| 1 | Effect of vehicle weight on natural frequencies of bridges measured from traffic-induced vibration显示文摘Recently, ambient vibration test (AVT) is widely used to estimate dynamic characteristics of large civil structures. Dynamic characteristics can be affected by various environmental factors such as humidity, intensity of wind, and temperature. Besides these environmental conditions, the mass of vehicles may change the measured values when traffic-induced vibration is used as a source of AVT for bridges. The effect of vehicle mass on dynamic characteristics is investigated through traffic-induced vibration tests on three bridges; (1) three-span suspension bridge (128m+404m+128m), (2) five-span continuous steel box girder bridge (59m+3@95m+59m), (3) simply supported plate girder bridge (46m). Acceleration histories of each measurement location under normal traffic are recorded for 30 minutes at field. These recorded histories are divided into individual vibrations and are combined into two groups according to the level of vibration; one by heavy vehicles such as trucks and buses and the other by light vehicles such as passenger cars. | 2 | Effect of Mo on microstructural characteristics and coarsening kinetics of γ' precipitates in Co–Al–W–Ta–Ti alloys显示文摘The solvus temperature,volume fraction,coarsening behavior of Y' precipitates and the partitioning behavior of alloying elements as well as lattice misfit of Y/Y' phases influence the creep behavior of Ni-and Co-base superalloys.However,few investigations about the microstructural characteristics and the coarsening behavior of Y' precipitates were reported in multicomponent novel Co-base superalloys during thermal exposure.Two alloys containing different contents of molybdenum and tungsten have been investigated to explore the effect of molybdenum on Y' solvus temperature,Y + Y' microstructure and Y' coarsening in Co–Al–W–Ta–Ti-base alloys.The results showed that the Y' solvus temperature decreases with the addition of Mo.Mo addition reduces the Y' volume fractions after aging above 1000?C,but results in negligible influence on the Y' volume fractions aging at 900?C.Meanwhile,Y' coarsening is controlled by diffusion in experimental alloys after aging at 900?C and 1000?C,and the kinetics of Y'growth in experimental alloys are consistent with the predictions of LSW theory. | H.J.Zhou F.Xue H.Chang Q.Feng | 2018 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2018,34,5: | 6 |

| 4 | Targeted Ptpn11 deletion in mice reveals the essential role of SHP2 in osteoblast differentiation and skeletal homeostasis显示文摘The maturation and function of osteoblasts(OBs)rely heavily on the reversible phosphorylation of signaling proteins.To date,most of the work in OBs has focused on phosphorylation by tyrosyl kinases,but little has been revealed about dephosphorylation by protein tyrosine phosphatases(PTPases).SHP2(encoded by PTPN11)is a ubiquitously expressed PTPase.PTPN11 mutations are associated with both bone and cartilage manifestations in patients with Noonan syndrome(NS)and metachondromatosis(MC),although the underlying mechanisms remain elusive.Here,we report that SHP2 deletion in bone gamma-carboxyglutamate protein-expressing(Bglap+)bone cells leads to massive osteopenia in both trabecular and cortical bones due to the failure of bone cell maturation and enhanced osteoclast activity,and its deletion in Bglap+chondrocytes results in the onset of enchondroma and osteochondroma in aged mice with increased tubular bone length.Mechanistically,SHP2 was found to be required for osteoblastic differentiation by promoting RUNX2/OSTERIX signaling and for the suppression of osteoclastogenesis by inhibiting STAT3-mediated RANKL production by osteoblasts and osteocytes.These findings are likely to explain the compromised skeletal system in NS and MC patients and to inform the development of novel therapeutics to combat skeletal disorders. | Lijun Wang Huiliang Yang Jiahui Huang Shaopeng Pei Liyun Wang Jian Q.Feng Dian Jing Hu Zhao Henry M.Kronenberg Douglas C.Moore Wentian Yang | 2021 | Bone Research2021,9,1: | 3 |
| 5 | Modeling the Newtonian dynamics for rotation curve analysis of thin-disk galaxies显示文摘We present an efficient,robust computational method for modeling the Newtonian dynamics for rotation curve analysis of thin-disk galaxies.With appropriate mathematical treatments,the apparent numerical difficulties associated with singularities in computing elliptic integrals are completely removed.Using a boundary element discretization procedure,the governing equations are transformed into a linear algebra matrix equation that can be solved by straightforward Gauss elimination in one step without further iterations.The numerical code implemented according to our algorithm can accurately determine the surface mass density distribution in a disk galaxy from a measured rotation curve(or vice versa).For a disk galaxy with a typical flat rotation curve,our modeling results show that the surface mass density monotonically decreases from the galactic center toward the periphery,according to Newtonian dynamics.In a large portion of the galaxy,the surface mass density follows an approximately exponential law of decay with respect to the galactic radial coordinate.Yet the radial scale length for the surface mass density seems to be generally larger than that of the measured brightness distribution,suggesting an increasing mass-tolight ratio with the radial distance in a disk galaxy.In a nondimensionalized form,our mathematical system contains a dimensionless parameter which we call the'galactic rotation number'that represents the gross ratio of centrifugal force and gravitational force.The value of this galactic rotation number is determined as part of the numerical solution.Through a systematic computational analysis,we have illustrated that the galactic rotation number remains within±10%of 1.70 for a wide variety of rotation curves.This implies that the total mass in a disk galaxy is proportional to V 2 0 Rg,with V0 denoting the characteristic rotation velocity(such as the'flat'value in a typical rotation curve)and Rg the radius of the galactic disk.The predicted total galactic mass of the Milky Way is in good agreement with the star-count data. | James Q.Feng C.F.Gallo | 2011 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2011,11,12: | 1 |

| 7 | EFFECT OF ANNEALING TREATMENT ON THE STRUCTURE OF CdS FILMS显示文摘The effect of annealing treatment on the structure of CdS films was investigated.The cadmium sulfide thin films were prepared by chemical bath deposition, and were annealed at nitrogen atmosphere at different temperatures. The films were characterized by SEM and XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to examine the chemical states on the CdS films surface. It was found that thermal annealing could produce large grains of CdS thin films, remove the air contamination and reduce the oxygen content on the CdS films surface.
