| 1 | Effect of porosities of bilayered porous scaffolds on spontaneous osteochondral repair in cartilage tissue engineering显示文摘Poly(lactide-co-glycolide)-bilayered scaffolds with the same porosity or different ones on the two layers were fabricated,and the porosity effect on in vivo repairing of the osteochondral defect was examined in a comparative way for the first time.The constructs of scaffolds and bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were implanted into pre-created osteochondral defects in the femoral condyle of New Zealand white rabbits.After 12 weeks,all experimental groups exhibited good cartilage repairing according to macroscopic appearance,cross-section view,haematoxylin and eosin staining,toluidine blue staining,immunohistochemical staining and real-time polymerase chain reaction of characteristic genes.The group of 92%porosity in the cartilage layer and 77%porosity in the bone layer resulted in the best efficacy,which was understood by more biomechanical mimicking of the natural cartilage and subchondral bone.This study illustrates unambiguously that cartilage tissue engineering allows for a wide range of scaffold porosity,yet some porosity group is optimal.It is also revealed that the biomechanical matching with the natural composite tissue should be taken into consideration in the design of practical biomaterials,which is especially important for porosities of a multi-compartment scaffold concerning connected tissues. | Zhen Pan Pingguo Duan Xiangnan Liu Huiren Wang Lu Cao Yao He Jian Dong Jiandong Ding | 2015 | Regenerative Biomaterials2015,2,1: | 20 |
| 2 | 基于张网渔获的蟹笼渔具对三疣梭子蟹的相对选择性显示文摘蟹笼渔具是东海近海重要的作业方式,安装释放装置是改善蟹笼渔具选择性的重要技术手段。作者通过海上试验,对比释放口宽度分别为25 mm和30 mm的试验蟹笼、对照蟹笼和张网的三疣梭子蟹(Portunus trituberculatus)渔获,结合渔获方程和SELECT模型分析蟹笼的接触选择性和对张网的相对选择性。试验结果显示,张网渔具所捕获的群体较对照蟹笼更小;对比对照蟹笼渔获分布,分析试验蟹笼的接触选择性,结果显示,50%选择甲宽(l50)和蟹笼的捕捞能力随着释放口宽度的增大而增大,但选择范围(SR)基本不变。对比张网的渔获分布,获得蟹笼对三疣梭子蟹的相对选择性,结合张网和蟹笼的作业特点,将对照蟹笼的相对选择性视为蟹笼渔具的可捕率,结果显示,较大的个体更容易接触并进入蟹笼,50%概率接触并进入蟹笼的个体甲宽为98.7 mm;释放口宽度30 mm的试验蟹笼的相对选择性的l50(118.4 mm)和SR(10.5 mm)与接触选择性的l50(117.4 mm)和SR(9.5 mm)几无差异;对于释放口宽度25 mm的试验蟹笼,接触和相对选择性l50没有差异,但相对选择范围SR(5.6 mm)明显小于接触选择范围(11.3 mm),因此只考虑蟹笼的接触选择性而忽略其可捕率所得的结果可能会产生偏差。根据试验结果,本文对蟹笼渔具的可捕率的描述方式以及与蟹笼作业能力的区别进行了探讨。 | 白伦 张新峰 HE Pingguo 张健 | 2015 | 中国水产科学2015,22,2: | 9 |
| 3 | Effect of escape vents on retention and size selectivity of crab pots for swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus in the East China Sea显示文摘An increase in the crab pot fishery in the East China Sea has caused great pressure on swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus resources.Thus,it is essential to implement suitable measures to release sublegal-sized crabs to increase the number of recruits for legal-sized crabs.One of the measures considered is the installation of escape vents on crab pots.We tested crab pots with one and two escape vents and compared the catchability and size selectivity of these pots with control pots without an escape vent.Pots with one escape vent located on single side of the pot,top or bottom(SS),and another on both sides at top and bottom edges(BS)were tested in sea trial experiments following typical commercial fishing practice.The results show that both SS pots and BS pots caught significantly smaller number of sublegal-sized crabs(<116 mm carapace width,CW),but the difference in catch between the two types of crab pots is not significant.The 50%selective CWs(CW_(50))and the selective ranges(SRs)of both BS pots are slightly larger than those of SS pots.However,95%confidence intervals of CW_(50)s and SRs are overlapped,indicating that the discrepancy between them is small.Then,in a mixed effect model,the effect of locations of escape vents,taken as the fixed effect,on selectivity parameters and indexes was analyzed by hypothesis testing.The results show that null hypothesis of no effect of location of vents on size selectivity cannot be rejected,indicating that there is no significant difference in size selectivity between the two types of pots for P.trituberculatus. | Jian Zhang Zhanwen Pei Pingguo He Jiangao Shi | 2021 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2021,6,4: | 3 |

| 9 | Automated Separation of Stars and Normal Galaxies Based on Statistical Mixture Modeling with RBF Neural Networks显示文摘For LAMOST,the largest sky survey program in China,the solution of the problem of automatic discrimination of stars from galaxies by spectra has shown that the results of the PSF test can be significantly refined.However,the problem is made worse when the redshifts of galaxies are not available.We present a new automatic method of star/(normal)galaxy separation,which is based on Statistical Mixture Modeling with Radial Basis Function Neural netrworks(SMM-RBFNN).This work is a continuation of our previous one,where active and non-active celestial objects were successfully segregated.By combining the method in this paper and the previous one,stars can now be effectively separated from galaxies and AGNs by their spectra-a major goal of LAMOST,and an indispensable step in any automatic spectrum classification system.In our work,the training set includes standard stellar spectra from Jacoby's spectrum library and simulated galaxy spectra of EO,SO,Sa,Sb types with redshift ranging from 0 to 1.2,and the test set of stellar spectra from Pickles'atlas and SDSS spectra of normal galaxies with SNR of 13.Experiments show that our SMM-RBFNN is more efficient in both the training and testing stages than the BPNN(back propagation neural networks),and more importantly,it can achieve a good classification accuracy of 99.22% and 96.52%,respectively for stars and normal galaxies. | Dong-MeiQin PingGuo Yong-HengZhao | 2003 | Chinese Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics2003,3,3: | 1 |

It uses the extended Kalman filter as a feature selector and pre-classifier of the data, and the radial basis function neural networks for the classification.Experiments with real data have shown that the correct classification rate can reach as high as 93%, which is quite satisfactory. When different system models are selected for the extended Kalman filter, the classification results are relatively stable. | 14 | Effectiveness of escape vent shape in crab pots for releasing swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus in the East China sea显示文摘To stop the decline of swimming crab(Portunus trituberculatus)stocks in the East China Sea,escape vents on crab pots are urgently required to improve pot selectivity and enable release of sublegal-sized crabs.This study presents field comparative fishing experiments,which examined the effectiveness of different shapes and sizes of escape vents in crab pots for the release of swimming crabs.Two sizes each of rectangular,elliptic,and circular escape vents were tested.The results of comparative fishing experiments indicated that experimental pots with escape vents,regardless of their configuration,caught significantly fewer sublegal-sized crabs(<49 mm carapace length,or<116 mm carapace width)than unmodified control pots.Although legal-sized swimming crabs were also less caught,analysis of size selectivity showed that rectangular vents produced steeper selectivity curves than elliptic and circular escape vents.This indicates that rectangular vents may be more suitable and controllable when escape vents will become a requirement and their use will be enforced in fisheries.Underwater observations were conducted using GoPro cameras and LED lights during the first 2.5 h of the deployments(which usually lasted between 5 and 12 h).Video recordings of experimental pots equipped with rectangular or elliptic escape vents showed that swimming crabs trapped in the pots could detect the vents,and readily approached and passed through these.However,no significant difference was detected in the response behavior of swimming crabs between rectangular and elliptic vent pots when quantitative indicators,derived from video recordings,were compared.The effect of different vent shapes on the escape behavior of swimming crab gradually manifested as an increased soak time and by the onset of the escape of larger crabs.Future underwater observations should thus last the entire duration of pot soaking to study how crabs escape from the pots. | Jian Zhang Xiaofei Shi Pingguo He Jiangao Shi | 2023 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2023,8,3: | 0 |
| 15 | Value of Non-tumoral Liver Volume in the Prognosis of Large Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients After R0 Resection显示文摘Background and Aims:Hepatectomy is an effective treatment for selected patients with large hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).This study aimed to develop a nomogram in-corporating non-tumoral liver volume(non-TLV)and liver function markers to predict the patients’overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS).Methods:Data of 198 consecutive large HCC patients who underwent hepa-tectomy at the Zhongshan Hospital Xiamen University were collected.Another 68 patients from the Mengchao Hepatobil-iary Surgery Hospital served as an external validation cohort.The nomograms were developed based on the independent prognostic factors screened by multivariate Cox regression analyses.Concordance index(C-index),calibration curves,and time-dependent receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were used to measure the discrimination and predic-tive accuracy of the models.Results:High HBV DNA level,low non-TLV/ICG,vascular invasion,and a poorly differenti-ated tumor were confirmed as independent risk factors for both OS and DFS.The model established in this study pre-dicted 5-year post-operative survival and DFS in good agree-ment with the actual observation confirmed by the calibra-tion curves.The C-indexes of the nomograms in predicting OS and DFS were 0.812 and 0.823 in the training cohort,0.821 and 0.846 in the internal validation cohort,and 0.724 and 0.755 in the external validation cohort.The areas under the ROC curves(AUCs)of nomograms for predicted OS and DFS at 1,3,and 5 year were 0.85,0.86,0.83 and 0.76,0.76,0.63,respectively.Conclusions:Nomograms with non-TLV/ICG predicted the prognosis of single large HCC patients ac-curately and effectively. | Dongliang Zuo Yuntong Li Hongzhi Liu Dongxu Liu Qinliang Fang Pengtao Li Liang Tu Yu Xiong Yongyi Zeng Pingguo Liu | 2023 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,3: | 0 |

| 19 | Release of unwanted flat-bodied fish from a horizontal-bar grid system as revealed through comparative fishing trials and underwater video observations显示文摘Grid systems separate fish species primarily through physical means:fish size and body shape.On Georges Bank off the northeast USA,many species of flounders are overfished,and their catch needs to be reduced.Flat-bodied skates are also often discarded.We tested a European style horizontal-bar grid system to reduce these flat-bodied low quota species in a trawl targeting the haddock(Melanogrammus aeglefinus),whose population is robust.The grid system consisted of 4 grid sections,two on each side,with horizontal bars 70 mm apart.The alternating tow method was used to compare the catch characteristics between a trawl with a grid section and the same trawl without a grid section.A video camera was used to observe fish escape in the grid section.The results indicate that the grid system reduced the flounder catch rate(mainly winter flounder,Pseudopleuronectes americanus)by 51.3%,and skates(mainly winter skate,Leucoraja ocellata and little skate,Leucoraja erinacea)by 29.4%,while there were no differences in the catch of Atlantic cod(Gadus morhua).While haddock was reduced by 37%by weight,the reduction was primarily small undersized individuals.There was no reduction in large haddock greater than 50 cm.Video observations indicates that flounders and cod mainly escaped from the bottom half of the grid while haddock were from the top half.These finding suggest that this system reduced low quota flounders,as well as discarded skates and small haddock,while retaining Atlantic cod and large size haddock.Underwater observations indicate that differential spacing(narrower on the top and wider on the bottom)may improve the system performance by releasing more flat-bodied fish,that were observed to escape from the bottom part of the grid,while retaining more haddock,which typically escape from the top part of the grid. | Christopher B.Rillahan Pingguo He | 2021 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2021,6,4: | 0 |
