The class conditional density is estimated by KDE and the bandwidthof the kernel function is estimated by Expectation Maximum (EM) algorithm. | 3 | Face Recognition Based on Support Vector Machine and Nearest Neighbor Classifier显示文摘Support vector machine (SVM), as a novel approach in pattern recognition, has demonstrated a success in face detection and face recognition. In this paper, a face recognition approach based on the SVM classifier with the nearest neighbor classifier (NNC) is proposed. The principal component analysis (PCA) is used to reduce the dimension and extract features. Then one-against-all stratedy is used to train the SVM classifiers. At the testing stage, we propose an algorithm by combining SVM classifier with NNC to improve the correct recognition rate. We conduct the experiment on the Cambridge ORL face database. | 4 | Approximate computation of Madaline sensitivity based on discrete stochastic technique显示文摘The computation of the sensitivity of a Madaline's output to its parameter perturbation is system- atically discussed. Firstly, according to the discrete feature of Adalines, a method based on discrete stochastic technique is proposed, which derives some analytical formulas for the computation of Adalines' sensitivity. The method can theoretically solve some problems that are unsolvable by the existing methods based on continu- ous stochastic techniques, release some unpractical constraints, and make it available to theoretically analyze the approximation error of Adalines' sensitivity. Secondly, on the basis of the sensitivity of Adalines and the structural characteristics of Madalines, a new selection strategy depending on a type of dedication degree for computing Madalines' sensitivity is proposed, which is superior to current popular way of simply averaging in both precision and complexity. | 5 | Wireless Location Determination for Mobile Objects Based on GSM in Intelligent Transportation Systems显示文摘The mobile object (MO) location determination technologies which can be used in intelligent transportation system (ITS) are studied in this paper. The principles and characteristics of wireless location determination technologies are introduced and the characteristics of GSM useful for location determination are also summarized. An experimental positioning system based on GSM is proposed, and the architecture is described. TOA method based on GSM signals and TDOA method are used in the experimental system. Moreover, the methods are simulated. | 6 | A DETECTION METHOD OF HIGH RESOLUTION RADAR TARGETS BASED ON POSITION CORRELATION显示文摘This paper studies a detection method of targets of high resolution radar operating at the band of millimeter-wave(32-38GHz) under the background of the clutters, and proposes a new nonparametric detection method, which not only does less computation, but also is able to detect multiple extended targets radially distributed along distance 'corridor', based on the position (range) correlation information of one-dimensional range images(or called range profiles) of high resolution radar targets. | 15 | Research on hoarse speech based on vocal cord model and glottal waveform显示文摘Considering the fact that hoarse speech is usually caused by pathological changes of vocal cords, and its motion state is reflected by glottal waveform, we present a new method of research on hoarse speech based on dissymmetric four-mass model of vocal cords and glottal wave analysis-synthesis ill this paper. By linking hoarse speech waveform with glottal wave and the vocal cord model, the characteristic parameters of normal speech and hoarse speech before and after laryngeal operation are studied. The parameters of glottal wave periodicity and vocal cord symmetry of hoarse speech are compared with those of normal speech. It is applied to analyzing the relations between model parameters and hoarse mechanism in pathology and physiology. However, the traditional Hidden Markov Models(HMM) can not model the co-articulation, because they depend on the first-order assumption. In this paper, for modeling the co-articulation, a more perfect HMM than traditional first order HMM is proposed on the basis of the authors’ previous works(1997, 1998) and they give a method in that this HMM is used in continuous speech recognition by means of multilayer perceptrons(MLP), i.e. the hybrid HMM/MLP method with triple MLP structure. The project is conducted by using fuzzy neuraI networks and basing recognition on the spectra of vessel radiated-noise. Paper (Ⅰ) describes the characteristics of vessel radiated-noise spectra, which are composed of two distinctive categories: the stationary and the non-stationary. The project framework is introduced in the paper. It includes two steps. One is to extract effectively recognizable features (those common in one category and those distinguish categories). The other is to memorize the characteristics of specific vessel targets. The memorization is realized with characteristics pattern plate library of specific vessels (including line spectrum, double-frequency spectrum and average power spectrum pattern plate library). Detailed discussions on theories, models, parameter analysis, line-spectrum extraction methods, as well as gaps between reality and theory concerning vessels radiated-noise are also included in Paper (Ⅰ). Paper (Ⅰ) finally proposes a method of automatic extraction of line spectrum by using machines. Paper (Ⅱ) will discuss the stability, uniqueness of line spectrum and its pattern plate. But in a premier system, only static image processing can be provided with the limitation of web technology. The development of Java and CORBA (common object request broker architecture) overcomes the shortcoming of the web static application and makes the dynamic processing of medical images on the web available. To develop an open solution of distributed computing, we integrate the Java, and web with the CORBA and present a web-based medical image dynamic processing methed, which adopts Java technology as the language to program application and components of the web and utilies the CORBA architecture to cope with heterogeneous property of a complex distributed system. The method also provides a platform-independent, transparent processing architecture to implement the advanced image routines and enable users to access large dataset and resources according to the requirements of medical applications. | 20 | Skew Detection for Binary Document Images Using Mathematical Morphyology显示文摘The input document images with skew can be a serious problem in the optical character recognition system. A method is proposed for skew detection in binary document images using mathematic morphology. The basic process of our approach consists of three steps: Firstly, a dilation operation is applied to the binary image; Secondly, the dilated image is thinned; Finally, the skew angle is detected using the Hough transform.
