Effects of Halloysite Nanotube Reinforcement in Expandable Graphite Based Intumescent Fire Retardant Coatings Developed Using Hybrid Epoxy Binder System显示文摘In this study, the effects of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) reinforcement in expandable graphite based intumescent fire retardant coatings (IFRCs) developed using a polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)/phenol BA epoxy system were investigated. Intumescent coating formulations were developed by incorporating different weight percentages of HNTs and PDMS in basic intumescent ingredients (ammonium polyphosphate/melamine/boric acid/expandable graphite, APP/MEL/BA/EG). The performance of intumescent formulations was investigated by furnace fire test, Bunsen burner fire test, field emission electron microscopy (FESEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Fourier transform infrared analysis (FTIR). The Bunsen burner fire test results indicated that the fire performance of HNTs and PDMS reinforced intumescent formulation has improved due to the development of silicate network over the char residue. Improved expansion in char residue was also noticed in the formulation, SH(3), due to the minimum decomposition of char carbon. FESEM and TEM results validated the development of silicate network over char layer of coating formulations. A considerable mass loss difference was noticed during thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) of intumescent coating formulations. Reference formulation, SH(0) with no filler, degraded at 300 °C and lost 50% of its total mass but SH(3), due to synergistic effects between PDMS and HNTs, degraded above 400 °C and showed the maximum thermal stability. XRD analysis showed the development of thermally stable compound mulltie, due to the synergism of HNTs and siloxane during intumescent reactions, which enhanced fire performance. FTIR analysis showed the presence of incorporated siloxane and silicates bonds in char residue, which endorsed the toughness of intumescent char layer produced. Moreover, the synergistic effect of HNTs, PDMS, and other basic intumescent ingredients enhanced the polymer cross-linking in binder system and improved fire resistive performance of coatings. | Qandeel Fatima Gillan Faiz Ahmad M.I.Abdul Mutalib Puteri S.M.Megat-Yusoff Sami Ullah | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Polymer Science2018,36,11: | 2

Contributions of the Cybathlon championship to the literature on functional electrical stimulation cycling among individuals with spinal cord injury:A bibliometric review显示文摘Background:Due to its clinically proven safety and health benefits, functional electrical stimulation(FES)cycling has become a popular exercise modality for individuals with spinal cord injury(SCI).Since its inception in 2013,the Cybathlon championship has been a platform for publicizing the potential of FES cycling in rehabilitation and exercise for individuals with SCI.This study aimed to evaluate the contribution of the Cybathlon championship to the literature on FES cycling for individuals with SCI 3 years pre and post the staging of the Cybathlon championship in 2016.Methods:Web of Science,Scopus,ScienceDirect,IEEE Xplore, and Google Scholar databases were searched for relevant studies published between January 2013 and July 2019.The quality of the included studies was objectively evaluated using the Downs and Black checklist. Results:A total of 129 articles on FES cycling were retained for analysis.A total of 51 articles related to Cybathlon were reviewed, and 14 articles were ultimately evaluated for the quality. In 2017,the year following the Cybathlon championship,Web of Science cited 23 published studies on the championship, which was almost 5-fold more than that in 2016(n=5).Training was most often reported as a topic of interest in these studies, which mostly(76.7%)highlighted the training parameters of interest to participating teams in their effort to maximize their FES cycling performance during the Cybathlon championship. Conclusion:The present study indicates that the Cybathlon championship in 2016 contributed to the number of literature published in 2017 on FES cycling for individuals with SCI.This finding may contribute to the lessons that can be learned from participation in the Cybathlon and potentially provide additional insights into research in the field of race-based FES cycling. | Puteri Nur Farhana Hamdan Nur Azah Hamzaid Nasrul Anuar Abd Razak Nazirah Hasnan | 2022 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2022,11,6: | 0
Enhancement and Preservation of Fresh Orange Juice Using Citrus Essential Oils显示文摘Nowadays, consumers are demanding for minimally processed, additive-free, high quality, fresh-like andmicrobiologically safe foods. However, as food deterioration is the constant threat along the entire food chain, food preservationremains as necessary today as in the past. In this paper, several citrus essential oils, including sweet orange, lemon and lime essentialoil applied directly in fresh orange juice as a natural preservative, were analyzed for their antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobialactivity of each citrus essential oil was assessed against Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Lactobacillus plantarum and Aspergillus nigerusing broth macrodilution. Among all citrus essential oils tested, sweet orange essential oil with 0.10% concentration showedsignificant antimicrobial activity against microorganisms tested. Hence, it was chosen to be applied in the fresh orange juice. Then, shelf life analysis was conducted during 7 d of storage at 5 ℃ and during 2 d of storage at 25 ℃ using selected concentration of theselected citrus essential oil in the fresh orange juice. Based on the results obtained, the addition of sweet orange essential oil with0.10% concentration was not able to prolong the shelf life of the fresh orange juice according to the Indonesian National Standard(SNI). However, the formulation of fresh orange juice itself was able to improve its shelf life when compared to the shelf life of thecommercial orange juice. | Eveline Maria Dewi Puspitasari Tirtaningtyas Gunawan Puteri Lisa Amanda Yakhint Irvan Kartawiria | 2017 | Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology(B)2017,7,1: | 0

Adaptive state estimation of groundwater contaminant boundary input flux in a 2-dimensional aquifer显示文摘In many circumstances involving heat and mass transfer issues,it is considered impractical to measure the input flux and the resulting state distribution in the domain. Therefore, the need to develop techniques to provide solutions for such problems and estimate the inverse mass flux becomes imperative.Adaptive state estimator(ASE)is increasingly becoming a popular inverse estimation technique which resolves inverse problems by incorporating the semi-Markovian concept into a Bayesian estimation technique, thereby developing an inverse input and state estimator consisting of a bank of parallel adaptively weighted Kalman filters. The ASE is particularly designed for a system that encompasses independent unknowns and/or random switching of input and measurement biases. The present study describes the scheme to estimate the groundwater input contaminant flux and its transient distribution in a conjectural two-dimensional aquifer by means of ASE,which in particular is because of its unique ability to efficiently handle the process noise giving an estimation of keeping the relative error range within 10%in 2-dimensional problems.Numerical simulation results show that the proposed estimator presents decent estimation performance for both smoothly and abruptly varying input flux scenarios. Results also show that ASE enjoys a better estimation performance than its competitor,Recursive Least Square Estimator(RLSE)due to its larger error tolerance in greater process noise regimes.ASE's inherent deficiency of being slower than the RLSE,resulting from the complexity of algorithm, was also noticed. The chosen input scenarios are tested to calculate the effect of input area and both estimators show improved results with an increase in input flux area especially as sensors are moved closer to the assumed input location. | Muhammad Malik Nauman Murtuza Mehdi Asif Iqbal Muhammad Saifullah Abu Bakar Brahim Aissa Dk Nur Afiqah Jalwati Puteri Amer Farhan Rafique | 2019 | Journal of Groundwater Science and Engineering2019,7,4: | 0
Google Scholar University Ranking Algorithm to Evaluate the Quality of Institutional Research显示文摘Education quality has undoubtedly become an important local and international benchmark for education, and an institute’s ranking is assessed based on the quality of education, research projects, theses, and dissertations, which has always been controversial.Hence, this research paper is influenced by the institutes ranking all over the world. The data of institutes are obtained through Google Scholar(GS),as input to investigate the United Kingdom’s Research Excellence Framework(UK-REF)process.For this purpose, the current research used a Bespoke Program to evaluate the institutes’ranking based on their source. The bespoke program requires changes to improve the results by addressing these methodological issues:Firstly,Redundant profiles, which increased their citation and rank to produce false results.Secondly, the exclusion of theses and dissertation documents to retrieve the actual publications to count for citations.Thirdly, the elimination of falsely owned articles from scholars’profiles. To accomplish this task, the experimental design referred to collecting data from 120 UK-REF institutes and GS for the present year to enhance its correlation analysis in this new evaluation. The data extracted from GS is processed into structured data, and afterward,it is utilized to generate statistical computations of citations’analysis that contribute to the ranking based on their citations. The research promoted the predictive approach of correlational research.Furthermore, experimental evaluation reported encouraging results in comparison to the previous modi-fication made by the proposed taxonomy. This paper discussed the limitations of the current evaluation and suggested the potential paths to improve the research impact algorithm. | Noor Ul Sabah Muhammad Murad Khan Ramzan Talib Muhammad Anwar Muhammad Sheraz Arshad Malik Puteri Nor Ellyza Nohuddin | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,6: | 0
