| 1 | Treatment of functional dyspepsia with sertraline:A double-blind randomized placebo-controlled pilot study显示文摘AIM:To evaluate sertraline,a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor in the treatment of patients with functional dyspepsia.METHODS:Consecutive tertiary hospital patients with a clinical diagnosis of functional dyspepsia(FD) according to the Rome Ⅱ criteria with a Hong Kong dyspepsia index(HKDI) of greater than 16 were recruited.Patients commenced enrolment prior to the inception of the Rome Ⅲ criteria for functional dyspepsia.All patients were ethnic Chinese,had a normal upper endoscopy and were Helicobacter pylori negative prior to enrolment.Study patients were randomized to receive sertraline 50 mg or placebo daily for 8 wk.HKDI symptom scores,quality of life,hospital anxiety and depression(HAD) scale and global symptom relief were evaluated before,during and after treatment.Adverse effects were monitored during and after treatment.RESULTS:A total of 193 patients were randomized in the intention to treat(ITT),and 150 patients were included in the per protocol(PP) analysis.In both the ITT and PP,there was no difference in the primary outcome of global dyspepsia symptoms between the sertraline and placebo groups at week 8.In the ITT analysis,98 and 95 patients were randomized to the sertraline and placebo groups respectively.A total of 43 patients withdrew from the study(22.3%) by week 8,with 23 of the 24 drop-outs in the sertraline group occurring prior to week 4(95.8%).In contrast,in the placebo arm,11 of 19 patients dropped out by week 4(57.9%).Utilizing the last response carried forward to account for the drop-outs,there were no differences between the sertraline and placebo groups at baseline in terms of the HKDI,HKDI 26.08 ± 6.19 vs 26.70 ± 5.89,P = 0.433;and at week 8,HKDI 22.41 ± 6.36 vs 23.25 ± 7.30,P = 0.352 respectively.In the PP analysis,74 and 76 patients were randomized to the sertraline and placebo groups respectively.At baseline,there were no statistically significant differences between the sertraline and placebo groups,HKDI 25.83 ± 6.313 vs 27.19 ± 5.929 respectively,P = 0.233;however by week 8,patients in the sertraline group demonstrated a statistically significant difference in their Hong Kong Dyspepsia Index compared to placebo,HKDI 20.53 ± 6.917 vs 23.34 ± 7.199,P = 0.02,respectively).There was also no statistically significant difference in overall quality of life measures or the HAD scale related to treatment in either the ITT or PP analysis at week 8.CONCLUSION:This pilot study,the first to examine sertraline,a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor,for the management of FD,did not find that it was superior to placebo. | Victoria PY Tan Tin K Cheung Wai M Wong Roberta Pang Benjamin CY Wong | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，42： | 14 |

| 6 | Timing is everything:does early and late germination favor invasions by herbaceous alien plants?显示文摘Aims Plant invasions represent a unique opportunity to study the mechanisms underlying community assembly rules and species distribution patterns.While a superior competitive ability has often been proposed as a major driver of successful plant invasions,its significance depends crucially on the timing of any competitive interaction.We assess whether a mismatch in germination phenology can favor the establishment of alien species,allowing them to exploit vacant niches where competition is low.As well as having important effects on the survival,growth and fitness of a species,asymmetric competition and potential soil legacies resulting from early or late germination can also impact on species recruitment.However,early or late germination comes at a cost,increases the risks of exposure to unfavorable conditions and requires an enhanced abiotic resistance if it is to lead to successful establishment.Important Findings While there are several anecdotal accounts of early and late ger-mination for invasive species,there are limited comparative data with resident species growing under natural conditions.Available evidence from grassland communities indicates that a short-term germination advantage or priority(few days/weeks)provides inva-sive species with a strong competitive advantage over native species and is a critical factor in many invasions.While the exploitation of periods of low competition is a plausible mechanism for the suc-cessful establishment of many invasive plants,direct evidence for this strategy is still scarce.This is particularly true with regard to the exploitation of late germination niches.Consequently,long-term comparative monitoring of the germination phenology of invasive and native plants in situ is needed to assess its significance in a range of ecosystems and its impact on community dynamics. | Margherita Gioria Petr Pyšek Bruce A.Osborne | 2018 | Journal of Plant Ecology2018，11，1： | 5 |
| 7 | Current application of proteomics in biomarker discoveryfor inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘Recently, the field of proteomics has rapidly expanded in its application towards clinical research with objectives ranging from elucidating disease pathogenesis to discovering clinical biomarkers. As proteins govern and/or reflect underlying cellular processes, the study of proteomics provides an attractive avenue for research as it allows for the rapid identification of protein profiles in a biological sample. Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) encompasses several heterogeneous and chronic conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. Proteomic technology provides a powerful means of addressing major challenges in IBD today, especially for identifying biomarkers to improve its diagnosis and management. This review will examine the current state of IBD proteomics research and its use in biomarker research. Furthermore, we also discuss the challenges of translating proteomic research into clinically relevant tools. | 9 | 显示文摘The phase formation regularities in nanometer powders of ternary alloys prepared by gas evaporation process with induction current as the heating source were investigated. Al-Cu-Mn and Al-Cu-Cr were chosen as the samples in this study. The experimental results show that the necessary conditions for forming ternary compound phases in a ternary alloy nanometer powder are that they must be able to form in a conventional bulk alloy. To obtain a ternary compound phase in nanometer powders, composition of the master alloy must be in a certain range. Changing the composition of the master alloy and evaporation temperature can control the kinds of the phases and their relative amount in the alloy nanometer powders. In present study, AlMn, Al8Mn5 and AlCu2Mn phases formed in as-prepared nanometer powders of Al-Cu-Mn alloy, and the highest relative amount of AlCu2Mn phase is about 99%.
