results indicated that, for calcite scale inhibition, acrylamide (AM) and vinyl phosphonic acid (VPA) were the most efficient monomers, while allylsulfonic acid (AS) was the poorest. 8Proanthocyanidins Inhibit Seed Germination by Maintaining a High Level of Abscisic Acid in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Proanthocyanidins (PAs) are the main products of the flavonoid biosynthetic pathway in seeds, but their biological function during seed germination is still unclear. We observed that seed germination is delayed with the increase of exogenous PA concentration in Arabidopsis. A similar inhibitory effect occurred in peeled Brassica napus seeds, which was observed by measuring radicle elongation. Using abscisic acid (ABA), a biosynthetic and metabolic inhibitor, and gene expression analysis by real-time polymerase chain reaction, we found that the inhibitory effect of PAs on seed germination is due to their promotion of ABA via de novo biogenesis, rather than by any inhibition of its degradation. Consistent with the relationship between PA content and ABA accumulation in seeds, PA-deficient mutants maintain a lower level of ABA compared with wild-types during germination. Our data suggest that PA distribution in the seed coat can act as a doorkeeper to seed germination. 9Identification and fine mapping of quantitative trait loci for the number of vascular bundle in maize stem显示文摘Studies that investigated the genetic basis of source and sink related traits have been widely conducted.However, the vascular system that links source and sink received much less attention. When maize was domesticated from its wild ancestor, teosinte, the external morphology has changed dramatically; however, less is known for the internal anatomy changes. In this study, using a large maize-teosinte experimental population, we performed a high-resolution quantitative trait locus(QTL) mapping for the number of vascular bundle in the uppermost internode of maize stem.The results showed that vascular bundle number is dominated by a large number of small-effect QTLs, in which a total of 16 QTLs that jointly accounts for 52.2% of phenotypic variation were detected, with no single QTL explaining more than 6% of variation. Different from QTLs for typical domestication traits, QTLs for vascular bundle number might not be under directional selection following domestication.Using Near Isogenic Lines(NILs) developed from heterogeneous inbred family(HIF), we further validated the effect of one QTL qVb9-2 on chromosome 9 and fine mapped the QTL to a 1.8-Mb physical region. 12Experimental Study on Aqueous Phase Entrainment in a Mixer-settler with Double Stirring Mode显示文摘The mixer-settler is a core device of solvent extraction for separating rare earth elements. There are some adverse effects like high rare earth accumulation and poor production efficiency during industrial production. Current researches usually focus on changing the structure of the mixer-settler without making a breakthrough towards gravity clarification. In this paper, in order to improve the efficiency of clarification, a mixer-settler with double stirring mode was designed and manufactured by adding a stirring device in the settler after reducing the volume of the settler. The innovation of this research involves adopting the ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer to investigate the quantity of aqueous phase entrainment at the settler outlet in order to measure the clarification degree. Experimental results show that the clarification effect with stirring is better than that without stirring. The clarification effect is ameliorated as the stirring speed increases. Generally, the clarification effect shows a best condition when the offset distance is 12.5 cm, making the phase entrainment reduced to less than 0.1%. When the clearance over the tank bottom is 7 cm and 10 cm, respectively, the quantity of aqueous phase entrainment is better than the case with a clearance of 4 cm. 13Inhibition of lipid oxidation in foods and feeds and hydroxyl radical-treated fish erythrocytes:A comparative study of Ginkgo biloba leaves extracts and synthetic antioxidants显示文摘This study explored the effects of butylated hydroxytoluene(BHT) and ethoxyquin(EQ) and ethyl ether extracts, ethyl acetate extracts(EAE), acetone extracts, ethanol extracts and aqueous extracts of Ginkgo biloba leaves(EGbs) on lipid oxidation in a linoleic acid emulsion, fish flesh and fish feed and in hydroxyl radical(·OH)-treated carp erythrocytes. The linoleic acid, fish flesh and fish feed were incubated with BHT,EQ and EGbs at 45℃ for 8 d, respectively, except for the control group. The lipid oxidation in the linoleic acid emulsion, fish flesh and fish feed was then measured by the ferric thiocyanate method or thiobarbituric acid method. The carp erythrocytes were treated with BHT, EQ. or EGbs in the presence of40 μmol/L FeSO_4 and 20 μmol/L H_2 O_2 at 37℃ for 6 h,except for the control group. Oxidative stress and apoptosis parameters in carp erythrocytes were then evaluated by the commercial kit. The results showed that BHT, EQ and EGbs inhibited lipid oxidation in the linoleic acid emulsion, fish flesh and fish feed and·OH-induced phosphatidylserine exposure and DNA fragmentation(the biomarkers of apoptosis) in carp erythrocytes. Furthermore, BHT, EQ and EGbs decreased the generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS),inhibited the oxidation of cellular components and restored the activities of enzymatic antioxidants in·OH-treated carp erythrocytes. Of all examined EGbs, EAE showed the strongest effects. The effects of EAE on lipid oxidation in the linoleic acid emulsion and on superoxide anion and malonaldehyde levels,catalase activity and apoptosis in. OH-treated carp erythrocytes were equivalent to or stronger than those of BHT. Moreover, these results indicated that the inhibition order of EGbs on the generation of ROS and oxidation of cellular components in fish erythrocytes approximately agreed with that for the food and feed materials tested above. And, the antioxidative and anti-apoptotic effects of EGbs were positively correlated with their flavonoid content. Taken together, these results revealed that the fish erythrocyte system can be used as an experimental model to evaluate lipid oxidation in food and feed ingredients. The EAE can be used as a potential natural antioxidant or apoptosis inhibitor. 14Influence of fuel moisture, charge size, feeding rate and air ventilation conditions on the emissions of PM, OC, EC, parent PAHs, and their derivatives from residential wood combustion显示文摘Controlled combustion experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of fuel charge size, moisture, air ventilation and feeding rate on the emission factors (EFs) of carbonaceous particulate matter, parent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (pPAHs) and their derivatives from residential wood combustion in a typical brick cooking stove. Measured EFs were found to be independent of fuel charge size, but increased with increasing fuel moisture. Pollution emissions from the normal burning under an adequate air supply condition were the lowest for most pollutants, while more pollutants were emitted when an oxygen deficient atmosphere was formed in the stove chamber during fast burning. The impacts of these factors on the size distribution of emitted particles was also studied. 15ZBP1 mediates interferon-induced necroptosis显示文摘Interferons(IFNs)play an important role in immunomodulatory and antiviral functions.IFN-induced necroptosis has been reported in cells deficient in receptor-interacting protein kinase 1(RIPK1),Fas-associated protein with death domain(FADD),or caspase-8,but the mechanism is largely unknown.Here,we report that the DNA-dependent activator of IFN regulatory factors(ZBP1,also known as DAI)is required for both type Ⅰ(β)and type Ⅱ(γ)IFN-induced necroptosis.We show that L929 fibroblast cells became susceptible to IFN-induced necroptosis when RIPK1,FADD,or Caspase-8 was genetically deleted,confirming the antinecroptotic role of these proteins in IFN signaling.We found that the pronecroptotic signal from IFN stimulation depends on new protein synthesis and identified ZBP1,an IFN-stimulated gene(ISG)product,as the de novo synthesized protein that triggers necroptosis in IFN-stimulated cells.The N-terminal domain(ND)of ZBP1 is important for ZBP1–ZBP1 homointeraction,and its RHIM domain in the C-terminal region interacts with RIPK3 to initiate RIPK3-dependent necroptosis.The antinecroptotic function of RIPK1,FADD,and caspase-8 in IFN-treated cells is most likely executed by caspase-8-mediated cleavage of RIPK3,since the inhibitory effect on necroptosis was eliminated when the caspase-8 cleavage site in RIPK3 was mutated.ZBP1-mediated necroptosis in IFN-treated cells is likely physiologically relevant,as ZBP1 KO mice were significantly protected against acute systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS)induced by TNF+IFN-γ.Daowei Yang Yaoji Liang Shubo Zhao Yan Ding Qiuyu Zhuang Qilin Shi Tingting Ai Su-Qin Wu Jiahuai Han 2020Cellular & Molecular Immunology2020,17,4:5
16Experimental Study of Capillary Effect in Porous Silicon Using Micro-Raman Spectroscopy and X-Ray Diffraction显示文摘We investigate the capillary effect and the residual stress evolution in the wetting, drying and rewetting stages of porous silicon using x-ray diffraction and micro-Raman spectroscopy. A reversible capillary effect and an irreversible oxidation effect are the driving forces for the residual stress evolution. The lattice expansion of the porous-silicon layer is observed to decrease slightly by x-ray diffraction and the tensile residual stress increases rapidly by micro-Raman spectroscopy, with the change of about 82 MPa for the oxidation effect and the change of 2.78 GPa (enough for cracking) for the capillary effect. Therefore, the capillary effect plays a major role in the residual stress evolution in the stages. A simple microscopic liquid-bridge model is introduced to explain the capillary effect and its reversibility. 17HCCDB: A Database of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Expression Atlas显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is highly heterogeneous in nature and has been one of the most common cancer types worldwide. To ensure repeatability of identified gene expression patterns and comprehensively annotate the transcriptomes of HCC, we carefully curated 15 public HCC expression datasets that cover around 4000 clinical samples and developed the database HCCDB to serve as a one-stop online resource for exploring HCC gene expression with userfriendly interfaces. The global differential gene expression landscape of HCC was established by analyzing the consistently differentially expressed genes across multiple datasets. Moreover, a 4 D metric was proposed to fully characterize the expression pattern of each gene by integrating data from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and Genotype-Tissue Expression(GTEx). To facilitate a comprehensive understanding of gene expression patterns in HCC, HCCDB also provides links to third-party databases on drug, proteomics, and literatures, and graphically displays the resultsfrom computational analyses, including differential expression analysis, tissue-specific and tumorspecific expression analysis, survival analysis, and co-expression analysis. 18Emissions of parent, nitrated, and oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from indoor corn straw burning in normal and controlled combustion conditions显示文摘Emission factors(EFs) of parent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(pPAHs), nitrated PAHs(nPAHs), and oxygenated PAHs(oPAHs)were measured for indoor corn straw burned in a brick cooking stove under diferent burning conditions. The EFs of total 28 pPAHs,6 nPAHs and 4 oPAHs were(7.9 ± 3.4),(6.5 ± 1.6)×10 3, and(6.1 ± 1.4)×10 1mg/kg, respectively. Fuel charge size had insignificant influence on the pollutant emissions. Measured EFs increased significantly in a fast burning due to the oxygen deficient atmosphere formed in the stove chamber. In both restricted and enhanced air supply conditions, the EFs of pPAHs, nPAHs and oPAHs were significantly higher than those measured in normal burning conditions. Though EFs varied among diferent burning conditions, the composition profiles and calculated isomer ratios were similar, without significant diferences. 19Threshold effects of tourism agglomeration on the green innovation efficiency of China's tourism industry显示文摘Industrial agglomeration is an essential and effective way to integrate resources and elements. Its impact on the green innovation efficiency of the tourism industry is a process of continuous development and dynamic change. This paper, based on the provincial panel data from 2006 to 2015, uses super SBM model to measure the green innovation efficiency of China's tourism industry.The threshold regression model is employed to conduct empirical tests of the nonlinear threshold effect of agglomeration on the green innovation efficiency of tourism industry. The inter-provincial differences of various threshold effects and their possible causes are analyzed. Results indicate that the green innovation efficiency of China's tourism industry is generally growing, while regional disparity is significant with a gradient decrease along the eastern-central-western regions. There is an obvious positive nonlinear relationship between tourism agglomeration and green innovation efficiency. It is also found that with the increase of agglomeration, its influence is at a high level. As the level of agglomeration crosses the first threshold, its impact is at a low level, and when it crosses the second threshold, the impact of tourism agglomeration is at an intermediate level. 20Comparative Analysis of Fractional Vegetation Cover Estimation Based on Multi-sensor Data in a Semi-arid Sandy Area显示文摘The estimation of fractional vegetation cover(FVC) is important for identifying and monitoring desertification, especially in arid and semiarid regions. By using regression and pixel dichotomy models, we present the comparison of Sentinel-2A(S2) multispectral instrument(MSI) and Landsat 8(L8) operational land imager(OLI) data regarding the retrieval of FVC in a semi-arid sandy area(Mu Us Sandland, China, in August 2016). A combination of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) high-spatial-resolution images and field plots were used to produce verified data. Based on a normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) regression model, the results showed that, compared with that of L8, the coefficient of determination(R2) of S2 increased by 26.0%, and the root mean square error(RMSE) and the sum of absolute error(SAE) decreased by 3.0% and 11.4%, respectively. For the ratio vegetation index(RVI) regression model, compared with that of L8, the R2 of S2 increased by 26.0%, and the RMSE and SAE decreased by 8.0% and 20.0%, respectively. When the pixel dichotomy model was used, compared with that of L8, the RMSE of S2 decreased by 21.3%, and the SAE decreased by 26.9%. Overall, S2 performed better than L8 in terms of FVC inversion. Additionally, in this paper, we develop a verified scheme based on UAV data in combination with the object-based classification method. This scheme is feasible and sufficiently robust for building relationships between field data and inversion results from satellite data.
